Why don't you come over? Serah's making pancakes.

:D

7:16 AM

A rumpled Lightning opened the door in just her pajamas, still rubbing at sleepy eyes. Fang tried to sound sorry, but she was smiling too damn much. "Did my text get you up? Figured you'd be the five A.M kind of person."

Lightning shrugged, the hand going up to run through her hair. "Sometimes. Decided it was too cold." She stepped back. "Come in."

Fang stepped toward her instead, wrapping her in a hug and kissing her temple before urging her head onto her shoulder. "You poor thing," she cooed. Lightning snorted, but leaned into her all the same.

After removing her shoes and warmer clothes, they moved to the kitchen, where Serah was flipping pancakes like a professional. Wide awake and fully dressed, she smiled cheerily at them. "Fang! They're almost done. Coffee's on the counter."

"She's going to the library to study," Lightning said as she hunched down at the table, answering Fang's questioning look.

"Oh! You might see Vanille there. She wanted to sleep in since she doesn't work on Saturday, but she couldn't stand the cold either." Fang found the coffee mugs with ease, filling the first and setting it down for Lightning. She poured another for herself and sat beside her.

A moment later and Serah placed a stack of pancakes for both of them. Fang inhaled and almost broke into tears. "Holy… Light, you're a great cook, but your sister is really something else." Lightning smirked as she spread a light amount of butter over her pancakes. Fang made a small pool with the syrup.

By the time Serah left with her school bag, Fang was sighing happily over her empty plate while Lightning sipped on her coffee.

"So," Fang said suddenly, turning toward her and setting her chin on her hand. "What are your plans for the day?"

Lightning murmured against the rim of her mug, "I haven't decided yet."

"I did get you up, didn't I?"

Lightning shrugged. "Serah would have eventually. We always eat pancakes together on Saturdays." She glanced at Fang from the corner of her eye. "You could come over for them again, if you want. Serah wouldn't mind."

"I'd like that."

Fang placed a hand on Lightning's back, gently rubbing between her shoulder blades. She finally released the yawn Fang had seen her fighting all through breakfast.

"You're making me tired," Fang said as she touched her forehead to Lightning's shoulder.

Lightning set her mug down and dropped her head against Fang's. "Look who's talking."

Fang peered down Lightning's arm, to her fingers wrapped loosely around the mug's handle. Her own hand continued its random designs across Lightning's back, feeling the subtle bumps of her spine through her shirt, the obvious muscle outlined beneath skin.

She raised her head, hand never stopping. "Wanna take a nap with me?"

Lightning watched her for a moment. The hand she had under her chin moved its fingertips to her own shoulder, and Fang's hand slid up to meet them. Fingers linked, they stood from the table, and Lightning led her to her room. With the lights dim and the first touch of snow against the window, Fang curled up to Lightning's back, legs bent and feet sliding together. She played gently with Lightning's hair until she relaxed into her fully. Until their slow, shared breathing carried them to sleep.
