After a big sip from her coffee cup, Lucy couldn't help but release an even bigger sigh. It seemed like her life lately was nonstop, especially with that competition, so this moment she had to herself was just what she needed.
Lucy woke up early, before all her other bandmates in fact. She always was an early riser but she also wanted to get every second out of this vacation as she could, especially with a tour in her future. A tour! She couldn't believe it.
After waking, Lucy wandered near the hotel until she found a small café around the corner from a small garden. She sipped her coffee and enjoyed the many beautiful flowers until she found a swing. It was wrapped in vines and perfectly placed on a hillside to overlook the ocean.
The blonde took a seat and soaked in the view. She swayed herself lightly back and forth as she sipped away at her mocha. She breathed in the salt air from the sea and watched as the waves retracted then rolled back onto the shore. It didn't surprise her that there were already people out enjoying the beach and the waves. It was all so peaceful.
"Luce!" Well there goes that. Lucy turned to her left to see Natsu walking up to her and her eyes went wide. Natsu was wearing swim trunks and flip flops with a towel draped around his neck; to top it all off, he was dripping wet… and shirtless.
"Wh-what are you doing out here?" Lucy asked as she averted her eyes from Natsu's chiseled body.
"I could ask you the same question," Natsu remarked as he sat down on the seat beside her. "You know what Laxus said about the buddy system."
"Yeah but weren't you the one who said rules were meant to be broken?," Lucy replied.
"You're actually gonna take my advice on something?" he stated in disbelief. "The rule was made for us so…" Natsu leaned in close to her, "Even worse if we are the ones who break it." He pulled the towel over his head and began shaking his hair dry. Lucy couldn't help but run her eyes down from his hands to his biceps, to his shoulders. Why would a guitarist be this fit?!
Natsu flicked his head back and Lucy had to quickly look away so he wouldn't know she was looking at him.
"So what were you doing out here, rule breaker?" he sassed.
"I asked you first," Lucy glared.
"Fair, fair. I was out for a morning swim in the resort's pool but I was within view of my hotel room. So now what about you?"
"I just wanted some time to enjoy myself but someone had to go and ruin it." Natsu gave a look of shock and disgust. He gasped, "You don't like hanging out with me?!"
"I didn't say that, I just wanted time to myself is all."
"Well I saw you walk by the pool area alone and I didn't want you to get yelled at by Laxus. Trust me, it's not a fun experience."
"Well, thank you for being worried about me, Natsu."
Lucy's phone sounded from her pocket. She retrieved it and saw Gray's picture on the screen. "Why is Ice Face calling you?!"
With a click of the screen, Lucy accepted the call. "Hey Gray, what's up?"
"I am assuming Flame Breath is with you?"
Natsu leaned in, "What is he saying?!"
Lucy pushed his face away, "Why would you assume that?"
"Well because you're both missing and I would hope you wouldn't be as dumb as Natsu and break the rules."
"Hey!" they both yelled.
"So I was right… well anyway we are having breakfast in about five so get over here."
With a sigh, Lucy hung up the phone. "Like I'd stoop to your level!"
"Well you did break the rules and ventured out alone." She opened her mouth to respond but quickly shut it. She did go out on her own despite the clear rules laid out at the beginning of the trip. Oh Mavis! She did stoop to his level!
"Shut up!" she yelled as she batted at his arm. "Go get dressed or put on a shirt at least."
Natsu stood up but turned to extend a hand, "If I walk back by myself, it will be both of our asses on the line."
Lucy rolled her eyes, "Ugh fine." She reached out and took his hand, allowing him to pull her out of the swing and off to the hotel.
…
Mira decided the girls needed to have an afternoon together to bond and take a breath from the boys and their antics. Luckily there was a world class spa at the resort and the AOP girls had it all to themselves.
Lucy had never been to a spa before. She had under gone strenuous beauty treatments during her time living at Heartfilia Estates due to her father's set up attempts. She hated that regiment but she did highly value personal hygiene. One of her favorite things to do was to relax in a nice, hot bath.
Mira had set up massages for each of the girls, which Lucy thoroughly enjoyed. She didn't realize how much stress she was holding in until the massage began. Note to self, she thought, I need to do this regularly.
After the massage, the girls gathered in the hot spring area to sit and talk for a bit before their mani/pedis. If she thought she had reached maximum relaxation this morning with her coffee, she was sorely mistaken. Lucy released a sigh as she slipped into the steaming water to join her bandmates.
"This is amazing, Mira," Levy sighed.
"Fairy Tail has the best spa experience and believe me, I've been to enough spas to know," their manager replied.
"Juvia loves the water," the blunette stated as she fully dunked her head in the water. Levy and Lucy chuckled at their friend. "This is really therapeutic," Erza commented.
"Well you girls certainly deserve it. Battle of the Bands is stressful in itself but adding the upcoming tour on top of it… I wanted you all to have a chance to catch your breath."
"So where will we be going on the tour?" Lucy asked excitedly. Mira responded by lifting a finger to her mouth and made a zipper motion. "We are on vacation so there is no point in worrying about it. We will talk about it soon enough but for now we relax."
Lucy understood but she was a bit disappointed. She liked to have things planned, the complete opposite of spontaneity... although she ran away from home without much of a second thought… oh well!
"How are you, Lu-chan?" Lucy snapped out of her thoughts and looked to the friend sitting next to her. "What?"
"Well with everything that's happened we really haven't had time to see how you were doing with all of this."
"Levy is right," Erza chimed in, "Your dad, the competition, the tour… how are you holding up?" Erza placed her hand reassuringly on Lucy's shoulder. The blonde glanced around at her friends who all seemed genuinely concerned with her wellbeing.
"I'm doing better than I thought, actually." The group seemed to smile at this. "I'm still a bit shocked we won the competition and I can say I did learn a lot about myself and about us as a band because of it. I can't tell you how excited I am to go on this tour. It's something I've always dreamed of but never thought I would accomplish."
"Well we are glad that you are in good spirits," Juvia added when she emerged from below the surface.
"For the first time, I'm not dreading the future… I'm excited to see what lies in store for us," Lucy smiled to herself.
"I didn't think I would ever be in a band," Levy chuckled.
"Really?!" Lucy gasped. Levy shook her head, "No, I went to Fairy Tail because I loved music and wanted to discover all I could about it. I always imagined being part of an orchestra or teaching music at Fairy Tail as a professor."
"Juvia just wanted to meet Gray-sama…"
"I always felt that I would never find a place in music," Lucy turned towards Erza and saw a sad stare she had never seen before. "I was always told I was too rowdy to be a musician but it seems my craziness can be fully embraced." Erza lifted her head and gave Lucy a bright smile.
"True, I didn't think I would ever get to be a manager of a band, let alone a successful celebrity. I always pictured myself as married with kids by now."
"You'll get there someday, Mira!" Levy assured her.
"Yeah, you have Laxus after all," Lucy added, a slight tang hitting her heart. Mira gave a content smile at the comment.
"That I do," Mira smiled.
"How long have you two been dating now?" Erza asked. Mira put a finger to her cheek, "About five years now."
"Has it been that long?" Levy exclaimed.
"A lot has happened it each of our lives… we somehow found each other in the midst of the chaos of our careers and kept colliding after that… each time with an energy I cant quite describe."
"That's beautiful," Lucy whispered.
"When people come together, an energy is formed… the energy you girls create is what drew me to you and why you won the competition. You girls have something special and I cant wait to see what chaos we can get ourselves into," Mira stated.
The girls all giggled before being notified by the attendant they were ready for their next spa event.
…
"Well this is fun…" Levy stated sarcastically. The group sat silent around their table near the pool.
Laxus gathered both groups together to announce he and Mira would be going for a walk, which meant the groups had to sit in the courtyard with Freed.
"We're not kids anymore, Freed, we don't need a babysitter," Natsu groaned as he slumped further into his chair. Lucy looked over her shoulder to stare at the green haired man sitting at the table behind them.
"Says the one who once ran off because he saw a balloon and got lost," Freed replied without looking up from his book.
Natsu swiftly stood and turned to face Freed, "It's not my fault; I didn't plan to film a music video in the middle of a maze!" The pink haired guitarist immediately slumped back down into his seat.
"Seriously," Lucy tried not to laugh.
"You were supposed to stay with security so you knew your way around," Gray added.
"Shut up, Ice Face!" Natsu yelled.
"What are we supposed to do then?" Levy asked.
"Laxus isn't here," Natsu stated. The girls didn't seem to understand the comment but a smile grew on Gray's face.
"No, Natsu," Freed interjected.
The girls looked back and forth between each other and then at the guys who seemed to be smiling. "So?" Levy replied.
"So… it means we can have a little fun!" The guys ran up onto the stage and took their places behind their instruments.
"Natsu, you know what Laxus says about performing," Freed sighed, his eyes never leaving the book he held in his hands.
"We're on vacation, Freed, just let us have a little fun," Jellal pleaded.
"Besides, it's not like we are spoiling anything being on a private, Fairy Tail owned and operated island," Natsu added.
With an even bigger sigh, Freed rolled his eyes and continued reading.
"So what do you want to do?" Jellal asked. People from around the hotel started to crowd into the pool area where the groups were.
"What was that song that we heard on the radio the other day?" Natsu asked as he looked to Gray. Gray seemed to know exactly what Natsu was talking about because he immediately started to strum a melody on the guitar.
Natsu chuckled, "Yeah that's the one!" Gajeel kicked the drum to the beat and those watching began to clap along to it.
Natsu turned away from his band and began singing.
Oh, no
Natsu pointed out at the girls who chuckled at the guys' absurdity.
See you walking 'round like it's a funeral
Not so serious, girl, why those feet cold?
Natsu waggled a single finger in front of him.
We just getting started, don't you tiptoe
Tiptoe, ah
Natsu turned his had upside down while he pointed two fingers out. He moved his fingers like the legs of a person walking.
Waste time with a masterpiece
Don't waste time with a masterpiece (huh!)
Natsu waggled his fingers again before the rest of the boys shouted their part.
You should be rolling with me
You should be rolling with me, ah
Natsu walked along the front of the stage with his arm and a pointer finger extended.
You're a real-life fantasy
You're a real-life fantasy
But you're moving so carefully
Let's start living dangerously
Natsu took a couple steps back.
Talk to me, baby
I'm going blind from this sweet-sweet craving
Whoa-oh
Let's lose our minds and go fucking crazy
Natsu shook his hair with his free hand.
Ah ya ya ya ya
I keep on hoping we'll eat cake by the ocean
Walk for me, baby
Natsu strutted like a model along the edge of the stage. Lucy couldn't help but laugh out loud. When he got to the other side, he struck a pose.
I'll be Diddy, you'll be Naomi, whoa-oh
Let's lose our minds and go fucking crazy
Ah ya ya ya ya
I keep on hoping we'll eat cake by the ocean
Natsu pumped a fist in the air to the end of the chorus before turning around to put his back to the audience.
As the next verse began, Natsu whipped around and pulled at the front of his tee shirt.
Goddamn
See you licking frosting from your own hands
Want another taste, I'm begging, yes ma'am
Natsu stood at the edge and pointed at the girls before nodding his head.
I'm tired of all this candy on the dry land
Dry land, oh
Waste time with a masterpiece
Don't waste time with a masterpiece
Natsu stood back to back with Gray and pointed over his shoulder at his fellow bandmate.
Gray bumped him back so Natsu walked along to the other side of the stage.
You should be rolling with me
You should be rolling with me, ah
You're a real-life fantasy
You're a real-life fantasy
But you're moving so carefully
Natsu began hopping in anticipation of the chorus and jumped as the beat started.
Let's start living dangerously, whoah
Talk to me, baby
I'm going blind from this sweet craving
Whoa-oh
Let's lose our minds and go fucking crazy
Natsu bounced around the stage interacting with each of his bandmates, just enjoying the moment.
Ah ya ya ya ya
I keep on hoping we'll eat cake by the ocean
Walk for me, baby
I'll be Diddy, you'll be Naomi, whoa-oh
Let's lose our minds and go fucking crazy
Ah ya ya ya ya
I keep on hoping
We'll eat cake by the ocean(ooh, aah)
Natsu moved his hand like a wave further away from his body.
Ah ya ya ya ya
I keep on hoping
We'll eat cake by the ocean(ooh, aah)
Ah ya ya ya ya
I keep on hoping
We'll eat cake by the ocean(ooh, aah)
Natsu chuckled, he couldn't help that he was having a good time right now. He gentl placed a finger to his ear to exaggerate his high note.
Talk to me, girl
Talk to me, baby
I'm going blind from this sweet-sweet craving
Whoa-oh
Let's lose our minds and go fucking crazy
Ah ya ya ya ya
I keep on hoping
We'll eat cake by the ocean
Walk for me, baby
I'll be Diddy, you'll be Naomi, whoa-oh
Let's lose our minds and go fucking crazy
Ah ya ya ya ya
I keep on hoping
We'll eat cake by the ocean
Natsu and Gray danced to the bridge before striking a dramatic pose to finish the song.
Red velvet, vanilla, chocolate in my life
Confetti, I'm ready, I need it every night
Red velvet, vanilla,
Chocolate in my life(ah ya ya ya ya)
I keep on hoping
We'll eat cake by the ocean
The girls chuckled and stood as they clapped for the boys. The hotel staff which congregated cheered and hollered as well. Freed seemed to still be as disinterred in what transpired as before.
"Cake By the Ocean… really?" Lucy asked as the boys sat down.
"What?" Gray shrugged, "It's a great song!" Natsu stuck the microphone in Lucy's face and she looked up at him in confusion.
"You're turn," Natsu pushed.
"Mira said we are to relax and I got in trouble yesterday for working on music," Lucy explained. Natsu dramatically looked around the courtyard.
"I don't know about you, but I don't see Mira anywhere," Natsu smirked madly. Lucy chuckled and shook her head before grabbing the mic out of his hand.
The girls took the stage, causing the hotel staff to excitedly jump for another performance. "What are you feeling?" Lucy asked as she turned around to her band while placing the mic in its stand.
Juvia simply responded by strumming out some notes on her guitar. The girls all smirked as they prepared for the drop.
Erza added a bit of drum beat before the instruments paused. Levy, Erza and Juvia came back in strong to play along to Juvia's original melody and Lucy threw her head around with it.
Lucy grabbed the mic stand with one hand and fixed her hair so it was out of her face with the other.
You got the nerve to come and say
That you're not standing in my way
Lucy clutched the mic with both hands and swayed slightly.
When we both know
That you're not who you say you are
And you're a mess
Lucy tipped her head slightly to the side like she was in disbelief.
And you know it
Even though you try real hard still show it
Still show it
Lucy raised an arm slowly before throwing it down.
You can't take it back
With all I tried
All I know's that
You can't shape me
I've been up and I've been down
Lucy held the mic stand with both hands but threw it around from side to side.
And I was kinda hoping
You could be my hero
You could be my hero
Lucy ripped the mic free and held it with one had but still held on tight to the stand with the other.
Well I've had high hopes up till now
And I was kinda hoping
You could be my hero
You could be my hero
Lucy released the stand to threw her head around once more to join Levy who also bobbed her head along. Juvia stamped her foot along to the beat Erza played.
Lucy calmed a bit to match the tempo of the verse.
Are we okay, we alright?
Heard you've been having sleepless nights
Now I know that
We can't go back
Back to how things used to be
Lucy spun around before stopping and pointing up to the sky.
Seasons still change
But you'll still be the same
You can't take it back
Lucy placed her free hand on her chest.
With all I tried
All I know's that
Lucy extended her arms out wide.
You can't shape me
I've been up and I've been down
Lucy nodded her head to the beat before pointing out to the audience. The guys weren't the only ones drawn into the song, everyone there was in love with it!
And I was kinda hoping
You could be my hero
You could be my hero
Well I've had high hopes up till now
And I was kinda hoping
You could be my hero
You could be my hero
Lucy turned to face her bandmates and stomped along to the beat to join their energetic movement.
Seasons still change
But you'll still be the same
You'll be the same
Lucy held onto the empty stand once more before placing the mic back into it. She fixed her hair once more before resting both hands on it.
The other girls had calmed their instruments just a bit to let Lucy sing. Juvia kept up with her.
You can't take it back
With all I tried
The girls strummed in sync created a powerful movement.
And I know that
You can't shape me
Lucy appeared to be gearing up for a big note but simply spoke the last word before stepping away from the mic.
Juvia stepped forward just a bit to shred her Juvia magic on the guitar. Gray slumped back into his chair, "She never ceases to amaze me," he said in a hushed tone.
Lucy grabbed the mic out of the stand again.
I've been up and I've been down
And I was kinda hoping
You could be my hero
You could be my hero
Lucy dipped down as Levy jumped off the amp and landed on the ground.
Well I've had high hopes up till now
And now I've realized
Lucy placed her hand on her chest before pointing straight out.
You'll never be my hero
You'll never be my hero
Lucy threw her head around once more during the small interlude before calming just a bit for the last line.
You'll never be my hero
The AU guys clapped along with the staff, with Natsu adding a whistle. The girls giggled and all stood at the front of the stage before giving a company bow.
…
Audio Uproar and Accidentally On Purpose got bored of sitting in the courtyard and convinced Freed to allow them to go up to the suite to play games. Freed gladly accepted so he could enjoy his book in peace.
The two played a few card games before settling on some video games. Gray and Gajeel were caught in a heated battle in a fighting game, with Juvia and Levy each cheering them one. Jellal and Erza chatted off to the side enjoying their new found relationship.
Lucy seemed to have a moment of clarity and realized she was yet again 'third wheeling' here. As she glanced around the room at the respective groups, she noticed a certain pink haired guitarist was nowhere to be found.
She retrieved her phone from her pocket and typed 'Marco?' to Natsu. A few seconds later, her phoned dinged signaling she had a message. Lucy taped the screen to see Natsu's reply 'Polo' followed by a wave emoji.
Slowly and secretly, Lucy slipped out of the suite and made her way towards the ocean. As she walked further away from the hotel, she couldn't help but wonder how Natsu had left without anyone noticing. She heard the sound of a faint guitar amidst the sound of the crashing waves and assumed she was getting closer. As she got to the top of a small sand dune, she saw Natsu sitting on the other side, strumming his guitar and staring out into the ocean.
"So what are you doing out here, rule breaker?" Lucy made sure to match the sass she received earlier from the man before her. She heard him chuckle as she sat beside him. "I just wanted some time to enjoy myself but someone had to go and ruin it," he clapped back. Lucy went to fake gasp but inhaled too much air and ended up coughing. Natsu couldn't help but laugh at the blonde.
"I just needed to go out and get lost in some music," Natsu answered as he lightly strummed the guitar. "It's how I process."
"Process, what?" Lucy asked.
"Well, I usually find some time before a performance to take some time for myself, especially before a tour. It's difficult to find time for yourself when you are constantly surrounded by people."
"You make touring sound horrible," Lucy dead panned.
"I mean it's not for everyone. I love doing it but it can be draining emotionally and physically."
"Didn't Gajeel break his leg during a tour?"
Natsu nodded in reply, "Yeah we got a bit too excited that we would be performing on a platform and he kinda fell off." Natsu stopped strumming and looked straight forward.
"What a minute, that was super early on in our career." Lucy's eyes went wide, CRAP! "I thought you said you hardly listened to our music? And that our music was and I quote 'just a bunch of pointless male angst put to the same beat'?"
Lucy tried to turn her embarrassed face away from the man, "W-why would I say that? I don't seem to recall…"
"Uh huh sure. It seems to me Lucy Heartfilia is a bit of a fan of Audio Uproar… maybe even a super fan?!"
Lucy turned around and pointed a finger at him, "I am not a super fan!" Natsu responded with a questioning glare. "I may have had your first eps and secretly recorded when you first performed on Fairy Tail's Reunion tour."
"Secretly recorded?"
Lucy sighed, "I wasn't allowed to watch television so when my father would leave on a business trip, I got a portable tv and recorded it on my phone."
"Sounds more like an obsessed fan to me…"
"Hey!" Lucy yelled as she lightly shoved Natsu causing him to rock in place. Natsu responded by chuckling at her.
"Which reminds me…" Lucy turned to look at him again. "Who is your favorite member of Audio Uproar?" Before Lucy could respond, Natsu added, "You promised and be honest."
Lucy sighed and let her shoulders fall. "I always admired the poise and simplicity Jellal brought to the band…"
"But…" Natsu insisted.
Lucy sighed again, "But you were always my favorite, Natsu."
Natsu simply nodded while smile wildly, "So you really are into all that male angst, then?"
"Shut up!" Natsu chuckled again.
"If it's any consultation, you are my favorite member of AOP." Lucy couldn't help but blush and hide her face. "But don't tell Erza."
The two were quiet for a moment before Lucy asked, "Can you show me what you're working on?"
Natsu looked back down at his guitar. "It's not a new song but I haven't really shared it with anyone before, not even the guys."
"Why is that?" Lucy asked quietly.
Natsu shrugged, "I struggled a lot growing up and I didn't have a way of processing it so I wrote this song… it's actually the song I was playing when Makarov found me." Lucy couldn't help but smile at the image. "But it always seems to come back up when I'm stressed or have a lot going on in my mind."
Before Lucy could ask about it, Natsu started singing.
I woke up in a stranger's bed
With pins and needles in my head
And the clock ticking off the wall
Oh, yeah, oh, yeah
I don't even know myself
I wish I could be someone else
But I don't have a clue at all
Oh, yeah
I'm sinking
You're wading
I'm thinking something's gotta give
Wake me up
Say enough is enough
I'm dying to live
Something's gotta give
Oh
Pull me out
Of this sinking town
I'm dying to live
Something's gotta
Maybe I'm just a waste
Filling up the empty space
I've been here way too long
Oh, yeah, oh, yeah
I'm feeling like a nervous wreck
Living on my last paycheck
I'm a cliché in a song
And everybody's singing along
I'm sinking
You're wading
I'm thinking something's gotta give
Wake me up
Say enough is enough
I'm dying to live
Something's gotta give
Oh
Pull me out
Of this sinking town
I'm dying to live
Something's gotta give
Someone please come pull me out
From the shadow of my doubt
Wake me up
I'm falling
Wake me up
Say enough is enough
I'm dying to live
Something's gotta give
Pull me out
Of this sinking town
I'm dying to live
Something's gotta give
I'm sinking You're wading
I'm thinking something's gotta give
So would ya pull me out
Of this sinking town
I'm dying to live
Something's gotta give
Just as Natsu stopped singing, a light laughter could be heard in the air. Natsu and Lucy turned their heads to the right to see Laxus and Mira walking along the edge of the water below them in the distance.
Natsu glanced at the blonde, who was still staring at the couple below. He turned his head back to the pair, "They're adorable right?!"
Lucy whipped her head around to the pink haired guitarist beside her. "Did you just say the word 'adorable?'"
"Yeah so?" he shrugged.
"I just didn't think that word was in your vernacular."
"Okay then what word should I use for them?" Lucy looked back down at the couple and watched as Mira held onto Laxus' arm as the two walked in step. The moonlight shone down on their faces, allowing Lucy to catch glimpses of their smiles. She smiled, "No, I think that's a perfect word for them."
"I'm glad Mira was so persistent, it's amazing how long she has put up with him."
Lucy looked at Natsu confusedly, "What do you mean?"
Natsu stopped playing and glanced over at the blonde, "She's never told you guys the story about how she and Laxus met?"
Lucy shook her head, "I assumed it was through Fairy Tail."
"It's much more than that," Natsu spoke as he moved his guitar to the side. "She tells it much better than I do but Laxus is Makarov's grandson."
"Huh, really?"
"Well, that's why he calls the Headmaster 'gramps.'"
"Yeah but you do that too."
"True, guess that doesn't help. Anyway, Laxus' dad was pretty abusive to him so Makarov took Laxus in and raised him. As you could imagine, Laxus struggled and was constantly in and out of trouble."
"That doesn't sound surprising."
"Mira was an up and coming star and agencies were competing to sign her. Makarov went to a party to try to convince Mira to sign with him but he had a hard time keeping Laxus under wraps. He and Laxus got into a huge spat and ended up leaving before they could talk to Mira… but she showed up the next day ready to sign the contract."
"What? Why?"
Natsu shrugged, "She said the interaction between Makarov and Laxus was truly what a family was all about and she wanted to be a part of a family, not a company."
"That sounds like Mira," Lucy smiled warmly.
"So Mira was the first person to sign with Fairy Tail and she ended up being a big success. Because of that, many other people were signed by Fairy Tail. Laxus pretty much worked at whatever Makarov needed him to be… a guitarist to complete a band, liaison to the stars, security guard…"
"Laxus as Mira's bodyguard?"
Natsu shrugged his shoulders, "Kinda, I guess. He didn't like that word or even the work. He would show up late or not at all just to spite Makarov."
Lucy's shoulders slumped, "But what about Mira?"
"Mira was Mira. She kept going appearing to be as happy as ever like nothing fazed her. Makarov lectured him about it but Mira said it was fine. He had better things to do than to babysit her so she shouldn't be the reason he misses out on life."
"So what happened?"
"Mira kept going on with her life, growing more and more popular while Laxus jumped between different things. Every once in a while, Laxus' current job would make him work with Mira."
"Bet that was awkward."
"Mira would always tell him she saw a spark when she was around him and he needed to open his eyes to the world of possibilities."
"Sounds like fate to me." Lucy smiled at the pair.
"He came up with a million excuses why he would never let their relationship grow… but it wasn't until they first got together she noted they were like lightning."
A squeal drew their attention away from one another and back towards the couple below them. All Lucy could see was the silhouettes of the two but she could see who she presumed to be Laxus, kneeling in front of Mira with his arms extended towards her. Mira jumped forward, tackling the man to the ground and the two shared a kiss.
Lucy's eyes went wide, "Did he just…"
"Looks like they won't only be planning a tour." Natsu chuckled, "Never thought he would ever have the balls to propose but they make a great couple."
Who would have thought, Lucy pondered, the silent, angry guy could fall for the extroverted, bubbly girl. Life is funny that way. Mira was looking for a career and found love… Laxus wasn't even trying to find love, in fact it seemed he was trying hard not to find it.
"Let's go, Luce. We should give them some privacy." Natsu stated as he stood and held a hand out to her. She glanced from the pink haired man to the couple, who was still laughing and kissing on the beach. Her heart was warmed at the sight… two people who shouldn't love one another collided and created this own beautiful and chaotic universe all their own.
She looked back at the man standing in front of her, his hand extended to her implying a world of possibilities ahead. "Yeah, we probably should." Lucy took his hand and allowed him to lift her up from her spot on the ground.
The two walked back to the hotel in silence, both minds racing of the future in store for each of them.
