Nothing special today, lovelies, just that it's raining and I'm in a bit of an updating mood. So, I thought I'd treat you to a random AU, sort of a follow up to a previous Klaroline role reversal one shot (Chapter 34, "Snow White Queen"). Thank you for the reviews! You're amazing!
But I don't care what they say Keep bleeding
I'm in love with you
They try to pull me away
But they don't know the truth
My heart's crippled by the vein
That I keep on closing
You cut me open and I
Keep, keep bleeding love
I keep bleeding
I keep, keep bleeding love
Keep bleeding
Keep, keep bleeding love
You cut me open
Caroline took a sip of the wine in her glass as she sat at the bar in the Mystic Grill. She wasn't really here for anything in particular, just a drink at the bar. Of course, she couldn't help but think about the night Klaus had helped her when she turned into her wolf form, not wanting to leave her side, even when she had told him that it was dangerous for him to be there because he was a baby vampire and if bitten, he would've been in serious trouble. Of course, she would've cured him with her blood, being an Original hybrid and everything, but she still didn't want him to get hurt.
Speaking of which, her senses alerted her to another presence and, looking over her shoulder, she saw Klaus walking in. He looked exceptionally handsome this evening, wearing a white shirt, black jacket, and jeans, complete with a new pair of boots. Then again, he could've been wearing a burlap sack and he'd still look fantastic.
"How did I know you'd be here tonight?" She eyed him up and down and smiled. "And dressed so nice as well? Expecting someone?"
Klaus raised an eyebrow at her observation. "No, I just wanted to look nice for going out." Curiously, he added, "I don't suppose you came here with the expectation of running into me? You seem to have a rather nasty habit of turning up wherever I go. Don't you have anywhere else you'd rather be?"
"Oh, come on, Klaus, you always make things sound worse than they are," said Caroline. "I'm here because I had a bit of a 'hankering' for some good quality wine, so I came down to this lovely establishment and asked the barkeep to fetch me a glass. Though, I should've asked for the whole bottle while he was at it."
"Caroline, you know that we don't say 'barkeep' anymore," said Klaus. "They prefer being called either bartenders or servers now."
"I know, but I sometimes forget which century I'm in." She smiled again. "I have been thinking about the night I turned into my wolf, and the way you helped me through it. You were very brave that night, Klaus, I wanted you to know that."
"It was...nothing."
"Oh, don't be so modest, it wasn't nothing," said Caroline. "You did a very good thing for me that night."
"Still, I wasn't looking for anything in return for what I had done," said Klaus. "I saw that you were in pain and I didn't want you to go through that alone, despite the fact that you've been around for over a thousand years and you had enough strength for the both of us."
Clearing his throat, he added, "Listen, what I said that night, I..."
Caroline placed her finger on his lips to shush him. "Shhh. You don't have to explain, Klaus, I already know about it. You spoke from your heart and I appreciated it."
Klaus nodded and softly kissed her finger. Then, he pulled her closer to him, kissing her lips, tasting the sweetness of the wine that she had been drinking before he came in. Caroline moaned against his lips as she returned his kiss, wrapping her arms around his neck as the kiss deepened. After a few minutes, they pulled back, breaking the kiss and said nothing as they looked at each other, blue eyes meeting greenish blue.
"Care to join me in a drink?"
Caroline's words brought him back to reality and Klaus nodded. "That sounds good to me."
Caroline smiled and signaled for the bartender, asking for another glass of wine. "So, I suppose that this is going to become our 'thing' from now on?"
"Caroline, please, I hardly would call it our 'thing.' We're just having a drink together." He sighed. "But, if you want to call it that, by all means, be my guest. You seem to have more of a way with words than I do, even though I've been living in this century since my human days." Even though I despise it now, having been a vampire for the past two years.
When the bartender brought them the wine, Caroline lifted her glass and clanked it against Klaus' in a silent toast.
Note: Enjoy the update, lovelies, and keep the faith!
