Chapter 51
The silent looks of horror that adorned the faces of the Zeros and Stork was enough for Digger to punch his vehicle in reverse at top speed. He spun his ride around when he got the chance, focusing solely on the task ahead; which was escape.
"Hold tight. Don't let go for anything and don't look back" he yelled over the engine.
It was only because she was so close that she could hear him, she couldn't hear anything over the echoing sound of the engine in the tunnel. She couldn't even hear the others as they pursued them. She buried her face in his back and took a secure grip around his torso.
All the sounds were causing the ringing in her head to grow worse than before. She wanted something else, something more pleasant, to block out the sounds around her.
strangely enough, her prayers were answered, in the form of music. Pumping futuristic sounds began to echo through the small space…finally something she could deal with.
It definitely made the chase interesting. The only problem was the pounding in her head didn't fade.
Digger made sure to follow the path they had all been traversing, never once second guessing himself, the music fading into nothing as they emerged into daylight, only to skid to a stop when he saw that the rest of the Storm Hawks were waiting for them. Radarr not included.
"You have nowhere to go" Aerrow spoke, brandishing his weapons "Surrender now and maybe we'll talk"
"You don't understand Aerrow, she was as much of a prisoner as I was and she's not like her sister" Digger tried to explain.
The revving of Engines behind them told them that the others they'd left inside had made an appearance.
"How do you know she's not exactly like her sister?" Piper suggested in question.
"Because I trust her" Digger answered immediately, causing the red head to falter only slightly.
"You can't trust a Cyclonian!" Suzy Lu yelled at her team member…or, almost, ex-team member.
"But she's not Cyclonian! She doesn't know what it is to be one!" Digger insisted
"That makes no sense!" Finn yelled
"It does!"
Blinx gently placed her hand on Diggers back, signalling for quiet "It's alright Digger" she told him softly as she slipped off the back of his ride and made her way over to Aerrow.
"What are you gonna do?" she asked him
"Surprisingly, something Finn suggested"
Her eyes snapped open, letting her see that she was in Stork's room. She sat up, letting the blanket fall down her back and gather in the chair. In his bed, Stork breathed softly. She sighed in relief. 'It was all just a dream'
She lay her head on her arms again, only to sit up once more when she saw the Oracle quietly floating beside her. "We have much to discuss, Angel" it told her quietly.
