Chapter 37: The Connection
Peter was sitting on a stool in the kitchen beside Bucky, both of them watching Steve cook like it was the most interesting thing going on… Well it was but it was still a sight to see, Captain America making scrambled eggs and pancakes.
"Did you know that Steve could cook so well?" Peter glanced at Bucky.
"Yeah, why else do you think I let him crash at my place so many times? My mom loved the break." Bucky smirked.
"Funny, just for that. No pancakes for you." Steve pointed his spatula at the other super soldier.
"What? Awe come on Stevie, you know I was kidding." Bucky tried to backtrack, Peter couldn't help but laugh at the scene of the Steve rejecting Bucky of his pancakes and Bucky almost begging for him on his knees for him to reconsider.
A slow pain started up in his gut, at first he thought it was from laughing too much but it started to burn after he stopped laughing. He gasped for breath, hand clutching his stomach. The pain was only growing; it felt like it did when the Green Goblin had stabbed him. Peter gasped again and pretty much fell out of his chair; thankfully he had enough sense to fall towards Bucky.
"Whoa there lil' Spider, you okay?" Bucky asked, hands going up automatically to hold the teen.
"It hurts…" Peter hands scratched the fabric of his shirt over where the pain was emitting.
"What's wrong, what happened?" Steve rushed over so he was on the other side of the stool the teen had been sitting on.
"My stomach, like I've been stabbed again…" Peter gasped out; Steve ripped the fabric of Peter's shirt while Bucky kept a firm hold on the teen to stop him from falling.
"There is nothing here…" Steve reported after searching the teen's torso.
"Uh… Lil' Spider… I think you're starting to glow… Steve why is he glowing?" Bucky asked, freaking out.
He was right; the teen was outlined in a golden light.
"Pete… You're going to be fine, okay?" Steve cradled the teen's face in his hands softly.
"Okay… Okay… I feel kind of weird though…" Peter trailed off as his eyes fluttered shut, distantly hearing Steve and Bucky talking to him but he couldn't see or hear them anymore.
Peter's eyes snapped open, but he wasn't in the kitchen anymore. He was standing on some deserted, dark and barren looking place. It must be a planet because two moons were in the sky above and he knew that was not normal on earth. He turned around slowly, taking in everything but something caught his eye. Someone more like it, an unmoving someone whom had an all too familiar green, gold and black armor on along with long greased back black hair.
"Oh shit, LOKI!" Peter raced towards the fallen form of Loki. "Loki, oh god! Please be okay!"
Peter skidded to a halt by Loki's body and he fell to his knees. His skin was grey and there was blood seeping slowly from a wound in his stomach.
"Nonononono." Peter gasped out as he quickly applied pressure on the wound.
"You can't die! You promised me you would come back alive! You… You are like an older brother to me! You even made nice with the Avengers, which takes some doing after New York and everything! You were there for me for everything even when I hated you! You healed my friends just because I asked you too! You were supposed to come to my high school graduation. You were supposed to laugh at my lame gown and hat and maybe pull out some magic to make the ceremony less boring. You were supposed to be there for when I moved out for college. You were supposed to be there for my college graduation! You were supposed to help me plan some magical way for me to purpose to Gwen! You were supposed to be at my wedding! You were supposed to be there during and after Gwen and I became parents! You were supposed to be there! Not dying here on some forsaken planet alone! You understand me? So don't… Don't be dead okay! Just don't be dead! I love you big brother… Please just… Don't be dead!" Peter was sobbing openly by this point.
"I see that I made the correct choice." A unfamiliar voice rang out, looking up through tear filled eyes Peter made out an older man in Golden Asgardian battle armor, gold eye patch and huge specter floating above the two.
"Choice? Who the hell are you?" Peter snapped, rubbing his eyes free of tears, not caring that he was smearing blood on his cheeks before he reapplied more pressure to the wound on Loki's gut.
"I am Odin, the king of Asgard." The man said regally.
"Odin huh? I've got a bone to pick with you, but first and foremost… You are a bastard." Peter stated simply, not caring who he was insulting.
"Hm, you have spirit." Odin chuckled.
"Damn right I do, now tell me about the choice you made or save Loki. I rather the latter but either will work right now." Peter snapped.
"If Loki lives or dies, that is up to you. When I banished Loki to Misgard, I scoured the planet for someone who I knew would help change Loki… That someone is you Peter Parker. When he arrived, the bond was formed and that is why he found you, but slowly the bond started to fade… Until you both became closer to one another and it was strengthened. Now it is so strong that you can feel each other's pain when close to death." Odin explained.
"Great, well that's just fabulous. Thanks for explaining all that magical bond stuff, but I just want to know if I can save his life." Peter looked down at the unconscious God beside him.
"Yes you can if that is your wish." Odin chuckled amused.
"Well that's my wish. I want Loki to live and be happy because damn it he deserves it." Peter swore and Odin nodded.
"It will be done… It has been interesting meeting you Peter Parker." Odin started to fade.
"For the record. It's Peter Parker-Stark." Peter called after Odin who just nodded before he disappeared and slowly the wound on Loki's gut started to disappear and color came back into Loki's skin.
"Thank god." Peter sighed in relief as Loki's eyes opened and he stared up at the teen confused.
"Peter?" He inquired.
"You're going to be okay, just live and come home." Peter grinned, noticing that he was started to glow like he did when he first came to this planet.
Before Loki could say anything Peter disappeared and the teen sat up gasping. He looked around to see he was lying on the couch in the common room with Bucky, Steve, Bruce and Tony crowded around him concerned.
"Oh that was trippy." Peter groaned, holding his hand to his head.
"What happened Pete? Are you okay?" Were the general questions he was being asked all at once. Peter sat up and took a big breath before telling them what happened.
"Well Lil' Spider, if something normal ever happened to you I think I would be worried." Bucky laughed.
"I feel like we should run some tests." Tony muttered to Bruce who nodded.
"I can hear you." Peter shot them an amused look.
"We know." Tony smirked back.
"Are there any pancakes left Steve?" Peter asked hopefully.
"Of course, you can have Bucky's share." Steve said cheerfully.
"Awe Steve, still?" Bucky called after his friend who went to get the pancakes for Peter who was now laughing at the two. He just hopped Loki was alright…
Minutes later found Peter munching happily on a plate of pancakes; Bucky was sitting beside him pouting about his lack of pancakes. The teen had to fend off the soldier to stop him from eating his food.
"Turn the TV on… Right now!" Clint announced as he and Natasha came rushing into the living room of the common floor.
"Channel 551 Jarvis." Natasha gave more direction as the TV flicked on.
"Whoa!" Tony breathed out as a shot of Greenwich, England appeared but giant black sort of ships were invading it.
"How much do you guys want to bet that Thor and Loki are down there?" Clint asked as lightening flashed from a part of the battlefield.
"There he is… Should we go help or something?" Peter asked looking around.
"Uh… I think they have it under control…" Bucky pointed out, the attention was drawn back to the TV screen as the huge ship crashed to the ground in some sort of huge hurricane before it disappeared completely and the battle ended.
"So… Now we wait until they come back?" Bruce asked.
"Guess so…" Tony agreed.
"So… Are you going to eat that?" Bucky asked, going for Peter's final pancake.
"…You can have half." Peter agreed.
"Yes!" Bucky grinned.
"Don't encourage him Peter." Steve shook his head as Bucky and Peter ate their halves of the pancake with huge grins on their faces.
"Is this still weird?" Clint asked Natasha.
"Still weird." Natasha agreed.
