ARM, WHY DO YOU HATE ME SO? D: (AKA still no reviewer replies because I've still got one arm D:)

So, I wanted to update earlier but I had coursework to do and music assessments to prepare for. Long story short about the music: my teacher gave me 6 pages of piano music to learn in about four school days where I was doing coursework and exams almost everyday after school. I managed to do it pretty well in my assessment considering that and the fact that I only had one arm AND THEN I FIND OUT THAT NOBODY ELSE IN MY CLASS WAS GIVEN SUCH A HARD THING TO LEARN AND EVERYONE ELSE PLAYING THE PIANO HAD AN EASIER SONG TO LEARN AND ARRRRGGGGGHHHHH.

Okay, now happier stuff: 15 reviews until 1000 :D And here I was thinking that this fanfic would crash and burn… Its kind of nice that we've reached this point at the beginning of the canon plot. Don't ask why, it just is in my brain :)

CLEARLY I HAVE FOUND IN MY REVIEWS TWINS SEPARATED FROM BIRTH XD

Reborn hadn't been looking forwards to going to Japan. He'd been informed by Iemitsu exactly what his son would most likely be like and, to be honest, the thought bored him a little.

According to his father, Sawada Tsunayoshi was practically a carbon copy of Dino when he was younger. They were both useless, were not cut out for the mafia at all and cry babies. Of course, that nature did give him a source of amusement as he could scare them to death quite easily and let leash his sadistic nature but after having gone through it all with Dino, Reborn really didn't find it all too appealing to have to do that same all over again with Tsuna.

So bored by the prospect of it all, Reborn didn't bother doing any more research on the boy other than listening to Iemitsu gush about him for a while and Timoteo explain how Tsuna had great potential. At least by making it up as he went along would be some source of entertainment, wouldn't it?

It wasn't as if Reborn would remain forever bored by the boy. Most likely as soon as he got stuck into his tutoring he would start to enjoy himself and forget about how he had been through all of this before. It was just now as he had just completed his training of Dino who had blossomed into a fine mafia boss (not that he'd ever admit it to the idiot), it just felt annoying to have to go back to square one again.

As a result of his annoyance, Reborn didn't take any heed to Timoteo's half amused expression when Iemitsu had explained that Tsuna was sadly quite the wimp or the knowing look when Iemitsu mentioned that Tsuna had fainted a few times when he was young. Really, he should have taken greater notice of it all as he was the greatest hitman in the world but he hadn't been bothered to see the small hints of what was to come. It was a stupid mistake.

Iemitsu had called up Nana to tell her that hiring Reborn as a tutor was a good idea and his wife had agreed quite happily, probably pleased with having been able to hear his voice again for god knows how long. Reborn knew that the man hadn't been home for years on end and would have disapproved but with Iemitsu's standing in the mafia there wasn't really any other good choices with how he hadn't even wanted his family to get involved with the Vongola.

Tsuna really shouldn't have had to ever get involved with the Vongola to start with. It was just a series of surprising and tragic events that had led the Vongola to have no other choice but to make him aware of his heritage. Ideally, Tsuna would have gotten involved eight years ago when all other candidates had been killed off and Xanxus had 'mysteriously disappeared' for some years, Timoteo announcing he was no longer in the running for the title Vongola Decimo.

But of course that blasted Momokyokai had made a big deal about one of their members having been attacked by the Varia and put up that stupid defense line. No one could get in after that, not even Iemitsu, to get Tsuna out once it was decided he would be Vongola Decimo.

Reborn had always had his doubts about the Momokyokai boss and they were affirmed once he had met him upon arriving at Namimori to ask for his permission to stay there. He was a cruel man but extremely intelligent and calculating, already seeming to figure out how he could get what he wanted from the arcobaleno. Apparently the death of his wife hadn't done much to lessen his cruelty.

"So," Itsuki smirked at Reborn from his seat, the illusionist Reborn knew to be Schwarz standing by his side almost protectively. "What could the greatest hitman in the world want from me?"

He's mocking me. Reborn considered shooting the man but decided against it. That would cause several complications and the Vongola did not want the number one illusionist Schwarze Nacht to be against them for such a petty reason. "I am here to tutor a candidate for the title of Vongola Decimo."

A gasp. A faked gasp. "The future Vongola Decimo has been here in Namimori all this time? Right under my nose?"

Reborn's eyes narrowed. So he did know, even back then. "How did you know he was here?"

Itsuki simply continued to smirk. "What do you mean? I've just found out today."

"Don't play games with me, Itsuki."

Schwarz's mouth curled down slightly in disapproval and he moved his hand, but Itsuki stopped him with a look. "Reborn, I don't quite think you understand this situation. I am not obligated to tell you anything." The Yakuza boss was no longer smirking, expression serious. "Namimori is my turf and I will not hesitate to have you removed if I decide your presence is more harmful here than beneficial. So give me a reason right now as to why I should let you train Sawada Tsunayoshi."

He'd known all along, Reborn decided. The arcobaleno had thought so since he had found out about Tsuna being the next boss. After all, Itsuki wasn't the kind of person to particularly care if one of his men were attacked. Him setting up the Namimori defense line wasn't something he would really think about unless there were another reason for it.

The question is, how did he know?

Reborn bit back a sigh. No, he couldn't think about that right now. He needed to focus on the situation as if he had to resort to use force then there would be hell to pay later. "I've got money."

"You know I don't care about that shit." Came the immediate response.

"Then what?"

"Favors." Itsuki's eyes danced dangerously. "I want three favors from you."

"What are they?" Reborn was immediately faced with a laugh that cut through the tense air, the man looking genuinely amused.

"I don't want them now, I want to get good use out of them. But when I think of one you are going to have to fulfill it then and there, understood?"

A restrained glare. "If its unreasonable-"

"I don't give a fuck if its unreasonable. You'll do it."

Reborn stood there in silence for a few moments, thinking. Was it worth it? Its only three favors. But he could ask for anything. He's difficult to understand. "...Fine."

"Swear it." Itsuki ordered.

"I swear I will do those three favors you will ask of me."

A smile. "Is a pleasure doing business with you." The words rolled off his tongue with great relish, clearly being pleased he had gotten what he wanted. "You may stay here and train Vongola Decimo."

Itsuki: Mafioso personnel entered Namimori. Don't pay any attention to him, paid for entry and I can kick him out if he is too annoying though it'll take some effort.

Kyoko: Why would I need to know this? Fine, I'll ignore him.

Reborn took his time in finding the Sawada house, instead surveying Namimori instead and learning its layout. It was easy enough to learn it and win the hearts of a few girls passing by who thought him to be utterly adorable (he could use them later perhaps in some training schemes). Eventually he approached the house, picking the lock to the door easily and entering silently. Voices resounded from what he presumed was the kitchen and he stood in the doorway, listening.

"Tsu, come on. Do it for me?" The woman who Reborn recognized to be Nana (the love struck idiot Iemitsu had several pictures of her on him at all times) pleaded, her hand stretched across the table to touch her son's hand, Tsuna's back to the arcobaleno. There was a few moment of silence before the boy gave in.

"Alright. Although I might have to cancel some dates with Sayaka if I'm going to be tutored…"

...Wait, dates?

Tsuna, the kid that Iemitsu said couldn't even talk to a girl without stuttering or forgetting what he had to say, had a girlfriend?

Something was wrong. Even the way Tsuna spoke made alarm bells go off in Reborn's head.

"Okay, okay, I owe you then Tsu. What do you want this time?"

"I'm not quite sure yet but I'll let you know~"

Teasing. Tsuna was able to joke and tease people. The same Tsuna who Iemitsu said was too embarrassed to try to be funny around even his own parents.

He could have just grown out of that stage. Part of his mind piped up.

No, he couldn't have changed this much. He couldn't have.

"Tsu, you are a cheeky rascal!" Nana stood up and ruffled her son's hair, Reborn starting to approach them both, mind whirring. "Love you anyway though."

It was then Tsuna suddenly tensed and Reborn knew instinctively his presence had been noticed.

Normal people wouldn't notice him until he spoke.

What the hell is going on?

The boy turned fast and looked down, eyes widening in surprise. And those eyes were what decided it for Reborn. He couldn't sense flames as well as Timoteo could but he felt it as soon as Tsuna looked at him. Flames burning all around him. Eyes burned slightly with this unnatural orange color.

"Ciaossu." Reborn's lips automatically quirked into an arrogant smirk. "I am Reborn, the home tutor you called."

As Nana gasped and Tsuna stared at him, Reborn mentally scowled.

Iemitsu, everything you told me about your son was utter bullshit.

There was a long silence that followed Reborn's proclamation, Tsuna eventually breaking it by looking up at his mother. "Mum-"

Nana sighed. "Tsu, I'm sure your father didn't know about this."

"But he recommended it to you personally." There was slight venom in his voice. So he doesn't like his father at all.

Don't blame him. Iemitsu hasn't been home for years.

"There is no mistake," Reborn butted in. "I am the home tutor that Sawada Iemitsu recommended.

Tsuna looked down at him again, opening his mouth and then closing it. There was slight apprehension in his posture, slight hesitation to say anything like he knew how strong he was. Within a moment Reborn recognized how and his mental scowl grew even deeper.

Timoteo, you knew he had hyper intuition and said nothing.

"Here," Reborn tossed a card over at Nana, the woman fumbling with it before peering at it closely. Really it was just a note from Iemitsu telling her to trust him but hey, having it look like a business card to Tsuna would keep an element of surprise in this all.

Not that no surprise was there already.

Nana looked up at Reborn with slight confusion before glancing at the card again and sighing. Then she straightened her back and smiled. "Well then! I'm sorry for my rudeness earlier so let me start over: I am Sawada Nana and welcome to our home, Reborn-kun!"

She's so trusting of Iemitsu. If she had any sense she would abandon that idiot already. Bowing his head in slight respect of her loyalty to her husband, Reborn then turned to Tsuna who looked incredibly confused. "I would like to have a one on one conversation with him first, Nana."

"Oh, call me mama! Now Tsu, why don't you show Reborn-kun to your room?"

Tsuna's thoughts were easy to read. Mum, he's a fucking baby. Why the hell are you accepting this situation so easily?! Taking a deep breath, he then stood up and flicked out his phone. "Sayaka just texted, she wants to see me right now."

"Tsu…"

"Hopefully dad will figure out that this prank isn't funny." Walking into the corridor, Tsuna shrugged on a hoodie before turning to face his mother. "Anyway, Sayaka really doesn't like being stood up. So please?" He pressed his hands together in a pleading pose, Nana giving in almost instantly.

"Okay but afterwards Tsu you need to talk to Reborn-kun-"

"Mum, its just a prank."

"But Tsu-"

"I'll see you later." A slam of a door followed almost a second later, Nana collapsing in a chair.

"Honestly, you'd think he'd listen to his own mother…"

"I'll follow after him mama," Reborn told her, the woman smiling gratefully at him.

"Thank you Reborn-kun. That boy does make me worry sometimes when he gets into these moods…"

Reborn nodded before walking out, easily catching up to the boy. "So, you've actually got a date with this Sayaka?"

Tsuna looked down at him and rolled his eyes, Reborn noting he could restrain his anger quite well. "You don't have to go this far with this you know. And yes, I've got a date with her."

"Really?"

He snorted. "Of course I do. Believe it or not, kid, I'm quite popular." Showing Reborn his phone, the arcobaleno expression didn't change.

Tsuna: Date? Now?

Sayaka: Sure! Can't wait to see you Tsu~

"So you just asked her."

"Yep."

"Then you lied to your mother," Reborn stated, the boy pretending to wince.

"Hey, that's a little harsh don't you think? I just...twisted the truth. Anyway, I didn't lie about Sayaka wanting to see me." Tsuna played with his phone, twirling it in his fingers. "You speak well for a baby."

"Like I told you, I'm an arcobaleno."

"Oh yes, silly me, how could I forget."

"I'm an assassin too, sent here to train you into becoming a mafia boss." Reborn watching as Tsuna burst out laughing, clutching his stomach as he chuckled.

"Oh sure you are! I should have realized! The mafia employs babies like you to do things all of the time!" Tsuna's laughter then abruptly stopped as his eyes suddenly focused on something and his whole body tensed. Before Rebon could see what he was looking at though, Tsuna burst into action, leaning onto a nearby wall with his elbow and flashing a grin.

Reborn was so busy staring at him, thinking about how wrong this all was and how Tsuna shouldn't be like this at all, he only saw what the teenager was looking at after he had spoken. "Hiya, Kyoko-chan~"

He looked up.

I was pissed.

Mochida had for that whole stupid sports meeting flirted like a god damn idiot, which had resulted me in punching him a hell of a lot of times and then the meeting had gone over because everyone was too busy worrying over Mochida's safety to conduct the meeting properly then Ryohei had burst in, shrieking about how it was so not extreme that he had been left out, then Hibari decided that he wanted in too and I was so angry at this point I flipped him off before running for my life.

This is why I have never been in any clubs until this point. It is way too much effort.

Storming down the streets towards my house, I suddenly heard a familiar voice and groaned.

"Hiya Kyoko-chan~"

Closing my eyes, I breathed deeply before making my way towards him, so pissed off I could only think about smashing my fist into his face. "Tsuna, what the hell do you want?"

"We've had this conversation so many times before I think you should know the answer to that by now." He winked making me roll my eyes.

"Fuck off already, I'm already angry."

"Aw, but you are hot when you are pissed~"

Cue intense glaring. "Keep on being like this and I'll break your neck."

"With neck kisses?"

"You fucking wish."

And then the dreaded greeting came. Really, I should have been more prepared. I had known he would come around now after all. But somehow I hadn't seen the signs that this was the day everything would go to hell. In the canon Kyoko was on the same committee as Mochida and had had a meeting with him in that first chapter.

I had just had that meeting today. And even Itsuki had given me a hint about it all. Was I an actual idiot?

"Ciaossu."

To be honest, I think I reacted fairly well. That meaning I didn't fall to my knees and beg for mercy, sobbing my eyes out. Instead I think my eyes widened slightly and I backed away a little but otherwise I remained in control.

That is an achievement. Most people wouldn't be able to retain their composure after seeing the devil himself.

I need to tell Hana. I need to get out of this situation and find Hana. Holy shit, we are dead. We are so dead.

"...Tsuna, who the hell is this?" My voice miraculously didn't wobble as I refused to meet Tsuna's eyes, the boy leaning forwards in order to try and make eye contact anyway.

"Oh, his name's Reborn. Apparently he's an assassin meant to train me into becoming a mafia boss~"

...Stay calm Kyoko. Don't react. For gods sake, do not fucking react or you are dead! "Sure he is. Now get the fuck out of my face Tsuna."

I expected Reborn to say something. I expected him to call me out and explain to Tsuna how I was in the mafia and for me to then be unable to get away from the Vongola. But no.

Reborn didn't say anything. And you do not know how much more terrifying that is than him saying something.

I did not know what he was thinking. He could just be taunting me and actually know who I am. Oh god, please have fucking mercy on me. I would prefer Itsuki glaring at me any day instead of this.

Someone get me out of here!

When my phone beeped I almost burst out into tears of thanks. Trying not to look too desperate with those black holes for eyes staring me down, I fished my phone out of my pocket and read the message.

Hana: Where the hell are you? Lulu and Ryuga are already eating all of my food!

Hana, I could kiss you right now.

"As much as I love speaking to you Tsuna," I drawled sarcastically, glaring when he nodded in agreement to my words. "Lulu and Ryuga are greedy shits that I need to deal with. So fucking bye, asshole."

"Love you too Kyoko-chan~"

Flipping him off as I walked away, I began to type into my phone.

Kyoko: Reborn is here.

I felt his eyes on me as I got my reply, clenching my fists in slight anxiety.

Hana: Oh shit.

She had been pretty, this Kyoko. The kind of girl people would admire for their looks and then back away for their personality.

The Tsuna that Iemitsu described would have definitely be one of the people to back away from her but this Tsuna had stayed.

Reborn had for a moment desperately hoped it was just because he hadn't seen past her pretty looks yet, probably because he had known it wasn't that already.

Kyoko had something wrong with her. Reborn didn't know what and it unnerved him. She had tried to cover up this look of utter dread when she had first seen his face but he couldn't quite get why. It couldn't be that she was mafioso, could it? Itsuki would have kicked her out if she was.

So why was it unnerving him?

He didn't know who she was at all. If she was somebody to look out for he'd know her face but he didn't.

He would have to look her up later. But back to the situation at hand.

Reborn had seen the way Tsuna had looked at her when she wasn't making eye contact. This strange, bewildered and aching look. These small little things. The way he paid complete attention to her. The way his thoughts were clearly directed only at her. The way that now she was gone Tsuna was still clearly thinking of her.

The words flowed out of his mouth not so much as a question but as a statement instead. "You like her don't you?"

Tsuna's reaction would have been amusing if the girl in question hadn't rubbed Reborn the wrong way so much. His eyes had widened slightly, his body had tensed and he had immediately pretended to smile cheekily when he obviously didn't want to smile about it. "Well, she is probably one of the prettiest girls I've ever seen so getting a date from her would be pretty awesome~"

"You don't like her for her looks though."

The teenager huffed irritably. "Did you hear what I just said?"

"I heard what your mind was saying."

"There is no such thing as mind reading," Tsuna scoffed. "Kyoko is just like all of the other girls. I don't feel anything towards her particularly like I don't feel anything towards the rest of them."

Reborn studied him for a few moments. "Does it amuse you to lie like this? Or is it a defense mechanism."

"I'm not lying-"

"Its obvious you are. I can tell when you are lying like you can tell when other people are lying."

This made Tsuna start in surprise. "How do you kno-"

He cut the boy off again. "Why not confess to her?"

"I've asked her out on dates every time I see her."

"Properly confess to her?"

A restrained glare. "Because I don't properly feel anything towards her."

Reborn clicked his tongue. "Stop lying or I'll make you tell the truth through force." He flicked out a gun with expert ease, raising an eyebrow of approval when Tsuna did not react so much other than to narrow his eyes. "You don't seem too scared by this."

"You won't kill me."

"How do you know?"

"I don't know, maybe its mind reading."

"You said it doesn't exist."

"Maybe I lied."

Reborn eventually sighed and put the gun back in its holster. "Stop playing games, Tsuna. You like her so tell me, why haven't you confessed?"

Tsuna leant against a wall and closed his burning orange eyes. "Why do loads of people not confess their feelings? Because they'll get rejected."

Finally we are getting somewhere. "You've got enough confidence to get past that fear with how you are asking so many girls out all the time though."

"Confidence?" Tsuna burst out laughing, opening his eyes again. "If you honestly think I've got confidence then you really can't mind read at all! Honestly Reborn…" his eyes dimmed slightly as he looked down at his phone and began to type.

Tsuna: I'm dumping you.

Sayaka: What?!

"This isn't confidence," he put his phone away and looked down at the arcobaleno again. "This is first class lying."

The realization hit Reborn of how truly twisted the image of Tsuna had become from what Iemitsu had painted for him. Iemitsu's Tsuna was a useless boy who really had a heart of gold but couldn't portray his feelings properly and was too shy to interact well with many people. Giving him confidence would have been easy. All Reborn would have to do was build up his skills so that he wasn't so rubbish at everything and then his confidence would follow. That would be beyond easy with that dying will bullet that was loaded into his gun. In a few years Reborn could make Tsuna a fine, confident mafia boss.

But this Tsuna was actually good at things. He seemed fit enough, quite intelligent for his age group and had managed to twist everyone to work around him through setting up layers and layers of lies. Already he had the makings of a mafia boss with his hyper intuition but...the confidence wasn't there. The confidence he should have naturally acquired from being so good at what he did hadn't appeared. He had just lied instead. Set up so many lies that he had lost himself in them all.

It was easy to convince someone useless that they were actually someone good by just making them great. It was harder to convince somebody good who thought themselves to be useless when they already knew they were great at things.

His hand that had begun to reach for the gun again fell back to his side. He couldn't use the bullet. It wouldn't convince Tsuna of anything if Tsuna already was blind to his achievements.

This situation is far more messed up than I thought it was.

I kept looking behind me, waiting for Tsuna to show up in his underwear and yell at me to go out with him. When I saw Mochida near my house on my way to Hana's, the boy claiming it was a completely coincidental meeting (like my fist coincidentally meeting with his face after he said that), my nerves got even worse.

But Tsuna never showed up.
