GUARDIANS OF POKEMON
Disclaimer: No, I don't own Pokemon or any of its characters. Any original characters are mine, however.
Seventeen legendary guardians

will soon arise and protect the world from a deadly force...
"Fire!" screamed Dash running out from the dorm. Firefighters came to the dorm and started putting the fire out. Ritchie, coughing in the dorm while the smoke was in the air, was grabbed by the firemen. Ritchie screamed, "Hey, where are you taking me?" A fireman said to the dean, "It's all right. The building was not severely damaged and nobody was hurt or wounded. Luckily, it was a Sunday so everyone was probably out of the building." A fireman behind him said, "Actually, I think a person was killed." "Will you shut up?" Suddenly, more firemen walked in holding Ritchie. The firemen said, "This is most likely the culprit!" Ritchie struggled to get out and yelled, "Hey! I didn't do anything!" The dean said, "Calm down there, boy. Just tell me everything that happened."
#52: A SMOKY MYSTERY
Ritchie made his daily trips around Misty's room. He thought he smelled something odd in the air, but ignored it. Before he entered Misty's room, he looked at his watch and thought, "Uh-oh! Class is going to start soon!"
Ritchie, who was narrating this story in the present, said, "Oh yeah. I remember... Ash had asked me to wake him up since we had a class together. So I went there and..."
Back in a flashback, Ritchie knocked on Ash and Mitsumi's door. Turning the knob, he realized that it was already open. He found Mitsumi sitting solemnly on the bed. She had been thinking about a few days ago when Ash had broken up with Misty. She said to Ash, "Are you sure you don't regret your idea?" Ash answered, "Of course not! It's gotten to the point where she sickens me!" Mitsumi said, "Don't say that, Ash. I know you really don't hate her." Ritchie overheard the conversation and gasped. "What are they talking about?" wondered Ritchie.
Ash saw Ritchie standing on the doorway and gasped, "Ritchie, how did you get in?" Ritchie quickly blushed, "Oh, don't worry about me! I didn't hear anything! So, Ash? Are you coming to class?" Ash said, "I'll be out in a minute." He then looked at Mitsumi and said, "Mitsumi? Try not to get too close to Misty."
As Ash and Ritchie passed through the hallways, they had smelled something burning. Ash covered his nose and sighed, "What is that smell?" Ritchie asked, "So you smell it too? I think it's coming from one of these rooms." He stared at his watch and sighed, "We're late! Let's hurry!"
Suddenly, back in the present, Sakura ran into the dean's office yelling, "It couldn't have been Ritchie!" The dean yelled, "Please, young lady. Will you refrain from barging into my room while we're discussing important matters?" Sakura panted, "I'm sorry, mister. I'm just here to say that Ritchie didn't do it!" The dean said, "Ritchie over here was just doing the same thing." Sakura said, "But the story would sound better by me!" Ritchie yelled, "Hey!" The dean said, "Fine, go on." Ritchie sweatdropped.
Sakura narrated, "So, there I was... the new fire safety inspector... Yes, I know... It's ironic, isn't it? Anyway, as I made my morning walks, I noticed that a used cigarette was situated in the ground near the dorm. You know, the dorm that conveniently places Ash and Mitsumi near Misty and Green?" The dean said, "You're veering off the subject." Sakura yelled, "I know what I'm talking about!"
Back in the flashback, Sakura picked up the cigarette and gasped, "Who in their right mind would smoke on the schoolgrounds?" She thought about it for a moment and laughed, "Oh yeah, pretty much everyone! Ha ha! But I wonder who it was that used this cigarette..." She then thought, "Hmm... I know how I'll find the culprit!"
Sakura ran out of the dorm and came back with a full carton of cigarettes. She hid under a nightstand and watched the cigarettes vigilantly. She thought, "I'm sure the culprit will see the cigarettes and take them! Then I'll show them what happens to people who smoke... I burn them to death!"
Meanwhile, as Sakura hid, she had been hearing some commotion in the room next to her. She recognized the room as Misty and Green's room and heard two voices. One of the voices, a female one, said, "But I'm sure we can work things out for the better." The other one, also female, shouted, "Shut up! I don't want to hear any crap from you, or from anybody!" "But please..." Sakura thought, "No, it couldn't be!" She tried to get up from the nightstand and bumped her head into the top of the nightstand. She fainted and remained unconscious for a few hours.
When Sakura woke up, the cigarettes were already gone. She sighed, "Damn it! I missed the culprit!" The dean interrupted Sakura's story and said, "I'm sorry, young lady but how is this relevant to the fire? You're just telling me a stupid story about cigarettes." Sakura yelled, "Hold on! I'm getting there! Now where was I?"
Ritchie said, "This girl does not represent me. Can I tell my own story?" The dean yelled, "I don't care who tells me the story. If you can't prove your innocence, then I can't let you go, kid!" Ritchie yelled, "How can you prove that I was guilty at the first place?" The dean replied, "Well, let's look at the clues. You were at the scene of the fire when it started. The firefighters had to bring you out because you were coughing so badly. In fact, this also leads me to believe that you were the one smoking those cigarettes on the school grounds."
Ritchie sighed, "Okay, I admit that I had something to do with the smoke, but I had nothing to do with the fire or the cigarette! This is what happened..."
In a flashback, Ritchie had been walking past Misty and Green's room. He had seen Sakura passed out on the floor. He stopped and poked Sakura calling out, "Sakura? Sakura?" He heard Sakura snoring and said, "I guess she can sleep here if she wants..." He noticed smoke coming from Misty and Green's room. Seeing the door open, he decided that he would take a peek.
In the present, the dean interrupted again saying, "If you know that the smoke was coming from this Misty and Green's room, then you should have said so in the first place. I'm sure they were the culprits smoking and starting the fire." He called Misty and Green into his office and said, "Well, Ritchie, it looks like you may be off the hook." Ritchie screamed, "Wait! I'm not done telling the story yet!"
Misty and Green came to the dean's office. Misty gasped upon seeing Ritchie and Sakura staring at her with stern looks. Green asked, "Hey, what's going on? I'm not in trouble or anything, am I?" The dean held up a cigarette and said, "Would this belong to any of you?" Green said, "You mean you suspect us of smoking? Hey, it must have been Misty, because I know I never smoked any of that crap before in my life!" The dean stared at Misty and asked, "Was it you who was smoking this cigarette?" asked the dean.
Misty just gave him a stern look and remained silent. The dean said, "Now, if you can't prove your innocent, I won't let you go!" Misty shrugged and began to speak. Ritchie interrupted her and yelled, "No! Let me continue my version of the story!" The dean said, "Fine, go ahead. But you must know that once we do find out the culprit that started the fire, and we will, he or she'll have to be expelled from this university." Misty looked down in disappointment.
Ritchie gulped and narrated, "Okay, here it goes... I had walked in to Misty's room and saw something horrible..." Meanwhile, as he told the story, he privately recalled the exact moment when he walked in. Ritchie had found Misty sitting near the window, lighting a cigarette. Ritchie gasped, "Misty! What do you think you're doing with that thing?!" Misty looked at Ritchie and looked away. Ritchie sighed, "Misty, why are you trying to hide?" Misty yelled, "Go away!"
Ritchie walked closer and said, "Misty, I think you're starting to develop problems." Misty yelled, "I said to go away!" She cried and threw a cigarette at Ritchie. Ritchie ducked under it as the cigarette bumped next to some purple thing. Ritchie said, "I heard about... you know... Ash and Mitsumi..." Misty yelled, "Shut up, Ritchie! You're the last thing I need right now!" Ritchie said, "Please, Misty... Why are you like this?"
Suddenly, Ritchie smelled smoke again and looked behind him to see the cigarette that Misty had thrown being devoured by some floating purple object. Suddenly, there was a large explosion behind him causing smoke to spread throughout the air. Ritchie tried to find Misty and yelled, "Misty!" Misty was wheezing and had passed out from the smoke. Mitsumi, who had heard the explosion, had rushed over to Misty's room and gasped, "What happened?" Ritchie then carried Misty over to Mitsumi and said, "Take her outside, now!" Mitsumi carried Misty outside the dorm, but ran before she could wake up.
Ritchie, who was still in the dorm while the fire spread, began to cough and hallucinate. He thought he had seen a purple object. Finally, the firefighters had come in and grabbed in.
Back in the dean's office, the dean had wanted to hear the rest of Ritchie's story and said, "Ritchie! You didn't finish. You just left off at seeing something horrible. What was it that you saw?" Ritchie then had an epiphany and said, "Wait, I think I know who started the fire! Follow me!" He ran out of the dean's office as the dean yelled, "Hey! You're not allowed to leave!" Still, the dean followed him.
Ritchie ran over to the remains of Misty's room and opened the closet. Much to his expectance, Ritchie had found a Weezing in the closet. Weezing spit out a cigarette and sighed, "Weezing!" Ritchie said, "This is your culprit, men. Allow me to rid you of this fire safety hazard. Everyone look away for a while." He then looked at Weezing and yelled, "Poison Power! Poison Ball!" Weezing was captured inside the ball as Ritchie made a victory sign to the others.
The dean said, "Well, I guess since a Pokemon that wasn't registered in the university was the culprit, I won't have to expell any student." Misty breathed a sigh of relief and whispered to Ritchie, "Why didn't you tell him that I was smoking?" Ritchie gasped, "Did you actually I'd rat on you?" Misty whispered, "No, but thanks anyway..." Ritchie then said, "Hey, did you know who saved you back there?" Misty asked, "Was it Ash?"
Ritchie led Misty to Ash and Mitsumi's room. Ash gasped as he saw Misty and said, "I heard about what happened!" Misty said, "Of course you did! I didn't think you cared about me enough to save me back there!" Ash confusedly asked, "What do you mean by saving you?" Ritchie said, "Actually, Mitsumi was the one that saved you. Maybe you should thank her..."
Misty stared at Mitsumi who smiled back. Misty then yelled, "You! If you think I'll forgive you for taking Ash away, then you can just forget it!" Ash yelled, "Stop screaming at Mitsumi!" Misty yelled, "I'll scream at whoever I want! Mitsumi... as long as we're in this school, I never ever want to see you again, even if means not seeing Ash!" Mitsumi said, "But Misty, I'm not trying to fight..." Misty yelled, "Will you just shut up?! Give up the goody-two shoes act! No real human is that nice! Ash, I'm disappointed that you could fall for such a girl!" She looked at Mitsumi with raging eyes, "Mitsumi... I wish you were dead!" She then ran from the room crying.

Kikara: You should be proud.
Kai: But an adventure about me would be like a subplot within a subplot that's already in a subplot.
Kikara: What?
Kai: Guardians of Pokemon #53: With a Punch And a Kick.
Author's Notes: As I said, here's the cultural cliche that I talked about earlier in the last episode. If you didn't know already, a cliche in Japan is that if a girl cuts her hair, she has recently broken up with someone. Perhaps the last episode makes a little more sense now...
As you can see, some soap opera elements are starting to flow in steadily. Yeah, most of you are probably complaining about the breakup of Ash and Misty. However, if a soap forced two characters to break up, they didn't always put them back together just to make some people happy. Of course, anything could happen, so who knows?
Until next time!
