Michael was still surprised on what Sky told him about his birthday wish.
"You want Alex to be your dad?" Michael asked.
"Yeah, I do." Sky answered.
"You want to tell me why?" Michael asked.
"Because I know him and my mom are good friends and they often hang out alone, I even like playing and talking with him." Sky answered.
"So you think your mom is in love with Alex?" Michael asked.
"Yes, my mom always smiles a lot whenever he's with her, and she's always worried about him a lot too." Sky answered.
"But don't you think your mom only likes Alex as a friend?" Michael asked.
"I really want my mom and Alex to be together and get married, so that I can have a dad." Sky answered.
"Look, I know it hasn't been easy for your mom, things haven't been since your dad died, even if I never met him, your mom has told me a lot about him and her friends too, she has told me that her heart will always belong to your dad the one person she would always love and remember. What I'm trying to say is your mom probably thinks that you wouldn't want anyone to replace your dad and doesn't want you to have another dad in your life and maybe she doesn't feel ready to be with someone who isn't your dad. You know what I mean?" Michael explained.
"Yes uncle Michael." Sky responded.
"Now come on let's go enjoy the rest of your birthday party." Michael said and headed their way out.
"Uncle Michael, your not going to mention any of this to my mom, are you?" Sky asked.
"Of course not, I promise I won't tell her it will be our little secret." Michael answered, and saw Jen coming by.
"There you are I've been looking everywhere for you." Jen said when spotting her brother and her son coming out of the house.
"Sorry, we were in the house for a bit, the birthday boy and I we're having a little conversation." Michael said.
"Well I was looking for him because his grandfather has a present for him and knows he's going to like it." Jen said.
"Really, what is it?" Sky asked.
"You have to come and see." Jen answered.
"Okay, come on uncle Michael." Sky said and started to run while Jen and Michael tried to catch up with him.
"Hey there birthday boy we've been waiting for you." Lucas said while recording with the video camera.
"I thought I was the one recording everything." Michael said.
"Well we didn't know where you were so might as well continue recording." Lucas said.
"You know I got it from here, so let me do all the recording." Michael said, getting the camera from Lucas.
"All yours." Lucas said and patted him on the back, Michael then rubbed his shoulder. "Sorry, did I pat you that hard?"
"No, my shoulder is just a little soar from playing with the kids." Michael responded.
"Oh, makes sense." Lucas said, when everyone saw Mr. Collins with a big present in his hands.
"Grandpa is that present for me?" Sky asked.
"Of course it is, your the birthday boy." Mr. Collins answered.
"What are you waiting for little guy, don't you want to know what it is?" Michael asked, while recording with the camera.
"Go ahead Sky open it." Mr. Collins said, when Sky opened the lid off his present and saw something pop out and it was a yellow labrador retriever puppy with a bow around its neck.
"A puppy." Sky said happily surprised when the puppy jumped out of the present and started licking Sky's face while he laughed.
"It looks like he already likes you." Michael said.
"And I like him." Sky said, while the puppy was still licking his face.
"Mr. Collins you didn't have to." Jen said.
"But I wanted to, so he can have a bit more fun, plus I even got a couple of things for the dog too." Mr. Collins said.
"Sky what do you say to your grandfather?" Jen asked.
"Thanks grandpa for the best present ever." Sky answered.
"Your welcome." Mr. Collins responded.
"Mommy is he going to live with us now?" Sky asked, while petting his puppy.
"Well since he is going to be your dog and he is only a puppy will try our best to educate him." Jen responded.
"Does that mean yes?" Sky asked.
"Of course, it is your birthday." Jen answered.
"Thanks mommy." Sky said and hugged his mother.
"This is a perfect shot of mother and son hugging, let me get in with you two." Michael said. "Hey Alex, mind if you hold the camera, so I can join in with my sister and nephew." Michael said.
"Sure." Alex responded, while Michael handed him the camera and joined with Jen and Sky.
"This is what I call the three of us together as a family along with our friends too, celebrating my nephew Sky's birthday." Michael said.
"Don't forget about my new dog." Sky said.
"Right our newest member of our family." Michael said.
"Mommy, can I play with my dog?" Sky asked.
"Sure go ahead, only for a little bit were going to leave soon, okay." Jen answered.
"Okay." Sky said and started to play around with his new puppy.
"Mommy. Daddy. Can we play with Sky's new puppy?" Megan asked her parents.
"Of course you can." Taylor responded and the kids went running to play with Sky and his dog, while everyone watched how much fun the kids were having.
After a long night and picking up everything, everyone then started heading home and said good-bye to each other.
Jen and the rest arrived at the clock tower and were about to rest up for tomorrow to go to work, while Sky was having fun playing with his puppy.
"Okay, sweetie you can play with him tomorrow, it's time for you to go to sleep." Jen said.
"But mommy I'm not tired." Sky said.
"Your usually tired around this hour, why don't you feel tired?" Jen asked.
"Because I don't feel sleepy, I had a lot of fun on my birthday." Sky answered.
"I know you did and I'm glad." Jen said. "Do you want to tell me what you wished for?"
"If I tell you it won't come true." Sky responded.
"You know you can tell me, don't you trust me?" Jen asked.
"Yes mommy I trust you." Sky answered.
"Then tell me, I promise I won't say a word to anyone." Jen said.
"Okay I'll tell you." Sky said.
"Whenever your ready." Jen said.
"I wished that we didn't have to leave here and we could all stay here for a long time." Sky said, when Jen was surprised on what her son told her.
"You actually like it here?" Jen asked.
"Yeah, I really do." Sky answered.
"You want to tell me why?" Jen asked.
"Because I like it here better than home, I know how much you like it here you have a lot of memories of my dad, I like seeing and visiting grandpa everyday, I have friends like Tyler and Megan, even Eric has also been a good friend with me too." Sky explained.
"I know what you mean and I do wish we could too, but..." Jen paused for a minute.
"But what?" Sky asked.
"When first being here I wished I didn't want to go back home and leave, I started to like being here, I was going to miss everything here even your father, I felt I was actually home that this my home. When I left I was sad that I wasn't going to see your father again I really did love him, it was hard for me to forget about him I never loved anyone else who wasn't your father. After a year passed, I was happy to see him again, though I wasn't going to stay for long since I had to go back, and it was really hard for both of us because it was going to be the last time I was going to see your father and not come back anymore." Jen explained, as a couple of tears started started to fall from her eyes.
"Then how did you ended up staying here?" Sky asked.
"A friend once told me when two people love each other they are meant to be together forever. I was happy that I was going to stay here and be with your father, we were finally going to be together and the rest you already know." Jen explained.
"Does that mean you won't love anyone else who isn't my dad?" Sky asked.
"No, no one can take your father's place, it will always be you, me, your uncle Michael, and your grandfather. Do you know what I mean?" Jen answered.
"Yes mommy." Sky responded.
"Now come on, it's time for you to go to sleep, your friend is already tired from playing." Jen said and saw the puppy asleep.
"Okay, good night mommy." Sky said.
"Good night sweetie." Jen responded and kissed her son good night, she then went out on the balcony looking at the moon and the stars, when she heard her brother walking by her.
"I thought you were asleep?" Michael asked.
"I'm just not tired that's all." Jen answered.
"I know what you mean, we all had a great time celebrating Sky's birthday, he had a great time he was really happy." Michael said.
"True, but..." Jen paused for a minute.
"But what?" Michael asked.
"I asked Sky what he wished for his birthday." Jen answered.
"You did. What did he tell you?" Michael asked, and was bit nervous thinking Sky might have told his mother about Alex wanting to be his dad.
"He wished that we all didn't have to leave here and stayed here for a long time." Jen answered.
"Oh! That's what he told you." Michael said relieved on what his sister said.
"Yes, what did you think it was?" Jen asked.
"Nothing, it's just that was the same wish he told me." Michael answered.
"He did. When?" Jen asked.
"I told you we were in the kitchen having a little conversation, we talked about that." Michael answered.
"Right, I remember." Jen said.
"Anyway, did he tell you why he wanted to stay here?" Michael asked.
"He likes it here better than back home and he knows how much I like it here." Jen answered.
"To me it sounds alright if you and Sky stay here you'll live with Mr. Collins, he can see his friends any time he wants, he can even go to school, and even when he grows up, maybe he will never know much about back home." Michael explained.
"You maybe right, but I already told you no matter how much I want to stay here I just will be sad remembering Wes all the time, and I know Sky doesn't want another father in his life." Jen explained.
"Are you sure Sky thinks that?" Michael asked.
"Of course he does, he's a kid and kids don't react well when they have step-fathers or step-mothers as their new moms and dads." Jen answered.
"And you think he wouldn't want you to marry someone else who isn't his dad?" Michael asked.
"Yes, I don't think he doesn't want anyone to take his father's place." Jen answered.
"What happens when you kind of fall for someone, and you know exactly who I'm taking about?" Michael asked.
"I told you before, that will never happen?" Jen answered.
"Yeah, but-" Michael was interrupted.
"But nothing, let's not talk about this anymore, okay." Jen said.
"Okay, understood." Michael responded.
"Night." she said.
"Night." he said, and both walked in and were about to get ready to go to sleep. "If I could tell what he really wished for, but it's best for you to not know yet." Michael thought to himself, while everyone else fell asleep.
