ARC 51: A Day in the Life of Roxas

7 AM

The alarm rang as it did everyday, and Roxas rolled over and slapped it roughly with his open palm yawning. He paused to look up, seeing Ruxki's arm hanging off the top bunk. "Oivei…" he muttered to himself as he got dressed and picked up a book.

"mmmm….Red-Eyes you dirty girl…" Ruxki muttered in his sleep before rolling over, causing Roxas to groan in disgust and lop the heavy text book at him.

"WAKE UP!" Roxas shouted as the book landed and Ruxki sat up looking at him, shaking his head.

"Roxas, Roxas mah boy, you need to be more careful with the homework rage boner…." he yawned and stretched his arms. "I know Mokey is found of intensive assignments, but that is no reason to hurl the textbook at me every single morning."

"Maybe if you didn't sleep through the alarm everyday…."

"Not my fault I was dreaming about a hot chick…."

"I highly doubt Red-Eyes Black Chick counts as-'
"It's NOT RED-EYES BLACK CHICK! It's Black Dragon's Chick now remember?"

"Oh for fuck's sake…" Roxas said retrieving his book and going to the mess hall for breakfast.

8 AM

"...and it is believed that this unknown Turbo Duelists is incredibly skilled as they appear-"

"Roxas." Roxas looked up and saw Leo standing over him. "What's wrong this morning?"

"Nothing is wrong sensei." Roxas said returning his attention to the news only to see the story changed.

"Really? Cause both you and Ruxki seem a bit worse for wear. Rough night? Or possibly morning?" Leo said with a smug face and wink.

Roxas opened his mouth to retort and then walked away disposing of his tray. "It's just not worth it at this point…"

10 AM

"You know Roxas, I am getting of your Clear World bullshit." Quincy said looking at the board state in their Practical Duel Theory class.

Roxas grinned. "Don't hate the playa or the deck, or you'll never beat me."

Roxas's Boardstate - Clear Vice Dragon(2), Proxy Dragon (1), Do Little Chimera (EMZ A)

Set Cards (1,3,5) Clear World, Hand: 1, LP: 5600

Quincy's Boardstate - Vector Knight - Gemini (EMZ B), Evocator Chevalier (1), Gemini Soldier (3), Moon Mirror Shield (1, Equipped to Chevalier), Set Card (3) Catalyst Field, Hand: 2 LP:2000

"We'll see about that." Quincy said calmly. "I activate Catalyst Field. By excluding my Gemini Summoned Evocator Chevalier, I can destroy Clear World!"

"Oh that's adorable, you think I will let you pop my Clear World." Roxas said in a pseudo-sweet voice. "No." He said simply returning to his original voice as one of his set cards flipped up. "Heavy Storm Duster. I can destroy Catalyst Field and your Set card." Quincy's monster faded away before his field spell shattered along with his only set card. "Next I activate Clear Approaching." Roxas said as his second set card flipped face-up. "I Set all monsters my opponent contr-"

"You can't Set a Link monster you fool." Quincy countered. "So you can't even trigger your-"

"-in Face-down attack position." Roxas said simply as all of Quincy's monsters flipped and had their back up in a vertical state, leaving a visibly stunned and shaken Quincy to deactivate his Duel Disk and walk away.

Mokey looked over at Leo pointedly at this point to see him shaking with suppressed laughter. "Are you actually proud of what you accomplished here today?"

"YES!" Leo shouted before collapsing on the floor laughing maniacally.

3PM

"Come on Haruki-chan let's go back to your room for a bit~" Haruna said as jumped on her boyfriend's back class.

"Oh come on, can't you wait just a bit?" He asked blushing.

"Now, now Haruki-chan," Roxas cooed with a wide grin. "We shouldn't leave her waiting now should we?"

"Roxas makes a good point~" Haruna purred in his ear as her boyfriend turned crimson.

"You bastard…" he muttered at Roxas who laughed and walked away.

"Thanks for that." Ruxki said stepping out of the shadows.

"Why did have to be me to make the really bad joke again?"

"Cause, I figured there was a lower likelihood of Haruna bitch slapping you out the window."

"How much lower?"

Rucki though for a moment before pulling out a large white board and doing a large number of equations. "About 3% less likely." he said with a grin leaving Roxas to only facepalm.

6 PM

"And we have a new update on the Turbo Duelist reeking havoc in the Synchro Dimension's New Domino City," the reporter said which cause Roxas to plug in his head set and focus on the screen of his Duel Disk. "The Duelist is undoubtedly skilled, seeing as they were able to defeat four Securities in a Battle Royale without any form of aid, what's more our news choppers were able to successfully grab this image of the Duelists." An image appeared on the screen, showing a figure from behind, the only notable trait was that they had long red and black hair. "This was taken last night after the Duelist defeated all of the Securities and pulled off onto a rarely used side street. Anyone with any further information to identify this Duelist will be handsomely rewarded."

"That looks like Ruxki…" Roxas said quietly.

"What does?" Ruxki said dropping into the seat next to Roxas, tray layered in fried shrimp.

"Nothing." Roxas said closing the video out and shaking his head. "It just can't be." He pushed his chair back and stood up stretching. "Homework time." Roxas walked out the room, tossing his dishes on the return counter as he did.

"What's he going on about?" Ruxki muttered before his phone chirped. "Hello?...Um...Well...I don't know...It seems like things might be a bit difficult now. I don't think I'll do anything about it for a few days….Okay bye." Ruxki shook his head. "Might as well start on that homework as well…"

To Be Continued…

Author's Notes: Moving house is a pain and takes forever…
Also it took a bit to figure out Duel Layouts for this, finally got something that will convey card placement without being overly messy and cluttering. Starting in this chapter, all cards played, all cards set etc all have a number next to them. This corresponds to the column it is on that player's field. They are labeled 1-5 from left to right for the respective player. A Visual aid is here:

[5] [4] [3] [2] [1]

[A] [B]

[1] [2] [3] [4] [5]

While cumbersome admittedly, this was done to ensure card placement on the board is known as it is kinda freaking important now, and is done in an attempt to make Duels involving it being important look far less asspully or something similar. Plus when Link Spam heavy decks are used it is convenient.
