Chapter Fifty One: Lost Tears

(Comfort the one who lost what's most precious)

With the biggest discovery behind them, Mikoto and Saten were now at their usual diner eating. Saten took another bite out of her parfait. "I have to say, it's about time you decided to ask out Shirai-san."

Mikoto took a sip out of her drink. "Was it that obvious?"

The other girl shook her head. "Not really but I did expert Shirai-san to ask you first. So what's your plan?"

The level five ESPer sighed. "I really don't have one. How do you ask someone, much less a girl out?"

Saten pondered that question for a bit. "I guess you just have to go out and say it to her. Knowing Shirai-san, she'll probably jump all over the place." Mikoto can see that clearly. Her face riddled with joy as she teleported all over the place. Her friend stared at the other girl for a few seconds. "Hey can I ask a question?"

Mikoto tilted in head in confusion. "Uh…yeah sure. What is it?"

"What's it like being a demon?" That question took the electromaster by surprise. She looked at her drink. "It's kinda hard to explain that. It's like you have all this power inside of you and you feel like you can take on anyone. I think that's why most people lose their way. They get drunk with this kind of power and lose themselves in it."

"Yeah that makes a lot of sense. I wouldn't expect you or Shirai-san to be drunk on power. If you were, then we all be in pretty deep trouble." Saten joked.

Mikoto laughed with her. "You can say that again."

Both them continued to laugh. "This actually brings up something else I had in mind." Saten spoke.

"What?" The auburn haired girl asked.

Saten held up her finger. "Since your school isn't here anymore, wouldn't you need a new nickname? I got one. How about 'Demon Ace'?" Saten put her hands apart.

The other girl giggled. "I wouldn't know about that." Mikoto looked down.

Her friend regretted what she asked. "Sorry. If it's still a sensitive subject-"

"It's fine." Mikoto interrupted. "What's happened happened. Once this whole thing is over, then I'll rest."

Saten smiled at her friend's virtue. "That's the Railgun I know. So if we can't figure out how you'll ask out Shirai-san, what about when?"

The electromaster hadn't thought about that detail. "Tomorrow maybe? I need time to prepare."

"Well let's hope this whole demon business can be put on hold until then." Saten stated.

"Yeah let's hope so." Mikoto still couldn't shake the feeling that something very bad was about to happen.

With a new handbag, remote, and clothes, Misaki was all too glad for the change. Since her school was now gone, she didn't have to worry about their dress code. Although she still felt a bit sad that her school was gone. What followers she had before were gone now. To top it off, she now learned that demons were in the city planning for something and that Mikoto was a demon as well. She stopped walking on the sidewalk as she can still clearly remember that battle the other level five had against Nia. Misaki didn't know how that battle was going to play out. There also the battle of with the clown. It was those two battles that changed her views. It that she learned there was another world out there. A world that doesn't matter you're one of the seven level fives of Academy City. All these people around her, they have no idea what's lurking in the shadows and she saw what that was like.

Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard sound coming from the ally ahead of her. Misaki ran to see what made the noise. This time she was to be careful what happens next. She looked into the ally and her eyes widened with shock. There was a young girl stumbling along the way. She held her hand to the blonde level five. "Sis…ter…" The girl in the ally fell to the ground.

There was no mistake who the girl Misaki saw was. "Nia."

B

"I must be out of my mind." Out of Misaki's better judgment, instead of just leaving the girl who killed an entire street, instead of her turning the girl who kidnapped her to Judgment or Anti-Skill, instead of her just leaving Nia lying in the ally, she brought her to the hotel she was currently staying in. No one bothered to ask since she used her remote on the people around to control them and slip by. So here she was now in her hotel room with Nia soundly asleep in her bed while the blonde was sitting next to her. What perplexed her out of everything that she was still alive after her battle with Mikoto. "I thought that was it for her but here she is in front of me."

"Sis..ter…" The level five blonde heard Nia whisper that same word. Not only that, she saw her closed eyes move.

Misaki observed the motion closely. "She's dreaming."

Chimera's smile disappeared. Flames suddenly erupted throughout the field of flowers. Her sister shut her eyes tightly and whimpered. She felt her older sister hug her. "We both knew this was going to happen Nia. I'm scared just as much as you but at least we're together."

"Together to the end right sister?" She asked in a scared voice.

Chimera held her younger sister closer to her. "To the end Nia."

The flames circled around them. "I love you sister." Nia cried.

Her older sister smiled. "I love you too Nia." The fire consumed them both. Nia was prepared for this but at least she was with her sister. "Nia…I'm sorry." Her younger sister didn't know what she meant by that. Was she apologizing for failing to protect her?

Not what she thought as she felt her sister grab her shoulders and shoved her out of the circle of fire. Nia fell to the ground but quickly stood up with fear in her eyes. "Sister!"

She ran back to the circle of fire. "Stay away!" Nia stopped with tears coming out of her eyes.

The other twin fell to her knees. "Why? Why did you do that?!" She screamed.

"They only need one of our souls. I have blood on my hands Nia. Not you. I deserve this fate."

Nia shook her head. "No. No I don't want to lose you!"

The fire began to close in on Chimera. "Please Nia; please live on for our sake…" The pillar of fire disappeared along with Chimera. Nia could only stare at the emptiness that was before her. The field of flowers was now a barren land.

More tears were now coming out of her eyes. "SISTER!"

F

Nia opened her eyes panting. The first thing she saw was white ceiling. Her heart was still beating fast. She sat up on the bed. "Where am I? The lasts thing I remember was walking away from that abandoned building and…" Nia looked to the side and Misaki asleep by her bedside. "Misaki…chan…" She looked out the window and saw that it was night now. "How long was I out?" Nia decided figure that out later. She hesitated to touch the other blond but she put her hand on Misaki's shoulder and gently shook her. "Misaki-chan?"

Those few shakes managed to wake up the blonde level five. "When did I fall asleep?" She raised her head only to see Nia awake. "You…"

Nia looked away. "I didn't expect to see you again."

"Nor did I." Misaki stood up. "How is it that you're alive now? I thought Misaka-san beat you."

"She defeated my sister. Not me." Nia retorted. "As for how I'm still here, I'm not entirely sure but...but…" The tears were coming back. She remembers that dream clearly now. Nia couldn't hold back anymore. She lunged at Misaki and wrapped her hands around her body as cried into her chest. This was an unexpected development for the level five blonde. Nia continued to sob into Misaki's chest. "I'm all alone now. She sacrificed her life just so I could continue living mine. I don't know what to do or where to go."

As an odd reaction to the blonde ESPer, she wrapped her arms around the sobbing girl. She brought some kind of warmth out of her. Misaki held her closer. "What is this feeling coming over me? Why is she making me feel this way?" The crying continued for a bit longer until Nia had no more tears to shed.

B

After the crying had stopped, the next thing Misaki did was call room service for both her and Nia. Now both of them were eating. For Nia, it was more like gorging. The girl might be sweet but her table manners were horrible. As for Misaki, she was eating like a proper lady. "Nia…" The other girl stopped eating half way through a pizza and looked at her. "Can you please try to eat like a…" Well she couldn't say a human being.

"Don't worry. I don't feel any of the demonic power inside of me. It was my sister who had that power. Since she's…gone now…" Nia held up her hand. Small sparks emitted from her finger but now they were the regular color of an electromaster. "I'm just a normal ESPer now."

"How does that happen? I don't think you can be rid of a demon contract like that?"

"I'm not sure. I may have made the deal but it was my sister who gained the power." Nia explained

After a few more eats, both girls were now sitting on the bed. "Can you answer a question?" Misaki asked.

"What is it?" Nia replied.

"You or rather your sister was part of a high ranking group correct?"

"Uh…yeah. It's called the Six Deadly Shades." Nia replied.

Misaki could feel she's getting somewhere. "Then I assume you know all about the organization's details. Their workings, their plans, even know where there base of operations is?"

"What are you getting at?"

Misaki inched her face closer to Nia's. "You can help us Nia. You can tell us everything about what's going on and what's going to happen. Please."

Nia felt like she was blushing. No she was blushing as there was an insanely pretty girl close to her own face. "S-Sure. What do you need to know?" She answered as the other blonde stared in to Misaki's eyes. "They're so pretty."

However Misaki was blushing as well but only slightly. She put distance between the two of them. She cleared her throat. "Well why don't we hold the questions until tomorrow. I'm sure Misaka-san can use them better then I can." The level five blonde saw Nia look down. "What's wrong?"

"I don't think I can face Mikoto-chan again. Not after that battle."

"Is it because she's the one who-"

Nia shook her head. "No it's not that. I just can't face her now."

Misaki crossed her arms under her breasts. "How about you tell her while I'm there with you."

Nia once again hugged the other girl. "Thank you Misaki-chan."

Once again the blonde hugged back. She couldn't help but laugh in the inside. Misaki was the last person someone wanted to thank and here was the sweetest girl she met hugging her and thanking her. What's more is that the blonde didn't have to use her Mental Out ability on Nia to obtain the information she wanted. "What has gotten over me?" She'll answer that question later on but for now, Misaki just wanted this feeling to last a bit longer.
