Here we go! Owen's mother debuted last chapter, and he found out Ariel is his twin sister! Now, Owen and Ariel will have a double battle with their mother (for reasons that will be explained in the chapter), and that's about it. Before this chapter starts, I'm really disappointed (but proud of readers :P) that you all figured Ariel was his sister even though I said she wasn't. I guess I'm not as clever as I thought :/ Whatever, let's get going!

Guest: Thanks, I'm hoping I can post another (including this chapter) 2-3 more today, because exams are over tomorrow. And I guess your prediction is right, because they are related :)

MCMXCV: Slurpuff is definitely a klutz, and that'll play into her battle style, so I think she might be one of, if not the most interesting battler on Owen's team

Defender31415: Lol, I just realized that I copied the same message between the two chapters (because I copy the theme song and team listing in one swoop), but I fixed it. And the last name was kind of spontaneous, so I didn't really put too much thought into that :P

FlameStriker123: Thanks! I'm really in a zone right now, so I'm trying to do as much writing as possible before I lose this laser-focus I've had for the past week. If I can keep the pace, I'll probably end up finishing this arc by the weekend

SinnohBlaze: TYPOS! Sorry about that, I'm just really pissed, because I could've sworn I had made him say her name was Catherine, but I looked back and saw it was Christine, so I changed that. Damn, I really hate typos

"We're... twins?" Owen asked in shock as he looked over at Ariel, who was sitting on a couch in front of a TV. After their encounter at the Pokemon Center, Owen, Ariel, their mother, and the others went back to Catherine's house.

"That's right," Catherine replied with a smile, though it was met by Owen's shock and Ariel's disgust.

"And you're our... mom?"

"She's not my mom," Ariel spat as she crossed her arms over her chest. Blaziken and Charizard were sitting next to their trainers while Brooklyn, Cindy, Eddy, and Daniel were waiting in another room, talking about the events that had just unfolded. "No mother would get rid of their kids," Ariel proclaimed while shooting a look of disgust at Catherine, who leaned back in her chair and sighed.

"Ariel, if you'd just listen to what I have to say, you'd understand why I did what I did," the brunette replied maturely, not taking any of Ariel's comments to heart.

"If it's that simple, go ahead and explain, I've got all the time in the world." Ariel glared at the older woman who looked at her children before standing up and grabbing a picture frame. She then handed it to Owen, who looked at the picture and stared. There was a young girl, Catherine, cradling to children in her arms with an exhausted look on her face. Owen handed the picture to Ariel and remained silent while his sister inspected the picture.

"What's missing from the picture?" Catherine asked her daughter, who handed the picture back angrily.

"A real mom," the fifteen year old muttered, making Catherine bite her bottom lip as she placed the picture back on the wall. "Admit it, you didn't want us!" Ariel shouted while rising from the couch. Blaziken glanced at his trainer and her mother before locking eyes with Charizard, who shook his head at the hard words.

"That's not true," the woman whispered as she wiped tears from her eyes. She looked over at Owen, who was still quiet and staring at the wall in shock. "I wanted to keep both of you, but I couldn't."

"I'm done with this," Ariel announced as she began to walk out of the room by herself. Blaziken didn't follow the teen, and he looked at Catherine, who walked over to the fire type and hugged him. After a few seconds, Ariel walked back into the room after realizing Blaziken hadn't followed, and she glared at her mother. "Blaziken, let's go!"

"Ariel, you have to listen to your mother."

"Come on, Ariel," Owen said to his twin, who looked down at the taller teen. "Just give her a chance." Ariel looked back at her mother and saw Blaziken nodding next to the woman, and she rolled her eyes.

"Fine, but I'm only staying if you beat me in a battle." A small smile grew across Catherine's face as Blaziken walked to his trainer's side while emitting flames from his wrists, and she nodded at the offer. "A double battle," Ariel announced, revising her originally proposition.

"That sounds good to me. I have a battlefield in the backyard, we can go there."

After everyone walked out to the battlefield, Owen sat down next to his friends and stared at his sister and mother, still trying to come to grips with meeting his family.

"Owen, let's go!" Ariel shouted as she stepped in her trainer box with Blaziken standing in front of her. "We're doing this together." Owen slowly stood up and walked towards the battlefield and he squared off with his mother, who was waiting for him to send out his Pokemon.

"Charizard, you're up!" Owen shouted, snapping out of his funk as he felt the rush of battle through his veins. Charizard flew off the bench and landed next to Blaziken, and the two fire types nodded at each other.

"I hope Mrs. Trainem wins," Eddy said aloud while looking at both sides.

"Me too, but I also don't want Owen to lose," Brooklyn added while waving at her boyfriend, who waved back before turning to whisper something to Ariel, Blaziken, and Charizard.

"Good point, but I doubt they're going to win," Daniel opined as Catherine pulled out two Pokeballs and smiled. "She's way stronger than them."

"Are you ready, kids?" Catherine asked, making Owen and Ariel nod along with Charizard and Blaziken. "Okay. Amber, Flint, it's time to battle!" Catherine cried while tossing the two Pokeballs in the air. The two Pokemon slowly materialized from the light released by the Pokeballs, and everyone gasped in shock when they saw Catherine's Pokemon. A Charizard wearing a red bow and a Blaziken with a red headband stood in front of Owen and Ariel's mother, squaring off with the teens' Pokemon.

"What the heck?" Cindy looked at the others on the bench and saw they were just as confused, and so were Owen and Ariel. Catherine, meanwhile, laughed at the reactions before looking over at Owen's friends.

"Would one of you mind being the referee?" Eddy shot off the bench and ran over to the referee box and raised his arms in the air, doing his best impersonation of the referees at the regional tournaments.

"This will be a double battle between Owen and Ariel, and Mrs. Trainem! Once both Pokemon on one side are unable to battle, the battle is over! Mrs. Trainem, you get the first move!"

"Thank you," the older woman said to Eddy while bowing. She then turned and her two Pokemon looked back at her excitedly, their eyes burning with fire. "Amber, use take to the sky! Flint, use Dig!" Owen and Ariel watched as Amber, the Charizard, began to fly in the air while Flint, the Blaziken, began to dig underground. Owen and Ariel looked back at each other and nodded, deciding they'd take on their mother's Pokemon individually.

"Charizard, fly after Amber and use Dragon Claw!" Charizard zipped through the air towards the larger Charizard while his claws were glowing light blue, and he attempted to swing at the female lizard. Much to Owen's surprise, Amber grabbed Charizard's arms and shot straight into the air at the speed of light.

"Blaziken, jump up and use Blaze Kick against the ground as hard as you can!" Blaziken, meanwhile, jumped in the air while his foot caught on fire, and he stomped on the ground as hard as he could. As he did that, Flint shot out of the ground and delivered a wicked uppercut, sending Blaziken into the air. Flint jumped after the younger Blaziken, and everyone looked on in awe.

"Amber, throw Charizard! Flint, throw Blaziken!" The two Pokemon began to spin quickly before flinging Charizard and Blaziken into each other, and the two fired types collided headfirst. When they landed on the ground, the two starters rubbed their aching heads while Amber and Flint retreated back to Catherine and grinned at their opponents.

"The only way we're going to do anything is if we work together," Owen whispered to Ariel, who completely ignored her brother.

"Blaziken, it's time to get serious! Mega Evolve!" Ariel shouted while putting her hand over her Mega Bracelet. Owen rolled his eyes and did the same thing while putting his hand over one of the Mega Stones in his bracelet, and both Blaziken and Charizard began to transform. Once the light flew off their bodies, everyone looked at Mega Blaziken and Mega Charizard X, who were growling at their opponents.

"Impressive, but that's nothing we can't do!" Catherine countered while tapping two stones in the Mega Bracelet on her wrist. Both Amber and Flint began to transform, and they took on the same forms as their younger counterparts.

"Oh man, this is getting good," Cindy said as she was sitting on the edge of her seat.

"Definitely. Things should start being even now," Brooklyn predicted, though Daniel shook his head in disagreement with the statement. He didn't say anything, however, and he continued to watch the battle.

"Charizard, use Flamethrower and combine it with Blaziken's!" Owen shouted in an attempt to make Ariel work with him. His plan payed off, as Ariel quickly followed his lead and pointed at the opponents.

"Blaziken, fire a Flamethrower at max power!"

"Amber, Flint, you know what to do," Catherine told her Pokemon, who nodded. Blaziken and Charizard reared back and fired their powerful attacks, which began to spin around each other before turning into a spiraling flame of blue and red fire, but Catherine and her Pokemon weren't fazed by the ferocity of the attack. With a powerful flap of her wings, Amber took to the air and grabbed a hold of Flint's hands, and the two Pokemon evaded the powerful combination from Charizard and Blaziken.

"Wow!" Eddy exclaimed as Amber threw Flint across the battlefield, and the fighting type began to spin acrobatically. Flint quickly dished out two Blaze Kicks that clobbered both Charizard and Blaziken, who were sent rolling across the battlefield. The Mega Evolved Pokemon got back up in obvious pain, but they refused to back down to their opponents, who had yet to be hit.

"Sky Uppercut, Blaziken!" Ariel commanded, seeing an opening as Flint got back on his feet. Blaziken sprinted forward while his fist was glowing light blue, and he swung at the older Pokemon. Much to his surprise, a pair of black arms grabbed him from behind and he was lifted into the air. Blaziken turned around to see Amber holding him, but he turned his face towards the ground when Amber descended at a blistering speed. The fire and dragon type powerfully hurled Blaziken against the ground, and he stopped moving.

"Blaziken is unable to battle!" Eddy declared before looking over at Owen and Charizard. The latter of the two slowly helped Blaziken off the ground, and the fighting type barely remained conscious. Amber and Flint watched as Charizard placed Blaziken off to the side of the battlefield, and he roared powerfully. Before any commands could be issued by Owen, Catherine raised her hands and walked onto the battlefield with a smile, confusing Charizard and the spectators.

"That's enough, the battle's over," the woman declared as she began to pet Owen's Charizard, who smiled at the attention. He then reverted back to his normal form just like Blaziken, Flint, and Amber, and everyone walked onto the battlefield, still confused about why the battled ended. "You two definitely got my battling skills," Catherine said to her children with a smile, but the responses were mixed. Owen beamed at the comment while Ariel shook her head in disgust.

"I don't mean to be rude, but why did you stop the battle?" Daniel asked the thirty three year old, who turned to face him.

"Well, both of my Pokemon going up against one isn't exactly fair. And I don't think parents like fighting their children," the brunette replied cheerily.

"Rawr?" Charizard quizzed, looking at the older Pokemon in front of him. Both Amber and Flint nodded, prompting Charizard to run forward and hug them tightly. Blaziken slowly made his way over to the three fire types and joined the hug, but he pulled away at the same time as Charizard when they realized what Catherine had said.

"Hold on. You're saying Charizard and Blaziken are their kids?" Owen inquired in shock.

"Yup."

"But how? I mean, I know how, but how did Charizard get to Kanto if you've been living in Kalos?"

"You see, I gave both Professor Oak and Birch the eggs for Charizard and Blaziken. I knew you'd end up picking them, because I told both of them to basically force you into it," Catherine informed Owen and Ariel with a sheepish grin.

"Why?" Ariel asked kindly, making Catherine grin.

"Come with me, I'll tell you everything you need to know," the mother ordered as she walked back into her house. Owen and Ariel looked at each other before following their mother, and everyone else trailed behind.

Well, that concludes this chapter. I thought about combining this with next chapter, but it didn't seem to flow too well, so that's the reason for that. So Owen and Ariel lost to Catherine and her Pokemon, who just so happen be the parents of Charizard and Blaziken. Next chapter will focus on Catherine's past, so that's all I've got. Till next time, peace out.

Next Chapter: "Owen's Origins": After losing their double battle to Catherine, Owen and Ariel learn about their mother and her past. What exactly did Catherine do when she was younger?
