Disclaimer: I own nothing to do with Teen Wolf. And, I'm British, so if some of the jargon is different, I am sorry. Thank you, enjoy my story, and have a great day.

Derek POV

Watching her walk away, her eyes so hurt and watery made my heart ache with an emotion that I hadn't felt for a long time.

Guilt.

I should have told her about Melanie - I know that I should have, but I couldn't have her looking at me like she couldn't recognise me. The twisting in my gut told me that she was upset over my 'relationship', if you could really call it that, and I couldn't help but whine, low in my throat. Melanie pressed her hand on my lower abdomen, almost as a warning. She didn't like humans - she was a born werewolf, and therefore thought herself better than them in every way.

With annoyance, I could tell she looked down at my pack, simply because they were all made into what they are today. She growled and snarled at Lydia and Alison, because she didn't respect them as people, however the two of them stood their ground besides their respective mates, and they did me proud. Stiles went outside with her, making Isaac whimper to himself, but he steeled in the presence of the Alpha, Chris Torres.

I knew Chris from before my family died - I had only been a kid, maybe thirteen or fourteen when I met him for the first and only time, and he intimidated me then. He was a strong Alpha, with a loving mate and a beautiful sister, who I had a little bit of a crush on, even though she had been younger than I was at that time.

Half a year after Lily left, I ran into Melanie at an annual werewolf assembly in Toronto, Canada. It was mandatory for us, as wolves, to attend, and that night.. Was a blur, to say the least. We had had sex, more than once that night, and when I woke up the following morning, I got out of there, quick as a light, barely leaving her a note to explain myself.

And I hadn't seen her since.

I had heard rumours of her labelling me as her mate, but I didn't give it much thought as I didn't regard her in the same light. We had sex, but that was about it.

On my end anyway.

Apparently the rumours weren't exactly the fables that I had assumed, and she actually thought that we were.. Well, destined.

Like a submissive wolf would, she shuffled against me, trying to make my more dominant wolf rise to the occasion, but he had long stopped paying attention to the possible threats in the room, and was solely trained on the back of our true mate.

Lily.

Isaac coughed, lightly, and said, quietly, "Derek," alerting me to my rudeness.

"Sorry. Come," I said, plucking myself away for the surprisingly clingy brunette, "Sit."

I was the only one to sit down on the three-seated sofa, feeling Lily's scent caress my body. I had to throw away those thoughts, otherwise they could get me in deep shit.

Melanie tried to sit besides me, however a growl from her older brother, and Alpha, set her straight, and she ambled besides him, her glare acidic.

Christopher grinned as he sat, and took in my Pack, with respect in his eyes. He commented, "You're mate is a strong one, indeed."

"And yours," I sniffed the air, tasting the fresh scent of new life, "Is pregnant."

Iris grinned, proudly, and cupped her slightly bulging stomach, a loving expression in her eyes. Chris had her seated right beside him, tucked into his body, simply for safety purposes.

Just because Christopher and I were on amicable terms didn't mean he trusted me enough to leave his pregnant mate defenceless in my presence. And he was right to do so. I wouldn't have ever left Lily alone, had she not slipped from my grasp. I still shiver to think of what could have happened to her had she not fallen into the laps of such kind people. No matter his request, I would consent to it, simply because he protected the life of my mate, like it were his own.

"Derek," he began, seriously, "You understand we are not here as friends, however, in the near future, I hope that is what we could become."

With a curt nod, I replied, calmly, "I understand, Christopher. State your case."

He clasped his hands together, and said, "In light of the new addition to our family, we have considered moving into the nearby area. Not exactly in the centre of Beacon Hills, but we would cross paths, regularly. With your permission, I would hope that we would be able to greet one another on a more amiable level."

Sneaking a glance at the faces of my pack, I noticed that not one of them held an ounce of discomfort in their expressions. Well.. Maybe Scott, but he didn't like standing still for so long. It made him antsy. For once I was glad that Stiles wasn't present, as he was as hyperactive as one person could get.

My lips morphed into a grim line as I took in Melanie's sour expression and I found myself asking, curiously, "I understand your request. Would I have your word that none of the residents of Beacon Hills, California will be harmed by the hands of any member of your pack, past, present or future?"

"You have my word. On my honor as an Alpha. I would rather remove the threat myself then have a human harmed in the process."

I held out my hand, claws sheathed, and said, "Then, as the Alpha of this area, I accept your proposal. On my blood honor there will be no attempts on the lives of your pack."

He grabbed my own wrist with his, and at the same time, we both dug our claws into each other's forearms, drawing the right amount of blood for it to be legitimate, all the while keeping eye contact with one another.

Once we were through, he helped his pregnant mate stand, and said, "You have a fine pack here, Derek. Be proud of it," before promptly sweeping out of the loft.

Melanie lingered behind, sending me somewhat intense stares, and commented, quietly, "Your mate is.. Interesting," before following her pack mates.

As soon as they left, my Pack released a collected sigh of relief, and went about doing what they usually did. Read, snuggled close, watched TV or ate everything in my damn fridge. It didn't matter, because they got through their first ever formal werewolf meeting, and I was so proud of every single one of them. Even Lydia and Alison, who had no reason to be there, besides their obligation to their mates.

Speaking of mates.

It took nearly every ounce of my self-control to not bound out of the loft, and onto the roof to call her back into my arms, however she would have to return on her own. She, obviously, had some problems brewing within herself that she needed to quell on her own, before I could step in and explain myself. Forcing my being onto her would do more harm than good, and I couldn't bear to see her walk away from me, because of my bullheadedness.

Almost five minutes after the meeting came to an end, Peter waltzed out of the basement, as if it were nothing, and said, almost privately, "You're becoming the Alpha that your father wanted, you know, Derek."

And I thought today couldn't have gotten any weirder.

Review, guys! It'll make my day brighter!
