Bella POV
He was dead. There was absolutely no possible way that he could come back to haunt me anymore. I knew this because I was the one to end his existence. Something inside of me was now at peace to know that he was never going to be able to hurt my family or me again. I should have drawn out his pain, but I didn't want to turn into a monster like him.
Playing baseball with the Cullens would be something new for all of us. It's terrible that so many of our own died, but this way we can celebrate our win and remember their lives. It was a necessary evil.
Jasper, Nathaniel, Jake, Alice, Carlisle, Esme, and James were on one team and they'd start off at bat. Emmett, Victoria, Rosalie, Edward, Trey, Laurent and I would be in the outfield. We didn't really need to play proper baseball since we could all be in whatever spot at any moment, but we tried to stick to a normal layout.
The teams were evenly balanced. We all had different skills that we brought to the table and they worked towards our advantage. James and Nathaniel are fast while Trey, Edward, and I our fast. Our abilities were evened out decently; even though I was still faster than all of them.
My team decided to dress in black jeans with white t-shirts and old school Cincinnati Cubs hats. The other team was dressed in white pants, black t-shirts and New York Giants hats.
Victoria smiled at me before we began the run to the clearing; clearly remembering when we were here as nomads. Jade and Desiree would be umpires during the game since there was no way in hell I'd let either of them play. The game was bound to be a load of fun and maybe some competiveness. Thunder crackled loud in the sky along with a streak of lightning. I smirked at Jasper as I headed to my spot in the left field. He returned my smirk with just as much sass.
"Ready to lose, Mr. Cullen?" I asked him playfully. He let out a laugh that made my heart happy.
"Bring it on, Mrs. Cullen." Emmett made a gagging sound and I tripped him as he walked to center field. He punched my arm playfully.
Alice smiled as thunder rolled through the sky. "Time to play." She came up to the home plate and Victoria threw her a hard fast ball. She smacked it into the right field where Trey was waiting anxiously. He dashed into the forest after the ball.
"Come on batter batter batter." Emmett taunted James as he came up to the plate. Trey returned with the ball as Alice was sliding into home. He chucked the baseball to Laurent who caught it just before Alice could touch the plate.
"You're out." Jade announced with a smile.
"Why in the world did I decide on white pants?" Alice grumbled as she walked away while wiping her pants off. Edward let out a snort from first base which he received a glare for from Alice. Victoria threw another fast ball at James and he hit it right into my direction. I had the ball in my hand before James could reach first base. I chucked it and got him out.
"That's two outs." Desiree brought to our attention. Esme came up to bat and hit one straight into Edward's palm. My team rushed quickly to get in our spots for batting. I'd be the first up to bat. Jasper smirked from his spot in the outfield.
"Get ready to strike out, Mrs. Cullen." He called out tauntingly. It was time for my first hit while playing with my family.
"Bring it." I challenged him with extra sass. Alice pitched the ball and I never took my eyes off of Jasper as I cracked the ball into the far right field where he waited. I tore off at a full on sprint towards first base. They were scrambling for the ball and I made it to third when Jasper reappeared from the forest. I dove for home as he ran towards me with the ball, trying to make the out personal. I made sure to kick my foot out and trip him; my arm was on the base while Jasper was on top of me. We were both breathing hard before smiling and kissing passionately.
The Next Day
When the morning came around, Trey, Desiree, and Jacob were missing. Jade was clueless as to where they might have gone, and I knew she wasn't lying to me; she knew better than that at this point. My anger was completely blaring and I nearly tore the house apart looking for where they might have gone since they weren't answering their phones.
I found a note in the tuna salad that Esme had made the other day; only Jake would think of something so stupid as that. It said that he was consenting for Trey and Desiree to get married while Trey forged Jasper's signature for himself. They would be in Las Vegas to have the marriage.
I couldn't say that I was pissed; I was fucking furious. Those three would be in deep shit when they get home; if they even get a chance to make it home.
"Jazz, we aren't going after them. We are going to let them come home. They want to make poor decisions and start acting like adults when they're still children; then we'll let them. They have to make their own mistakes as much as I hate to say it and we have to let them. Of course, they're going to start seeing what it's like to live in the adult world; buying their own stuff, paying rent, cooking meals, and whatever else. We've babied them and I'm done. I'll always think of them as my babies, but they need to learn a lesson from this bullshit." Jasper's eyes were full of concern for me. He sighed before wrapping his arms around my waist.
"I'm on your side completely, but let's not be too hard on them." He whispered softly into my ear. I breathed out deeply before allowing myself to relax in his arms. The kid push me and push me to keep testing my limits, well they've finally reached them.
Once Trey, Desiree, and Jake arrived home, I sat down all my misbehaving 'children' in the living room and laid down the law. They all agreed to the rules and promised not to break any more of them.
"I'm sorry for going behind your back, Bella." Jake sighed. I still felt like punching him in the face, but I couldn't hold onto my anger.
"Just count your blessings, Jacob." I murmured, trying my best to release my anger. Jasper was helping tons by releasing serenity into the room.
"You do realize your daughter is now your sister in law, right?" Emmett laughed towards Jacob. Jake seemed agitated but he let the comment slide. I had to admit, it was both amusing and disturbing.
"You realize that we are vampires right and the rules of life kind of went out of the window long ago?" Jade retorted back at Emmett. Emmett rolled his eyes before letting out another laugh.
"So, does Jacob get to call you guys Mom and Dad now?" Emmett asked once more, trying to contain his laughter. I growled lowly at him.
"No." Jasper and I said in unison causing laughter among all of us. How much crazier could life get?
