I am so sorry, guys, I've been really trying, but it's hard to write with writer's block. I have all of these ideas but I don't know how to write them out and it is killing me and making me procrastinate.
Alright, so, a lot of stuff goes down in this chapter so, pay attention! If I update everyday starting today, I may be finished by Thursday! Wouldn't that be nice? But if I don't finish it by Thursday, which I won't cuz I took so long procrastinating, just a heads up that I will post on every chapter starting now, this Thursday night, I have family coming to town, so I will be unable to update for a least a week+. Please don't kill me, but feel free to leave as many reviews as you would like!
I also want to thank all of you. I have seen lots of reviews and comparing my own reviews that I leave for stories as well, I feel so grateful that almost 75% of you guys leave actual reviews! I mean no offense to you guys who just say 'you're story is awesome,' your reviews are greatly appreciated as well, I'm just saying to thanks to everyone for taking the time and motivation to come up with actual real and rather lengthy reviews, it means so much to me!
Now, for the last couple chapters, I'm gonna try to put in a little extra effort to make them absolutely amazing in technique, style, and overall what happens in general. Enjoy!
Jack woke up to the cold, the darkness, and the loneliness. Of course, he didn't exactly know that he was alone, nor did he care when he woke, but that's just what he noted.
The first thing he noticed was that he couldn't move. He could struggle, but he couldn't move. He must be tied to a chair.
Is this what Elsa went through?
"I have to say Jack, you were much to easy."
He flicked his up, searching around desperately, but no matter what, his eyes just didn't adjust.
"Who are you?" He called out, trying to sound angry.
The person laughed. "Soon."
The person left, and Jack was alone again.
He shuddered, finally coming to terms that he had been kidnapped.
He shuddered, feeling very, very, alone. Is this how Elsa felt?
Jack closed his eyes, but it didn't change his vision in the slightest.
Elsa paced back and forth in the gym, biting her lower lip hard enough to taste a metallic tinge, but not enough to make it bleed.
"Elsa, ye're gonna wear a 'ole in te groun'," Merida told her.
"I can't help it," Elsa threw up her hands, setting her mouth loose on her fingernails.
Merida sighed and went back to reading her book on...archery?
Ever since they had recognized Jack's phone number, the police had sent them back to the other students with no explanation whatsoever.
Merida and her were right, the kidnapper was much too smart. They must have used Jack's phone. How else?
"Elsa, relax, it's going to be-"
"Finish that sentence, I dare you," Elsa, feeling very stressed and high tempered, snapped at Hiccup.
Hiccup held his ands up in defeat. "I'm just saying, you can't do anything now. We just have to wait for something to come up."
"That's just it. How can we wait? Something-"
"Or nothin'," Merida chimed in.
"Or nothing," Elsa continued, "could happen and we still wouldn't be able to do anything. 'It's out of our hands,' well then we need to do something! I can't just stand here while Jack's missing."
"We can't do-"
"I'm with her," Merida stood, and Elsa was grateful for her new friend's support.
"Thanks Merida," Elsa said, looking away a little confused when she said Merida's name in a bit of a Scottish accent. She wondered if it just rubbed off on people.
"So, what do you have planned in your mind?" Hiccup asked.
Elsa smiled. "Glad to have you on board. And, actually, I was thinking..."
Hiccup groaned. "Fine. I'll think of something."
"Thank you!" Elsa said, resuming her pacing.
She looked up at the clock and saw that it was 12:42.
Pacing for what seemed like hours later, she looked back up at the clock.
12:45.
She groaned, thinking to herself about just how long of a night this was going to be.
Finally, Elsa did fall asleep, but when she woke, it was still dark outside.
"Psst! Elsa!" Someone shook her shoulders lightly.
So that's why she was up.
"Merida?" She asked groggily.
"Come on," she whispered, dragging Elsa up.
"'M coming," Elsa slurred, pinching herself awake.
The two girls met Hiccup outside of the auditorium.
"So, what's the plan?" Elsa asked, awake now.
"Plan? We've got no plan. We're just here to sort out a few things."
"But what about-"
"I know you're worried. I am too, but we don't know where he is or who took him in the first place, we can't just leave and expect a miracle."
Elsa shut her mouth, knowing that he was right. SHe felt an incredible amount of guilt. Why did everything seem to fall on her when things happened? She shouldn't have yelled at Jack. But where would he be if she hadn't? Would he still have gotten kidnapped, just like she had?
She would never know and that was what was killing her.
"Okay, so, what do we know?" Elsa asked.
"'At do we know?" Merida asked.
"That the kidnapper has Jack's phone," Hiccup deadpanned.
"Way to make tha' soun' helpful," Merida snorted.
"Well, when I was kidnapped, he said to stay away from Jack," Elsa said, thinking about everything.
"I thought we ruled out that it wasn't Jasmine," Hiccup retorted.
"I agree that she wouldn't go as far as kidnapping someone, but do you know someone who might?"
Meanwhile, back in utter darkness, a fretful Jack was still struggling against the bonds of whatever he was chained with.
The stillness was driving him crazy. There wasn't a soft thud of water dripping, or the sound of footsteps echoing through the halls, it was just dead quiet.
And the suspense was killing him.
"Having fun, are we?" the same person said, a smug tone.
"Oh, loads," Jack muttered beneath his breath, continuing his struggle.
"Even if you do get out, you have nowhere to go."
"Well if that's not optimism, I don't know what is."
What can he say, he was still a teenager. When in doubt, use sarcasm.
"Don't be smart with me, boy."
"Oh, I apologize," Jack said loudly.
He could hear, or maybe it was imagining, the man grinding his teeth together in annoyance.
"You better pray this works. Maybe then you'll remember, Jack Frost."
"Oh good, you know my name. Now can I know yours?"
"You don't specifically know me, boy. But I am sure we will become quite..."
Something warm tickled against his ear and he would have jumped away had he not been bound to the chair.
"...familiar with each other."
Jack tried not to shake, he couldn't help it, he was scared.
Who wouldn't be?
The man laughed. How could he see in this darkness?
"Who are you and why you want 'revenge' on me?" Jack called out.
"Don't play dumb with me, boy," the man hissed.
"I'm not playing," Jack muttered.
"Don't you know? Take a guess, Jack Frost," the man spat his last name, "and tell me who exactly I am."
Jack shut his eyes for a second, then opened them. Looking around, he couldn't see anything.
"I can't see anything," he announced out loud.
"Observant, aren't we?"
He tried to squint his eyes, but like every time before, it was...
Jack's eyes widened and he couldn't help but let a startled gasp escape his mouth.
"Found out now, have we?"
Jack gulped.
"You're..."
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
"So, we also know that this person is hell-bent on revenge against Jack for who knows what. How does that help us?" Hiccup asked.
"I'm thinking. Do you know anyone who holds a grudge against Jack? Like, more so than usual?" Elsa asked, pausing her pacing for a few seconds.
"If they did they hid it well. Jack was pretty well liked by everyone," Hiccup stated.
"Merida, you don't happen to know-"
"Don' look at me, aye don' even know the guy," she held her hands up.
Elsa deflated and sunk to the ground, leaning against the wall.
She searched through her memories. There had to be something.
Let's see, so, the first day, they ran into each other (quite literally, might she add), and then they hadn't really spoken except for...right, she blushed, when she fainted after finding out that she was going to be singing in the winter festival.
She snapped up.
The winter festival!
"Hiccup!" she cried, louder than she meant and making both of the other two jump.
"What, what?"
"Remember at the winter festival? He got punched in the eye?" Elsa asked excitedly.
"Well that sounds cheerful," Merida commented.
"Yeah," Hiccup asked warily. Elsa could see the gears turning in his mind as he registered something.
"Yeah," he repeated, seeming to catch on.
"There does happen to be someone who appears to have a grudge against Jack," Elsa said, continuing. "And his name is..."
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
"...Pitch Black," Jack's voice hardened.
The man laughed. "Well, in a way, I am. We haven't the pleasure of meeting, my dear Frost, my name is Kozmotis Black, pleasure to meet your...acquaintance."
"Under better circumstances, I would say pleased to meet you, but, I'm not."
Kozmotis Black laughed again. Was he acquainted with Pitch? Why was Pitch and this guy so motivated to get revenge on him when he had done absolutely nothing?
"What do you want from me?" he asked.
He heard the man pause.
It was completely dark, and he couldn't see anything. But he could hear a pair of purposeful footsteps coming towards him.
He heard the punch before he felt it.
At first, he was just surprised that Kozmotis had actually punched him, and then he felt the impact of the blow and man did it hurt.
"What the hell?" Jack cried out in shock.
"Don't tell me these stupid lies, Frost boy."
Kozmotis punched him again, this time in the stomach.
Jack sucked in a deep breath but he couldn't breathe. He had knocked the air out of him.
"Well this is going to be fun."
Jack could almost see the malicious smile on his captor's face, but perhaps it was just his imagination.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
(Quick A/N: Please note that Jack is getting beaten, but I am neither comfortable nor talented enough to write about that, so please don't lash out at me for a: skipping out on it or b: it happening in the first place. All will be explained, I promise!)
Elsa, Merida, and Hiccup all walked up to the police for the third time.
For once, Elsa didn't care about all the stares that she was getting. She wouldn't- she couldn't- shy away from them. Not for this.
The main officer stared at her, waiting for Elsa to speak.
Elsa froze for a moment, but then remembered why she was here. She was here because she had an idea of who was Jack's and quite possibly her captor was.
"I think I know who has Jack."
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Jack still couldn't see anything, and when he was getting attacked in the dark, it seemed to hurt even worse.
"Why are you doing this?" Jack asked. His lip was split, his body was sore and he couldn't feel his nose but he didn't think that anything was broken. Why was he sparing him? It was obvious Kozmotis could do a whole lot more than this to him. Something about him sent a shiver down Jack's spine. Maybe it was the feeling that you got that there was nothing that could stand in his way and he knew it.
Either way, it wasn't good.
But Jack couldn't give up.
His world was on fire, but it might have been the pain. The agonizing pain. But it comforted him, in a way. It made him forget why he was in pain. That there was someone out there who hated him so much for reasons unknown to him. He hadn't done anything!
Jack wished he would just slip into unconsciousness already, but he got the feeling that it would be a long time before he got the privilege of sleep.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
"I want a background check on Pitch Black," the main officer spoke to another officer, probably a detective.
After Elsa and the others had convinced him that there just might be something worth looking into with Pitch.
It wasn't much to go on, more of an intuition if anything- and they all know how police feel about intuitions- but it was something.
The detective looked up from a computer that Elsa hadn't even noticed before and they started to speak.
"Pitch Black, background is clean, suspiciously clean, not so much as a comment from anybody, mother died in childbirth, father is..."
The detective gulped.
"Kozmotis Black."
There was silence in the room for a few seconds.
"Damn," the officer cursed.
"What? Who's Kozmotis Black?" Elsa, Hiccup and Merida asked at the same time in some way or another.
"We've run into troubles with him before, but he spent his time, he was free to go. But there was something about him I didn't like. I felt he got away with a lot more than what we caught him for."
"Well that's great. So Jack's been kidnapped by an ex-conman," Hiccup muttered.
"Sort of," the detective noted.
"We don't know for sure, just because this Pitch Black's father is Black doesn't mean that he's been kidnapped by him," the officer pointed out.
"No but it's worth checking out. Let's get some guys to question him," the officer said.
"Alright, move out," they all got up, leaving the trio of friends even more confused than before.
"Officer, can we come?"
Elsa had no idea where the sudden bravery came from, but her eyes widened when she found that her own mouth was the one those words came from.
"No way. You three stay here, where it's safe."
With that, the officer left.
They all looked at each other.
"Where it's safe," Hiccup pointed out.
"Yep," Elsa and Merida said simultaneously.
Hiccup groaned but they all three dashed out of the room in stride, racing after the officer.
Some time, a few colorful truths, and an excellent game of hide-and-seek later, the three has nestled themselves into the back of the officer's truck bed.
Did they know what they were doing? Nope. Did they have any idea what they would say if they got caught? Not a clue. Was this a very stupid and highly dangerous idea and they should have listened to the officer when he said to stay put? Definitely and absolutely.
But were they doing it all the same? That they were.
They peeked out of the truck bed, and silently listened as the officer knocked on a nice enough looking house's front door.
Elsa looked over at Hiccup and Merida, feeling ashamed for the trouble she could get them all into.
What was she doing here?
She was the shy little girl in the practice room, playing piano and avoiding the world at all costs. What did she think she was doing hiding in the bed of a truck and trying to find her friend who had been kidnapped? How did she even get into all of this?
She sighed.
Hiccup gave her a look of reassurance, and she smiled back.
Merida also gave her a smile and she returned the gesture.
She found it funny how in just a few hours, Merida had become part of their group. She hadn't really done too much but she allowed to be dragged into this and seemed to be quite enjoying it.
Maybe she enjoyed having someone other than herself to talk to.
The officer knocked on the door.
At first, no one answered.
The officer pounded on the door then, shouting, "Police, open up!"
Then, the door slowly opened.
Pitch Black stood in the doorway, looking perfectly nonchalant.
"Hello, officers, what can I do for you?"
"Is your father home?"
"I'm sorry, he's away on business," Pitch said.
"I was unaware that Pitch was employed," the officer said, eying Pitch.
"It's bit of, er, personal business," Pitch added.
Elsa narrowed her eyes.
He had scared her that one time when he had chased her out of her practice room, but she could tell that he was lying.
"Pitch, if your father has anything to do with this kidnapping, he could face some real charges. You could be his accomplice, we wouldn't know. But you could be facing some real trouble as well."
Pitch gulped.
"Fine."
They couldn't hear what else they said, but Elsa assumed that he was telling them where Jack was.
"Somethin's not right," Merida whispered in Elsa's ear.
"I know. This is too easy," she whispered back.
Merida nodded and turned back to stare at them.
"Get down!" Hiccup hissed when the officers all turned to head back to their cars.
Elsa peeked up slightly when she heard the truck doors slam.
She froze.
What was Pitch doing in the truck?
Well, obviously, they couldn't leave him, but still. It just had to be this one.
Elsa bit her lower lip, sighing as silently as she could.
Where were they going?
All too soon for Elsa's taste of worrying, the truck stopped and turned off.
"Alright, so in here?"
"Yes," Pitch responded.
"Don't listen to him!"
Elsa suddenly gasped and all three of them rammed their hands to Elsa's mouth.
She hadn't meant to talk out like that!
They heard footsteps coming towards their hiding position.
They were in serious trouble now!
"Alright, how many of you came?"
They guiltily stuck their heads up, heads down.
"All three of you? What are you doing here?"
Elsa was tongue-tied, her face red as a beet. Hiccup didn't look like he was going to say anything, so it ended up being Merida who spoke.
"Ye can't expect us te sit and do nothin', sir," she said.
"Fine. What are you doing here? Don't you understand that you have no place being here and that this isn't something you need to be here for?"
"Aye, sir," Merida responded.
He sighed. "I don't know what to do. I can't take you back."
"Let us stay," Merida suggested.
The officer narrowed his eyes.
He looked bone-tired, like they all did.
Well, except Pitch, who looked...smug staring at them.
"Sorry, it's just that," Elsa surprised even herself by speaking. "We can't stay there. Jack's our friend."
Even though he had never met one of them before.
"Fine. I need you to stay put. Got it? You're going to be in serious trouble when we get back."
"Yes sir," they all three said.
He shook his head, walking off.
They all sighed in relief, climbing into the back of the truck.
"So, what do we do?" Merida asked cheerfully.
"Do?" Hiccup asked.
"Shit!" Elsa cussed loudly.
"What?" Hiccup quickly asked, surprised to hear Elsa cuss.
"We forgot to warn him about Pitch! How he's suspicious! They could be walking in blindfolded!"
"All due respect, shouldn't they know what they're doing?"
"Not if they think Pitch is turning himself in," Elsa said.
"Oh no," Hiccup stated.
"So," Merida repeated. "What do we do?"
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
"What do you want from me?" Jack asked again defiantly, even through his pounding head and screaming body.
"I want to know-"
Something slammed in the background.
Both of them froze.
"Kozmotis Black," someone very familiar said.
The voice.
It was familiar.
But where...?
Jack felt too dazed to think about anything but pain for too long.
Something was wrong. By wrong meaning wrong for Kozmotis. What was going on?
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Elsa started humming to herself, trying to find comfort in something-anything.
Eventually she started to sing the lyrics, hoping that something would get her mind off of things.
She probably looked like a crazy person, rocking back and forth and singing to herself, but neither she nor Hiccup or Merida do or say anything about it.
Perhaps it calmed them, too.
Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree?
I travel the world and the seven seas
Everybody's looking for something
It didn't calm her nerves, but it was all she could do but to keep singing.
Some of them want to use you
Some of them want to be used by you
Some of them want to abuse you
Some of them want to be abused
"I can' stand it!" Merida shouted.
Elsa looked up at her blankly.
"I'm kind of starting to drive myself crazy as well," Hiccup admitted.
"What do we do?" Elsa asked, but she knew the answer as much as they did.
She sang the lyrics silently, in her head and to herself.
Some of them want to use you
They stayed quiet for a minute, looking at each other, as if asking whether or not they were really going to do what they were thinking.
'Don't do it' their consciousness's thought, but as before, they were ignored.
Some of them want to be used by you
"Are we gonna do it?" Hiccup asked.
Some of them want to abuse you
They looked at each other one last time.
This was definitely a stupid idea. A horrible one, really.
But it looked like the thing they were going to do.
Some of them want to be abused
The three friends opened the door together and dashed out of the truck.
Please know that I will be working on the next chapter, I just need time to try and make it, you know, actually good. They might just turn out like this chapter, though. Sorry for the poor quality, take what you can get with my writer's block, okay?
SnowQueenElsaOfArendelle: haha, I know, I'm so evil;P
CupcakeMonkey567: Grace; well, see, Jack is missing, and when they found who the blocked number was, it was-
P.N.4700; *covers Grace's mouth* and we're going to shut up now *fake happiness* ^-^
C.M.567; I'm so confused!
P.N.4700; all in good time, all in good- ack! Grace! Again?! Really!? What is with you and licking the hand thing?!
Grace; *looking smug* in my defense it was your idea
P.N.4700; that I would prefer it if you didn't copy! Ugh, OCs, am I right?
guest muahaha: lol thank you:) and I'm really trying not to rush things but like I said, it's hard with writer's block. And I'm going to refrain from commenting on the whole 'is Jack the kidnapper' thing... ^_^
Michelle-Lee: haha, I burst out laughing when I read that! And thanks, I'm glad to know that the whole transform of the plot is okay with my readers. I can see how it's a bit farfetched so I take no offense to those who don't like it! And they...oh. Haha, didn't think about that one... I saw that and I had a moment where let's just say it was similar to your reaction to the chapter... wait! Aha! Astrid knows, remember? So she told Punzie. There. It's just an explanation that is out of the story... And thank you so much! By the way, I checked out the song, but then I realized that I don't have enough chapters to use another song in, I already have them all planned. Sorry:/
Jewelaria Rosha: Grace; *in a very loud and obnoxious tone* Let's go meet Hans!
P.N.4700; *in a similar tone of voice* Who is this Hans?
J.R.; *face palm* really guys? Really?
Grace *laughs* you kinda have to admit, you brought this on yourself
J.R.; oh whatever. And isn't Grace mad at you?
P.N.4700; she's created by me, so, basically, she does have a bit of my personality. And just because she's mad that I won't start her story doesn't mean we can't get along.
Grace; Actually, I-
P.N.4700; just shut and give me this one
Snowman: Lol, again, laughing really hard here. Though I don't think they'd appreciate being chained together... And yeah, we all feel that way. Except for me cuz I'm laughing at all of your guy's reactions! I'm so evil:) And ssshhhhhhhh...they don't know that yet...THANK you! I know right, it's like- I mean...*cough cough* ahem, yes, I totally see your point. He was kidnapped, and Kozmotis used his phone because it's part of some big- and I'm gonna shut up now. Lol, you sure made yourself a win-win situation there. What's with you and your optimism? As in, lacking any? Anyways...
TheMashedUpSisters: haha, yeah, that's sort of the point. And cuz cliffhangers are amazing but only when they're mine/if they have a following chapter already posted. Otherwise I am really against cliffhangers. And, uh, like I explained, random number that I personally think is really creative, if you look at the letters on a keypad of a phone, the phone number spells out dre-amW-rotg. Pretty creative, don't ya think? :D
disneyobsessionist: ...what? Well, all I got to say is I have officially begun to refer to that story as The Story Of My Life and yes, I highly encourage you to do so:)
AnotherFangirl: I see there's another httyd fan here;) And thanks!
Grace: lol good. Cuz that would be reeeeeeeally creepy if you were ;) And, uh...okay...?
littlebluebirds: aww, thanks! And cool, I can't wait! I always love it when readers of one of my stories check out another one! I suggest The Story Of My Life (even though the title is longer than that) because that's the most recent one and actually has some decent writing quality to it.
Okay, until next time! Btw, I am working on the chapter as we...uh, read...? Anyways, my goal is to have at least one if not two chapter out by today and tomorrow but, we'll see. Later!
