A/N: I'm so sorry you guys. I for once work ever day but one this week, so I'm gonna get this posted, and it might be a week till the next update. I'm NOT abandoning either of my fics, I promise that, just got a lot going on! Alright, here we go!
Multiple loud claps rang out around the room, and Beca and Chloe flipped around, Aubrey standing up to see who was with them.
They stopped, and watched as a girl a few years younger than them, approached clapping her hands together while a group of girls stood behind her watching.
She had long brown hair pulled back into a pony tail, wearing yoga pants and tennis shoes, a sports bag slung over her shoulder.
They watched her guardedly as she approached, Alex trying to peek around her mothers to see who it was.
"That was beautiful." She smiled and stopped about six feet from them.
"Thanks. Sorry, we weren't trying to intrude or anything, we can head out."
She shook her head. "No no, please don't rush off." She said and extended her hand.
"Im Sydney, Sydney Crawford." She said taking Aubreys hand.
"I'm-"
"Aubrey Posen." Sydney cut her off. Aubrey looked slightly shocked and took her hand back, Beca and Chloe looked at her confused.
"And, Chloe Beale, and Beca Mitchell." She said to them.
Beca was beginning to get uncomfortable and looked behind her to see Alex standing up on the piano stool to get a better look.
"How do you know us?" Aubrey asked.
Sydney smiled. "Sorry, that was probably creepy. Um, we all know you, you ware the reason for the Bellas winning three national championships in a row."
Aubrey smiled instantly at the mention of the Bellas.
"Are you," she looked behind Sydney at the other girls.
Sydney looked behind her. "Yes, these are my Bellas. I'm the leader this year." She said and motioned for them to come over. They all hurried to her side, smiling excitedly.
Chloe smiled and shook a few hands as did Aubrey. Beca however picked up Alex, and didn't offer her hand to anyone.
"I can't believe you are here." Sydney said. "I mean, you practically disappeared after..." She looked at Beca and trailed off.
"Uh, yeah." Chloe said awkwardly and slid her arm around Becas waist, hoping the mention of the past wouldn't upset her.
"I was a freshman in high school, when I first saw you perform. I was there, Beca, when you led the Bellas to their first national championship. After that performance, I knew I had to be a Bella, I knew that this was something I wanted to be."
Beca smiled at her. "I'm glad you like it."
"I was in my first year here, when everything happened. I watched it on the news, and campus was crazy during that time. Then, the news reports stopped, and you guys were just gone. No one knew where you went. The Bellas didn't go to nationals that year, and they all graduated except one, who kept it going. I auditioned and made it, and now it's my turn to make something of this group. " she said.
"Its great to see the Bellas are still around." Chloe smiled.
"We are," she smiled. "Except. We haven't even made it passed semi finals since you left." Aubreys smile faded and she stood a little straighter.
"Why not?" She asked, her tone taking on a tone that they rarely heard anymore. Sydney looked at her.
"The trebles. They are amazing. They.. I don't know they seem to have it all figured out. They have won nationals every year since..." She trailed off looking down in shame.
"That is unacceptable."
Beca and Chloe looked at Aubrey, seeing the familiar look of determination and disappointment on her face. Chloe turned to Beca with a knowing smile, and Beca smirked and shook her head. Alex looked at both of them and then Aubrey.
"Mom are you mad?" She asked Aubrey. She turned to her and the new Bellas looked surprised at her choice of words for Aubrey.
She softened when she saw Alex's face. "No, sweetie. Not mad. A little disappointed, but not mad." She said turning to the group again.
"You have a kid?" Someone asked.
"Yes we have a daughter." Aubrey stated. "Now, Sydney, tell me what your plans are to fix this travesty and get the Bellas back to the top where they belong."
Chloe smiled and Beca chuckled seeing the a aubrey she had first met coming forward. Sydney looked scared.
"I Uh, well..."
Aubrey sighed. "Where is your set list?"
The other Bellas, had taken to looking elsewhere as their leader spoke with the blonde.
Beca sat on the piano bench, sitting Alex in her lap as Chloe leaned back against it and watched.
"Sydney pulled the list form her bag and they watched silently as she read it over.
"Oh god, no. You CANNOT sing that." She said and walked over to the white board.
"Come here, you have a lot to learn in a small amount of time." Sydney hastily followed her and the Bellas looked at Chloe and Beca in confusion.
"I'd follow her." Beca said pointing with her eyes toward Aubrey.
"Yeah, you really don't want the wrath of Aubrey upon you." Chloe laughed.
"She can be scary." Alex piped up. They all looked at each other before turning and rushing across the room to where Aubrey was drawing up the diagram that she was already certain would lead them all to victory, once again.
"Look at that." Chloe smiled softly. "If there is anything she loves more than us, it's leading the Bellas."
Beca nodded. "I never thought I would say this, but it's nice seeing her return to Nazi mode." Chloe giggled and stood up.
"As long as it's not me she is nagging."
Alex started to wiggle, so Beca put her down. "Mama I'm hungry, how long are we staying?" Beca looked over to where Aubrey was pointing to where the chairs needed to places so she could separate them by their vocal ranges.
"uuhh... It could be a while." She said. "Why don't we go get pizza and bring it back and we can all eat here?"
"PIZZA!" Alex yelled excitedly. And They looked over to see Aubrey shooting them a warning glance.
"And that is the look that I'd rather avoid." Beca laughed and took Alex's hand.
Chloe walked over and whispered in Aubreys ear that they would be back after getting food, then placed a soft kiss on her lips before walking away.
Aubrey had stopped and smiled watching them head for the door.
"Beca, you forgetting something?" She called. The smaller brunette turned around to see Aubrey walking toward her and she passed Alex to Chloe before meeting her half way and getting a kiss of her own.
Everyone watched with wide eyes as Aubrey retuned and Chloe took Becas hand as they left.
"Hold on." Some one from the back row spoke up before Aubrey could start again.
"Yes?"
"Which one are you with?" She asked confused.
Aubrey looked at her with the same amount of confusion. "Both." She said.
"And they are with each other?" Someone else asked.
"We are all together. Is that a problem?"
They all shook their heads. "But the kid?"
Aubrey sighed, knowing the only way she was going to be able to continue was to give them some answers.
"Beca is Alex's biological Mother. However, we all raise her, we are a family. She calls us all Mom and she understands."
"Wait, is she... The baby that Beca was pregnant with when..."
Aubrey paled. "Yes."
"Wasn't she raped?" Another asked in shock.
She could feel the anger rising in her. "Yes." She snapped. "She was raped. Alex was conceived, and we have been raising her together, in another state. We are back now, for a trial if you must know. Jesse Swanson was finally caught and we are here to make sure he never sees the light of day again. We are a family, Alex is our daughter and I expect we will be treated with respect and you will not bring any of the past up to Beca. She is fully aware that you know about her. Don't bring it up. And do not speak to Alex about any of it." She warned.
"Sorry, we didn't mean to be rude." Sydney apologized on behalf of the girls, sending them a disapproving look for being so nosy and outspoken about a topic so fragile.
Aubrey took a breath, calming herself. "I understand. It's a weird situation, but it's our life. Now, do you want my help?" She asked.
They all nodded enthusiastically. "Yes please!" Sydney practically pleaded.
"Then less talking, more listening." Aubrey said and turned back to the board, a small smile on her lips, feeling as though this was right where she was meant to be.
XXXXXX
Back hunched, brows furrowed. Finger tapping in an inconsistent pattern as his eyes locked on the crack in the cement picnic style table.
He felt every time someone would walk by and purposely bump into him. He heard everything they said. Every time he walked towards a table with a tray of food on his hands, someone slammed into him. Either knocking the tray to the ground, or flipping it, so it covered the front of his gray scrub like pants and shirt.
They talked a lot. But never did much else. A few were aware of what he had done. Seeing it on the tv. Others left him alone.
One man in particular, never said anything. Never did anything. But also, never took his eyes off of Jesse for more than a few minutes. A fixed glare, locked on him.
He had been taken to see the judge to be read his rights, and to be informed of how tip his was going to work.
Today, he was informed that Beca, Aubrey, Chloe and Stacie had been flown in. And they were going to testify against him. He had kept to himself. He had put up with the taunting, the glares, the words. But today, he wasn't in any mood to deal with them. They knew nothing.
He wasn't prepared, when someone came up behind him and slammed his head down into to table.
He felt his forehead collide and sat up, the blood instantly streaming down his face from the new gash. He shot up and turned around to see another inmate, his face twisted in rage, standing as if he was waiting for Jesse to retaliate.
No guard had seen what he did, but a few other inmates had and they stood up, watching. Waiting. No one was on his side, and he knew it.
"I know what you did," the guy said. "What I don't know, is how the fuck you have been here this long, and no one has made you swallow any teeth yet."
Jesse glared at him. "What the fuck do you want? You don't know shit."
A few people had stepped up beside the other guy.
"I know what you did to that girl. I know what you did to all four of them. And the kid. What you don't realize, is how news travels in this prison system. I got transferred here too. My trial is being held here, just like yours. Only difference...I'm not a sick freak like you. Do you know what happens to boys like you in places like this?" He asked stepping up to Jesse. "Do you know what happens to punks like you, who get off on torturing girls? Stalking, abusing, controlling women like its your God given right?" He bumped his chest into Jesse knocking him back.
He was sick of this. This guy didn't know shit and he wasn't doing anything but pissing Jesse off. He stood up and shoved the guy.
"What? What the fuck are you going to do?"
The guy didn't retaliate to the shove. He stood up and squared his shoulders with a cocky smile.
"Oh, not me." He said. "I'm the messenger. Just the one to let you know that what comes around goes around. I heard what she did to your partner too. God... I can't imagine what getting your dick shot of feels like." He laughed. "Can you?" He smirked.
Jesse narrowed his eyes and looked around at the others that were looking at him. Some smiling. Knowing smiles.
The guy laughed and stepped back up to him. "Let me know when that changes." He said. Before walking passed him, slamming his shoulder into Jesse knocking him to the side.
"Sleep with one eye open." Another said as they passed him. He huffed and wiped his hand across his forehead covering his hand in blood. He growled angrily and turned around walking away.
Beca would regret making him stay in this place, this wasn't where up he was supposed to be. He was supposed to be with her. Not here. He couldn't wait to see her in court. She would change her mind. He knew it.
