Prompt #57 – Moon

Hana Inuzuka had been a former teammate and friend of Itachi before he kept surpassing everyone and became a part of ANBU. They had known each other well and found they had a lot in common, especially their deep love for their younger brothers. When everyone else had been obsessed about the Uchiha prodigy, Hana was the only one (except for Sasuke) that wanted to get to know Itachi, the person and not the prodigy.

The Inuzuka princess had been one of the people that were most affected by the news of the Uchiha massacre and the person responsible. Itachi had always been a pacifist, choosing violence as a last resort and trying other options to complete missions before resorting to killing. Hana simply couldn't understand why the sharingan user would do this and then leave his brother (the person he loved and treasured above everything else in this world) behind, completely alone.

When Hana thought about that fateful night, she remembered that she had been feeling uneasy and that the scent of blood was overwhelming. Her three canine companions had whined and tried to block their noses with their paws, hoping to block out the scent. The brunet had kept glancing out the window in worry, hoping to find out what had upset her nose and her three companions so much. However, the only thing in sight was the full moon, illuminating the village, but giving no answers to her questions. Only the full moon had been witness to the Uchiha prodigy's tears as he had to slaughter his clan and hurt his younger brother like he had always promised himself he would never do.
