Kyouya is beating the shit out of a ridiculous hooligan with chains and multiple rings, looking like a joke of a punk rock band groupie.
It is genuinely infuriating because who the hell even let this boy into Kyouya's school? He certainly didn't agree to this new student – who uses dynamite of all things. The only way this student could be more destructive is if he has a rocket launcher tucked away in some pocket of his baggy pants.
And does this herbivore really not know what a belt is? He looks like he's wearing a diaper with his pants that low. Kyouya is just waiting for the boy to trip over.
This is utterly ridiculous.
It doesn't help that the bunny is flailing away in the background, once more half naked. Does the boy have a condition? Is he an exhibitionist?
Kyouya is quite certain both of these herbivores are on drugs.
Then he sees the hitman lounging on a tree branch and everything abruptly makes sense.
"Good morning, Kyouya," Reborn purrs, eyes half-lidded and lazy, unconcerned despite the loud screaming and explosions.
"Is it?" Kyouya sneers as he takes another swipe at the hooligan, this one barely dodged. "Is it really a good morning?"
"Why wouldn't it be?" Reborn chuckles. "Beautiful weather, great company, Fon on a plane far away."
Kyouya stops his charge and turns on a heel to frown up at the hitman in the tree. "Where are you going with this?"
"Oh, nothing." Reborn's eyes skate across the playground and land on a tall figure carrying a baseball bat. "Nothing at all." He slips from the tree branch gracefully and lands next to Tsuna. "Have you met Hayato, Kyouya? You'd get along well if you could stick to the topic of weapons."
"Is this the Cloud Guardian?" Hayato scowls. "He's a maniac."
Tsuna, Reborn and Kyouya, in sync for the first and probably last time, all raise an eyebrow at Hayato. If Kyouya is the maniac, then who made the dozen or so craters in the ground with dynamite?
"Anyway," Reborn hums. "Hayato will be staying with us as Dame-Tsuna's Storm Guardian."
"Storm?" Kyouya asks. He vaguely remembers something in the screens about Storm Flames.
Reborn smirks at Kyouya's response. "Well, that's perfect then. Dame-Tsuna, go grab Ryohei and we'll be in Kyouya's office."
"I didn't agree to this," Kyouya snaps back.
"I just want to make sure we're all on the same page," Reborn says innocently. Or at least as innocent as he can get. "You know, with regards to the Cheat ability and Flames."
Kyouya narrows his eyes but concedes eventually and strides off to his office.
"What about Takeshi?" Tsuna wonders. "Should I get him?"
"He's busy with baseball practice," Reborn says lightly.
"Oh," Tsuna says in shock after Kyouya explained where the ability came from and the basics of it. "I'm so glad it wasn't me," he laughs, a little hysterical. He's already got Reborn to worry about.
Said hitman kicks his feet up from where he's sitting on the couch and places his shoes in Tsuna's lap since the teenagers are all sitting on the ground, with Kyouya the only one on the couch beside him. Tsuna frowns but then rearranges Reborn's feet into a more comfortable position and then leaves it.
Hayato nods slowly. "I've heard rumours about this UMA power…" He yanks out a notebook which he flips through, the book filled with scribbles in some kind of code with lots of dynamite and skulls.
"Is that Windings?" Tsuna laughs. "Still better than comic sans, I guess."
Hayato's head snaps up. "How dare you diss my bro Sans."
Tsuna lights up and flails his hands at Hayato. He doesn't really have friends so he hasn't been able to discuss games with anyone. "Genocide?" Tsuna asks happily.
"Genocide," Hayato agrees with a serious nod.
Reborn blinks. "I hope that means what I think it means."
"I can guarantee it doesn't," Kyouya deadpans.
"Pity."
Hayato and Tsuna give Reborn wary looks while Ryohei looks on, not understanding the conversation.
The hitman smiles back. "Moving on. Everyone call up the menu." He guides them to the page Kyouya found a while back, the one that lists percentages of Flames.
Kyouya scans his own again.
[Flame is an ability that levels up with the daily actions you take.]
[Cloud – 87.96
Mist – 19.30
Sky – 14.02
Storm – 10.19
Rain – 8.57
Lightening – 4.21
Sun – 3.72]
It's barely moved from last time. It must require a large amount of change or perhaps very specific actions.
"These are your Flames," Reborn continues. "All of yours are unlocked because all of you have had near death experiences – which is why it's called Dying Will Flames."
Tsuna leans over to Hayato, his new best friend. "I got shot in the face by Reborn."
"I got stabbed by Kyouya," Ryohei chimes in.
"You're so lucky," Tsuna sighs.
"I could stab you," Reborn offers. "No? Well then shut up while I'm talking."
Reborn goes through the types, lists their appearance, abilities and then what material conducts them the best. He also throws in some vague instructions on how to level up each one since they react to actions people take.
Kyouya narrows his eyes. Sun requires him to care for someone? "How did you get Sun Flames, hitman?"
Reborn smiles. "Because I'm a caring person, Kyouya."
The teen wisely backs down. "How do I get a key to use it?" Kyouya asks instead.
"A key is a sort of like an extension cord," Reborn explains. "It takes the Flames from inside you to a more surface level where it's easier to manifest it. They're very specially made. The Vongola have rings, but since you're all still fumbling around, you can't exactly be trusted with them."
"What do you use?" Tsuna asks.
"Eventually you won't need a key," Reborn says. "You'll still be restricted to conductors – such as Lightning flames through metal – but it shouldn't limit your usage." He holds up a hand and golden flames burst to life.
The kids stare in awe.
Reborn whisks the flame away and lowers his hand. "In more modern times, the show you put on with Flames is a part of the fight." He rolls his eyes. "People swath themselves in bright flames and thinks it makes them intimidating. If you follow the older ways, it means you hide your Flames."
Reborn glances to Kyouya. "Fon, for instance. His opponents would be devoured from the inside with his Storm, but they'd never see a flicker of red. And Verde, he loves thunderstorms because he can direct the lightning with his Flames – hurls it like a javelin."
"Um," Tsuna begins. "Is there any non-murderous uses for Sky Flames?"
"You can fly."
Tsuna eyes go wide. "What, really? That's amazing!"
"So how do I get a key?" Kyouya brings it right back around.
"Become Dame-Tsuna's Guardian," Reborn offers up.
"Or," Kyouya tries. "You could just give me a key – because I know you have one somewhere."
"What are you going to give me for it?" Reborn mocks.
"What do you want?"
"A yacht," Reborn announces without hesitation. "Blindingly bright yellow, with my name on the side. It has to be entirely made of glass and I want it to shoot glitter in a spray outwards when I dock – but the glitter has to be glass as well."
Kyouya blinks. "You want a yellow-tinged glass boat that also shoots shrapnel at people."
"Is that going to be difficult?" Reborn wonders.
Kyouya never thought he'd say this, but he already misses Fon.
.
A/N: This was a boring chapter but the next will just be Tsuna-Reborn fluff.
So I guess it won't be any more interesting…
