-Chapter Forty-Eight-

"However, don't make the mistake of thinking you're alone anymore" the cook added.

"Yeah, that's right, don't worry because…because Captain Usopp is going to protect you!" Usopp cried out, obviously scared of his mind.

"Obviously, the best choice of protection you could ever hope for" I nodded, lips twitching upwards as the long-nosed pirate gave a quiet, low pitched whine.

"Luffy!" Vivi called back to the rubbery man that we were getting farther and farther away from. "Listen, we'll be waiting for you! We'll be in Alubarna!"

"Yeah!" was the response we received, which brought smiles to everyone's faces. It didn't even feel like a few minutes had passed before the princess gave a small noise of distress.

"Vivi, what's wrong?" Usopp asked.

"There's a giant sandstorm moving towards Rainbase, it's Crocodile" the princess muttered.

"Luffy, no" Nami worriedly mumbled as she stared off towards Rainbase that was slowly getting smaller by the minute as we got farther away from it.

-A Few Minutes Later-

As time passed by, we all sat in silence, no one really in the mood to talk at the current moment. Well, it was almost silent, saved for the small murmuring of Usopp telling Chopper one of his tales. "And that's when it happened, I looked him straight in the eye and yelled, 'you bone legged bastard!'" he suddenly shouted, standing tall and proud. "And ever since that day, crabs throughout the world are self-conscious about being bone legged" he finished as Chopper stared up at him in awe.

"That's the reason they walk sideways?" Chopper questioned.

"Yep and at that moment, a lobster happened to be in earshot and heard the whole thing" Usopp nodded.

"Oh, so lobsters are crabs too?" Chopper asked.

"Better believe it!" Usopp laughed, as a sweat drop appeared on Vivi's head.

"Zoro, why don't you relax? You're just wasting energy doing that" Nami pointed out as I looked towards the swordsman beside me.

"That's a unique way to create a makeshift dumbbell" I muttered as I saw he had Eyelash resting on top of one of his swords, lowering and lifting it up as if it was a normal dumbbell.

"Who asked you?" the swordsman bit back at the navigator who only huffed as his harsh response.

"Excuse him, Nami, he's hopeless. Guys like Zoro, they got to keep moving or they won't stay focus, they have one tracked minds. Especially our own resident muscle freak here, now that he's tasted the Seven Warlords" Sanji said as he blew out a puff of smoke.

"That was quite harsh, don't you think?" I asked, scratching the back of my head.

"Don't think too much on it, those two are always insulting one another" Usopp whispered to me.

"Stop whining, just say what's on your mind or shut up!" Zoro grounded out.

"Ah, you need me to spell it out? All this tough guy bluster is just a sad attempt to mask your fear that Luffy might lose this one" Sanji stated, causing Vivi to gasp.

"Who me? You're saying I'm scared, huh?" Zoro asked, standing up to face the blond. "Is that what you're saying, look at me! Fancy eyebrows!" he insulted as the blond stood up as well.

"That's it! I've had enough of you, you damn moss head!" Sanji growled as the two got up in each other's faces.

"What did you call me?" Zoro growled.

"You want to go?!" they both snapped before clutching their heads in pain as Nami and I struck them out of irritation.

"Cut it out!" the orange haired woman snapped.

"This is pointless, there's no point in fighting each other right now! Can't you two act mature and try to get along?" I asked.

"Calm down, all of you" Vivi ordered, catching everyone's attention. "Everyone's frightened, yes, but we mustn't turn on each other. Luffy's counting on us to meet him in Alubarna."

"Yeah, well you seem more on edge than any of us!" Usopp suddenly exclaimed.

"Keep your mind on the rebellion and leave the rest to us" Nami huffed as she lightly hit the princess on top of the head.

"Yeah" I agreed.

"Sorry about that, Vivi" Sanji sighed.

"If we tear each other apart, we've already lost" Zoro said as he rubbed the back of his head while sitting up. "Damn, you can hit hard when you want to" he muttered as I snickered.

"Alright, that's settled, now let's devote our attention to Alubarna. Full speed ahead, Scissors" Nami ordered.

"Huh? Scissors?" Usopp questioned.

"Name for the crab" Nami explained.

"Oh" Chopper said.

"You just made that up!" the long-nosed pirate pointed out.

"Got something better?" Nami defensively asked.

"No, not really" Usopp admitted as Chopper giggled.

"I will say, Nami, you can be quite creative with your names" I laughed.

"What's that mean?" she asked, tilting her head.

"Nothing really, just means you seem to have a thing for simple yet strange names. I never would of thought eyelash and scissors could be used as a name" I smiled, giggling as she blushed.

"Well, do you have something better?" Nami asked, furrowing her brows.

"Crabby?" I suggested, shrugging my shoulders.

"That's even worse the then the name I chose!"

"I know."

-Later-

"What? What do you mean we can't cross this river?" Usopp asked.

"Think about it, Moving Crabs our creatures of the desert, they don't take to water" Vivi pointed out.

"Has everyone gone nuts? It's a crab, they can exist on both land and water, guys this is not good. This is a serious problem, look" Usopp said as he showed us the map. "If we just carelessly spend our energy swimming across the river, we're not going to make it in time. See here, after the river there's tons of desert to deal with, so if this crab can't make it to the other shore. How are we supposed to run the rest of the way on foot?" he asked.

"We don't have a choice" Nami argued.

"I have to agree with Usopp though, it's getting really late and running through the desert in wet clothing doesn't sound like the best thing to do" I said. "And of course, we also run the risk of not making it on time."

"Right, we won't make it in time, it's absolutely impossible" Usopp nodded.

"Uh-oh, I can see it, Sandora River straight ahead" Sanji pointed out.

"Oh great" Usopp muttered.

"Help us, Scissors, pretty please" Nami begged.

"It's a crab, I don't think it fully understands you" I sweat dropped.

"I know, Scissors loves dancer girls!" Chopper suddenly pointed out.

"Will this do?" Nami asked, smiling as she stripped herself of her robe and revealed the dancer girl outfit underneath.

"Oh, you're still wearing that as well?" I asked, as she nodded her head. "Glad to know I wasn't the only lazy one that didn't want to switch clothes before we left the ship."

"That'll probably work" Chopper nodded his head.

"Oh, I can't take it!" Sanji exclaimed as he and Eyelash fawned over the navigator. Scissors also started to fawn over her the minute he caught sight of her in her dancer outfit.

"He's looking this way, we're accelerating!" Chopper pointed out.

"Nami-swan!" Sanji cooed.

"Great, now we got two animals in heat" Zoro grumbled.

"I do believe you mean three animals, good sir" I laughed. "Though, it is uncomfortable knowing that animals can be just as perverted as humans" I frowned.

"I find it uncomfortable just how perverted that cook can be" Zoro responded.

"Well, I mean, you aren't any better either" I commented.

"Oi!" he snapped.

"Alright, we're moving!" Chopper cheered at how fast the crab was going.

"And what exactly has this solved, Chopper? Nothing!" Usopp exclaimed.

"Go faster!" Chopper ordered. "He did it!" he cheered the minute the crab started running across the surface of the water due to how fast it was running.

"I'm seeing it, but I don't believe it, this crab is amazing" Sanji complimented.

"Way to go, now don't stop, just keep going! Hurry, run! Run! Run all the way, go, keep moving! Nothing can stop us now, oh, I love this crab!" Usopp cheered. "Hey, wait a minute, what's going on? If I didn't know any better, I'd say we were sinking" he whined as the crab started sinking downwards into the water before finally we were completely submerged under the water. "You stupid crab!" he insulted the minute we all emerged out from under the water.

"Yeah, I kind of figured that wasn't going to last too long" I said, hitting the side of my head to knock any water that was currently in my ear out.

"It's over" Zoro grumbled, grabbing Chopper and flinging him over his shoulder before he started walking. "No use whining about it, just keep moving."
