Storybrooke
"This is the room," Leroy said as he led Sam and Bobby into the surveillance room. "Sleepy was the security guard around here, but as the custodian I got a good feel for the equipment. These screens here are live. These show the lobbies and the hallways, these show some of the public wards. This was how Emma and the old sheriff found David after he got out of his coma and went sleep walking," he said amused.
Sam pulled up a chair and began to look at each of the screens. "Thanks, Leroy. Y'know, one day I'm gonna have to ask about this old sheriff everyone keeps talking about."
"So, what are you looking for?" Leroy asked, turning toward Bobby. "I like your hat, brother."
Bobby nodded, "Uh, thanks."
"I'm not sure yet," Sam answered. "But whatever it is we'll be able to get a good wide view of the entire hospital. Leroy," the dwarf looked up, "we caught you on the way in. You never mentioned why you were here though."
Leroy cleared his throat as he looked down at his hands. "Two of my brothers are sick: Sneezy and Doc. They're waiting in the lobby right now."
Sam and Bobby exchanged a look before Sam turned back to Leroy. "Listen, man, you need to get those guys out of here. And anyone else you recognize. But be discreet. I promise that they are far safer outside of this hospital than inside."
Leroy's brow creased as he looked between the men. Then he started laughing, "You can't be serious. This is a hospital. I know I ain't really from around here in the same way you two are, but I think I know that hospitals are where you take sick people and get 'em fixed."
"Listen, we're here because there's something bad in this hospital," Bobby explained. "Something that's causing all these people to be sick. He's luring them here. You need to get your brothers out of here. Now."
Leroy seemed to respect the authority Bobby gave off a little more than he did with Sam. Though Sam couldn't complain. Bobby had that effect on most people he commanded. Leroy nodded, and left the room.
Bobby turned back to Sam as they both settled down in the two chairs provided. The older man cleared his throat, "So, while the others go look for Henry and David… you finally gonna tell me this plan of yours?"
There was a long pause as Sam just stared at the screens, Bobby patiently waiting beside him. Eventually, Bobby pulled out his handy flask and took a swig, then handed it over to Sam.
Sam took the flask and sighed, shaking his head. "You think this is crazy, don't you?"
"What, being in Toon Town while your brother's down a rabbit hole or sitting here waiting for Pestilence to show up?"
There was an almost amused scoff that left Sam's lungs as he downed a gulp of the bitter whiskey. "Either… both."
Bobby took back the flask and took another drink. "Yeah, this whole thing is crazy. But – I don't know. After a year of chasing up zilch, maybe it's time to go crazy."
Sam chuckled, "Yeah, maybe."
"Although, the fairy tales are a bit of a twist."
There was another pause. Sam knew that Bobby was waiting on his answer. It was something that Sam had been thinking about for a while now, but it was, well, crazy.
He tentatively peered up towards the older man. "Bobby, uh – remember that time you were possessed?"
Bobby scoffed, "You mean do I remember the incident that caused me to lose my legs in the first place? Ya, rings a bell."
"When Meg told you to kill Dean, you didn't. You took your body back."
"Just long enough to shank myself, yeah," he replied, taking another drink.
Sam looked back up at the screens. "Well, how'd you do it? I mean, how'd you take back the wheel?"
Bobby leaned forward, looking over Sam's face as the younger man avoided eye contact. He narrowed his eyes. "Why are you asking, Sam?"
Sam grabbed the flask and finished it off before he looked back at Bobby. He shrugged, "Say we end up getting all the rings and we can open Lucifer's cage – great. But then what? We just – we lead the devil to the edge and get him to jump in?"
"You got me," Bobby said with a shrug. "That's what I've been trying to figure out."
Sam took a deep breath, "What if you guys lead the devil to the edge… and I jump in?"
"Sam –"
"It'd be just like when you turned the knife around on yourself," Sam explained, talking a little faster. "One action – just one leap."
Bobby slammed his fist on to the table, "Are you idjits trying to kill me?"
"Bobby –"
"We just got done talking your brother off the ledge before you guys took your little trip here. And now you're lining up to say yes?" Bobby said, his voice still furious.
Sam shook his head. "It's not like that. I'm not gonna do it. Not until we get Dean back and unless we all agree. But I think we've got to look at our options."
"This isn't an option, Sam," Bobby tried to reason.
"Why not?"
He ran his hand over his face. "You can't do it. What I did was a million-to-one. And that was some piss-ant demon. I was brain-wrestling. You're talking about taking back control from Satan himself."
"Yeah," Sam said, a little frustrated by the man's response. He was expecting someone to be upset with his plan, but honestly he was expecting that to come from Dean. "Yeah, I am."
Bobby shook his head and scoffed, looking at Sam like he was about to pray for him. "Kid, it's called 'possession' for a reason. You, of all people, ought to know."
"I'm strong enough."
"You ain't," Bobby countered. "He's gonna find every chink in your armor, Sam, and use it against you. He's got more to work with now, what with you and that Ruby girl. Y'know, the one that just used True Love's kiss to wake you up? He's gonna use your fear, your grief, your anger – and let's face it, you're not exactly Mr. Anger Management. And add love into that mix? How are you gonna control the Devil when you can't control yourself?"
Sam sat back in his chair, mindlessly watching the screens. Of course everything Bobby said had been through Sam's mind. Especially the part about the Devil using Ruby. In retrospect, Sam was internally berating himself for getting involved with the woman. In what universe would he ever have enough of a normal life to properly date someone? Sam knew how this was gonna end. He was either gonna die fighting evil… and he didn't even want to think about what would happen if evil got ahold of him.
But matters were much worse now. Ruby had been able to use True Love's kiss to wake Sam up. Sure, he was extremely grateful that he was no longer in that hell of an inferno. But it meant something deeper. Something that Sam wasn't ready to dive into… not anymore. Not if he were serious about his plan.
That's why he was slightly grateful to have this kind of distraction as soon as he woke up. As soon as they all got to the hospital, the group split up. Ruby told Leroy to take Sam and Bobby to the security room while she and Regina went in search for David and Henry. By now, Henry had been admitted into a private room for examinations.
They were going to try to get Henry out of the hospital, or at least keep him safe if he were too weak to leave. It was Sam and Bobby's job to find out where Pestilence was.
Sam groaned as the screens showed the same things over and over, nothing out of the ordinary creeping up. "A whole building full of people and we don't know who's human, who's demon, and who's Pestilence."
Bobby shrugged, "We just gotta keep our peepers open. Wait for something out of the –"
They both saw it. The top left screen showed a nearly empty hallway. A doctor opened one of the doors and walked out, looked to both sides, and then made his way down the empty hallway. The feed was perfect – except the sliver of static that covered the man's face. Sam was about to comment that it could be something wrong with the picture, until a second camera picked him up as he walked down another hallway toward the elevator, showing the same static across his face as the other screen.
"Yatzee," Bobby breathed out, looking over towards Sam. "Recognize that doctor?"
Sam concentrated on the figure, the way he walked and dressed. In one of the pictures, he was able to catch a glimpse of the man's hair. Finally, he recognized him.
Sam pulled out his cell. First he called Regina, then David. Both went straight to voicemail. "Hey, David. We found him – Pestilence. He just went to the fourth floor, he's about to go into someone's room. Call me back. And whatever you do, don't let Doctor Whale in your room!"
Henry could hardly open his eyes as he laid in the hospital bed. His voice was completely gone and he hardly had the energy to cough or sneeze.
David had been surprised that they gave him his own room, what with the hospital being so busy and everything. He'd recognized some of the people in the waiting room, and everyone seemed to have the same thing as Henry, or some variation of it. David wondered if this was some knew variation of the flu or common cold.
Without a knock, their door opened and Regina flew into the room, Ruby following close behind.
"How's Sam?" David asked, mainly to Ruby. He was still a bit cross with Regina, but when was he ever not?
Ruby reached out and pat David's arm. "He's fine. We woke him up – well, uh, I did."
"How did you –" David began to ask, but the blush on Ruby's cheeks filled in the rest of the dots.
Regina rolled her eyes as she sat on the edge of her son's bed. "Yes, True Love's kiss, the most powerful magic ever, woke him up. That's not why we're here. We have to get Henry out of this hospital."
"What? Why?" David asked.
"Remember how you thought that whatever was making people sick was something Winchester?" Regina asked. David nodded. "Well, you were right. A horseman, they called it, named Pestilence. Sam and Mr. Singer are currently looking for a way to find him, but they definitely think he's here. We just need to get Henry out –"
A knock on their door caused the three to quiet. The door opened. "Knock, knock," Doctor Whale said with a friendly smile as he poked his head through. "Am I interrupting?"
David cleared his throat, "No, of course not. Thank you for seeing Henry so quickly, Doctor Whale. We really appreciate this."
The Doctor grinned at the trio, then looked down at Henry. "Oh, think nothing of it. We can't let anything happen to our boy Henry here, can we?" He shut the door behind him. "The son of the Evil Queen and the Savior? I'm just signing up for a slaughter if I let anything happen to him, huh?"
No one really knew how to respond to that, especially Regina. She was expecting some bad blood, honestly. Especially after everything that happened with Daniel. The last time they'd seen Whale, he was missing an arm. Surly he'd be a little sore with all of them. But he only smiled happily as he approached Henry's bed.
"What's wrong with him?" Regina asked as Whale looked over his monitor.
The Doctor hummed, still looking at the screen. "Well, it's a bit of a proprietary blend I mixed up in a sweet, old petri dish – or should I say a petri tea pot. Anyway, it's a mix between the common cold, dengue fever, and Agrabah encephalitis, something I actually learned from some of the residents from your world."
David's brow furrowed while Regina's mouth dropped and Ruby gasped. All of them could only stare at the Doctor in confusion.
Whale covered his mouth dramatically, "Oops, might have said a bit too much there. Oh, but that's just me isn't it? Always tooting my own horn. I guess formalities are in order. Welcome, I'm Pestilence," he held out his hand for someone to shake.
"What'd you do to Whale?" Ruby was the first to ask.
Pestilence chuckled. "Oh, he's still in here," he tapped his head, "screaming away. Oh, he's watched so many die. Don't worry, no one you all know. No one important. I couldn't risk you all coming too early, now could I. Oh, sweet Prince," he said, calling out David as he tried to pull out his phone, "you won't be needing that. I sort of short circuit things when I'm around them. You can't call Sam that way."
"How do you know he's here?" Regina asked, standing protectively in front of her son.
The horseman shrugged. "The Winchester was bound to show up at some point. You know, I'm under strict orders not to mess with him. Or the other one, wherever he is. But those two maggots… what they did to my brothers," he began to snarl. "Y'know, if Satan wants those vessels so bad he can glue them back together!" There was a pounding on their door that caused David, Regina, and Ruby to jump. Pestilence turned to face the door, then smiled. "Here comes fun."
Slowly, the horseman ran his hands together, then began to twist the bright green ring that sat on his finger.
Suddenly, Ruby began sneezing.
David began to hunch over, like the wind had been knocked out of him.
Regina was the only one not affected. "What's wrong?" she asked David, who could hardly sit up straight.
"My stomach," he barely replied. "I feel like I'm gonna –" before he could finish he ran to the sink and began to hurl. Ruby was now on her hands and knees, gasping for breath.
The pounding on the door grew louder, and Sam and Bobby finally pushed their way through the door. Then, they fell to the ground. Blood began to pour from their mouth as they groaned in pain. The demon blade fell from Sam's hand.
"Sam!" Pestilence greeted, then turned to Bobby. "And you, I don't know you. But you boys don't look well. Mmm, mmm. It might be the, uh, scarlet fever. Or, uh, the meningitis. That's what your friends over here have. Oh," he began to chuckle, "or the syphilis. That's no fun." He walked over and lifted Sam's head by his hair, watching him groan in agony. "However you feel right now – it's gonna get so very, very worse. Questions?"
Regina wasn't sure why she didn't feel sick – but she watched as all of her friends were on the floor dying and she didn't feel a thing. The magic, she realized, it must be blocking his powers.
"Disease gets a bad rap, don't you think?" Pestilence went on, too busy focusing on Sam to realize that Regina was still upright. "For being filthy, chaotic. But, really, that just describes people who get sick. Disease itself is very… pure. Single-minded. Bacteria have one purpose – divide and conquer. That's why in the end, it always wins." Sam began to reach out for his blade, but Pestilence stepped on his hand. "So, you've gotta wonder why God pours all his love into something so messy, and weak. It's ridiculous." He sighed. "All I can do is show him he's wrong, one epidemic at a time. And I think, I'll start off with this charming little town you've got here." He turned back to his victims, pulling out a clipboard. "Now, on a scale of 1 to 10, how's your pain?"
That's when Regina attacked.
She used every force of magic she could pull out and sent it toward the horseman. As soon as she did, the door flew open again and Castiel stood in the doorway. Purple fog surrounded the horseman as Regina kept him against the wall, despite his thrashing against it.
Cas took a step forward, then fell to his knees as he spit blood out of his mouth. Pestilence, still pushed against the wall, laughed maniacally. "Look at that. An occupied vessel, but powerless! Not a speck of angel left in you."
In an instant, just as Regina felt her powers against him fading, Cas leapt off the ground with the demon blade in his hand. He pushed the blade against the wall with Whale's fingers between, cutting off his left ring finger and pinky. "Maybe just a speck," Cas said as Pestilence cried out. He fell to the floor, then collapsed.
Everyone in the room was healthy again, and Sam wasted no time jumping to Whale's amputated finger and pulling the green ring from it.
Ruby ran over to Whale and checked for a pulse. "His heart's still beating."
"That's the doctor," Cas confirmed, gasping for breath. "Pestilence is gone."
"What's going on?"
Everyone turned around to see a healthy Henry sitting upright in his bed. Regina and David ran over to him, throwing their arms around him. Regina ran her hands across his face, asking if he was ok.
Sam wrapped a napkin around the ring and pushed it into his pocket. He turned to the angel, "Cas, where did you come from?"
"I walked," he replied plainly, finally breathing normally. "I felt the energy; I had to come help."
"Thanks, man."
"Don't thank me," Cas turned toward Regina. "It was the witch who throttled the horseman."
Regina stood up and crossed her arms, "Yeah, about that. Why was I the only one who didn't get sick? Was it my magic?"
Cas nodded. "I think so. When Rumplestilskin tried to use his magic against me before, he was ineffective. I don't pretend to be an expert in your magical ways, but I believe magical and mystical powers end up cancelling each other out eventually."
"It was because you were using your magic for good," Henry announced, matter-of-fact-like.
"Well, I'll just say it's nice to actually score a home run for once," Bobby spoke up, brushing off his pants. "Uh, someone gonna put that guy's fingers back on his hand?"
Regina walked over to Whale and used her magic to reattach his fingers. She spun around on her heels and shot up from the ground, her eyes wide. "Gold," she turned toward Sam, "we have to go stop him. He's about to do something crazy!"
"I think he might have already," Ruby announced, hanging up her phone. "That was Leroy. He went to check on the other dwarves in the mine. When he went down there, it was gone."
"What was?" David asked.
"The fairy diamonds. They're gone. They're all gone. All the magic has been drained from the mines."
Sam looked toward Regina. She nodded, "Gold."
Enchanted Forest
Mary Margaret readied her bow and shot, slicing the arrow through the air and straight for the compass, knocking it out of Cora and Hook's hand.
"You're not going anywhere!" Mary Margaret called from the opposite side of Lake Nostos, standing next to Dean and Emma. The ashes had already been poured into the magical waters.
"This portal is taking us home!" Emma yelled.
Dean shrugged Emma's arm. "The compass, we need to get it!"
Cora leaned over to Hook, "Find it first. I'll take care of them."
Dean was the first to run around the opposite side of the lake. He held up his sword and lunged at Hook. Emma and Mary Margaret began fighting off Cora, who started throwing fire balls at them.
Hook met Dean's sword with his own. Now, Dean was no fencing master. Hell, the only thing he welded that even came close to a sword was a machete. And that was usually a head shot. But his adrenaline was racing and he began to throw in knife fight moves, along with the occasion kick to the chest. Eventually, the pirate was able to disarm Dean, causing him to scramble to get back to his sword.
Emma had Mulan's sword, and she was using it to deflect the magical fire balls as she tried attacking the witch. But when she thrust the blade towards her, Cora disappeared in a puff of magical smoke, causing Emma to knick the bag containing Dean's heart. The bag flew into the air, straight over the portal.
"No!" Emma yelled, reaching out to catch it.
Just in time, Hook leaned backwards and used his hook to catch the strap of the satchel, stopping it before it fell into the abyss.
Dean, who had reached his sword and turned back in time to see Hook save his heart, furrowed his brow. Hook untangled the straps and tossed the satchel to Dean. "I may be a pirate, but I bristle at the thought of anyone losing their heart. Unless it's over me," he said with a smirk.
"What's your deal, Hook?" Dean called over the roar of the portal. "You don't seem like the soft side type. You ripped out my heart, and then you save it?"
Their swords clashed, the metal sparking as they engaged in battle again. "I'm not – I just like a fair fight. I'm quite simple, mate. I have an objective: get to Storybrooke."
"Kill Rumplestilskin, you mean," Dean corrected, lunging in to his rather sloppy attack. He was trying not to focus too much on the fact that he believed Hook was going easy on him. That meant that he was in for a rather unfortunate turn when Hook decided to stop playing nice.
"It's all the same, in the end." Clink, clink. "Good form!" Dean tried to kick him again, but Hook caught his foot with his hook. "But not good enough." He flipped Dean on his back.
Meanwhile, Cora was toying with Emma and Mary Margaret.
Dean was on his back holding his sword defensively while Hook stood over him. "Y'know, Winchester. In another life I think we could have been good mates. But with my life on the line, you've left me no choice."
Dean scoffed, "What are you talking about? I thought we were best of buds!"
Hook pushed his sword harder against Dean's skin. "Bit of advice. When I jab you with my sword, you'll feel it."
"Dude," Dean said, cringing, "I don't swing that way."
"Give it up, Winchester. You might as well quit."
"Why would I do that?" he asked, reaching through the sand underneath him and grabbing the compass. He'd seen it while they were fighting and was waiting for the exact opportunity to grab it. Luckily, when Hook knocked him on his ass, he'd landed right on top of it. He held up the compass, "I'm winning!"
In his moment of shock, Dean pushed Hook as hard as he could off of him and jumped to his feet. He raised his sword just in time with Hook's. The blades slid together as they hit the ground, leaving the perfect spot open for Dean to make his move. In one swift swing, Dean punched Hook so hard that the pirate fell to his back.
"Finally!" he yelled, turning back toward the others.
By now, Cora had knocked Emma and Mary Margaret on their backs using her magic. Mary Margaret stood up holding her bow ready when Cora stalked up towards her.
Mary Margaret shook her head. "Why do you want to go to Storybrooke?"
"Because my daughter needs me," she answered simply. "And now I'm going to give her the one thing she's always wanted – your heart. Goodbye, Snow."
She reached her hand out, but Emma pushed Mary Margaret out of the way just in time.
"No!" Dean yelled, running toward them as Cora's hand plunged into Emma's chest.
Cora laughed, "Oh, you foolish girl! Don't you know?" she asked, wrapping her hand around her heart. "Love is weakness."
She tried to pull her heart out, but she couldn't. There was something stopping her – Emma's heart was unable to be removed. Cora began to panic.
Emma stood up straight and narrowed her eyes at the witch. "No. It's strength!"
If Dean hadn't seen it with his own eyes, he would have never believed it. Emma began to give off a white light, and then a pulse of energy blasted from her body, pushing Cora away and knocking her out.
Dean and Mary Margaret ran to Emma's side as Emma began to freak out. "What was that?!"
Mary Margaret ran her hand across her daughter's cheek. "That is a great subject for discussion… when we get home!"
They ran to the edge of the lake, all holding on to the compass, about to jump in.
"Ready? Let's go!"
Storybrooke
The Impala pulled up to a spot in the forest. It was Regina's best guess at where the portal would open up – where Mr. Gold would be.
When Sam parked, Regina, David, and Henry all ran out of the car and came face to face with Mr. Gold standing in front of the wishing well. The opening to the well was glowing green, lightening and sparks flying out of it. Anything that went either in or out would be vaporized; anyone coming through would die.
"Mr. Gold! Stop this!" Henry cried out.
Sam agreed, "What the hell do you think you're doing?!"
Mr. Gold shook his head, "You're blinded by your ignorance."
"You're going to kill them!" David yelled, running towards Mr. Gold. The man used his magic to push him to the ground, knocking him out.
"Stop!" Henry screamed.
"I can't let Cora come through that portal," Mr. Gold explained. "And since I'm the only one taking her seriously, this is what has to be done."
"Emma and Mary Margaret and Dean are going to defeat her," Henry shouted with confidence. "They're the ones that are gonna come through! Good always defeats evil! You should know better than anyone – tell him mom!"
Regina looked between Sam and Henry, contemplating what everyone was saying. On one hand, Cora coming into their lives would be the worst hell imaginable and would put Henry's life in jeopardy. But on the other hand, killing those three would be unforgivable, and she would surely lose her son and Sam forever.
"Regina," Sam said, his eyes begging her to help them.
Henry pulled Regina to look down at him. "They're going to come through, I know it! You said you wanted to change, to be better. This is how. You want me to have faith in you? Have faith in me. Have faith in Sam."
Regina stared at her son, soaking in his words before she turned around. She walked straight to the well, despite Gold's objections. She held out her arms over the toxic energy and began to absorb it. It surged through her body until it threw her to the ground. The well was back to normal – but nothing happened.
"No!" Henry and Sam yelled in unison as they realized that it might have been too late.
Regina was laying on the ground, her body exhausted and worn, tears in her eyes as she repeated "I'm sorry."
A few of the slowest seconds time ever produced slipped by, Sam and Henry staring hopelessly at the well – before a hand appeared. Then another.
Emma began to pull herself up over the ledge.
"Mom?" Henry whispered.
Emma helped Mary Margaret up, and then Dean.
"Dean!" Sam called, grabbing Henry's arm and pulling him forward.
Emma looked around and called out for Henry, wrapping him in her arms. "Oh, I missed you!"
"I missed you too!"
Sam helped a breathless Dean stand up before he forcefully pulled him in to a tight hug.
"Woah, easy there, Sammy. You know how I am with flying."
"Shut up, Dean," Sam said with a chuckle, squeezing his brother a little harder.
Mary Margaret looked at Regina and David laying on the ground. "What's going on? What happened?" She ran over and helped a now conscious David begin to stand up. When he realized it was her, he wrapped her in his arms and kissed her.
"She saved you," Henry explained as Regina began to stand up. "She saved you all."
"The Evil Queen?" Dean asked, his brow furrowing.
Sam playfully smacked his brother on the back and chuckled. "Her name's Regina, man. And she did."
"Thank you," Emma said, squeezing her son again as she smiled at the mayor.
Regina nodded, "You're welcome."
Emma took a few steps down, approaching Regina. "Your mom – uh – she's a piece of work, you know?"
"Indeed I do. Welcome back."
Dean walked over to them, unwrapping the satchel from around his middle. "Hey, so – how do I put this back in?" he asked, pulling out his own heart.
"Is that your heart?!" Sam asked, standing over him.
Henry's eyes widened, "Cool!"
Regina took the heart from Dean and held it up. "I can only imagine whose handy work this was. Hold still. This may tickle." She took the heart into both of her hands and placed it over the chest, then used her magic to push it back in.
Dean gasped for air.
"You okay?" Sam asked, still a bit surprised that Dean didn't have his heart.
Dean opened his eyes and looked to Sam, his eyes a bit watery. He wrapped his arms around him and gave him a proper hug. Then he turned to Emma, who looked relieved.
He pulled her close to him and ran his hand through her hair, "Still think that wasn't me before?"
Emma blushed before she wrapped her hand around the back of his head, then pulled him into her. His lips pushed against hers in that familiar way, just enough for a quick, deep kiss before Emma pulled away.
She looked down at her son and pulled him in for another hug before Dean turned toward the Impala.
"Ohhhh Baby!" he said, running toward his car. "I missed you most!"
Sam walked over to Regina, "Are you okay?" She nodded.
Henry turned to them and wrapped his arms around Regina. "I was right. You have changed. Thank you."
Regina began to tear up as she hugged her son back. She kissed the top of his head. "It's not all me, Henry. It was you, and Sam. My biggest support group. I couldn't have done it without you."
"Come on," Mary Margaret called, David's arm wrapped around her. "We've got some catching up to do."
"Oh, you have no idea. Granny's?" David suggested, pulling his daughter in for a hug.
Emma chuckled, "As long as it's not Chimera, I'm in."
"Did someone say burgers?" Dean spoke up.
"Hey, kid," Emma called backwards, "you hungry?"
"Yeah," Henry answered.
They all began to walk towards the Impala, Mary Margaret and David volunteered to walk back to town. As Emma, Henry, Dean, and Sam began to pile into the car, Sam turned around. Regina was still standing by the well, alone. He called out to her, "Are you coming?"
Regina looked up, "I'm – I'm invited?"
"Of course," he said looking to Dean.
Dean shrugged. "Yeah, why not?"
Regina smiled, then walked over to the car, sliding into the back seat next to Henry.
Dean cranked up the engine, turned up the stereo loud and let the sound of a Led Zeppelin intro wail through the speakers. Henry cheered, Emma and Regina laughed at their son's excitement, and they began to drive back into town, honking as they passed by Mary Margaret and David.
Little did they know that off in the foggy distance, slicing through the ocean, sailed a ship with two passengers.
A pirate ship.
Yay! The great saga of them being stuck in the Enchanted Forest is finally over! And the third horseman defeated! Woo!
"RHatch89: good update :)" Thank you! :)
"TimeKaiser: Wow! Having Dean be the one with his heart taken was a brilliant move! I really loved it how you used that as a way for Emma to finally acknowledge that Graham was telling the truth as well! And that moment with Regina choosing her son over Gold's agenda! That was mind-blowing! I swear it's like you started this story out as all the fireworks and the electrical parade happening at Disneyland and California Adventure simultaneously but by now its like every public fireworks display for the 4th of July happening simultaneously in all 50 states!" Wow! That's such an amazing compliment! Lol. I'm glad my story is so sparkling! haha. And I'm glad that Dean getting his heart taken was well received! And I'm totally going to take advantage of every opportunity to bring back long dead characters who never got a proper wrap up that I can get! Graham was first on my list lol.
"Voight: Yup story is making headway. Wonder what'll happen with the fight with Cora and Hook especially now that they have Dean's heart. And you really did an accurate job with making Dean 'hallow'. Emma's got her work cut out for her. Keep up the great work!" Thank you! I tried to incorporate all the different ways the show has shown heartless people so far. Because like, Graham was sort of mindless at times, doing what he thought he was supposed to be doing and all that. And Cora was emotionally heartless, unable to love or care in any real kind of way. But it was sort of the way that Regina was heartless from season 3 that I took from mostly. Because while she still was sort of brash and blunt, she could still care and she was able to without a lot of emotion getting in the way or hindering her. So, yeah lol.
