I actually think I'm going to save that cover art for another book because the drawing doesn't really fit with the story, so. Yeah.

Chapter 51
Nike's POV
Sub keeled over and fell on his side. Cal, Eric, Harvey, and I rushed toward him. I looked behind me for a second. "Go find GoldSolace," I said to one of Herobrine's warriors. The soldier nodded and dashed off, followed by a couple of his friends.
I looked back down at Sub. He clutched the arrow poking out just under his collarbone. "How is this even physically possible?" Harvey asked. "I mean, wouldn't his ribs and shoulder blades get in the way of the arrow? There's literally no way this should be possible."
Cal reached out and touched the arrowhead. "Unless it's has a super sharp, unbreakable diamond point that's Enchanted so it turns every substance it touches into dust, or at least weakens it. Luckily, that doesn't affect skin. Otherwise, he'd be totally screwed."
We all stared at her. She looked back at us. "What? We learned about this in school, okay? Just cuz I'm a monster doesn't mean I can be smart?"
Dawn sniffled and fluttered towards him, lowering herself onto his arm. Little golden fairy tears rolled down her cheeks and splattered on her dress. Do you think he'll be okay? She asked. No one answered.
"Can- can we do anything?" I asked quietly.
"You could try the magic again," Harvey suggested. "It worked with Herobrine."
I shook my head. "I can't. There's certain spells that one can only use once every twenty-four hours, and that charm I used is one of those. Plus, I'm really tired, and I don't think I could cast any spell right now. Otherwise, I would." I looked at Harvey. "Why don't you try?"
He shook his head. "I'm just as tired as you are. That barrier spell really drained the magic out of me."
Eric sniffled, and he started to cry. "Sub, it's gonna be okay. You'll be fine. Just hang in there. Brice will be here soon. Just wait."
Sub tried for a smile, but it ended up as a grimace. He reached up and took my hand. He opened his mouth as though he were going to speak. Blood came out his mouth instead of words. I winced as he tightened his hold on my hand. He tried again, but the same thing happened.
"Sub, stop, okay?" I said. "You'll be fine. Just hold on, Brice will be here any second now. Just hold on. You'll be okay." My voice caught when I said "okay". I choked back my tears.
His breath rattled. He mouthed something, but I couldn't tell what it was. I leaned down. "What?" He tried again, but I still couldn't tell. I can't read lips very well, okay?
He opened his mouth again.
Words came out.
"Keep this safe for me. Please."
He released my hand, and in my palm was a tiny computer hard drive. I was slightly confused. What was this for? Why did I have to keep it safe? I didn't see the point of this, but I put it in my pocket anyway. "I will. I promise."
He smiled, then took one last shuddering breath. I lowered my head, and when I looked back up, his brilliant lime-green eyes stared into space, completely blank. His chest didn't move. I grabbed his wrist and checked for a pulse. There was none.
SubZeroExtabyte was dead.
Dana/Hannah's POV
I turned a gear on the side of the throne. I couldn't figure out how to open the door without breaking into the mechanisms, so I figured it would be easier to just start on the inside and work my way out.
It wasn't turning out that easy though.
I took my hands out of the throne, my hands covered in machine grease. I'm normally great with machines. Like once, I hardwired all the speakers at school to play "Anaconda" in the middle of class. A few minutes later, they couldn't get it turned off, and it started playing "The Best of Both Worlds", then "Radioactive", then "Turn Down For What", and so on and so forth, until it got to the end of my iPod playlist.
Then it started over again.
Then I made my teachers give me an A on all of my assignments, and the principal give all the students the day off and buy us ice cream. And if they didn't, I wouldn't disable it.
That was a really fun day.
Until I got detention.
Leo: This girl reminds me of me.
Wrong fandom, Valdez. Get outta here.
I huffed in frustration. I was never going to get in. It was impossible. Seriously, how did this even work in the first place? It didn't help that the gears were all covered in rust. They must've been really old, probably hadn't been used in a long time. I wasn't even sure it could be opened anymore. Sure, Alex had somehow opened it, but what if some of the gears broke then? That would render all of the rest of these mechanisms completely unusable.
"Ugh!" I slammed my fist on the ground as tears of anger and despair welled up in my eyes. I would never get in there, Hero would die, and everyone would probably think it was my fault, that I just left him in there on purpose (and I didn't, in case you're wondering).
I turned another gear and nothing happened. Then just gave up. It was impossible.
I stood up and kicked the side of the throne angrily just as Alex, Steve, and Brice ran into the room. They looked at me expectantly, and I tried to hold my tears back, but they streamed from my eyes, probably making me look like a wimp. I don't like crying in front of other people, especially people I know.
Then the throne and some of the wall swung outwards, revealing an opening about seven feet tall and four feet wide. Herobrine laid on the ground just a meter away from the door, his eyes closed.
I threw my hands up in the air. "So it doesn't work when I try incredibly hard to open it, and when I kick it, it just opens?! What the eff? That's just mucked up!"
But I just said that in my head, so I was the only person to hear it.
All four of us ran in and knelt next to him. Brice grabbed his wrist to check for a pulse, and I closed my eyes and crossed my fingers.
Please Hero, don't you die on me, don't you do it, don't you dare, come on-
