Chapter 51: No Path in Sight

The next day, Elena simply stayed in her bed, still in the clothes she had on yesterday. It was almost noon and she had no intention of getting out of bed. Dave's reaction to her yesterday hurt her more than he could ever realize. "I haven't even made a decision yet," she whispered to herself, as if Dave would hear it too.

Her phone started ringing, but she wanted so desperately to ignore it. Though curiosity got the best of her and she looked at the caller ID. When she saw it was Stacy, she knew that it'd be about her date with Triple H. Elena sat up and cleared her throat before answering.

"Elena? Oh my god I have so much to tell you! You free for lunch?" Stacy asked excitedly.

"Uh...yeah. I just need a few minutes to get ready. Should I meet you downstairs?" Elena asked her.

"Sounds good. How about thirty minutes?" Elena agreed and hung up, reluctantly getting up and out of bed. She jumped into the shower for a few minutes before getting out and putting on a plain t-shirt and jeans with chucks. She blew dry her hair and grabbed her purse to head downstairs.

Stacy was already there waiting for her, "Hey there! I just saw Dave walk into the café with Rey, should we go eat with them?" she asked.

Elena looked in the direction of the café, seeing the two superstars she was talking about. Rey was the one looking at her, and she could tell he was telling Dave she was there. Dave slowly turned around and briefly met Elena's gaze. Everyone was surprised to see him simply turn around away from her, and continue eating.

"Um," Stacy started, "are you guys fighting again?"

"Not at all." Elena replied, but not in a very convincing way. She walked into the café and up to Dave and Rey's table. Dave didn't look up at her, but she knew that he was aware of her presence. "Do you have something to say to me?" she asked him.

"No." Dave replied, taking another bite of his food.

"What's going on?" Rey asked worriedly, looking at both his friends.

"Nothing at all, Rey. I'm just wondering if Dave here has grown any balls since last night," Elena said, not taking her eyes off him.

"I'm trying to eat Elena," Dave said, slowly looking up at her, seemingly annoyed.

"Don't worry I'm leaving. Just thought I'd give you something to help you cool off," she said before grabbing his glass of ice water and dumped it on him. Dave jumped out of his seat in surprise, looking at her as if she were crazy. "See you Friday." was all she said before walking back over to Stacy and suggested a different place to eat.

"Okay, now you definitely have to explain this one to me," Stacy told her as she walked with her out the doors.

"Maybe later. Right now I wanna hear about your date with Triple H," Elena said smiling back at her. Stacy knew something else was going on, but she was far too excited about her date last night that she left it alone for the moment.

Meanwhile Dave was still using a bunch of napkins to help dry himself off. "Now what in the hell was all that about Holmes?" Rey asked him.

"Don't worry about it Rey," Dave growled in response, pulling an ice cube out of his pocket.

"Now don't give me that. You guys seriously can't go two days without fighting? You act like you're married or something," Rey replied.

"Shutup Rey, I don't want to hear about it." Dave told him angrily, trying to eat his food. Rey wanted to tell him he was being an idiot, but he decided against it and continued eating as well. "She could be going to RAW," Dave added out of the blue. Rey asked him what he meant as Dave explained what Elena had told him.

"Wow, that's pretty intense. Well I think it'd be a good thing for her, she's worked hard to get where she is. Plus, if McMahon himself told her this, you know she's going to become even bigger in this business," Rey said, proud of his friend.

"Oh yeah, because that's what it's all about isn't it? Just making a big name for yourself? Who cares about the friends you'd be leaving behind? Who cares about who you're abandoning on the other show? Thanks for letting me know Rey, I really appreciate it," Dave told him quite aggravated. He was so mad that he just stood up, tossed a few bills on the table and left.

Rey simply watched him, shocked at his reaction, "Dang, he really does love her."

Meanwhile, after her lunch with Stacy, Elena returned to her room. When her phone started ringing she started rolling her eyes, thinking it was Dave. When she saw it was Mr. McMahon again, she prayed he didn't realize she had rolled her eyes. Apparently Mr. McMahon had a great idea for her; to go to tomorrow night's showing of RAW. He said it would be best for her to get the feel for it before she made any decisions. They made a plan that McMahon would introduce her, say she was deciding between RAW and Smackdown and would be put in a match against Mickie James. Elena loved the idea and agreed to be there tomorrow night.

Once they both hung up, Elena was actually pretty excited about the idea of possibly being on RAW. Although it did hurt her that Dave couldn't even be the least bit happy for her, even though she wasn't certain of anything yet. "Oh well, that's his problem." she decided and tried picking out her outfit for RAW. She called Stacy to help her out, since she owed her one from the day before.

"So he wants you to go on RAW tomorrow night? That's pretty exciting," Stacy stated looking through Elena's different shirts.

"I know, I wonder if I'll be able to handle it," Elena replied.

"Oh I'm sure you'll be fine. You know if you want, I could come with you," her friend offered.

Elena squealed in delight and hugged her friend, "Thank God!"

"Besides I'd get to see a few friends I haven't seen in a while. So it's a win-win situation," Stacy laughed.

"Yeah, and you get to watch me kick ass up close." Elena said proudly.

"Oh I didn't know you had a match! Who is it against?" Stacy asked.

"Mickie James, which is actually pretty cool since she's beaten a Women's Champion. Now I really get to see my own potential, and what a better stage than RAW?" Elena stated, getting more excited by the minute. "Honestly I don't even think I'll be able to sleep tonight."

"I know the feeling. Well I think I have a good idea for your outfit," Stacy started, going through the different articles of clothing until they both came to an agreement.

"Sounds good to me," Elena told her. "Now what do I do about this whole Dave business?" she asked.

Stacy just scoffed, "Don't even worry about him. If he wants to act like that, let him. Though honestly I don't know why he would...wait a minute...oh my god! Now I get it! Aw, it's so cute," Stacy giggled, after coming to her realization. Elena just raised a brow at her friend, not sure if she wanted to ask what she was thinking. "Well isn't it obvious? He's mad because...nah, I'm not gonna tell you. You have to figure it out on your own."

"You're a jerk," Elena grumbled and started packing her bag for the next day. "As far as I'm concerned, he's being a big baby and I don't have time for that. When he wants to apologize to me, he can get down on his knees and beg."

"Dave Batista is gonna beg on his knees for you?" Stacy asked quizzically.

"Why not? He's come close before," Elena told her with a smirk. Stacy simply laughed and told her she'd probably have to keep dreaming if that's what she's waiting for.

"Well as much as I love this, I have to get out of here." Stacy announced and stood up.

"Where are you running off to?" Elena asked her.

"I have another date with Triple H later," Stacy replied, blushing like a little school girl. "Since we had such a good night last night he asked me out again. I should probably go down and get ready. I'll call you later and let you know how it goes."

"Sounds good to me. Have fun girl!" Elena called out as Stacy left her room. Once she was gone and everything she needed was packed, Elena just plopped onto her bed and let her mind wander for a minute. Of course as soon as she was comfortable, her phone started ringing, yet again. She didn't bother to look at the caller ID and answered it, "Hello?"

"Hey chica," Rey answered.

"Hey Rey, what's up?" Elena smiled, sitting up on her bed.

"Nothing much, just wanted to know what you were up to tonight," he replied.

"Um, nothing that I know of. You have something in mind?" she asked him.

"Well I realized that when Dave and I celebrated our victory last Friday you weren't there. Now I don't know about you, but it doesn't seem right when our manager isn't with us to celebrate. So what do you say?" Rey suggested.

Elena laughed, "I would love to Rey. So what are we talking here, bar? Club? Dinner?"

"How about we hit a club?" Rey asked.

"Sounds perfect, shall we say, 8?" she said, as Rey agreed to meet her in the lobby. "All right, see you then." The two superstars hung up their phones as Elena laid back down. "Oh shit," she cursed, "Dave will probably be there. Oh well, Rey invited me and I'm going to party like there's no tomorrow." Elena then rolled onto her side and closed her eyes for a little nap before her big night.

Rey on the other hand was walking up to Dave's room to invite him to the little get together. He knocked on the door calling his name before he heard Dave answer from inside. Rey walked in to see Dave toweling his wet hair, apparently just finished taking a shower. "What's up Rey?" Dave asked.

"Nothing much, I just wanted to see what you were doing tonight." Rey replied, shifting back and forth on his toes.

"Nothing, why?" Dave answered.

"Well I think that we should go out again tonight, you know get loose from all the tension from today. We'll hit a club, how about that?" Rey offered.

"Sure why not, I guess I could use it. What time?" Rey told him 8 o'clock and to meet him down in the lobby. "All right, I'll see you then."

Rey took his leave, a smirk forming on his face as he left the room to go back to his own. Man I love doing this stuff, he chuckled to himself.
