An Unburdened Fury

Chapter 36: Judgement Day

Zangya woke up from her sleep with a shudder. The hairs on the back of her neck stood up. The atmosphere felt wrong somehow like something awful was heading their way. She quickly put on a robe and headed out.

It was probably just a bad dream. It's not like she ever remembered what happened when she slept. Yeah, that had to be it. She'll just walk around a little bit, clear her head, and go back to sleep. It was calm, warm night. A tad too peaceful for her liking but she chalked it up to still not being used to the idea that Bojack wasn't around anymore.

Unconsciously, her power rose in anticipation. Of what, she didn't know. She grimaced as she headed out the door.

Zangya stopped mid pace. Kogu was close to the shoreline in his combat gear. That wasn't weird normally but with her unease, it was a coincidence she didn't want to ignore.

"Hey, dumbass!" She yelled out with all the subtlety of a hammer. "What are you doing out here? And what the hell's with the sword?"

The swordsman made a rude gesture at her. She sighed and flew next to the man.

"You gonna answer the question or what?"

He thought on it for a few moments. As her patience thinned however he spoke. "You know that feeling of dread you can get out of the blue sometimes? The one with no reasonable explanation?"

Zangya nodded slowly. So her instinct was right, there was something strange happening. The horizon began to brighten as morning drew closer.

"I have this odd tingle in the back of my head. It feels like something is burrowing in there but I've been numbed to it. Understand?"

They stayed quiet for several seconds as a strange thought popped into her mind. It was far too early for the sun to come up, wasn't it? She looked to the source of the light. Kugo pulled out his sword.

"Something tells me that this isn't a coincidence."

Before they knew it, there was a great crash barely fifty feet ahead of them and the impact blew them away. Zangya rolled with her momentum and flipped back onto her feet.

A golden light streamed from the crater and Zangya felt a vice take a hold of her heart. She knew what- who- that was. Heavy boots lazed their way out of the dust cloud and an ever familiar Saiyan was revealed. The aura around his golden form was active, a clear sign he was prepared for a fight, but his face was flat. She might even say bored if she knew him better.

"You know there's no point in resisting."

'Welp.' She powered up as Kugo abruptly transformed. Why couldn't he have picked a better time to show up? Dying in her current dress was undignified! She saw Bujin land beside her in the corner of her eye. It was clear he was fast asleep just now as he was only in his underwear.

At least she'll have more dignity than him. Broly crossed his arms. Everything about the way he held himself said they were no threat to him. Frankly, she was inclined to agree.

"You can calm yourselves. I'm not going to kill you..." His eyes narrowed. "...Yet."

Kogu scowled. Bujin blinked out the grogginess in his eyes and nearly slurred his response. "That doesn't really do much to reassure us."

Zangya couldn't read the scarred man and a thousand questions were desperately waiting to be asked. However, she wouldn't be the one to break the silence. No way in hell would she take an unnecessary risk like that. Hopefully, the other two were smart enough to realize the pragmatic course-

"What brings you here, Broly?"

Fuckin' hell, Kugo! No, wait, it was fine. It was fine. It's clear he wants something from them which meant they had some leverage...maybe. Probably not. If only this was in the morning, she might've been thinking clearer.

"I have questions only you three can answer."

The Galaxy Soldiers looked at each other for an answer but none was forthcoming. They had pretty much agreed to stay out of the Saiyan's way after the fiasco that was the last time they met so it was strange that he was coming to them for anything. Broly raised a brow at their apparent confusion. For whatever reason, Bujin raised a hand and all eyes fell on him.

"Uh, what led you to this conclusion?"

A few uncomfortable moments of silence passed.

"Someone contacted me with very intimate knowledge claiming to be from the future and they pointed me to you." The tension was suffocating. Zangya knew the moment someone moved wrong, all hell might break loose for them. "I need a name."

"Broly..." She started hesitantly. She was essentially handling a live bomb right now. Her mouth was dry. "We don't know what you're talking about."

That was the wrong thing to see as Broly's face turned murderous. The power that exploded from him pushed the Galaxy Soldiers back several feet. Bujin was bowled over completely.

"I've tolerated your presence this long. Do not burn your good will by lying to me."

Bujin raised his hands in a placating manner as he rose to his feet. "Broly, we're not trying to trick you nor are we being dishonest. We do know a lot of confidential knowledge from pillaging the P.T.O. so maybe if you tell us what the information is about, we can help you out."

The Saiyan looked to really think about just killing them off right then and there but he calmed. "It's about my time in the South Galaxy. And, no," His tone shift demanded no argument on his next point. Not that any of them would. "You will not get anymore details than that."

The 'uh' that followed raised some hairs on the back of her neck. That wasn't a good sign. Truth was, as far as she was aware, there wasn't any info on the Saiyan other than a distress signal from the South Galaxy and observations from the failed attack against Bojack. She could tell he wouldn't be satisfied by that answer.

Bujin told the man as much. Broly stared at them for too long for her taste.

He briefly thought of torturing them for the information but he lacked the finesse for such a thing. He'd more likely kill them than anything else and that would defeated the point of this whole thing. The main thing was that he was inclined to believe them regardless. They knew his capabilities and they were not so stupid as to stand against him.

If they were telling him the truth, he didn't see many avenues for cutting off the Android problem without being around when they show up. His best bet would be to stick with the Galaxy Soldiers. Unpleasant was an understatement for what he thought of that plan but no others made themselves apparent. His thinking was interrupted by Kogu.

"What did this supposed time traveler tell you besides the information about you?"

"I was given a timeline." He relaxed his arms and let them drop to his side. "Six months from now, some things called Androids show up. Within twenty years, they take over the galaxy and you're among the first to meet them. You could say I'm being proactive regarding them."

"I don't trust you three but I doubt you'd lie to me." He looked at Zangya. "I'm temporarily accepting your offer. If the Androids show up, you're all good. If they don't..." There were audible pops as the Saiyan tilted his head to the sides. "I'll have to vent some aggression."

"It seems unusually noble of you to want to eliminate a threat to the galaxy like this." Remarked Bujin. In the time they've known the Saiyan, he was seemingly interested in only his self preservation. Some might call that contradictory given his thirst for combat.

"I don't see what's so noble in preventing your own death but sure."

The Galaxy Soldiers looked at each other in shock. If something could kill Broly, what chance did they have?

Their alliance was predictably uneasy in the first month. It had gotten better in that the crew had become more comfortable talking with each other when he was around but the Saiyan remained standoffish whenever that occurred. Any attempt at conversation, rare though they were, was quickly rebuffed by the scarred man.

There was the matter of bedrooms as well. The ship was supposed to comfortably hold a crew of six but in reality that meant two per bedroom and one was neighbor to the Saiyan. Zangya demanded a room to herself but Kogu and Bujin would only agree to it if she took the one next to Broly. It was through grit teeth that she agreed.

One thing Kogu noted after about a week was just how awkward he was. Their previous meetings were brief, minutes at most, so it wasn't something that reared its head before but now, it was impossible to avoid how socially lacking the Saiyan was.

The next five months stretched ahead impossibly long for the Galaxy Soldiers if this was how it was going to be.

As for Broly, he was itching. Being around so many people for so long made him uncomfortable. It'd be so easy to just make them go away.

But his self preservation instinct was strong and his boredom stronger still so they stayed.

Surprisingly, The Saiyan had put no restrictions on the Galaxy Soldiers. They were free to do what they had been doing previously only with a time limit and a sword above their heads. They tried not to think about it.

Oddly enough, it was only in the second week that all four were in the dining room for a meal together for the first time. The trip for the next planet was longer than previous so they were forced into it if they didn't want to go hungry. Together was a strong word for the gathering as Broly sat at the head while the Galaxy Soldiers ate at the other end.

They stared with wide eyes as the Saiyan completely devoured everything laid out in front of him. It was enough food to feed the three of them and then some and the raven haired man consumed it like his mouth was a black hole. He looked at as he felt their eyes on him.

Kogu and Zangya looked down quickly enough while Bujin froze like a deer in headlights.

"What?"

"Do you always eat like that?"

Broly looked down at what remained of his meal. One could easily compare his dining habits to those of a wild predator. He saw nothing wrong with it of course. He returned his bored gaze to her.

"Yes."

"Huh, so, uh, do other members of your race eat like that too or is this unique to you?" His eyes narrowed at the question's implication and the Hera waved his hands around in fear. "I don't mean anything rude by that! I'm just curious!"

He debated answering the question as he didn't really feel like talking nor did he want to invite conversation. He doubted any of them would be ballsy enough to demand he answer it either. He had a feeling however that this would come up again in the future and that possibility annoyed him more since he couldn't kill them and he didn't trust himself to only just maim them if he did put hands on the trio.

Resigning himself to answering, the Saiyan swallow his current mouthful. "My father and I ate like this every meal. It's just how Saiyans eat food. As a warrior race, our power demands massive appetites." He took another large bite of his dinner. He shrugged as he spoke his next words through a mouthful of food. "That's wha' 'e tol' me a'yway."

A thought seem to strike Bujin as he put a hand to his chin in thought. "Odd, even the strongest of our race never needed so much food. I wonder why?"

"I thought you were the smart one, Bujin." Zangya gestured at the diminutive Hera as if the answer was obvious. "We're not a warrior race so we don't need the extra food."

"True but we're pretty powerful yet we don't eat massive quantities of food. Maybe our digestive system is just extremely efficient?"

Broly'd be lying if that didn't surprise him. He assumed that they were due to their relatively high power levels compared to the rest of the galaxy. The duo continued their back and forth and the swordsman joined in a few minutes later. Their conversation faded to background noise as he continued devouring his meal.

At least they left him alone

A month in, Zangya was suddenly woken up by a strange series of sounds. They were muffled but it was clear that it was blunt force causing the noise.

'Who the hell is up this late?' She thought with a scowl as she listened closely. It was coming from Broly's room. She wanted to ignore it then but...well, she was curious. The guy was an enigma and nobody knew him past his name and heritage. This might shed some light.

She tiptoed to the wall and put her ear to it. The earlier sounds had ceased and they were replaced by...something else. She couldn't tell as the walls were too thick. Maybe if she moved to his room's door, she could hear clearer. She blinked at the thought. It was pretty much suicide if he caught her. He could probably feel her moving around too if he was awake.

But she could hide her energy pretty well. Enough that he didn't know it was them when he came to confront them on that one planet he ruled. Was it worth the risk?

Eh, screw it.

She closed her eyes for a moment and breathed out. She felt her power leave her with the air in her lungs. It was disquieting knowing how much weaker she became whenever she hid her ki like this but the benefits were really useful in situations where someone could detect ki.

Like this one for example. With a quick covering up with her robe, she floated out of her room. With the relative thinness of the doors, she didn't want to risk him hearing her tiptoeing. Zangya pressed her ear to the door.

There were sounds of struggle and he was talking to himself amidst them. She could only catch a few words above the noise. Nothing that be properly interpreted in any meaningful manner. She focused as much as she dared. There must be something she can get!

Silence abruptly filled her ears.

"Why am I like this?"

That...was not what she expected. This was the strongest guy in the galaxy and he sound almost regretful about it. Why? She almost missed the footsteps coming to the door.

She quickly floated over to her door. She didn't have enough time to actually enter so she positioned herself as if coming from the restroom. The Saiyan stepped out of his room, his skin pallid and with a light sheen of sweat. He looked at her and she found herself frozen on the spot.

'Stay calm, he doesn't know!'

"Why are you awake?"

She put a more confident facade. It's not like someone, who has nothing to hide, would be nervous of such an innocuous question. "Uh...bathroom?"

'Real convincing there, idiot.'

He grunted in response and moved passed her. She let out a breath she didn't realize she had been holding. That was stressful. He stopped right behind her.

"Did you," He paused. "Hear any strange noises?"

She looked back, her mask now shaky. "No." They stood there for an unnerving amount of time before the Saiyan walked away. Zangya leapt into her room at the available instant and tossed herself onto the bed.

That was too close. Who knows how violently Broly would have reacted if he knew she was there? It was a difficult task to go to sleep again that night as one question kept repeating itself.

Why was he like that?

As the novelty of the situation wore off, the next couple months seemingly flew by. The Galaxy Soldiers pillaging of the North Galaxy gained a new life and they became more bold with the Legendary Super Saiyan in tow. As recognizable as they were, Broly was a mythical figure in the P.T.O. controlled regions and once someone recognized him, they rolled over.

It helped that the Saiyan immediately sought out the strongest warriors on each planet. When asked, he would say it was in search of the Androids but that was an obvious lie to anyone who knew Saiyans. No one called him out on it. Why he would lie was anyone's guess.

Bujin thought the man's unique transformation probably had some drawback he didn't want them to find out about. Kogu was inclined to agree. Zangya personally believed there was some shame involved but regarding what she had no clue. For Broly, it was just so he could stretch his legs without killing Bojack's crew. Kami knows they were like wet paper to him when he really cut loose.

Their increased boldness extended to the Saiyan himself. Well, the woman's did. The other two were still avoiding him like the plague. It didn't help.

'...The domestic Quico is of the order Cuaribo and this remarkable creature stands as a prime example of...'

Broly was only half paying attention to the nature documentary that played on the monitor in the rarely used recreational room. The Saiyan sat in a couch that was too soft and leaned back just a bit too far. It was too late in the night to care. He had trouble sleeping so he just came here and started absentmindedly going through channels and settled on this particular one.

"Broly?"

He let out a surprised cry that didn't befit him at all and nearly gave himself whiplash as he turned to the voice. There a scared Zangya stood as she stared at the glowing orb of power pointed at her face. The Saiyan quickly calmed and returned to his original position once he realized it was just her.

Completely disregarding what just happened, Broly flipped to another channel.

"What are you doing here?"

Zangya blinked a few times idly wondering if what just happened did in fact occur. "I was just going to watch some TV." The Saiyan raised a brow at her and she felt the need to explain. "It's a nightly routine. I tend to fall asleep later than the guys and it's just boring waiting around in the darkness of my room so I come here."

The raven haired man just flipped another channel and she frowned. She didn't expect him to care but react damn it!

"Don't even know why I said that." She mumbled. "Not like you give a shit." Nothing from the man.

Broly had thought ignoring her would make her go away but that plan went right out the window when she sat down next to him. He gave her a look that told her just how much she shouldn't do that. Apparently, she decided to adopt his plan in retaliation.

"What are you doing?"

"My routine."

'I'm not dealing with this.' Was his conclusion as he turned his attention back to the monitor. Now it was some cooking show which he promptly changed. Now it was some sort of combat sport which looked tolerable. A few minutes passed in which two men just tossed each other around a ring with annoying commentary from some off screen voices. Who watches these things?

With the two mutually ignoring one another, a sort of awkward peace fell over the room. Sure enough, after about an hour Zangya began to doze off and so walked off to her room. The Saiyan had gotten used to her presence so the sudden lack thereof was uncomfortable. He went to bed soon after.

A week later, he couldn't sleep once more. Flashes of a potential death stopped his eyes from closing and he found himself in the recreational room again. Zangya was surprised to see him once more. She had thought that he wouldn't come here again after their previous encounter but she shrugged it off.

"Not gonna question me this time?"

Her brow rose at what he said. "What, you like being interrogated?"

Broly refused to dignify the question with a response and went back to the TV. Zangya sat down next to him and the two pretended the other didn't exist once more. The proceedings went as it did before with the Hera leaving first before the Saiyan followed.

Her routine eventually became their routine though neither acknowledged it as such. At first, he was simply convinced that this was the most effective way to help him sleep but even when the troubles had waned, Broly still came. He found himself wondering if this was some strange brain washing ability of the Hera.

'This wouldn't be such an issue if she wasn't always here.' He thought as the Hera dropped next to him again, closer than he'd like. The smell of hot food hit his nostrils though and the the raven haired man found himself wanting. A sandwich appeared in his vision.

"Here."

Broly looked at her with suspicion as he took the offered snack. She rolled her eyes as she bit into hers. While he wasn't hungry, he could eat. There was the paranoid thought in the back of his head that the food could be poisoned but he considered it a nonissue. There was nothing on board and he would kill everyone before it could kill him.

"I figured you might want to snack on something."

"How'd you know I was here?"

She swallowed the mouthful she had. "There's a...heaviness to the air when you're awake. I felt it and made an assumption." She shrugged as she grabbed the unguarded remote and switched to a galactic news channel. "If I was wrong, I had breakfast for tomorrow ready made."

A twinge of annoyance hit him when the channel changed. "I was watching that."

"Really? Before I gave you that sandwich, it looked to me that you were staring into space. Metaphorically."

He glared at her but she seemed to blow it off. Deciding it wasn't worth the effort, he mumbled some vague threat as he began eating the food in his hands. The edges of her lip twitched up at that.

Since that night where she eavesdropped on...whatever was happening with him, she had been looking for an in with the Saiyan. Whatever it was seemed like a personal problem so she had no illusions about the possibility that he'd take his issues to the grave but she couldn't deny that she wanted to know. Getting close to the guy was the best way to do that since she could only listen in on him so many times before he found out and maim her or worse.

That this whole situation just fell into her lap was nothing short of a miracle. The moment that just occurred showed that he was warming up to her.

'Well, warming up is a strong word. Thawing is more like it.'

It felt manipulative but she genuinely wanted the Saiyan to be part of the team since he did save them from Bojack even if out of self interest. She didn't realize how much time she had spent ruminating in her thoughts as she was suddenly taken out of them by a yawn. Her eyes had become heavy as well.

'I'll just take a quick power nap before I head to my room.'

Broly had his attention taken from the monitor, which was playing some sport called 'boxing' which utilized an oddly familiar fighting style between combatants, by a weight on his shoulder. He looked and his face became heated at the sight of a snoozing Zangya. The warmth was unexpected and he was going to just shove her off but he stopped himself.

When was the last time he had any physical contact outside of a fight or a slaughter? It was when he held her hand. Before he turned into a Legendary Super Saiyan for the first time. The head on his shoulder was comforting even if it caused blood to rush to his face.

Never before had he realized he needed something like this until he had it.

'I'm a monster with no reason to exist. I shouldn't need this.' He tried to argue but he refused to move lest he stir her. He sat still for who knows how long but eventually he was starting to succumb to slumber as well. Maybe...maybe if he allowed himself this, he wouldn't want for it again.

Broly stood, slowly so as to not rouse Zangya, and put his arms under her. The walk to her room was uneventful save for the war going on in the Saiyan's head. None of this should be happening. He should have avoided that room the moment she revealed her routine.

He set her down on her bed and she mumbled something unintelligible in her sleep. He could reach out and just snap her neck if he wanted. End this nonsense right here and now but he didn't.

He just turned and headed to his room and never went back to the rec room again.

The fifth month rolled around and the Galaxy Soldiers were pillaging another world. Broly had taken to accompanying them on their rounds lately and they were only now getting used to it. To Kogu, it was almost like the times they had before they were imprisoned though Broly was less sociable than Bojack. The swordsman even found himself nostalgic if he dwelled on it too long.

He wondered why the Saiyan seemed to be more tolerant of them. He suspected it was Zangya's doing but had no hard evidence other than he seemed most at ease around her. Until around two months before when they had started avoiding each other out of the blue. The swordsman shrugged it off as he swung a bag swollen with treasure. He had cleared out the palace of this continent's king. This was a primitive world without space travel so it still had countries and differing forms of government around which was annoying. It meant that all the loot was spread further out and so they had to split up.

An arrangement he would not mind normally but of course, the strongest people on the planet happened to be here and so was the scarred man.

As Kogu casually stepped out of the palace with a jaunty whistle, Broly slammed some poor bastard into the street ahead. All the swordsman noticed was a simple tightening of muscles and the man's head exploded. The Saiyan let go of the smoking carcass and sneered. The Hera couldn't say he had warmed up to the man in the last five months but they had actually talked to each other recently even if they were short one or two word exchanges.

But as the deadline moved closer, Kogu found his curiosity about the Androids growing and this was the first time that he could think of that he was alone with the Saiyan.

The swordman moved a few steps closer and glanced at the corpse.

"No luck with the search, huh?"

The scarred man kicked the body with some frustration and it flew into a burnt out building.

"No."

'Alright, Kogu, no time like the present.' Despite the last five months, he still feared the man so he took a moment to gather some courage before he asked the question. "So what's the deal with the future?"

Broly glanced at the Hera with furrowed brows. There was a mixture of confusion and surprise in his expression. The swordsman made sure to look expectant lest the raven haired man think the question was asked in jest.

"I already told you."

Kogu shook his head in a rare moment of boldness regarding the Saiyan. "No, you told us that we'd meet Androids in the next month or two and that was it."

"And that's all you need to know."

"Well, I want to know more."

"The details are unimportant."

"Well, than it can't hurt to let me know then?"

"You do know there'd be no consequences if I kill you right here and now?" Broly gestured vaguely in the direction of the others. "They couldn't do anything to save you."

Kogu adjusted the treasure on his back at that. There was the beginnings of a sheen of sweat on his forehead but his poker face remained in place.

"I know we're important for whatever plans you have. You haven't so much as laid a finger on us in the last couple months." He cringed as a memory resurfaced. "Even when Bujin dropped some food on you a couple weeks back." That was funny in hindsight as the little guy looked like he was trying to will a black hole to swallow him whole in that moment.

"I'm only asking that we be fully informed about what's going to happen."

He wasn't wrong but that entitled him to jack shit. Besides, they were fully informed.

"I've told you all I know. In twenty years, Androids are everywhere and I'm dead. The only reason I believe it at all is because of what was revealed regarding me."

The Saiyan was somber and there was a passing grief in his eyes. It felt odd to see him so...vulnerable. Kogu had only seen the man either angry, indifferent, or something between the two. It reminded him of himself after Bido's passing. Did this man, who annihilated worlds without a thought, lose someone he cared about?

It made sense that even a terrifying monster like Broly had someone at one point. Unless he just popped into existence as is, somebody had to have raised him. He had thought the blonde man in front of him a sociopath but this blink-and-you'll-miss moment had him examine that assumption. Another question popped up in his mind.

"...What was it?"

Broly glared at him but there was no real heat behind it.

"You'll never know."

The deadline Broly had set for them was only a week away and of course they would run into trouble. Broly had elected to stay in the ship as he found no interesting power levels on the planet so no scaring off these guys. She idly wondered if it had to do with why he had been avoiding her the last few months.

She knew he was avoiding her specifically since he stopped coming around to the rec room for whatever reason and he refused to stay in the same room as her for more than a few minutes. That was for later however as this was a more pressing matter.

There was an eerie sense of Deja Vu among the Hera as a group of Planet Trade soldiers descended on them. They had been caught in the middle of a routine ransacking when the patrol detected their energy signatures.

Zangya glared at the armored group of aliens. They had gotten careless with their plundering and now they had Cooler's lap dogs here to interrupt their fun. No doubt that their location had already been sent any nearby patrols as well. She wouldn't be surprised if Cooler himself wanted to take a crack at them with all the resources they had leeched off the tyrant.

"Would you look at that?" The closest one to them spoke, a reptilian looking fellow with a beak. There was a shakiness to his movements. "The big, green thorns in Lord Cooler's side!"

"Setting the bar real low with that one." She responded as Bujin nudged her. She looked down at the genie like Hera and he put his hand by his mouth to whisper. "They're all really nervous except for the two in the back."

She took a quick glance at the patrol. His words rang true as they were all quaking in their boots except for two. One was a purple humanoid with an elongated head while the other had pink skin, horns, and shaggy black hair. They were unnaturally still.

"Look, you all know who we are and what we can do." Kogu stepped forward with his arms crossed, confidence oozing from him. Not a single P.T.O. patrol so far had proven effective at stopping them. "We don't want to waste time killing you so if we just go our separate ways..."

The pink one pointed at the group. "Kill them."

The group of Planet Trade soldiers hesitated for a second and that's all Kogu needed. He dropped all but the leaders with a flurry of sword swipes too fast for all those grunts to see. The swordsman, back with Zangya and Bujin, sheathed his blade as the last man fell.

"Tada."

The purple one was unfazed. "We wish to take you prisoner. Surrendering will ensure your lives." The pink one stepped up. "We cannot guarantee your life if you fight."

Kogu looked between the two with a growing sense of unease. "Do these guys seem off to you two?"

"Yep."

"Agreed."

The pink one held out his hand. A shining red dome was embedded in his palm.

"We will have you dead or alive."

Review Responses!

TDNRYCON: He is and, uh, a little more than a month for the answer to that second question I think. c.c

Raos: Cooler trains very little. Can't afford to be tired if his brother somehow grows a spine, you know?

enarmonios: The destruction of South Kai's galaxy woke King Kai to the very possibility that the same would happen to his so he's been recruiting and training warriors by inviting them to his planet.

Abyss Emperor: I can neither confirm nor deny that allegation.

fightingchampion: Here's some Broly with a bit more to come.

Jadangle: That'd be a bit of a spoiler. As for Turles and Future Broly...laughs maniacally

Rufael: 17 and 18 have been destroyed.

Deadly Instinct: Toriyama stopped using them because they were meaningless. If having a higher power level doesn't secure a victory, that would render power levels, and whatever information they tell you, complete bullshit. It's a number that does nothing meaningful for the story and it would be, and is, a waste of time figuring them out.

As for the Broly multiplier, I gotcha. I don't know why I put a number to the multiplier so long ago since I never take it into account. I'll need to edit that response.

With Cooler, his fifth form can be assumed to be his full power which would be substantially more than Goku at 20x Kaioken thus the no sell. To further my point, Frieza got hurt when Goku equaled him at 50%. If Frieza was at 100% when that happened, he would've definitely no-selled Goku's Kamehameha as well. There's also nothing telling us that Goku's way stronger and this is right around the point in the series where Zenkai's stopped mattering anyways since they didn't boost up as much. Given all this, Cooler (in his fifth form) can't be assumed to be much more powerful than Frieza in the movie.
