MONDAY - AT SCHOOL - 28th
Tommy hadn't seen Jenny all morning. He knew she was there - he'd seen her car in the parking lot earlier. The Rangers walked up to him, all of them frowning. "What's up, guys?"
Kira spoke first. "Have you seen her today?"
There was no doubt in Tommy's mind who she was referring to. "No, not yet. Why?"
Conner said, "Because she looks like hell." The other Rangers nodded in agreement.
Now Tommy frowned as well. "We don't have any of the same free periods. Maybe I'll just have to swing by her classroom later."
Trent shook his head. "Doesn't that defeat the purpose of creating space between us and her if you go see her?"
Tommy was already frustrated that he hadn't seen or talked to her since she left. This wasn't helping. "We'll keep an eye on her as much as we can, Dr. O." Kira assured him.
He sighed. "I guess that's all we can do for now. Let me know if-"
"We will." The girl nodded firmly. Tommy realized that Kira was worried about her mentor almost as much as he was. He couldn't help but wonder - how bad was Jenny?
His next free period he gave in to the temptation and headed for her classroom. He stood back where he wouldn't be seen by her class, but he could see her through the window in the door. The kids were right - she didn't look good but he was sure that it would only be noticed by those who knew her best. 'I love you' he thought to her.
She smiled briefly and thought back 'As I love you.' She didn't miss a beat as she returned her attention to the class.
He watched her for a few more minutes and then headed back to his own classroom to get ready for his last class.
