Deep Trouble
Victor Darius, otherwise known as Trent, knew that there were those who were fighting the same cause that he was. But ever since Umbrella stole his parent's life's work, twisted their research, murdered his parents along with thousands of others—it became personal.
Even after Umbrella was destroyed-shady conglomerates, terrorist organizations and twisted individuals would continue to use the basis of his parent's work as a weapon of unimaginable proportions.
Trent had decided a long time ago that he would make it a lifelong obsession to stopping them-but only on his own terms.
Trent smiled faintly at the government agent recalling the first time he met him. "It's been a long time Leon."
Trent paused for a moment, trying not to sound eager. "I'm sorry to trouble you but…I believe you have something that belongs to me?"
Without hesitation, Leon handed over the leather bag. "It should be all there" Leon said
He watched as Trent open the flap and take a quick look at its contents. Leon eyed him suspiciously. "In exchange, Sonya asks for your full cooperation in the up-coming months. She said your help would be detrimental to their cause." he replied.
Trent closed the bag and nodded, "Of course, anything to help an ally. Thank you again for retrieving the information for me. I hope it wasn't too much of an inconvenience"
Leon shrugged his shoulders, "Nothing out of the ordinary for me."
The limo stopped in front of a small café. The limo driver got out and opened Leon's door.
"I wish we can catch up and talk about old times, but I have a board meeting with the shareholders of TRICELL" Trent said
Leon nodded. He quickly exited out of the vehicle.
"Until next time…" said Trent as he waived at Leon through the window
Leon waived back as he watched the stretch limousine ease away from the curb and drive away. Leon turned and walked away.
Not anytime soon I hope…
Leon walked into the café and took a seat at an empty table inside. The café was small and quaint. Other than himself, there was one other customer sitting at the table next to him. Her face was covered by the newspaper she was reading.
Leon motioned to the waiter, "Kaphatok egy kávét kérem?" Leon asked.
A couple minutes later, the waiter returned with a cup of coffee.
"Köszönöm" Leon said in perfect Hungarian
"That's pretty good" said a familiar voice. Leon turned to the woman with the newspaper. She folded the newspaper and placed it down on the table. She walked over and took a seat next to Leon. Her shoulder length blond hair was tied back in a slick pony tail. She wore over-sized black sunglasses that hid her eyes. She was impeccably dressed in slacks and an expensive looking trench coat.
"Where did you learn to speak Hungarian?" asked Sonya
Leon took a drink of his coffee, "The Rosetta's Stone is a life-saver." He replied.
Sonya looked impressed. She motioned to the waiter. "Kaphatok egy capuccino és egy crossant kérem"?
The waiter nodded and disappeared into the kitchen, leaving Leon and Sonya alone.
"So Trent got what he wanted?" she asked
Leon nodded "Everything, except..." Leon pulled a small USB drive from his back pocket, "this"
He placed it on the table and slid it to Sonya. "I smuggled it out of the backpack before I left the bathroom. "
Despite the sunglasses, Leon could see a look of reassurance pass over Sonya's face. Sonya pulled out her computer, turned it on and sliped the drive in the USB port. Sonya took a moment to review its contents while Leon sat in the chair waiting, wondering when would be a good time to bring up Claire.
Leon scratched the back of his head, "Ummm…Sonya…"
Sonya raised her hand, stopping him in mid-sentence. Her eyes didn't leave the computer screen.
"Whatever happened between you and Claire…that's none of my concern. I'm sure there is a reasonable explanation to what ever happened. You and her will work things out. I know my daughter… and she can't stay mad at you for long, even if she tried."
Leon sat back in his chair and sighed. "I don't think so… not this time. She won't return my phone calls or emails."
Sonya sighed she removed her glasses, reached over and squeezed Leon's hand on the table. The gesture surprised him. He looked up at her and was surprised to see that Sonya's eyes were red and bloodshot. She looked as if she hadn't had any sleep for days.
"Son, it's not that she won't return your phone calls…It's because she can't."
Leon looked confused. He had no idea what she was talking about.
"What do you mean she can't?" Leon pressed.
The waiter returned and placed a cup of coffee and a croissant in front of Sonya.
"Van még valami?" The waiter asked
Sonya smiled and shook her head. She waited until the waiter went back into the kitchen to talk again.
"I'm afraid she got herself in deep trouble this time."
Leon felt a sudden concern for Claire. There was a long pause as Leon allowed the words to sink in.
Claire's in trouble
Leon paled, "How bad?"
The color was gone from Sonya's face. "Really bad"
