Baby Violet had a lot of visitors in the days following her birth. Most of the Hope Valley women and men stopped by the Coulter house to see Violet and to provide meals for everyone and gifts for the baby (Florence and Molly had also brought presents for Lilly and new big brother Aaron). Even Lee's parents came down from Edmonton to see their newborn granddaughter and be there for her upcoming baptism.

The Saturday before Violet was to be baptized, John and Debbie Coulter arrived in Hope Valley, much to the Coulter family's joy. As soon as they stepped off the carriage, Aaron and Lilly immediately jumped into their grandparents' arms, "Grandma, Grandpa!" they both shouted happily.

"There's my little Lady Bug and my little Teddy Bear," John hugged them both, "How are you doing, Lee?" he asked his son.

"Exhausted," Lee admitted, "I forgot how tiring taking care of a newborn is."

"Violet cries a lot," said Lilly.

"Even in the middle of the night," added Aaron.

John and Debbie chuckled, "That's normal for babies. You both did too and so did your father," said Debbie.

Lee loaded his parents' bags into the car and everyone drove over to the Coulter house. "You should see our new house Grandma and Grandpa. It's so much bigger than our other one," said Aaron excitedly.

"I no longer have to share a room with Aaron!" chimed in Lilly.

"Lillian Naomi," Lee warned lightly.

"What?" asked Lilly innocently.

When they arrived at the new house, John widened his eyes and said, "Wow, I am thoroughly impressed by how well you did."

"Oh yes. All of Hope Valley came together to help my family and the Thornton family complete our houses," said Lee.

"We can give you a tour," said Aaron excitedly.

"We can start with my room," said Lilly.

"Okay guys, I'm pretty sure Grandma and Grandpa want to see Violet first," said Lee.

He opened the front door and Rosemary was in the living room with Violet in her arms. She smiled when she saw her parents-in-law, "John, Debbie, it's so good to see you," she smiled.

"Good to see you too, Rosie," John smiled.

"John, Debbie, meet your granddaughter, Violet Noelle Coulter," Rosemary smiled at the bundle in her arms.

"Hi Violet," Debbie smiled at her granddaughter.

"Lee, Rosemary, she is beautiful, just like her mother," John complimented.

"That she is," Lee smiled at his wife and youngest daughter.

"Lee," Rosemary blushed, "Well, Violet has been fed and I have dinner on the table. It would be nice to get reacquainted," said Rosemary.

The next morning, the Coulters were up bright and early for Violet's baptism. Lilly wore her yellow dress and Violet was in a white Baptismal gown. After everyone had arrived at the Hope Valley Church, Frank began the ceremony, "Welcome to each one of you. For the few of you who don't know me, my name is Pastor Frank Hogan and we're here today to participate in the Christening Sacrament and to give thanks and celebrate our joy in the arrival of a precious child.

Rosemary and Lee want to share their joy with you and they look forward to your continuing involvement with their child's life in the years ahead. They are also aware of the great responsibility that is now theirs. A great deal of their lives will be involved in caring for their child, and guiding her through the many paths of life. As the years go by, their role as parents will be assisted and enhanced by each one of you here today, as well as by the friends and elsewhere that are unable to be here. The Christening of a child is an important rite of passage to those that recognize the role that God plays in our lives. The Bible tells us that it is God's will that children be brought to Him for blessing. We are reminded of a story in the book of Matthew, chapter 19, where little children were brought to Jesus for Him to place His hands on them and pray for them. Jesus's disciples felt perhaps that the children were not important enough to warrant Christ's time and energy, and they turned them away. However, Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these', Then He took the children in His arms, placed His hands on each of them, and blessed them… Let us pray. Dear Lord, as we gather here, may Your Holy Spirit surround us and rejuvenate us. We pray that out of Your glorious riches, You may strengthen this child with Your Spirit, so that Christ may dwell in her heart though faith. And we pray that this child, being rooted and established in love, may know the love of God that surpasses all knowledge, so that she may be filled to the measure with the fullness of God. Amen. I will now ask the parents to bring forward their daughter to be christened. Other family members may come forward as well," Frank instructed.

Lee and Rosemary smiled as they came forward, Rosemary holding Violet in her arms. John and Debbie ushered Lilly and Aaron to the front as well, "We're ready Pastor Frank," smiled Lilly.

"Okay," he placated her, "Rosemary and Lee, with the help of God, will you do all that you can to provide your daughter with love, comfort, encouragement, sustenance, shelter, and protection from harm?"

Lee and Rosemary both answered, "We will."

Frank continued, "God our creator, we thank You for the wonder of new life and for the mystery of human love. We thank You for all whose support and skill surround and sustain the beginning of life. We thank You that we are known to You by name and loved by You for all eternity. Rosemary and Lee, have you chosen Godparents for your child?"

Lee and Rosemary looked at Jack and Elizabeth and said, "Yes, we have."

"Please have them come forward," said Frank. Jack and Elizabeth smiled at each other before they stepped forward, "Please tell us your names."

"Jack Thornton, Pastor," answered Jack.

"Elizabeth Thornton," Elizabeth affirmed.

"Jack, with the help of God, will you do all that you can to help and support Rosemary and Lee in the bringing up of their daughter?" asked Frank.

"I will," Jack stated.

"Elizabeth, with the help of God, will you do all that you can to help and support Rosemary and Lee in the bringing up of their daughter? "

"I will," Elizabeth answered.

"God our creator, we thank You for the gift of this child, entrusted to our care. May we be patient and understanding, ready to guide and to forgive, so that through our love she may come to know Your love; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen Eternal Father, we ask that You pour Your blessings into this water, and sanctify it for our use today. In Christ's name," Frank took Violet into his arms and asked, "Rosemary and Lee, what name have you given your child?"

Rosemary smiled at Violet and said, "Violet Noelle Coulter."

Frank smiled and said, "Then I hereby christen Violet Noelle Coulter," Frank dipped his hand into the Holy Water and made the Sign of the Cross on Violet's forehead, "And, by the authority vested in me by God and His Church, I hereby baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen. As Jesus took children in His arms and blessed them, so now we ask God's blessing on Violet," Frank handed Violet back to Rosemary, "Heavenly Father, we praise You for Violet's birth - surround her with Your blessings that she may know Your love, be protected from evil, and know Your goodness all her days. May she learn to love all that is true, grow in wisdom and strength and, come through faith to the fullness of your Grace. May God the Father of all bless these parents and Godparents and give them Grace to love and care for their child. May God give them wisdom, patience, and faith, and help them to provide for Violet's needs. Eternal Father, we thank You for the rich variety of the families you have created for us, and for the relationships which we see and enjoy within them. Help us to respect and learn from each other. We thank You too for love that binds the families that are here today, and ask Your blessing on them. Heavenly Father, whose blessed Son shared at Nazareth the life of an earthly home, bless the home of this child, may it provide shelter, warmth, and security to the family and to all those who visit. All this we ask in Jesus's name."

"Amen," everyone affirmed.

"Violet, today we officially welcome you. We wish you long life and much happiness. May you face all challenges that come to you as a person of integrity. May you continue to bring great joy to your parents, your grandparents, family, friends, and to all those who come to know you. May beauty delight you and happiness uplift you. May wonder fulfill you and love surround you. May your step be steady and your arm be strong; may your heart be peaceful and your word be true. May you seek to learn, may you learn to live. May you live to love, and may you love – always," Frank looked up at the congregation, "The Lord bless you and watch over you, the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious unto you, the Lord look kindly on you and give you peace. May the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you always."

"And also with you," everyone responded.

Frank smiled and announced, "Ladies and gentlemen, it is my honor to present to you the newest member of Christ's Church and the Hope Valley community, Violet Noelle Coulter!"

At the Coulter residence, everyone in Hope Valley was gathered to celebrate Violet's baptism. The kids were playing outside while the adults talked inside, though Jack and Lee were playing baseball with some of the boys. Clara was currently interacting with baby Violet, though the infant wasn't much for interaction yet, "She is so precious," said Clara.

"Now that you're a married woman, are we going to be seeing a little Flynn anytime soon?" asked Rosemary.

Clara smiled, but shook her head, "If it happens, it happens, but Jesse and I aren't rushing into parenthood right away. Right now, we're enjoying time as a newly married couple."

"Understandable," said Rosemary. Clara went to go find her husband while Rosemary attempted to get Violet to go to sleep. Most everyone was in either the kitchen or the front yard, so Gowen had made his way away from everyone into the living room, though he hesitated to join Rosemary when he saw her with Violet, "It's okay Mr. Gowen. You can come in and have a seat," she motioned to one of the chairs.

Gowen nodded and sat down in the chair, "So how has the new house been for you and your family?"

"It's been working out well. It's big enough for all five of us. We were starting to get cramped in the old one. Speaking of the old house, did the Cantrells accept the offer of the Thornton's old house?"

"They did," nodded Gowen, "Said they wanted to start fresh after the miscarriage."

Rosemary glanced down at Violet and then looked back up at Gowen, "Mr. Gowen, I believe you're the only person in Hope Valley who hasn't come to visit Violet yet."

"I know. I figured you all didn't want me to come by and visit her," admitted Gowen.

Violet had fallen fast asleep in Rosemary's arms, so she asked, "Did you want to hold her, Mr. Gowen?"

Gowen seemed a little surprised at the offer, but he nodded in affirmation, "Sure."

Rosemary got up from the sofa and carefully handed Violet to Gowen, "Just make sure you support her head and neck."

Gowen rocked her a little in his arms before he commented, "She's a perfect mix of you and Mr. Coulter unlike your other two children looking like one parent over the other."

Rosemary nodded, "Yes, she does."

Gowen knew about Rosemary's struggles after Lilly's birth, but he was hesitant to bring it up, "Mrs. Coulter?" Rosemary looked up at him, "After Lilly's birth…I mean I know you once had…that postpartum disease…"

Rosemary finally held up her hand to stop him and said, "I've been feeling just fine."

"Okay, good," said Gowen.

Violet started to squirm and fuss in his arms, so Rosemary took her back and said, "I think it's time for me to feed her."

"Well, I'll let you have your privacy," Gowen stood to leave, "And congratulations on her birth."

"Thank you, Mr. Gowen. That means a lot," answered Rosemary.
