The prison going up in smoke and the bloodshed had gotten to everyone, except Michonne. She just saw this as a way to move on. She had killed the Governor, gotten Rick back to Carl, and walked away with only a small bullet hole in her arm. She walked away alone.
She meant to get on that bus, find Maggie and Ty, or even stay with Rick but once she saw the damage and everyone running she didn't know what else to do but run. She took a deep breath and took off toward the trees. Killing a few walkers got all her rage out but it was the hurt she didn't know how to deal with. Michonne may not have been the one for all the touchy feely love but everyone back at the prison, were her friends. She had gotten very close to a few who she considered family. Rick, Carl, little baby Judith, Daryl, Sasha, and Juliet. Which now she had to assume were all dead.
Michonne had to stop once she ran out of breath. She was far enough from the prison to escape the walkers for a minute. She leaned against a tree and sighed deeply. She closed her eyes and just tried to gather her thoughts and feelings.
"Mama!" A cry broke through the three-minute silence. "Daddy!" The cry broke again. It sounded like a girl and she was close but the more Michonne listened the further she got. She looked around quickly and pulled her sword just in case. "Please! Mama! Daddy!" She cried again. With every cry it broke Michonne's heart.
Michonne ran quickly through the trees and tried to follow the cries but soon they stopped. "Hello?" She called out. It was quiet and Michonne looked around and could hear light footsteps behind her. She slowly took her sword in both her hands and held tight as she slowly turns. She feared it was a walker but she knew how to deal with them.
Then the quiet sobs made Michonne drop to her knees quickly. "Michonne?" The little voice said from the ground.
"Hannah!" Michonne yelled with a smile. The little girl was laying in the grass with her eyes just staring up at her. Michonne dropped and scooped Hannah up in her arms. "Are you okay?" She asked the girl quickly who held on to her for dear life. She was sobbing into Michonne's shoulder and was breathing heavily. "Come on, look at me." Michonne said tilting Hannah's head back. "Are you alright?" She asked. "Anything bite, or scratch you?" She asked and Hannah rubbed her eyes as she shook her head.
"Where is every one?" She asked between breaths.
"I don't know but we will find them okay?" Michonne said sweetly as she held Hannah close and started to walk. Walkers had started to form around the screaming.
"Where are we gonna go?" Hannah asked after a few hours of silence.
"I saw some tracks earlier... We are gonna follow them." Michonne said holding Hannah's hand tightly as the girl walked slowly behind her. "I'm sure we will find someone." She smiled a Hannah who looked so tired and sad. Michonne had no idea what to do so she kept moving.
