Genesect sits down at his laptop, and sighing.
He turns it on and begins to read.
Blinking, he sees something unexpected. He reads the following extract.
Arceus gave a curt nod. "So, having analyzed the main points of both games, is Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky the best game Pokémon has made?"
The Alpha Pokémon's eyes glanced upwards slightly, letting out a contemplative sigh. "To be honest, I can't definitely say. It's undeniable it's an incredible game, but I simply cannot say for certain if it was the best. It's certainly open for debate, but for now, I think that alone is sufficient."
Arceus the Critic on Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky
The Angry Bug frowns, then turns his attention to another extract.
So, that totals out to five positives and four negatives that I see in Explorers of Sky. Out of all the things I consider to be overrated, it's the one I enjoy the most, even if I don't actually enjoy playing it.
Ryu's Journal on Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky
Frowning even more, Genesect's attention is surprised by the last extract.
Well, now that I got all that over the way. . . I can fill my head with thoughts of how awesome this game is!" Keldeo declared happily.
"Even with all these problems, the good things about this game completely make up for it! It's plot is deep and dark at times; the characters are all complex and well developed; the dungeon crawler game-play is fun, the Gummi and IQ Skill game mechanics are clever; and there are so many heart pounding, heart warming, and heart breaking moments. The way characters like Grovyle, the partner, and Dusknoir stay in our minds shows how Explorers is definitely the best Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game in the entire series."
Keldeo the Critic on Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time, Darkness and Sky
Genesect sighs frustratedly, then looks up at the camera that was watching. "All you guys are forgetting something VERY important!"

Discussions 5:
Twenty Five Things about Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Red and Blue Rescue Team
Genesect looked up at the title of the discussion, wide-eyed. "Wow, that has got to be the longest title that the show has ever had!"
The Bug then shakes his head, getting his mind back into his train of thought. He then turns to his attention to the camera.
"Anyway, hello all you guys, girls or whatever you are, and welcome back to the Angry Bug Show!" Genesect grinned excitedly. "And today, we got another discussion!"
The Angry Bug then frowns, if looking frustrated.
"It has come to my attention that recently that some of the critics have been talking about the Mystery Dungeon series."
Intoxiquer suddenly flies in, but instead of yelling his usual thing, he brings in three signs and places them behind Genesect. Each sign has an individual image on them.
The first, behind Genesect to the right is a cartoon-ish image of Arceus. The second directly behind him is a cartoon-ish image of Ryu Taylor the Ferret and the last one to the left is an cartoon-ish image of Keldeo.
The Crobat then leaves.
"Arceus, Ryu and Keldeo have talked about what is arguably the best entry in the series, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky." Genesect continues to explain, still frowning.
"Arceus, the positives of it. Ryu, the negatives of it and Keldeo, a balance between the two."
Genesect shakes his head.
"I do admit, they all give good points about that game." he points out, seriously. "However, they've all forgotten about something VERY important!"
Genesect points towards to the title name, grinning sheepishly.
"As you could probably tell by now, it's Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Red and Blue Rescue Team!"
Then, Intoxiquer flies back in with a stereo and places it on Genesect's table. He then presses play and the theme for Pokémon Square starts playing.
"How could anyone who's playing the series from the beginning forget the first games that kicked started it in the first place?" the Bug asked rhetorically.
"These two games are very good games, and it was due to their success that Explorers, Gates to Infinity and soon Super actually exist!"
Genesect grins once more.
"Well, today, I'm discussion the many points of Red and Blue Rescue Team." he explained thoroughly and happy.
"There is five topics that I'll like to talk about and each have five points. They are..."
Genesect pulls out a sign, showing the points.
'Topic 1: Five Worst Things
Topic 2: Five Best Things
Topic 3: Five Best Moments
Topic 4: Five Best Music Tracks
Topic 5: Five Best Improvements Made
Genesect puts away the sign. "The reason why I'm doing it like this is to show what I think about those two games, after replaying them.
I'm a critic so I'll talk about parts I found frustrating and great!"
The Angry Bug then grins.
"Let's begin!"
Topic 1: Five Worst Things
Number 5: Friend Areas
Genesect sighs, rubbing his face, as the music changes to Ninetale's theme. "Sorry for starting out with negative points. This area of the topic revolves around things like game mechanics, story characters, plot, ect ect., things that the game didn't do well in."
He then sighs once again.
"The first worst thing is Friend Areas." Genesect starts to explain. "Why is it a bad thing? Well, many of things."
Genesect pulls out a chalkboard, which has different points to them. He points his claw to the first one.
"First, Friend Areas themselves. Okay, they are a good idea itself, I admit that. But having to buy them is incredible frustrating, due to some of them being ridiculously expensive!
Like, the friend area for Latias and Latios is VERY expensive to buy and the amount of money that you get from jobs is very low! That means you either have to rush through high-leveled dungeons just to get even near the price range of just trundle through jobs that don't pay that much!"
Genesect face-palms.
"That Wigglytuff charges too much! He's like the Pokémon version of Mr. Burns in some way!"
Mr. Burns: Excellent!
Genesect points to the second point about Friend Areas. "Next, when you start to recruit more and more members into your teams, it can be increasingly hard to keep track of all of them.
Sure, when you go to visit them from your base, it's easy!
But the moment you come out of that Friend Area, all confusion can break loose! You don't know which area you want to go to if you want a certain team member!"
Genesect breaths in and out, to calm his frustration.
"And the more Friend Areas you get, the more confusing and frustrating it can get, with so many areas to go to..." Genesect concluded for that part.
He steady his breath and gets back his breathing rate.
"Now, for the last part of Friend Areas." he started, somewhat annoyed, having his arm extended to the last point. "Recruiting Legendaries into your team."
Genesect pauses for a second. "Some Legendaries, like Latias and Latios for example, you can buy their Friend Areas. That's fair enough."
He then frowns in anger. "But, majority of the time, when it comes to recruiting Legendaries, you can't buy their Friend Areas! You'll only get them when you actually recruit the Legendaries!"
Genesect throws his arms into the air.
"I mean, you can only get Ho-Oh's Friend Area when you actually recruit that damn bird! If you just gonna give it away when you recruit the Legendaries, what's the point of buying the rest in the first place?!"
Genesect face-palms once again.
"You've been told that you need to buy the Friend Areas pretty much in the beginning of the game so you can recruit Pokémon but in order to get a Legendary's Friend Area, you need to recruit them?! THAT'S DUMB!"
Skit Start:
"You have done well, little Charmander." Zapdos congratulated to the tired Charmander. It had climbed the whole of Mt. Thunder to challenge Zapdos in a battle. "You have bested me in the battle."
"Just...call...me...Magma..." Magma remarked, breathing in and out. Zapdos nodded.
"Very well. May I ask you a question?"
"Go ahead..." Magma said, catching his breath.
"May I join your team?"
Magma is taken off guard, surprised. "Wait, I don't have your Friend Area!"
Zapdos simply smiled, questionable for a bird. "Don't worry, I come with a Friend Area!"
Magma the Charmander then growls in frustration, catching Zapdos in suprise. "Then what's the point of getting a Friend Area?! I'm gonna kill that Wigglytuff!"
Skit End
Genesect groaned in frustration. "Onto the next one, now!"
Number 4: Too Many Characters
"With Explorers of Time, Darkness and Sky and, even though I'm on the fence about it, Gates to Infinity all have good characters." Genesect remarked, with a smile on his face.
"All those games have the perfect amount of characters with their personalities shown quite clearly.
We can all remember what Sunflora, Loudred, Emolga, Dunsparce and Chatot were like for example, due to their interesting characters, verbal and mental ticks and how they acted."
The Angry Bug nodded.
"Explorers of TDS and GtI all had the right amount of characters introduced and though some weren't given a back-story, they all in some way contributed to the plot or had an interesting character in some way."
Genesect then frowns. "With Red and Blue Rescue Team, there are WAY too many characters being introduced into the game at certain points.
Like, I get how Team A.C.T are relevant, along with Team Meanies, but so many characters are being introduced when the plot needs it."
Genesect scowls.
"What I mean is, it's a bit convenient to introduce Blastoise and the rest of the team that goes to Magma Cavern at the moment when the game shows that Team A.C.T are in trouble! Just out of the blue, new characters come in!"
The Angry Bug face-palms.
"Why were new teams introduced at that moment in time?! Why couldn't they be introduced slowly, like appearing at the Square way before hand?!"
Genesect nodded.
"That's where Explorers of Time, Darkness and Sky slightly succeeded in. They introduced different teams in that could have been used for something in the plot!
In Red and Blue Rescue Team, constant new characters keep on being introduced, some with no build up at all! At least Primal Dialga and the Bittercold had some kind of long build up before facing them! With Rayquaza, he's mentioned once nearly at the end of the game then you face him!"
The Angry Bug slammed his head against a piece of metal. "THERE'S NO CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT AT ALL! IT JUST ESCALATES WITH MORE AND MORE CHARACTERS!"
Ron Burgandy: Well, that escalated quickly.
Number 3: Limited Number of Face Portrait
"With all important characters introduced, all of them have a face portrait to when they are talking." Genesect begins to explain.
"Even if it's in the most basic of roles, like Gulpin or Ninetales for example, they have a face portrait."
Genesect then frowns.
"But what is bad that is that not all Pokémon in Red and Blue do not have a face portrait at all!" he remarked, somewhat annoyed.
"Want to play as your favourite Pokémon that had nothing to do with the plot of the story or not a Legendary Pokémon? Too bad, no face portrait for you!"
Genesect face-palms himself.
"It's annoying that Nintendo, Game Freak and Chunsoft couldn't be bothered to make all of the portraits for the game!" Genesect scowls angrily, pointing out.
"And don't tell me they couldn't fit them in! Explorers of Time, Darkness and Sky have the same out of storage space due to them being the same cartridge type as Red and Blue Rescue Team!"
The Bug face-palms again.
"It felt like they were too lazy to do that sort of thing!"
Number 2: The Meteor
Genesect nodded.
"That's right, the meteor is a bad thing within the game, but let me explain!"
The Angry Bug pulls out the chalkboard again, to explain his point. He begins to write on it. "With every story, you will tend to get some plot holes, thingsthat don't make any sense when you think about it."
Genesect turns round. "Plot holes are natural in game stories. Take Rise from the Ashes from the Ace Attorney series. What happens in that story creates plot holes for the rest the series."
The Angry Bug turns back round, to write more.
"The meteor creates a plot-hole in Red and Blue Rescue Team's story, though a small one. Though it's presence explains why the disasters are happening in the first place..." Genesect remarked, finishing up what he was writing.
"However, the story did not explain one thing about the meteor..." Genesect steps away from the chalkboard, which reveals what he was writing.
On the chalkboard, in massive writing, it says. 'How is the meteor causing the disasters?!'
Genesect nodded, looking angry. "Yes, the thing that is causing the disasters is never explained HOW IS IT CAUSING THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE!
HOW IS A STAR FROM FREAKING OUTER SPACE CAUSING THE PLANET TO EXPERIANCE DISASTERS?!"
Genesect face-palms again.
"It's never, ever explained how the meteor caused the disasters and is never touched upon again!" the Angry Bug concluded for this point.
"It's just a massive plot-hole! This doesn't make any sense at all!"
Number 1: Mystery Dungeon Team Member Limit
"Originally..." Genesect started off, calmly.
"This point was going to be about your partner ditching you once you completely the game and finish another mission, but I decided to choose the current point as I feel it's more frustrating mechanics wise.
The partner-ditching part is a honourable mention, I guess...?"
Genesect takes a deep breath in, and becomes annoyed again.
"As you may know, the limit of how many Pokémon that there can be on your team while in a dungeon is four per team. I have no qualms with that."
The Angry Bug scowls angrily.
"What I have problems are the plot dungeons and the majority of them!" Genesect states, scowling with anger. "With any plot dungeons, though you can have four members in your team, you can only bring three of them, with one open space left for a new member!"
Genesect growls. "What's more frustrating is that you and your partner take one half of the team in the main story, meaning you can only have one team member to join you when you are out on jobs!
HOW STUPID IS THAT?! YOU CAN'T BRING ANOTHER MEMBER TO ON?!"
Genesect face-palms.
"The only way you can have four team members in a dungeon that only allows you to bring in three members is to recruit another Pokémon, but then they're in risk of leaving permanently if you don't have any Reviver Seeds!
That can be frustrating in a hard dungeon!"
The Angry Bug scowls again. "Luckily, there are some dungeons that will allow you to have four members when entering a dungeon but there is only a few of them available, which the rest of them have some ridiculous restrictions!
IT'S JUST FRUSTRATING?! IF WE WERE MEANT FOR FOUR MEMBERS TO COME ALONG WITH US, WHY DO WE HAVE A LIMIT ON THAT?!"
Bruce Banner: I'm always angry!
Genesect breaths in and out, calming himself down. Once you gets his breath back, he grins. "Well then...Let's move onto the best things about Red and Blue Rescue Team!
Topic 2: Five Best Things
Number Five: Partner's Personality
Genesect nodded, and grinned, with the music changing back to Pokémon Square's theme. "Finally, away from the negativity!
This part here is about what the game actually did well in!"
He shakes his head and grins once more. "All right, let me explain why I think the Partner's personality is one of the best things about this game."
The Angry Bug goes to think.
"Since Red and Blue Rescue Team were the first in the series, they created a lot of tropes or roles that are common amongst the series. One of them, being the partner.
In each Mystery Dungeon game, the player is given a partner to be with, which will accompany you on every plot dungeon, and any other dungeon you decide to take them to."
Genesect smirked.
"And I believe, for a first attempt for the partner's personality, Red and Blue Rescue Team actually made the partner very likeable in terms of actions and personality." he commented sincerely. "The partner's personality in Red and Blue was really good.
They weren't too cowardly nor too cheesy, like the normal stereotypes of characters.
How the friendship between the player and the partner was really handled well, with the partner causally explaining things to the player so they can understand what's going on!"
Genesect then grinned with happiness.
"I especially liked the partner's reactions to the player's antics when you get to choose the dialogue on what to say, either with sarcasm, shock, anger or laughter.
My favourite scene has to be the one at Silent Chasm, where you choose not to play along with your partner's attempt to chicken out via stomach ache!
The... ...reaction by your partner is just priceless!"
Genesect laughs out loud from this. Once he calms down, he grins.
"And finally, I liked how the partner believes in the player.
I liked how the game shows that the partner doubts the player a few times but ultimately believes in them!"
Genesect nodded.
"It's handled a bit too much but doesn't cross into the boarders of being cheesy at all or over-dramatic. Simply, played straight."
Skit Start:
"Ow, ow, ow, ow!" Aqua the Squirtle went, bowling over in pain from his (fake) stomach ache.
"My stomach hurts!"
"STOP FAKING!" Magma bluntly remarked, angrily. "STOP BEING A COWARD!"
"Uh..." Jumpluff said, unsure of what's happening. "Should I come back later?"
Skit End
Number 4: Hunger
"Before you lot jump to the wrong conclusion, let me explain!" Genesect stated, looking slightly worried as his arms are positioned in a way to say 'whoa, hang on'.
The Angry Bug then puts down his arms.
"So, how come 'Hunger' is a good thing?" Genesect asked rhetorically, looking curious. "Well, let me explain."
Genesect folded his arms, frowning.
"As all of us here know, we are gamers. When we play games, not only do we play for the story, for the action or whatever there is and for the challenge!"
The Angry Bug then grins.
"A challenge is something that pushes the player to get better at the game." He remarked, explaining thoroughly. "To overcome a challenge is great as you know that you are better than you were before and had fun doing it!"
Genesect shrugged.
"So, how does Hunger relate to all of this?"
He then grins again, rather cheekily. "Well, I find Hunger can make all the difference to a Dungeon's challenge.
It's always there, something that you got to check up on but doesn't really affect the game play until it's really needed!
Hunger is relatively easy in early dungeons but on long dungeons, it can make the dungeon a bit harder and more challenging to the player, which to me, adds to the fun!
Sure it can be a pain sometimes depending on what dungeon you enter..."
Genesect scowls angrily.
"Stupid Meteor Cave..."
He then shakes his head. "But generally, Hunger makes the dungeon that can seems too easy a bit more difficult, to challenge the player!
This might be a point why some people dislike Gates to Infinity due to the fact that the dungeons are too easy and not challenging due to the removal of Hunger."
Munchlax: So...hungry...
Number 3: Personality Test
"Okay, this one might be a bit short compared to the others and I can understand why some people found it frustrating." Genesect remarked.
"But I always found the personality test at the beginning of the games the best, you see?
The reason is that each time that you go take the personality test, each time is a different outcome!"
Genesect grinned.
"That means that each time, you could potentially turn out to be a different Pokémon every time!
The potentialities of it are endless!"
Genesect looks round.
"Yeah, that's about it. I'm glad it's returning in Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon, even if it's optional.
I'll certainly take that test!"
Number 2: The Meteor
Genesect looks nervous, sweating a little.
"Okay, now you lot are confused.
But, before you yell..."
OBJECTION!
"...You need to..."
HOLD IT!
"...and..."
HANG ON!
"...until I explained everything!"
Genesect nodded.
"Yes, I did say that the Meteor was a bad thing in terms of the plot, a.k.a, how was it causing the disasters in the first place."
Genesect shakes his head.
"However, this is a different point about the meteor." He started to explain seriously. "Let me explain."
Genesect pulls out a piece of paper which appears to be heavily written upon.
"Before Red and Blue Rescue Team came out, it was a typical thing in Pokémon to have a main antagonist causing the events of the game.
For the original Red and Blue and their remakes, Gold, Silver and Crystal, it was Team Rocket.
For Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald, it was Team Magma and Team Aqua.
All of those teams affected the storyline in some way and were responsible for the crisis that they caused in the games that they were in."
Genesect nodded, grinning.
"However, then came Red and Blue Rescue Team!
At first, showing us Team Meanies probably made us think, 'Hey, maybe they're the cause of the disasters!'"
Genesect shakes his head.
"While it's true that Team Meanies are more or less are major antagonists to the player and their partner, they're aren't the cause of the disasters.
And we ALL know that it's the blooming meteor!"
Genesect grins.
"The thing is, why the meteor is good is that it played with the player's expectations. We all expected a Pokémon, either an evil team or a Legendary, to be behind the cause of the events in the game!
However, to reveal that it's a falling star that's causing it seems much better, as many people who played the game would find that surprising and good!"
Genesect nodded once again.
"I find that games that play around with your expectations great if pulled off well. And I believe that the meteor was pulled off well for Red and Blue Rescue Team's story.
It seemed right in the end.
Team Meanies wasn't built up too much for the direct cause of the disasters at all! It's not like Primal Dialga nor was it like the Bittercold."
The Angry Bug grins.
"The Meteor was handled quite well in the story and played with everyone's expectations, and that's why I think it's a good thing, despite the plot-hole it caused."
Number 1: The Dungeons
Genesect nodded. "Yes, the dungeons are the best part of the series. If it weren't for them, the Mystery Dungeon series would be Pokémon Conversation Simulator!
But let me explain why they're the best part!"
The Angry grins, putting his claws together.
"The thing about the dungeons is that each place that they are at all gives a certain challenge depending on what type of dungeon it is.
For example, Mt. Blaze is a Fire-Type dungeon, which is filled with mostly Fire Type Pokémon and has lava tiles!"
Genesect nodded.
"Each Dungeon has a different type to it, sometimes having a various mixture of different element types.
But that's what makes it fun and exciting! When you enter a new dungeon, you never know what you're going to get in there!
That's why I think the dungeons in Red and Blue help create a standard on what the dungeons in future entries should be like! Filled with different variations of Pokémon and being challenging at the same time!"
Genesect looks around, somewhat confused.
"Wow, this one was short as well..."
Topic 3: Five Best Moments
Number Five: Meeting your partner
"All right, the best moments in Red and Blue Rescue Team!" Genesect goes, rubbing his claws together while grinning. "This part is the best moments in the story!"
He then dropped his grin.
"This list might be a shorter one than the others but it's still important!"
Genesect shakes his head.
"Anyway, the first best moment in the game happens to be the first cut scene we see after we've picked our partner and named them."
The Angry Bug looks round.
"So, why is it a great moment?" he asked, rhetorically.
"Well, it's the first time that you actually meet your partner in the game and straight off the bat, you get to see what their personality is like in a funny and serious situation.
Like, when they laugh at your name when you enter it in..."
Skit start:
"So, what's your name then?" Aqua asked to the Charmander in front of him, while in Tiny Woods.
The Charmander crossed his arms and thought.
"Hmm...I believe it to be Magma..." he remarked, thoughtfully.
"Magma huh?" Aqua went, thinking about it. Suddenly, to Magma's surprise, Aqua burst out laughing.
"That's a funny name!"
"SCREW YOU!"
Skit End
"...or when your partner gets serious when it's time to save Caterpie." Genesect concluded.
"It gives a real insight into what your partner is like straight away in a brief moment, which I like.
Meeting your partner for the first time is always good, as you can see what they are like before heading off in the dungeon.
The partner meeting was certainly expanding in Explorers and Gates to Infinity, but for a game opening, Red and Blue Rescue Team did it well!
Number 4: Meeting Team Meanies
Genesect sweats nervously.
"So, the main antagonists for your team is a great moment, huh?" Genesect went, frowning a little nervous.
"Well, let me explain."
He then gains back his usual grin.
"In the point of the game before Team Meanies appeared, there was no evil team." Genesect begins to explain, rather excitedly for some reason.
"Sure, there was Shiftry's team, but they weren't against the player's team. Heck, I think Shiftry didn't know they existed!"
Genesect shakes his head.
"But in any point, Shiftry soon changed after Team A.C.T gave him that talk." he continues. "Team Meanies are the proper evil team in Red and Blue Rescue Team.
It shows that not all rescue teams are good, and the way they do it is quite shocking as it is."
An angry anime tick appears on the side of Genesect's head.
"THEY RUDDY STEAL OF OF YOUR JOBS!"
Suddenly, a Charmander bursts in and jumps in front of the camera. "I know, right?!" he yelled, before running off, leaving Genesect confused.
"Anyway..." the Angry Bug remarked, still confused. "This moment is a great shocking moment as it's quite surprising to find an evil team appearing right in front of you, even though the teams that you meet either good or just a bit shifty.
What Team Meanies show that even Pokémon can be evil individual and by choice, not being told by humans to act in such a way.
It shows a lot for Pokémon intelligence as well, which shows that even Pokémon can tell the difference between good and evil themselves, which shows that we are not dumb, mindless beasts at all!"
Genesect then scowls. "I still don't like how they steal the jobs..."
BalloonShop: THAT WAS A TRICKY THING TO DO!
Number 3: Confrontation at Mt Freeze
Genesect grinned at this.
"Okay, this moment here was very intense a lot!" he remarked, rather excitedly.
"Earlier before entering Mt Freeze, the player learns from Gardevoir that Ninetales is at the summit of this place, and everyone goes, 'oh yes, we can get this over and done with! We've face two hard-as-nails bosses in a row and we want to head back to Pokémon Square!'"
Genesect nodded.
"So, we all head up Mt Freeze, have a break along the way..."
The Angry Bug frowns rather annoyed.
"I don't know why there's a save point in Mt Freeze despite not having a boss at the end, which is normal for those sorts of dungeons...
Makes sense with Hidden Land..."
He then shakes his head.
"Then we finally get to the summit of that place, only to find that Ninetales isn't there. And then suddenly... BOOM! Team A.C.T appears to arrest you!"
Genesect nodded.
"Followed with a small fight, this moment's intense as the most powerful team that could appear have appeared!
It's so intense that you'll have a 'oh crap' moment and think there's going to be a fight between your team and Team A.C.T!"
Genesect then sweat nervously.
"Turns out that's a disappointment..."
Number 2: The Reason the Player became a Pokémon
Genesect nodded.
"I find this moment very good in terms for the game." he stated seriously. "Before this moment appears, everyone still questions why you, the player, have turned into a Pokémon.
You've been through a lot during the game, from beating Legendaries and been on the run, renovated your base and done plenty of missions.
And now, it's the night before you go off to a place named Sky Tower, to stop a meteor from crashing into the planet, which is causing the disasters."
Genesect grinned. "I knew the meteor would be on this list here!"
He shakes his head, to get his mind back onto the topic he's speaking about.
"And then, one last dream visit appears Gardevoir, who then reveals why you have come to be a Pokémon..." he goes, wistfully.
"You've come to stop the Meteor from crashing into the planet, to prevent an world-wide disaster from happening.
The reason why your memories are gone due to them being wiped so the soul and mind can be cleansed to show that the player could be a hero.
And that when the Meteor is gone, so will you..."
Genesect shakes his head.
"If you are a first time player, that's really a lot to take in! Even many playthroughs later, me and DragonNiro both agree that this moment is really intense and a great moment!"
He then grins.
"But not as intense as the next and final best moment!"
Number 1: Gengar's Past
"Yes, that's right." Genesect affirmed, putting his claws behind his back. "The last best moment happens to be the only one from the Post-Game."
Taking a few moments to think, Genesect then continues.
"As you may know, many different things can occur in the post-story. After fulfilling some requirements, Gengar will appear at your base requesting you to take him over to Mt Freeze.
So, you being the nice guy, take up this request and escort him to the top of Mt Freeze, where it is revealed by Gengar himself to Ninetales that Gengar is the cursed human from the legend and is the selfish master of Gardevoir."
Genesect nodded.
"If you haven't played the game, sorry for the spoilers! But this moment has to be the top because of a few reasons.
One, it totally explains Gengar's behaviour through out the game, why he's such a jerk to the player and how he knows a lot about the Ninetales Legend in the first place.
Two, it's totally shocking as one of the major background events of the game is revealed in a detail, in what happened to the cursed human after he got turned into a Pokémon.
And three, why Gengar ran away crying during the last dream talk and why he helped Xatu and Alakazam complete the Teleport Gem."
Genesect grins once more.
"Everything comes full circle when the revelation of Gengar is revealed!"
Topic 4: Five Best Music Tracks
Genesect is grinning a lot, rubbing his claws together. "I've been waiting for this one to come round! The best music tracks in the game!"
The Bug pulls out a piece of paper with some writing on it.
"With any great game..." Genesect goes, putting a pair of glasses on to read the paper. "...comes great music and Rescue Team comes with such music!
So, here, in my opinion, is the best music tracks from the game!"
Monty Python: GET ON WITH IT!
Genesect is taken aback from the sudden meme. "Okay, no need to be harsh!"
A sigh is heard, and Genesect turns back round to see Intoxiquer sitting on the stereo.
"Just hurry up already!" he remarked, somewhat annoyed.
Genesect shakes his head and turns towards the camera.
"Anyway, let's start on this topic!"
Number 5: Pokémon Square
"First off on this list is Pokémon Square's theme!" Genesect remarked, grinning.
"This theme here is the most memorable of a town hub, where the player gets their items and do other various things!"
Genesect nodded.
"Why is it memorable for me? Well, for me, Pokémon Square has a sense of cheeriness and adventurousness to it, with the friendly inhabitants of the town.
The shop keepers of each shop are always happy and cheery, always prepared to serve you on what you want.
The inhabitants, such as Lombre and Snubbull for example, are always happy talk about what's happening.
And of course, the post-board for jobs, so you can get a job on rescuing, escorting, finding or delivering a certain item."
Genesect nodded once again.
"Pokemon Square's theme represents all of that. It's cheery but gives a sense of adventure to the player, which represents what the town is certainly about. And that's why it's a good theme!"
The Angry Bug grinned.
"I hate to say this, but I find Pokémon Square's theme better than Treasure Town's and Post Town's theme!"
Number 4: Sky Tower
OBJECTION!
Genesect jumps round, to see Intoxiquer pointing out with one of his wings. "Wait, how come this one is at number four?"
The Angry Bug is taken aback.
"What do you mean?"
"Sky Tower is the last dungeon in the game's story and it's music is consider superior!" Intoxiquer argues.
Genesect nodded.
"True. Sky Tower is quite the dungeon, being extremely tough to get through, having a lot of floors than usual and a tough boss at the end.
And it's true the music fits with the dungeon's theme. It's suppose to represent a world above the usual one, with much tougher Pokémon to face while rushing towards the top to prevent a total disaster from happening."
Genesect crosses his arms.
"But I believe there to be three other music tracks to be superior to that one!"
"Which is?" Intoxiquer asked, curiously, putting away his wing.
Number 3: Friend Area Swamp
Intoxiquer is taken aback by this one.
"What the heck?! I though you hated Friend Areas!"
Genesect nodded.
"That is also true. But this theme actually makes me like Friend Areas."
He then turns back to the screen.
"As some people may not know where this theme is played, it's played at Peanut Swamp, Poison Swamp and Darkness Ridge."
Genesect grins.
"This track here blows all the other Friend Areas music tracks out of the water!" he stated, looking happy.
"It's so different! It sounds adventurous, but at the same time, sounds like it's out of a medieval setting, like a old medieval town celebrating!
It also sounds like it comes out of a fantasy adventure! The melody of it is so upbeat but complicated that makes me say that it's better than Sky Tower's theme!"
Intoxiquer frowns.
"Then what's more better than that?!
Number 2: World Calamity
"Huh?" Intoxiquer went, confused. "What's this one linked to? Usually their titles are more obvious..."
Genesect nodded.
"Indeed. This track plays after you beat Groudon at Magma Caveren and Xatu tells everyone through telepathy that a meteor is heading towards the planet."
"THE METEOR AGAIN?!"
"Yes, the meteor, of course!"
Insanity Prawn Boy: THAT'S RIGHT!
Genesect turns to the camera.
"This theme is basically the meteor's theme. This piece of music feels like nothing before in the game so far.
You have had happy music tracks, sad tracks and intense tracks.
But, this one feels different.
Not only there is a feel of intensity coming upon the player, but a feel of an impending apocalypse coming across the world, that it would end soon in a great calamity."
Genesect nodded.
"It's name speaks for itself. It's so intense but at the same time, feels rather sad. It feels like it's time for the game to end soon, considering the last place you go to is the last dungeon in the story mode."
He then grins.
"You can tell how intense it feels when it overrides EVERY OTHER MUSIC TRACK THAT SHOULD BE PLAYING AT THAT MOMENT!
You're in Pokémon Square, it's playing there. Go to your base, it's still playing. Go to EVERY. SINGLE. FRIEND. AREA YOU HAVE, IT PLAYS!"
The Angry Bug grins confidently.
"At this point in the game, it wants us to know that it's time to get serious and save the world, as it will end if we don't stop it now.
That's why if anyone does a top ten Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Best Music Tracks list, no matter what, World Calamity should be on that list!"
Intoxiquer nodded.
"That's actually quite the convincing argument! What's Number One?"
Number 1: Mt Blaze
"MT BLAZE?!" the Crobat shouts out angrily.
Genesect nodded.
"Yes, I was even shocked by this when DragonNiro suggested it to me." he remarked, looking surprised.
"But, hear his argument out on this!"
The Angry Bug pulls out another piece of paper and begins to read from it out loud.
"'When I was younger and I had gotten this game, it's was the right amount of difficult for me. It was easy for me to play through.
When it came to Mt Thunder, it was harder than usually but nothing that I couldn't handle.
But then, came the time for Mt Blaze to be played through.
What I can remember is hell. Mt Blaze was one difficult dungeon to get through when I was younger.
Though nowadays, I can get through it easily, Mt Blaze upped the difficulty level for me.
Tough Pokémon, Kecleon Shops that attack you when you steal, hardly any food around, constant fire Pokémon and the tip of the fiery iceberg itself, Moltres.
But, there is one thing that stuck out from going through Mt Blaze. The music.
It's something that got stuck in my head every time I played Blue Rescue Team and go away from it. It's something that I can't often describe it as.
It's an intense and an intimidating song that makes you go through hellish trials against strong Pokémon but at the same time, seems quite encouraging.
Like it's telling the player: 'come on, move forward! Keep pressing on!'. There's a feel of hope, a chance of escaping the pursuers.
Also, it's like a fire through it's notes. It starts off with low notes before heading up into higher, more elaborate notes.
The very high notes trickle through the entire song, like the tips of an open flame.
That track has stuck with me for a very long time and will always be my most favourite of all Mystery Dungeon music.'"
Intoxiquer is taken aback from this, eyes tearing from that. "That...is beautiful."
Genesect nodded, very serious.
"Now, you must know why Mt Blaze is the best music track in Red and Blue Rescue Team."
He then grins.
"ONTO THE LAST TOPIC!"
Topic Five: Five Best Improvements Made
Genesect smirked.
"This topic's area is basically what Explorers and Gates to Infinity improved on from Red and Blue Rescue Team to make them better!"
He then frowns.
"Wait, I take that back earlier! This will be the shortest list!"
Number 5: No Friend Areas
Genesect nodded.
"Yes, what I believed what Explorers and Gates did well was the removal of Friend Areas!" he explained, grinning.
"By gone the days where you had to go to an individual Friend Area just to get one of your friends to join you, amass the confusion!"
He then nodded.
"Now, with Explorers and Gates, we can just go to an NPC to give us the list of all out friends which we then can pick out which one of our friends to join our team!"
Genesect then sweats nervously.
"What I'll give Gates credit with is that we see what the recruits of our team do when not on the current team! It's like Friend Areas came back but still the same!"
Number 4: Different Types of Jobs
Genesect grinned. "Yeah, both Explorers and Gates had new sets of jobs to do, now taking down criminals and challenges for example!
The rewards for it are also greatly improved, like getting an random egg or an new member for your team!"
He then looks round nervously. "That is what I'm going to say for this one...Not sure why Gates wouldn't let you do multiply jobs at once..."
Number 3: Better Ways to Recruit
Genesect chuckles a bit nervously.
"Okay, this is more of Gates to Infinity than Explorers though both had some improvements.
Basically, in Gates, you can recruit Pokémon a lot more easier with Gifts. Just get a corresponding type gift to an foe and there you have it!"
Genesect nodded.
"In Explorers, I guess having more items to help recruit does help but they're difficult to get...
Stupid Zero Isles...!"
Number 2: Great Music
"Nope! No meteors this time!" Genesect remarked, grinning. He then drops his grin slightly.
"Shame..."
He then shakes his head.
"Anyone can tell you that the music in Explorers and Gates are incredible! From the final boss battle in the story in Explorers and everything else like Wigglytuff's Guld, Treasure Town, Through the Sea of Time, Palkia's Onslaught, the Time Gears theme, The Power of Darkness, ect, ect.
And Gates to Infinity's is great as well!
It can show how much improvement in the musical area can be changed between games!"
Number 1: Better Characterization
"Oh my goodness...!" Genesect went, grinning happily. "...Did the characterization of all the characters was done very well in Explorers and Gates!
Not only did they both introduce the right amount of characters into the game, they also gave them character development more than Red and Blue Rescue Team!
You can feel the development of each character when introduced, like how Loudred and Sunflora talks, to how cunning Dusknoir is, how brutally honest Virizion is, how weird Keldeo is..."
Genesect frowns at that part, not sure about it.
"...and how each character plays a role in the story, like thanks to Bidoof, we were able to get to Crystal Cavern! Or Emolga and Dunsparce were helpful to the players!"
Genesect nodded.
"I think Gates did something well that Red and Blue didn't. Yeah, they gave us plot-friends, which means they join the team just because the plot demands, but also stay within the plot, acting out as individual characters!"
He then frowns.
"Unlike Magnemite and Absol, who do bugger all for the plot once they join!"
Genesect nodded once more.
"Yeah, Explorers and Gates did better when it came to characters, which they improved on from Red and Blue Rescue Team!"
The Angry Bug sighs, as Intoxiquer picks up the stereo and flies out.
"Well, that's all for this discussion. I've made many points about Red and Blue Rescue Team." he remarked, somewhat tired.
"Don't get me wrong. I love Red and Blue Rescue Team! When I got the game off loan from DragonNiro, it was a fantastic game with such a great plot and fights and music!"
He then frowns.
"I have no idea why it would be rated 5 when games like Call of Duty, which is just the same game with some new guns and no story would be higher! FOR GOODNESS SAKE, THEY COME OUT EVERY BLOODY YEAR!"
Taking deep breaths, Genesect sighs.
"I do love these games! They have their own charm, after all..."
He shakes his head.
"Anyway, I'm Genesect, and I'll see you lot on the next Angry Bug Show!"
Genesect walks off screen, leaving the camera to run a little. A sound of a door opening and closing can be heard off screen.
Then, suddenly, a Lopunny, a Gardevoir and a Medicham appear on screen, unaware that the camera is still running.
"Are we too late?" the Gardevoir asked curiously. Lopunny looks round and scowls.
"It appears so! We're too late to make a gag for the Angry Bug Show!"
She glares angrily at the Medicham, who jumps upon sight of the glare. "If it weren't for you and your stupid stomach, we would have made that gag!"
"I-I was hungry!" Medicham stutters angrily.
"Anyway, what you planned was ridiculous from the start! You wanted us to do the Team Charm version of the Spanish Inquisition!"
Then, suddenly, three men dressed in red burst into the room, surprising the three Pokémon.
"No one expects the Spanish Inquisition! Not even Team Charm!" the leader of the three red men yells.
He then points at Medicham, who looks startled. "Cardinal Fang! Cardinal Biggles! Take this Medicham to the TV Room! Make her watch... Teen Titans Go!"
Medicham then proceeds to flee, with the three red men chasing after her, while screaming: "NOTHING BUT THAT!"
Lopunny face-palms while Gardevoir sighs.
"What have we gotten ourself into?"

A/N: And that concludes the discussion on Red and Blue Rescue Team! I actually had to replay through the game to figure out which points I wanted to write about! All in time for Super!
Speaking of Super, and possibly being a bit cheeky for all of you but Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon doesn't come out for me until Spring of 2016. I don't mean to be rude or selfish but can you not do any editorials or talks about it until it comes out in Europe? I don't want to spoil myself about the game, that's all. If you do want to talk about it, I'll just avoid the chapter that you written about. I'm referring to any critics and their authors here. Sorry!
Anyway I hope you enjoyed this chapter! Please leave what you think about the points that Genesect made about Red and Blue Rescue Team! I'll see you lot later on!
