Derek had been absolutely correct; the training proved to be quite difficult and a bit taxing on Sarah's body. Derek was smart though, he worked Sarah up to the workouts so that her body didn't give out on her within the first week. A lot of it was just basic exercise to get her body back into the shape it had been when she'd done sports. But she was getting to be stronger than she'd been lately. She still needed an inhaler during the heavy cardio days, and her shins had to be iced after almost every training session they completed. But still, there was a noticeable difference in the toning of her body just after three weeks.
And then he taught her how to defend herself. After which came the offense; which she had more difficulties with. "This is not my strongest point. No matter what sport I was in, I was always in defense. It's what I'm used to." She stated from the floor one afternoon. They'd spent two hours on this move and Sarah still wasn't getting it.
"You know what you're doing." Derek had to give her that. "But so do I. It's all about strategizing. Use that move, but make it your own." It took a few minutes, but Sarah felt an idea spring, one that Derek saw. He smiled as Sarah maneuvered into the roundhouse kick that they'd choreographed, which he caught again with ease and made to toss her to the ground. But this time, he felt Sarah latch onto his legs with her arms which sent him tumbling down with her. She quickly uprighted herself again and did a victory dance that made Derek roll his eyes, smiling nonetheless. Sarah held out her hand to help Derek up, but he only pulled her down with him. Her breath left her for a moment and she still didn't recover when Derek straddled her. "Never let your guard down."
"I beat you!"
"No, you started dancing when you thought I was down."
"You were down."
"And now you're down."
"Because you cheated!" Derek smirked. "Oh, is this where you tell me that if I turn my back for a second, they'll come after me? I know that, Derek. I did a victory dance because I finally one-upped you. You're not the enemy. And if you were, I'd find some way to have a weapon on me so I could off him for good."
"Then do it again." Sarah pursed her lips and then used what upper-body strength she had gained to flip Derek over so she was straddling him.
"No." She smirked. "I'm too tired."
"But not too tired to hold me hostage."
"I'm actually quite comfortable up here." She relaxed more, easing herself against Derek's hips. His throat ran dry and his body tensed up a bit and quickly turned the tables once again, spinning around, Sarah letting out a cry of laughter. Her legs were still around Derek's and she sat in between his crossed ones. One of Derek's arms was wrapped around her waist and the other brought her face closer to his so he could kiss her. "What, no words of inspiration for my being exhausted by your hand?"
"Well, you're not exhausted for the right reasons." Sarah swallowed and raised an eyebrow. "Besides, you look very tempting like this."
"Oh, sweaty and smelly?" Derek chuckled. "Or are you saying that you can't control your hormones? Because it shouldn't matter what I'm wearing." Sarah was referring to her comfortable harem beach pants and cropped tank.
"No, you're right. You always look tempting." He kissed her again and they ditched the clothes that were apparently too tempting for Derek to continue training her.
I know, I know, I keep saying that I'm going to publish more often, but school and theatre has been taking up a lot of my time. Here's a belated New Year's chapter. I hope you like it; please review and let me know what you think. :)
