Chapter 39: Let's Eat
As Lucian continued to quietly overlook the repurposing of the factory towards all the necessary areas to strengthen his army from atop the observation bridge, he suddenly felt a familiar yet at the same time altered presence appear behind him.
"Connor," he said turning around to make sure it was him who he sensed behind him. "You're awake," he commented, surprised at seeing him no longer in a coma and knowing that Lilith obviously didn't help him wake up.
"Sure am, how long have I been out?"
"About a bit under two days."
That's not that long! I expected a lot longer after all the easily noticeable things I have seen change since I woke up."
"As the old saying goes Connor, "A lot can happen in a short period of time.""
"Tell me about it," he agreed as he looked out over the area of the factory he was in with Lucian and seeing more comatose people being brought in and heaps of tools along with them.
"Anyway," he said shaking his head to get his mind off that. "Now that I'm awake after having gone through a horrible nightmare," he shuddered. "Is there anything you have for me to do?" he asked rather calmly, yet with an added mix of eagerness and desperation to it.
Taking notice of this, Lucian wondered if he should assign Connor to something since the change in him was significantly worrisome.
Gone was the raging storm of bloodlust and craziness that he constantly displayed before, now it was replaced with a rather calm storm. This made Lucian wonder if the time he predicted was fast approaching. The time for when Connor would become unwilling to bring harm against the creatures of OOO that would then eventually end in his betrayal.
Seeing this predicted outcome beginning to come to fruition, Lucian decided on giving Connor one easy task to test just how deeply the changes in him went.
"I do have something for you to do Connor," which caused Connor to adopt a relieved facial expression upon hearing the "good news". "I want you to go out and resupply our food storage."
"What?" Connor questioned, utterly dumfounded at being tasked with something so miniscule. "Why are you making do something as pathetic as that?"
"Because it's not something pathetic Connor, it is very important."
"How so?"
"Because we are running low on food to give to everyone and are in dire need of a new supply of food," he explained.
"Alright," Connor accepting Lucian's explanation. "So how am I supposed to resupply our food storage? Cause I have no green thumb or herd of cattle ready to be sent to the slaughter house. So, care to give me something to work with here?"
"Haha," Lucian chuckled at Connors humor before answering him. "Yes Connor, I do have a fast way for you to get us some food."
"Great, let me hear it."
"I want you to go take 20 of my conscious followers and go pillage the Breakfast Kingdom," he laughed at that last part, unable to prevent himself from laughing at such a ridiculous name.
"Uhm… isn't 20 people kinda small?" Connor asked, breaking Lucian out of his laughter.
"Connor," he chided, while masking the irk he got from Connor not unquestionably taking the opportunity to indulge himself in the thrill of battle as he always did before. "Why ask something so stupid?" he continued and before Connor could respond. He took to answering for Connor himself.
"These creatures are made out of breakfast material out of all things and so is their entire kingdom. Do creatures like that really sound like a threat big enough to require an army for us to defeat?"
"No," he agreed after taking a few seconds to think about it. "Still."
"Still," Lucian repeated neutral expression, continuing to mask his worries of this more skeptical Connor.
"What if someone powerful like Finn shows up while I'm in this kingdom or they receive reinforcements from the more powerful species of OOO like the Fire Elementals. You said so yourself that I can't hope to defeat him anymore and me along with 20 people don't have too great a chance at winning against a large group of OOOs more powerful inhabitants."
Lucian silently stared at Connor with observant eyes after hearing that, making Connor nervous. Fortunately for him, it didn't last very long.
"What did you go through while asleep to change you so much? Before now, you would without a second thought gladly charge headfirst into the midst of battle without any regards to your own wellbeing. I would even say you had a sort of death wish do to how reckless you were. Yet now, you actually care about your own wellbeing for a change. Which really makes me wonder," he warned while giving Connor an intense narrow eyed look that he instinctively shrunk under.
"How much have you changed from that battle crazed boy I first met?"
Connor didn't answer at first, because he was carefully thinking of what to say. Since he knew what Lucian was implying by asking him that question. After all, how could he forget after what he went through at the hands of Lucian when he first arrived in OOO.
"I'm… still close enough to who I was before Lucian."
"Are you really?"
"Yes," he said rapidly. "Nothing big about me has changed. So there's no reason to doubt my ability to slice and dice."
Lucian chuckled after hearing that as he gave Connor a small unsettling smile, where he then proceeded to walk up to Connors left side and give him a pat on the shoulder. His hand not lifting up from that spot immediately after, just resting there instead.
"Well, then I looked forward to the food you will bring back upon your return Connor."
Lucian then humorlessly watched as Connor jumped from the observation bridge and franticly gathered the first 20 people he got his hands on before he then teleported away with them, despite the fact that Connor didn't even know where the Breakfast Kingdom was. But Lucian trusted Connor would find out where it was located quickly.
For several moments afterwards, Lucian quietly amused himself with the fact that there was no urgent need for food thanks to the large supply he still had and the new continues supply source being put into development in the grassland base.
He thought over how he purposely sent Connor to attack the Breakfast Kingdom with such a small group to test his change in bloodlust by making sure there would be plenty of OOOs pathetic creatures left standing before him to be killed at his hands alone. He even mused over the possibility of Finn indeed showing up to defend the kingdom and how that would most certainly end in Connors death.
For either way, it would be a win in his eyes. Either he successfully reignites the bloodlust in Connor or has the soon to be traitor die at the hands of Finn.
"And you're sure you want me to do this," asked Don John to Princess Bubblegum after being explained her desires involving his unparalleled skill at "changing" a person's mind.
"It's not that I want you to do this," she nodded. "You need to do this."
"Last time I did that I got beat up and thrown into a lantern for years."
"Yes, but that was because you were doing it under unjustifiable reasoning. Now you are doing this not for the petty reason of securing a place of power, but to help insure the cooperation between our people against the dire threat of Lucian and his army."
"And everyone else is ok with this," he inquired. "Because I really don't want to get knocked out cold for doing this again."
"You need not worry about that. They'll come to see the benefit of what is being done here after you are done."
"Hmmm, Alright," he said about to begin the process until he was interrupted by a certain deity crashing into the Candy Kingdom.
"Ach, mein Glub" said a shocked PB after she turned to see the unconscious and badly beaten body of Cosmic Owl.
"By Glob," then shouted a random candy citizen.
"Its Cosmic Owl," cried a Fire Elemental.
"He's been badly hurt," said another random individual.
"Who could have done this too him," questioned another.
With more and more people trying to inquire who good have done so much damage to Cosmic Owl that everyone was beginning to break out into hysteria. Before things could get to out of control though, they were all made to cover their ears by the sound of a loud howl.
Turning to the spot where the ear throbbing sound originated from, they all turned to see Marceline transformed into her Wolf form before transforming back into her regular form.
"When will people learn that crying over something isn't really helpful a lot of the time, unlike actually doing something," she stated to the crowd of people, some of them feeling insulted at being blatantly told such a thing, but she ignored them and continued with what she was saying.
"So instead of crying over this, how about we instead tend to CO so that he'll be able to heal and wake up. That way we can hear from him what happened. Or," she warned as she partially transformed back into her wolf form to the individuals who looked ready to break into hysteria again. "Would you all like to go another round with my loudly trained Rock and Roll howl?"
After being faced with that painfully unpleasant scenario again, everyone hastily opted to take the former option and help tend to CO. Of course though, that didn't mean everyone was now ok. Many of them were still very much shaken at the site of one of OOOs most greatest deity's laying before them looking so utterly defeated. They were just being silent now about the fear that they felt upon seeing this and now feared Lucian greater than ever thanks to him showing that he had the power or someone amongst his army did to defeat one of their respected deity's. A fact Princess Bubblegum knew everyone was feeling quite well, including herself.
This though caused her to reach her breaking point. Seeing that her enemy possessed a level of power that could even bring down someone who was basically akin to a god amongst OOOs people caused her to enter into a state of hysterical fear. She couldn't even imagine how her people who she very much knew weren't fighter material, could hope to defend themselves against an enemy like that. Even with the humans she had on her side and the technological leap they gave to help her defend her people wasn't enough to stabilize her degrading state of mind.
She just continued to slip further and further into fear induced madness, where she desperately looked for anything that could insure her envisioned "Eternal Empire" remained indeed "Eternal".
Forcing herself to turn away from the sight of CO, she turned back to Don John and in an eerily calm tone of voice along with a cold-calculated expression started to talk to him again.
"You should get back to doing what you doing before," she ordered.
"Look Princess," pleaded a concerned and unsettled Don John. "I've had a lot of time to think about what I did to my fellow Fire Elementals years ago while being imprisoned in a lantern for years since I had nothing else to do in there. And I've come to realize what I did was wrong, very wrong. What I did wasn't right then and it's not right now either."
"The only reason I was willing to do it again was because I believed you were right about what you said. But not after seeing this," he said pointing to the sight of Fire Elementals and Candy People working together to help CO along with Solaris's humans and the demons of the Nightosphere.
And for a few seconds, PB seemed to believe in what Don John was saying as well as the look on her face started changing into a more harmonious one. Yet, the return of her cold-calculated expression put an end to that brief change in PB.
"No Don John," she stated turning her attention back to him. "This is only a fleeting moment. Once it is over and everyone's fears and shock of this event start to die down. Their mistrust and ill feelings towards one another will return."
"Prin-," he stopped mid-completion as he fell to his knees in pain and felt his flames surrounding his body starting to grow weaker by the moment. Looking up, he saw PB holding some sort of unknown device that was being pointed at him. She then pressed a button on the seemingly harmless looking device and immediately felt the pain increase tenfold and his flames shrank down to the point that they were almost completely extinguished.
"One of the worst things anybody can do in life when faced with a problem is nothing and that's exactly what you, me, and pretty much everyone else here has done."
"Nothing."
"And as much as I would love for our people to gradually come together and work with each other. We just don't have the time for things to progress naturally like that. Not now, not here, not in this situation where we are faced with a dire looming threat unlike anything since the Lich."
"So, in order for us to insure that there will be a future for our people, certain sacrifices have to be made to insure that future. No matter how unpleasant they may be. Do you understand what I'm explaining to you," she asked, turning off the device on Don John.
After taking a few seconds to recover his strength, he answered her looming question.
"I understand Princess," he nodded in forced agreement, not wanting to go through whatever that pain was again. "I understand completely."
"Good, then you know what you must do to ensure the cooperation between our people lasts," she said handing him a list written on aluminum made paper. Gently taking the list from her, he saw that on the list were written the names of certain Fire Elementals, all of them being those who held sway over significant numbers of his people thanks to the currently scattered leadership plaguing the Fire Elementals. After going over every name on the list, he was shocked that there were even names like the Former Flame King, Phoebe, and even her still unaccounted for brother.
"Why them too," he asked, not needing to explain who exactly he was referring to.
"Because, even though they don't hold absolute influence over their people anymore, they each still hold enough to warrant being added onto the list. Besides, their ill feeling towards me will make them hard to work with, so it's better this way."
As he was about to protest to it, he was reminded what his answer would be when he looked at the "for a lack of better words", torture device resting in PBs hand.
Getting up, he was about to leave until PB told him to wait a second. Turning his attention back to her, he saw her draw a cellphone from her left pocket and answer it. Immediately, he heard screaming and yelling burst forth from the cellphone with PB moving her head away in response before she turned down the output on it.
It was then she started talking to whoever was on the other end, giving brief answers most of the time and asking questions like "How many are there?" and "Who's leading them?" before ending it with the promise of help being sent right away. After hanging up, she gently put the phone away as an unsettling smile creeped onto her face.
"Well, looks like circumstances have changed."
"What do you mean?"
"It seems luck has given me an opportunity to move certain names up on the list."
"Blessed Fire Spirits," internally begged Don John for help.
As Finn and Phoebe just helped finish attending to the still unconscious Cosmic Owl, they were both pleasantly surprised to see Fionna and Phoebus walking up to them.
"Brother," shouted a happy Phoebe as she ran up to her brother, where they engaged in a relieved filled hug.
"I'm so happy to see you're alright sister," said Phoebus, relief filling his voice.
"So you know, I can take care of myself," she stated proudly. "Although, I did have some help along the way," she gestured to Finn.
"Finn," he said letting go of his sister and walking up to him. "It's…been a long time," he said after trying to find the right words and putting his hand out to shake.
"It sure has," he agreed accepting the hand shake and feeling the both of them tighten their grip on each other a bit before finally letting go.
"Hello again Finn," said Fionna walking up to him and keeping her hands behind her back. Everyone easily noticed this and felt the awkwardness that was in the air, even Phoebus who didn't know what it was all about.
"So…how did you come to meet Phoebe's older brother," he asked awkwardly, just trying to find something to move the conversation on with.
"I found him out during my walk in the forest. He looked like he was about to go out when I found him, so I started a fire under him and it helped him to recover," was the short simplified answer.
"OK," he said accepting the answer, deciding not to delve into further detail. The same couldn't be said for Phoebe though.
After going up and thanking Fionna for saving her brother's life, she asked what happened between them out there. Both of their answers was a simple "Nothing", but Phoebe and even Finn suspected otherwise based on the slight blushed that momentarily appeared on their faces.
After that, they all delved into a friendly conversation about how happy they were to reunite and what they planned to do to stop Lucian. During the friendly conversation, Finn could have sworn that he saw Fionna out of the corner of his eye give a slight twitch from the corner of her face during the time she was briefly looking at Cosmic Owl. Yet he didn't have any real time to dwell on that as Princess Bubblegum came running up to them.
"Finn," she said sounding out of breath and worried. "Bad news," she quickly said.
"What is it," he asked.
"It's the Breakfast Kingdom. They're under attack and it sounds like Connor is the one leading the assault."
"Connor," shouted Finn instantly standing up. "I'll stop his put an end to his mad rampages this time," he said with utter determination.
"Not without me you're not," said Marceline appearing from out of nowhere all of a sudden, startling everyone.
"Marceline," said Bubblegum as she forced herself to regain her composure. "Now isn't the time for this."
"What are you talking about?" she stated as if Bubblegum were a complete idiot. "It's the perfect, to allow me to kick Connors butt."
"Marc-"
"I won't hear it Bonnie or from anyone else," she said stopping Bubblegum from finishing whatever it was she was going to say. "No one is going to stop me from doing this."
After a few seconds, Bubblegum just threw her hands up into the air and said fine.
"I'll come along too," said Phoebe, but PB stopped her from doing that.
"You can't go Phoebe. You need to be here to help deal with the hostilities between our people," Bubblegum explained as fact.
"She's right sister," said Phoebus, agreeing with PB. But for the more personal reasoning of using it as an excuse to keep his sister away from such a dangerous situation. After looking at Finn and seeing him nodding in agreement with them, she accepted and agreed to stay to help deal with their respective people.
"Then we should get going," urged Marceline. "Times a wasting."
"At least take some of my people to help evacuate the Breakfast Kingdom," said Phoebus.
"Then we should also take some of the powerful demons of the Nightosphere to. They will help to make things a lot easier," added Marceline.
Finn quickly agreed to it, not wanting to waste any more time and reasoning that taking any of his people would be a bad idea since the Breakfast people would most likely not trust a single human other than himself. Besides the Fire Elementals and Demons he knew were some of the strongest beings of OOO and he could use all the help he could get.
"Alright," he said as Marceline and Phoebus called for any nearby Fire Elementals and Demons to come over. "Are you coming to Phoebus," he asked.
"No," he answered. "I'll stay here and help deal with the more political problems.
"Alright," he nodded as Finn looked to Fionna to say something.
"Don't worry Finn, I won't force you to take me to the Breakfast Kingdom," she answered before he could even hint at what he was going to say.
"Ok," he said accepting her response even though he wasn't going to say anything to her in regards to her wanting to go to the Breakfast Kingdom, but just deciding to leave it at that for now.
With everyone gathered who was going to help save as many people of the Breakfast Kingdom as possible, they all locked hands, tentacles, whatever and teleported to the Breakfast Kingdom.
Once they were gone, Princess Bubblegum focused her attention on the remaining people still at the Candy Kingdom.
"Phoebus," she said focusing her attention on him first. "It would be a great help if you could go deal with your father while I talk with Phoebe."
It took a few seconds, but eventually he agreed to it and left to talk with the former Flame King, with Fionna deciding to follow him. Once they were gone, PB turned her attention to the only one left near her.
"What do you want to talk to me about Bonnie?" asked Phoebe, using her first name since that what they now went by since the incident with the Fire Giants years ago.
"I wanted to talk to you about responsibility."
"Ok," she slowly nodded, not liking the sound of her unsettling tone of voice and what she was saying.
"As you know, we both have the responsibility as rulers of our people to insure a future for them."
"Of course, but why are you bringing that up all of a sudden?"
"I bring this up because there are times where sacrifices must be made in order to insure our people have that future."
"What kind of sacrifices are you referring to?" she questioned as she unconsciously began to form a fireball with her right hand. Fortunately for her, PB didn't seem to take notice of this as she looked far more focused on their conversation to afford taking any notice her surroundings.
"As you know. Certain members of your people don't want to work together with mine nor do they even want to listen to you, their rightful ruler."
"Well, you can't really blame them. We both gave them good reasons to act that way after what we both did."
"Yes, we did," she agreed wholeheartedly. "And I wish we could turn back the clock and prevent ourselves from making those horrible mistakes. That way we didn't have to deal with the fallout from them, especially in a time like this. Yet as we both know, we can't do that."
"We can only make right by our mistakes and work towards making amends with those we hurt Bonnie. Once we do that, they will forgive us in due time."
"Yes, but we just don't have such time like that on our hands right now."
"Maybe, but nothing can be done to change that."
"Actually, there is something that can be done to help us in this most dire of circumstances."
"Such as?" she said with an underlying hostility to her question.
"We can have Don John make sure the troublesome ones "change" their minds to be more align with ours."
"That's not going to happen Bonnie," she rejected as she threw the fireball at her. Intending to knock her out with it, only for it to bounce off of PB instead. That was when the clocking device from the suit Princess Bubblegum had on when she fought Phoebe in the Fire Kingdom deactivated, revealing itself.
"I really hoped you would be able to see things as they are needed to be seen," she said sounding saddened. "Sadly, you don't."
It was that that Phoebe tried to launch another attack by surging towards PB to deliver a fury of punches, only to be stopped by two powerful arms grabbing ahold of her shoulders.
"I'm sorry my King," whispered Don John to her in apology as he began to use his mind control magic on her, causing her to fall to her knees as she fought to resist his influence. Slowly, she lifted her hands to his and released a powerful burst of combustion upon contact that instantly knocked Don John unconscious. Unfortunately for her she thought, her victory was to be short lived as that attack and fighting off the effects of Don Johns magic had rapidly drained her of all her energy. The last thing she saw through blurred vision as things began to grow darker was a disappointed looking PB about to be hit across the back of the head with something by some round looking figure.
"We're here," said Finn just as they arrived at the torn down gates leading into the Breakfast Kingdom.
"And our enemies are having themselves a feast," said one of the Demons as he listened to the continuous sound of screaming Breakfast people.
"That's why we're here to put a stop to that," said a Fire Elemental.
"Indeed," agreed Finn. "Now here's what we're going to do," he said explaining to them what the plan was.
The plan was very simple and easy to understand. It was for everyone to find as many Breakfast people as they could and help evacuate them to the designated safe point several outskirts away from the invaded kingdom along with dealing with bad humans they came across. At that point once everyone was safely evacuated, Finn would teleport all of them back to the CK. Simple and easy would have been the final say, had a certain nag not been hit once they reached the addressing of Connor.
"I'm going to be the one to deal with Connor," stated Marceline.
"Marcy, he's too powerful for you and you don't even know where he is in this whole entire kingdom."
"Not true Finn," she indicated pointing at her nose. "I can easily smell out the scent of his blood, everyone has a unique blood scent."
"Even so, he's still too powerful for you," he retorted.
"Have some faith in me Finn," she said more as a joke, then as a serious request. "I have trained will Solara back in the Humans lands and after what I went through under her harsh training program, I know I can beat him."
"Marcy," he said about to once again tell her to leave Connor to him, but he relented at the last minute when he saw determination and confidence she held within her eyes.
"Alright. Just promise you will run if he proves too much for you."
"Don't worry, he won't," she said as she turned invisible and ran off to Connors location. As she was running, she noticed that there were no humans at all anywhere towards Connors place in the Breakfast Kingdom. Causing her to wonder where was the invading forces. Yet she didn't put much thought into it as she soon arrived to the location of the one who caused the destruction of her home and the disappearance of her father.
"There you are," she quietly thought, still hiding her presence from him. Silently watching him, she witnessed him slice apart a random Breakfast person made of eggs before taking a bite out of the poor egg person and putting the rest of the body in a bag filled with the dead bodies of other Breakfast people. After that, he picked up the bag and started walk around to find more victims.
While he was distracted looking for more people to kill, that was when Marceline decided was the perfect time to strike. Like a snake waiting for the perfect opportunity to kill its prey, she surged forward and attempted to kill him with a slice to the neck using her Ax Bass. Instead, she was met with Connors bag being swung right towards her.
Acting fast, she slid under it and brought the sharp end of weapon up to the bottom of the bag, causing it to rip open and spill all of the bodies held inside it out onto the pancake made floor.
"Not cool," he shouted in frustration. "Do you have any idea how much work I had to put in collecting all that food?"
"I don't nor do I want to know," she said turning visible and feeling disgusted at what he was doing to these innocent people. "This isn't food; this is people you are treating like groceries." She spat at him. In response, he only narrowed his eyes in a glare at her as he entered into a defensive position.
This surprised Marceline since she was used to seeing him always being on the offensive, never had she seen him take a defensive stance before. Not bothering to wonder what the change in fighting style was all about, Marceline decided to take the initiative by putting her Ax Bass back onto her back and making the first real attack.
Marceline charged towards Connor and then quickly skidded into a crouch position where she used the gathered momentum to deliver a powerful uppercut to Connors chin. The attack barely missed him as he quickly bent backwards to see the fist moving above his face. While he was blinded by the fist in front of him, Marceline took the opportunity to send a powerful right kick to his midsection. Blinded by her first attack, he didn't see the second until it was too late.
Connecting to his right side, he was sent flying into a nearby building that created a vicious crash upon impact. Crashing into the building, Connor growled in rage at being tricked like that as he lay underneath the rubble. Then taking a bite out of the rubble he was buried in which was made of gingerbread, he unsummoned his sword and concentrated his TK into both his hands to power them up to being just outside of the range of being one-hit K.O level.
It was then still lying underneath the destroyed building that he slammed both his fists into the ground to send a powerful shockwave towards Marceline that caused the pancake floors to break apart and send the uprooted rocks underneath launching towards her.
Instantly, she jumped backwards away from the shockwave and flying boulders, leaving her wide open for Connor to burst forth from the rubble and deliver his own blow of furious combo punches at her. Each one that connected caused her to let out massive grunts of pain until he finished it was a one final blow that launched her into the ground. He didn't stop there though as he ran to where she landed, intending to punch straight the debris and continue delivering a furious chain of punches until she was either out cold or dead. Scratch that, just dead.
Yet just as he stood over her landing spot and was about to continue with the smack down. A tentacle shot straight through his left foot and into his left shoulder.
"Arugh," he cried out in agony as he stood trapped by the tentacle imbedded in him. *rumble* was the sound he heard next. Reacting to it, he quickly moved his head to the side just in time to dodge another tentacle that went straight for his head. Quickly Connor summoned back his sword to cut himself free, earning a loud hissing sound in response as he jumped out of the way of an entire column of tentacles that shot through the ground before receding back underneath.
"Shit," Connor yelled in frustration as he was forced to keep dodged as more and more spear like tentacles kept popping up out of the ground. He then jumped high into the air and thinking fast, poured a great deal of TK into his sword and threw it straight down through the tentacle that was about to impale him midair. Where it then created massive explosion as it made contact with the ground and let loose all of the TK poured into it.
Marceline was forced from underneath the ground by that explosion as she hastened to recover from the loud ringing emanating from within her ears. Connor seeing her out in the open again, teleported right behind her as he called back his sword and prepared to slice her from behind. Only to be forced back as webbed wings suddenly burst forth from Marceline's back and sliced deep into his flesh, combined with a powerful backwards kick that created the sound of cracking ribs.
Steeling himself from the immense pain he just received, Connor forced himself to grab ahold of the leg used to break his bones and swung Marceline over his head and into the ground. Next he slammed her into a nearby building before ending it by throwing her into a pile of trash bins.
Bloody, beaten, and rabidly fading. Connor knew he had to end this fast or else lose his life. Seeing Marceline get up from where he threw her, Connor used nearly all the power and energy he had left to burst forward in a rabid increase of speed. Before his opponent had any time to react or even process what had just happened. Connor stood before her, with his blade impaled through her chest.
Gleaming in victory, he let Marceline's motionless body fall onto his shoulders as he smiled in self blindness. So self-absorbed in his supposed victory he was, that he remained unware that Marceline's head started moving until she sunk her fangs into his neck.
Screaming in agony at the sudden surprise attack, he instantly felt the effects of what Marceline was doing to him. What little strength he had left was about to be sucked right out of him and realizing this. It created a powerful adrenaline shot of fear that gave me a momentary burst in strength that allowed him to break free of Marceline's grasp.
Jumping backwards to a safe spot out of arms reach, he looked back at her to see her stand in place for a few seconds with the wound he made in her chest before collapsing. He could hear rabid heavy breathing coming from her, indicating that she was still alive. Yet as he tried to walk forward to finish her off, he immediately began to wobble.
Realizing then and there that he had lost too much blood from his wounds and from getting a great deal of it sucked right out of him, he too then collapsed, first on his knees then flat on his face. Whereas he laid still on the grown and that oh sell familiar "Hello Darkness my Old Friend" came back to greet him. His last thought before that sweet state of unconsciousness once again overtook him were that if he miraculously woke up after this, were that he was dead sure it wouldn't be in a nice comfy bed like before.
And there you have it my beloved, another chapter done to add to the list. Welp, Monday is the start of the day of the big Finn Bomb that will end Friday. I wonder if anything attention holding will come from this week long marathon of new episodes. Well, we will find out soon of course. Guess, if not. Then…I don't know. I don't want to think about that. Anyway, I hoped you all liked this chapter and like always. Please review and tell me what you thought of this chapter. I could really use it right now.
felipe666: Oh there's hope, never doubt the power of our heroes as Marceline just showed us.
dfinkel70: Haha, that's pretty fun man, but yeah. She will never change. I'm holding out, though for how much longer is anyone's guess. Sorry it isn't too reassuring man.
EliteSlayer103: So true, but most people think they are immune to corruption and very few truly are.
gamelover41592: Yup and thanks man. I really wish I wasn't
zachsaur94: I do continue to hope that Flinn returns, but at some point. It becomes impossible to keep that hope alive if not strong. I'll continue hoping the writers bring back Flinn, but sadly I don't have much faith in them anymore.
Legionary Prime: Yeah, OOO is doomed just yet. About the enjoyment part, I wonder about that. Do I really enjoy writing about a show that created powerful happy feelings in me, then stabbed them, revived them, stabbed even harder next time and never stop twisting the knife after that? It's hard to say.
Ventus Uzumaki: It sure is. Haha more, watching more is what caused all this in the first place. Oh well, poison can become medicine.
Attackme: Thanks, I really do need to take my time and recover.
Fiery Crusader: Very true, I can see him narrating this as well. Too bad Moe never thought he needed to obey that lesson. Welp, Hoots made me hate CO even more, biggest hypocrite in AT and screw his romance and screw Jake too. Way to encourage Finn to do something again that caused him intense emotional pain the first time. Just glad PB is going down it seems. Thanks Gunter.
OMAC001: Unfortunately, I'm an all or nothing kind of person. I can't write this without looking back at the cannon for added inspiration.
Rolirit: Well, guess we're kindred spirits in a way. Well, I am aiming to finfish this, but I can't force myself to do it quickly. That would feel like such a disservice to all of you. Because forced writing is bad writing and you all deserve better than that. Thanks for the support man.
The Glorious Lich King: Yup, I'm trying. There is a lot, but that doesn't mean it's a good thing. We'll just have to wait and see. Thanks for the support and I hope to hear from you again this chapter.
Ooobserver: Indeed, we can do that and branching out doesn't hurt, I have been doing that and I really love Steven Universe. No unnecessary drama filled soap opera crap there with a good healthy romance between Steven and Connie to boot. Thanks man, hope the buildup paid off a bit.
Broken In7: Glad I'm not alone, even though it's a sad thing to be together in. Glad you still like my story though my friend. I am aiming to complete this and I will try to make it through.
Writingsterner: Neither do I, after all. I'm making up this story as I go.
Like always, I hope you all enjoyed this chapter and please review. I really appreciate it when you do.
