April leaves the dojo, finishing her talk with Master Splinter, passing the entrance to Donatello's laboratory. Donatello himself appears in the doorway.

"Hey April," He greets. He leans against the doorway. "You wanna go hang out tonight?"

"That sounds great, Donnie," April says.

Spike starts and almost falls off the couch.

"But, I can't," April continues. "I'm training with Splinter to be a kunoichi!"

Spike freezes and turns to look at her friend.

"Oh." Donatello casually disappears inside, probably to consult his flow chart. He reappears. "Ah." He clears his throat. "Well then, maybe we can train together sometime."

"Sounds great!" April turns and walks away.

"Aha! You see? My flowchart is AWESOME!"

Spike stands. "Mm hmm. Hang on."

~Where April Goes~

"Splinter?"

The rat master looks up at Spike. "Yes?"

"Did you really offer to train April?" she asks.

"Yes." Splinter cocks his head. "What is the matter with it?"

Spike runs her hand down her face. "I just…why?"

"Her abilities. Her 'feelings', the sense she has. It's intriguing. I offered to help her harness it."

Spike sits. "I don't have that ability."

"No." Splinter raises an eyebrow. "What's troubling you?"

"Why did you offer to her? I asked. Why didn't you offer training to me?" Spike asks hesitantly.

Splinter sighs. "You are fierce and determined. You have spent a long time pushing yourself to be better, physically. Physically you could handle training. Mentally, however…" He shakes his head. "Your experience with life has already hardened you, you've taught yourself how to set up walls around yourself. That's why you have few friends, am I correct?"

Spike nods, eyes downcast.

"You need to learn to be more open. April is open, and yearning. You strain to reach for higher goals, to better yourself, to make yourself harder, better. Faster. Stronger. You will not let people in, so few can help you. Asking someone for help would help your humility." Splinter puts a hand on her shoulder. "You have a great deal of pride, don't you?"

Spike nods again. "Sometimes it's all one has."

"I offered to train April because of her raw potential. Not because she is better than you."

Spike stands. "I'll remember that, Sensei."

She leaves the dojo.

She tries to stifle the burning resentment towards April. She approaches Leonardo. "Leo?"

He turns to look at her. "Yeah?"

"Remember when you offered to show me some moves?"

Leonardo nods. "Yeah."

"I'm prepared to take you up on that."

"Splinter's already training you," Leonardo points out. "Why do you want my help?"

"I want to be better," Spike says firmly. "Show me how."
