Chapter 38
Denny's POV
"What do you mean she's not coming?!" I asked shooting up from my seat.
"Sue said something occurred and Bella refuses to come," Charlie said, coming into the room.
"To bad! She's under 18 isn't she Charlie? Make her come home," I said.
"She turned 18 in September Dennis! You don't even know her god damn birthday! No wonder her mother came to me instead of you!" Charlie snapped.
"She should have never gone to you! I'm her damn father!" I snapped.
"You were never a good one! You cared more of your damn sluts then you did your daughter!" he snapped right back at me.
"I was eighteen years old!" I seethed.
"And you got drunk, and there she was nine months later!" he snapped.
I didn't say anything, I said nothing.
"Our mother and father didn't even know they were getting a grandchild until Renee was seven months pregnant," he snapped.
I was about to speak but he did.
"I raised my niece her whole life because you didn't know how to be a father! What would our mother think if she saw you now?" he asked.
"Our mother never judged!" I said.
"Right hell she didn't! Do you know how much our mother despised Renee?" Charlie growled.
"We were 18!" I said again.
"You obviously didn't remember our mother telling you Renee had to go!" he said.
I heard footsteps and my eyes flashed back to the steps where I saw Seth standing, watching us fight.
"Uncle Denny what you doing here?" he asked rubbing his eyes a little bit.
"He was just here to talk Seth. He's leaving now," Charlie said walking over to his son and glaring at me.
"Like hell I'm leaving!" I snapped.
Charlie shot me another glare.
"Daddy what's hell?" Seth asked.
I snorted and rolled my eyes.
Of course he didn't know what hell was, he is Charlie's son.
"Don't worry about it Seth. It's nothing to concern you," Charlie said running his hand through his hair.
Seeing my brother do that to his son just made me think of all the times Charlie and I had growing up together, as brothers.
Flashback(s)
"Denny your mommy is home!" the babysitter said coming into the room.
I jumped on my feet and ran out of the room and into the main part of the house, searching.
"Hi buddy," I heard my dad say.
"Where's Mommy?" I asked.
He laughed and shook his head a tad. He held out his hand to me and I looked up at him strangely before taking his hand.
We walked out of the main room and into the living room. I instantly saw my Mommy!
"Hi Denny," Mommy said smiling as she held someone, someone I didn't know.
I took my hand out of my dad's grip and walked over to my mommy. I went and sat down on the couch next to her.
"Who that?" I asked.
"Denny this is Charlie. He's your little brother," she said, smiling.
I looked down at him to see his eyes closed, like he was sleeping.
"Is he sleeping?" I asked.
"Oh yes he is. He'll be sleeping a lot for the first few years of his life buddy." Dad said.
"Do I have to share my room?" I asked.
"Oh no! Charlie is going to have his very own room Denny," Mommy said.
"Is he going to take you away from me?" I asked.
"Never! We're going to love you both equally," Mommy said.
End of Flashback
When Charlie and I met Renee, who was my age and he wanted to get to know her. He would never expected he would raise her daughter.
Flashback
"Hi I'm—" Charlie said.
I cut him off and got into the conversation.
"I'm Denny," I said.
She smiled.
"I'm Renee Higginbotham," she said smiling.
"Are you new here Renee? I've never seen you around," I said, grinning.
"Kind of. I moved here in June. With it being August now," she said, smiling.
I liked this girl. She was different and…well she was different.
"Is this your brother?" she asked, referring to Charlie.
"Yeah he is. He's kind of a weirdo, so I think it would be good for you to ignore him," I said rolling my eyes at my brother.
"I am not weird!" Charlie snapped.
"Yeah right! You still sleep with a stuffed toy," I said.
Renee giggled and shook her head as Charlie blushed looking down. I rolled my eyes and scrunched up my nose, what I always did when I got nervous.
"It was nice to meet you guys. Maybe we'll see each other at school," Renee said smiling as she walked off.
When Renee was out of sight I glared at my brother.
"You ruin everything for me," I said.
"What did I do?! All I tried to do was introduce myself! Its all your fault no one likes me Dennis," He said storming off.
"It was not—" I said.
End of flashback
There was so much other times when I did that with my brother, fought about who I was with and how many friends he had growing up, which wasn't much.
The many times that Charlie and I had argued, I think the one when I was 17 and he was 15 was probably the worst of them all.
Flashback
"What the fuck Dennis? You're cheating on Renee? I knew you were never good for her!" Charlie snapped as he walked into my room.
"What the hell Charlie?" I asked.
"I saw your letters Dennis! I'm not an idiot! Who the fuck is Sam?" he snapped.
"She's no one! What the hell were you doing in my things, anyways?" I snapped back.
"It was in my way! They fell on the floor. I had to pick them up didn't I?" he snapped.
"Charlie they weren't even open!" I snapped.
"I'm just an ass to you anyways aren't I?" he said.
"Where did that come from?" I asked.
"Just answer the question!" he said.
"I'm not cheating on Renee asshole! Sam is just a fucking friend!" I snapped.
He didn't say another word, just…kept quiet.
End of flashback.
