Alicia Rivera
"I can't believe that they lost Gryffindor so many points and all for some stupid prank about a dragon," Lavender said. Lavender, Parvati, and Alicia were sitting in Lavender and Parvati's dorm room, gossiping about what happened the night before. Everyone was talking about it at breakfast. Nobody would even talk to Dylan and Harry when they walked in, well except for Hermione and Ron. James, Kemp, and Dune still talked to Neville, but you could tell that they were not happy with him. Massie didn't even show her face. When Alicia woke up that morning Massie was still sleeping, but Alicia wouldn't be surprised if she was faking it so she wouldn't have to show her face. Alicia can't believe how far her former best friend has fallen. She could have been expelled. Then all of her hard work would've been for nothing.
Alicia was actually surprised that Dylan would do this too. She was really doing a lot better. She actually looked happier since finding out that Harry was her brother. If she were expelled the two could be separated again.
"There is no way we will win the House Cup now," Parvati said.
"I will never forgive Harry for this," Alicia agreed.
"Well in his defense he didn't do it alone. I mean we all know that Neville is innocent in all of this, but Massie and Dylan did help him," Lavender pointed out.
Alicia sighed. Even though she didn't hang out with them much anymore, Massie and Dylan would always be her Aliquam Velit sisters. The bond would never fully be broken.
"I know, but I can't completely be mad at them. They are basically family," Alicia said.
"I don't think that they are the same girls you grew up with. Based on the stories you have told me they seem nothing like what you described," Parvati said.
Alicia sighed again. Maybe they were right. Maybe Massie and Dylan had changed for good.
"And maybe you shouldn't talk about things you ah-bivously know nothing about Parvati," Alicia heard a voice say. They all looked at the doorway and saw Massie standing there. Alicia's eyes grew wide. She almost looked like the old Massie.
She still looked frail and tired, but her hair was styled in soft curls, she had on make-up, and she was wearing a very stylish red skirt with a golden top.
"Massie what are you doing here?" Alicia asked.
Lavender and Parvati looked embarrassed that they were caught talking about her.
"I need to talk to you Alicia. In private," she said giving Lavender and Parvati her famous alpha glare. Alicia was surprised to see it. It had been a while, but it was still very effective. Parvati and Lavender rushed out of their own room.
Massie walked in and stood in front of Lavender's mirror. She sighed as she looked at her reflection.
"I barely recognize myself anymore," she said. She turned around and looked at Alicia. Her alpha face was gone and Alicia noticed how weak and exhausted she looked.
"You almost look like your old self," Alicia shrugged.
"Almost, but I don't feel like my old self," Massie said.
Alicia stood up and walked up to Massie.
"Well you still have the famous alpha glare down," Alicia said giving a small smile.
"Its like riding a broom, once you learn how to do it you never forget," she chuckled.
"What's bringing all this on?" Alicia asked.
"Alicia I had a mental breakdown last night. I cried uncontrollably in front of one of my role models. I wanted nothing more than to be a part of the alpha couple of Hogwarts that I wasn't being an alpha anymore. I've been following around Harry like a lost puppy when he barely noticed me. I realized last night that when I looked at him I didn't even really like him that much. Not like that anyways," she said.
"Well like I tried to tell you, an alpha doesn't need a man. Look at Professor McGonagall, she is a total alpha and doesn't have an alpha male because she doesn't need one. You don't either," Alicia smiled.
"I think I figured that out. The man doesn't make the alpha and I think I'm ready to get my alpha groove back, but I can't do that without my beta," she said.
Alicia smiled. She got her best friend back.
"Well I guess my first task is to get people to stop hating you for getting caught last night," Alicia said. Massie groaned.
"Ugh they'll get over it and if someone tries to make it an issue...I'll put them in their place," Massie smirked. Alicia giggled and hugged her old friend.
"Good to have you back Massie," Alicia said.
"My father has told me that sometimes you have to hit bottom in your life to be a true alpha and I always thought he was being silly, but he was right and now I'm about to be the best alpha that Hogwarts has ever seen," Massie said.
"I hope Hogwarts is ready," Alicia smirked.
"They have no choice now lets grab Parvati and Lavender and hang out in the courtyard. I have to finish my History of Magic essay on Elfric the Eager and I am looking way to good today to not share it with the world," she said.
"Sure thing," Alicia smiled. The two girls grabbed their History of Magic textbooks, a quill, and a scroll, then they met the two girls in the common room.
Alicia could tell that the two girls were hesitant to join Massie, but when Massie is hard to say no to when she turns on her alpha charm.
Alicia was amazed how quickly Massie was able to act like herself. Alicia was afraid that Massie had forgotten who she was, but it seems that once an alpha, always an alpha.
Massie seems to be back to normal, but will it last? In the next chapter we'll check back with Josh as he overhears a Quirrell mental breakdown and tries to warn the Golden Crew to act fast. Then we'll follow Massie as she attends her detention.
