Chapter 47

Adeline fixed her shirt and made sure her green cargo pants were tied back up so they wouldn't fall off her when she and Castiel returned to where Bobby was. She glanced over at Castiel as he was tucking back in his shirt, his back to her. She smirked and raked a hand through her even more dishelved hair before leaning against the wall and was just watching him.

She eyed the bite mark on his neck and grimaced a bit, she got a bit angry during everything thinking about his secrets and killing Rachel that she lost a bit of control during their festivities. Castiel though didn't seem to mind and even joined in with her mirth. She placed a few fingers on the mark of her own that Castiel had given her.

That was when Castiel looked back over at her, he frowned when he saw her fingers on the mark and walked over to her brushing them away. "I apologize for being rough with you. Let me heal this."

Adeline ducked underneath him and walked a few paces before turning back around to eye him up and down. "You don't have to apologize for anything, Castiel. Now let's go see if Bobby found anything out about Eve." She smirked before walking away a sway in her hips and a sort of lazy spring in her step as she walked back to Bobby.

Castiel smiled at the sight of her backside and touched his own neck, he wasn't going to get rid of the mark Adeline had left on him. It still felt amazing, like a piece of her was there with him, he could still feel the press of her lips then the sting of her teeth before the soothing of her tongue there. He wondered if she felt the same with the mark he had made on her. He couldn't help but feel very pleased that she didn't want it healed. Castiel lingered another second thinking about what they had just done and how Adeline made him feel, before another bout of guilt hit him and by the time he made it to Bobby the smile was off his face.

"Eve knows what you're doing and you're just making her mad." The starship spouted out.

"Then tell the bitch to come get me." Bobby lowered his voice dangerously.

"I need five minutes alone with him." Castiel said in that gravelly voice of his and Bobby turned surprised. He hadn't heard them coming or noticed Adeline and Cas standing there until he spoke.

"What for? Cas, your batteries are dead."

"Give me five minutes. Go with him too Adeline."

"All right. Fine." Bobby sighed and grabbed Adeline's arm and tugged a frowning Adeline behind him. "I never agreed to leave." She grumbled but complied going with him.

Bobby leaned against a desk and pulled out his flask while Adeline was sitting on the one across from him her legs crossed and a frown on her face as they heard screaming coming from where Cas was.

"I could've got the information if Dean didn't interrupt." She complained and Bobby cast her a disdainful look right before Cas came around the corner wiping his hands off. "Eve's at twenty-five Buckley Street." He glanced up at Adeline wondering what she thought about him now and his shoulders eased just a bit when he didn't see any judging on her face for he had to do. "You can call Sam and Dean." He said looking back at Bobby before leaving to wash his hands.

/

Adeline had made mental notes anytime Castiel had glanced her way, anytime he opened his mouth like he was going to tell her something before closing it, anytime he would look far off into the distance, anytime his eyebrows furrowed and all the times he avoided her gaze.

He was better at hiding his secret before now and was franticly surprised that she was disappointed he seemed to behaving suspicious now. Surely he could tell how he was acting around her. Then again depending on how long he was keeping whatever it was he was hiding from her, he could be rack full of guilt and them having sex surely wasn't helping his situation. Even though she felt less tensed up she really couldn't say the same for him. He was looking out the window now and she could practically feel how tense he was.

Although Bobby didn't seem to think anything was up she also noted that along with the silence they all seemed to be keeping up. Adeline touched the mark on her neck, she could feel Castiel's lingering warmness there, it wasn't as intense as before but it still felt nice.

"Can you feel how I'm feeling?" She asked curious breaking the silence.

Bobby gave her a look wondering what the hell she was talking about but realized her eyes were on the back of the trench coated figure who had tilted his head at the sound of Addy's voice.

"I couldn't at first but I feel as if I can feel you more than before. Your presence seems to get a little stronger each time we…make love." Castiel said the last part a little quieter and she snorted at his reaction, he actually seemed a bit bashful about it.

Bobby grimaced. "I'm still in the room idjits. In case you forgot."

"To specifically answer your question. I can just feel you, I can know where you are just by thinking about you and reaching to your soul or grace. As for your feelings, no. I cannot feel those. Why?" Castiel turned his head to her and she saw his eyebrows furrowing probably thinking over what he's been feeling wondering if she could feel what he feels probably she thought.

"Curiosity. I can also feel when you're around so I was just wondering if it went more than that." She looked away from his deep blue eyes and saw him frown as he took a step closer to her. "Can you feel what I'm feeling?" He asked her.

"No." She said and she felt herself relax a bit. She knew it wasn't her feeling relaxed at all but Castiel. At least he wasn't as tense anymore she picked up a book Bobby had found for her while they were waiting for Sam and Dean to get back. They shouldn't be here too much longer, hopefully she thought as she cracked the spine of the book and started reading,

Castiel leaned against the wall and watched Adeline's eyes flicker from page to page devouring the book she had. He never really saw her read before but he now that he had he wished he had seen her read a book before. Her face was more expressive when she was reading, her lips would curve up or she would grin and now she was scowling at the book. It was a sight to behold, Adeline had been getting more expressive in her face since her soul repaired but it was nothing like now. Even her eyes were filled with emotion.

"Is she always like this?" He whispered to Bobby not wanting Adeline to stop reading. Bobby looked over at Adeline sitting on the desk Indian style as she read. He watched as she covered her mouth he knew she was trying to prevent a laugh from escaping. Bobby just nodded his head at the angel. "She's always liked books. Seems to be any variety too. She's reading a biography right now on some guy I've never heard of." He told the angel wondering if anyone else could get such entertainment from one besides her. He had really enjoyed the time he had with her when she had been staying with him, reading had been one of her hobbies that she started up again and not just lore books either.

Adeline's eyes flickered up and the light from her eyes disappeared as she raised a brow at them. "Problem?"

"No." They both answered quickly and Adeline set down her book and dropped legs so they were hanging. "What?"

"It's just…."

"Back, see that didn't take too long!" Dean shouted strutting in with Sam behind him.

He frowned when his eyes met Adeline's and both their eyes narrowed at each other and Dean saw the mark on her neck and had noticed Castiel had one on his. His glare deepened and he turned to Bobby. "So do we know where Eve is?"

/

"You gotta be kidding me. She's been there the whole time?" Dean asked seeing the diner they had ate at earlier.

"Why'd she ever let us in or out?" Sam wondered aloud looking at his sister. She just shrugged her shoulders at him.

"There's one way to find out."

"What, just stroll in?" Bobby gruffed out at her. "We don't know who's human who's her." He added.

"Well, there's one way to draw her out. Me and Sam will go in." Dean told him and Adeline scowled at her older brother.

"Dean." Bobby argued but Dean shut the hunter down.

"Look, we don't get a shot off, you three better."

"That's the plan?"

"Yeah, pretty much." Dean started walking off his brother behind him and Adeline behind him. He paused hearing her footsteps and glared back at her. "I told you to stay here."

"You're not the boss of me Dean." Adeline stuck out her tongue whilst Sam looked between the two wondering what was going on between them but stayed quiet not wanting to get in the mess of things.

"Adeline, stay here with your feather boy and Bobby. I won't tell you again." He hissed. Adeline raised a brow. "You're right, you won't." She said and then took off at a brisk pace to get in front of him. Castiel called her name his voice full of worry at her recklessness.

Dean cursed and followed right behind her. "Does anyone want to explain what's going on?" Sam looked back at Bobby and Castiel. Bobby just shrugged it wasn't really his place and Castiel was just watching Adeline's retreating form not daring to take his eyes off hers.

Sam sighed before he caught up with them. He should of picked up something happened between the two of them during the car ride he and Dean had took. Dean had been more tensed and had looked like someone pissed in his coffee. He figured the reason for the mood was because of Castiel, he should have known it was because of Adeline.

Adeline and her brothers sat down at the bar stool. "Now what?" Dean asked and Sam pulled out his phone. "Crap, crap, crap." Sam said as he looked at all the people in the restaurant.

"Is there anybody in this diner that is not a flesh eating monster?"

"Uh, Me, you and Ads."

"Well okay, let's get the hell out of here. Shall we?" Dean told him and the two turned to go but Adeline stayed right where she was not planning on leaving. Dean noticed and was about to yank her off her ass but a waitress came over. "Two specials and a cup of tea, right?" She asked and set down the plates in front of Sam and Dean and grabbed the tea before setting it in front of Adeline.

"Uh, no. That's not for us. We were just heading out." Sam told her and Dean gave Adeline a pointed look as she took a sip of her tea. Adeline wasn't watching him though she was watching the waitress.

"Now, that would be rude, Sam."

Dean and Sam looked at her picking up what Adeline had deduced a bit before them.

"Let me guess. Eve."

"Pleasure." She told the youngest Winchester.

"Why don't we step outside, chat?" Dean asked her in a low voice.

"Why? This is private and besides I think Adeline would rather talk in here." Eve glanced over at the girl who was taking another sip of the tea that was laced with honey.

"It is a bit nippy out there." Adeline commented just as one of the Starships got up and closed the blinds. Eve smiled at her while Dean shot daggers at his sister as the Starship grabbed the bag Dean had carried in with him.

Eve took and pulled out the riffle giving it a sniff. "Phoenix ash, I'm impressed. I bet you had to go a long way for that."

"You have no idea." Dean told her before turned to the starship and told him to destroy the weapons.

"Relax, I'm not here to fight." She told the Winchester's with a smile painted on her face.

"No, just to rally every freak on the planet, bring in khan worms and half assed spider-men and dragons. Really, sister? Dragons?" Dean scoffed.

"So I dusted off some of the old classics. I needed help. Besides your dear little sister had fun with the dragons if I recall." Eve glanced over at Adeline.

"With what?" Sam drew her attention away from Adeline. "Tearing apart the planet?"

Eve leaned down closer to Sam and outstretched her arms in front of him. "You misunderstand me. I never wanted that, not at first. I liked our arrangement."

"What arrangement?"

"The natural order. My children turned a few of you. You hunted a few of them. I was happy." She explained to the hunters.

"Okay. So, what changed?"

"My children, no thanks to you, started getting kidnapped and tortured, even my firstborns. I was pushed into this. After all, a mother defends her children."

"Really? You're gonna use the mother of the year defense? You?" Dean was practically rolling his eyes at her.

"It happens to be true. Adeline knows what a mother would do for her children. Don't you?" Eve smiled at her and Adeline's eyes narrowed. Of course she would know she thought displeased. "Maybe you should ask her sometime what exactly she had been doing before the two of you scooped her back up. But I think you'll believe it if I look a little more like this." Eve said before she changed her appearance to look like Mary.

"Oh, you bitch." Dean said the most affected. Sam looked surprised and Adeline looked like she could care less about the appearance of their mom.

"She died to protect you, didn't she?" Eve taunted them. "See? You understand a mother's love. I'm no different."

"All right, conversation's over. If you're going to kill us, kill us. Frankly this is getting a little too anti-climactic for my taste." Adeline smirked at Eve as she crossed her legs, still holding up her tea-cup.

"You? Oh dear, Adeline. It's not you or your brothers I want dead. It's Crowley."

Adeline raised a brow and frowned. "Well, you're too late there. That little limey mook roasted months ago." Dean took over the conversation.

Eve just smiled at him. "Crowley's alive."

"That's impossible." Sam argued with he and she came around the bar. "I see his face through the eyes of every child he strings up and skins. Any idea why he's hurting my babies?" she asked him just as Adeline's cup fell out of her hands. It crashed to pieces on the floor and they all turned their attention to her.

Adeline was scowling at the broken cup. "Damn, stupid small handle. I don't suppose I could another one?" She asked Eve.

Eve just gave her a smile. "No, only one cup per customer." She told the girl and Adeline sighed.

"He wants purgatory, right? Location, location, location." Dean said bringing the topic back to why they were all here not all pleased with his sister at the moment. He knew she was clumsy at times but seriously?

Eve chuckled. "Is that what he told you?"

"It's about the souls." She told them.

"What about them?"

"They're power, you simple little monkey. Fuel. Each soul a beautiful, little nuclear reactor. Put them together, you have the sun. Why do think your sister smells like a warm summer breeze? It's a mixture of her soul and her grace put together although she tries to hide it with the smell of roses. But it's there." Eve walked over to Adeline and sniffed her neck.

"Now, think what the king of hell could do with that vast, untapped oil well. How powerful he'd be. Now, Crowley wants to siphon off my supply and torture my children to do it?" She sad getting back on the subject.

"Okay, fine. I'll quit playing nice. I'll turn you all. Every soul, mine. Let's see how hot his hell burns when everyone comes to me. He asked for it." Eve finished.

"You know, last I checked, there are a few billion of us. That plan might take a while." Dean told her revealing the flaw in her plan. Eve just crossed her arms starring at him. "What exactly do you think I'm doing here?"

"I'm building the perfect beast."

"Wait a second. All those…all those things we've been finding." Sam said catching on.

"Beta testing." She smirked.

Dean cast a look at his brother before turning to Eve. "Well, I think your formula might be a little off. They're imploding all over town."

"Well, there were a few unfortunate failures. But I eventually got it right. Quiet, smart, inconspicuous. It can spread through a whole town in under a day. Oh, and the best part, you've been with it the whole time."

"What?" Dean asked her not understanding as Adeline's face grew harder and she cursed under her breath.

"Yes, you were the final test. I had to see if it could slip past hunters undetected, of course. Little Ryan." She smiled and Dean swallowed. Ads would never let go of this he thought miserably. He and Sam had actually took him home to people he could infect.

"You look upset." Eve stated seeing the downcast faces of the brothers' faces and the annoyed one on Adeline's. "If it makes you feel any better, Ryan was bound to work on you. Little wayward orphan like yourselves." Eve touched the boys shoulder's then pinched Sam's cheek.

"There's nothing you can do about it now. So let's talk."

"Nothing to say." Sam told her.

"Well, that's where you're wrong. I have an offer to propose. Crowley, as you know, not so easy to find. So here's the deal. You find him, bring him to me and I let you live. Also the two of you can get your sister back. I mean I need to keep her here with me as extra collateral so you know I'm serious."

Dean took in a breath and let it out before answering no. Sam looked at him surprised. "Dean." He said a bit worried. Eve was planning on keeping Ads here until he and Dean could deliver and he was willing to risk Ads. Sam frowned he knew Dean was angry at Ads but this was going too far.

"Sam, no. The answer is no."

Sam's eyes met Adeline's and her eyes were downcast an unreadable expression on her face.

"You say that like you have another option." Eve told the oldest Winchester.

"Maybe I do, maybe I don't." Dean shot at her.

"You think?" She asked looking over at the door just as it opened and in walked Castiel and Bobby being manhandled by some of the Starships.

"Well, so much for you plan B." She told him then turned to the angel.

"And you wondering why you're so flaccid? I'm older than you, Castiel. I know what makes angels tick. As long as I'm around, consider yourself unplugged." She winked at him before moving back to the boys.

"Work for me, it's a good deal."

After she was met with silence she sighed. "Bonus, I won't kill your friends." She added.

"All right, look, the last few months we've been working for an evil dick. We're not about to sign up for an evil bitch. We don't work with demons. We don't work with monsters. And if that means you gotta kill us, then kill us!" He shouted at her.

"Or I turn you, kill your angelic sister other there and you do what I want anyways." Eve threatened.

"Beat me with a wire hanger, answer's still no." Just as he was done saying it Eve had pounced on him and her fingers were digging into his shoulder and two starships held Sam back and three more had pulled Adeline away from her bar stool.

"Don't…test…me." Eve said in a lowered voice in Dean's ear. Dean turned a bit towards her so he could look her in the eye. "Bite me."

Eve sunk her teeth into Dean's neck and Sam cried no while trying to get out of his captor's arms. Adeline just stayed where she was at and crossed her arms a frown on her face at the scene.

"Dean!" Castiel shouted worried for the man he come to think of as a friend.

Eve let go of Dean just as fast as she had bitten into him and backed away coughing.

Dean stood up and gave a smug look at Eve while holding onto his neck. "Phoenix ash. One shell, one once of whiskey, down the hatch. Little musty on the after burn. Call you later mom." Dean told her as they all watched as she died.

As soon as she collapsed chaos started. Sam and Dean were under attack by some of the Starships. Adeline had pulled out her blade and stabbed the Starship's holding on to her. Bobby was getting shoved by another one. "Close your eyes!" Castiel shouted and raised a hand.

Everyone did but Adeline, instead she just looked right at the light. The light that was Castiel's grace before her, encasing her with warmth and sent a pleasurable shiver through her body. The light was over and Castiel stared at Adeline who raised a brow.

"We gotta take you on more monster hunts or get you to teach Ads, that." Bobby stated looking at the damage before them all.

"Adeline, already knows how to use her grace as a weapon." Castiel stated calmly as he looked down at the bodies, making sure they were all taken care of.

"Hey…uh Cas. Dean's bleeding pretty good." Sam told the angel.

"I think she turned me into a Jefferson Starship. Could you clear that up too?" Dean asked him and Castiel finally looked over at him. He touched Dean's shoulder and healed him.

"We gotta go. Now." Dean said out of breath. "Where?" Castiel asked seeing it was urgent from the look on Dean's face.

"The kid." He admitted. "The little kid, he's one of them."

"Unbelievable." Cas looked away and rolled his eyes.

"Yeah, I know Cas. You told me, Ads told me. Let's just go." Castiel gave him another expressing how displeased he was that Dean didn't listen to him in the first place before he took them all to the where the little boy had been dropped off.

"So we kill the wicked witch and she still wins." Dean commented seeing the body in front of them.

"No thanks to you." Adeline muttered and Dean shot a fierce look at her.

"I mean they could've turned half the town by now. Don't say it." Dean pointed at Cas who had turned to tell Dean he should have listened to him.

Bobby and Adeline meanwhile had walked off and Bobby opened a door. He turned to Adeline and they both raised their brows at each other before Adeline knelt down to check the bodies out and Bobby called to the boys that he found them.

Sam and Dean rushed over while Castiel just walked over. "Well, who ganked them?" Dean asked.

Adeline held her hand up and was showing them the sulfur on her fingers. "Demons." She said and they all looked around at each other a bit surprised at the revelation. "What do you think?" Sam asked.

"I think demons don't give a damn about monsters unless they're told to." Dean answered.

"So you think she was telling the truth?"

"The truth about what?" Castiel asked Sam turning to him wondering what he was going on about.

Sam looked over at Adeline and when she wasn't offering up anything he turned his eyes to Dean. "She said that Crowley's still kicking." He said looking over at the angel.

"But I burned his bones. How..? Was she certain?" Castiel asked playing the fool.

"Sounded pretty sure. According to her, Crowley's still waterboarding her kids somewhere."

"I don't understand." Castiel said lowly.

"Well, he's a crafty son of a bitch."

"I'm an angel. I'll look into it immediately." Castiel said and without even a glance at Adeline he disappeared with a flap of his wings.

"Cas! Let us know what you find out!" Dean called into the empty air knowing the angel could hear him.

Sam, Adeline and Bobby all moved away from the door.

"What?" Dean asked them seeing there grave looking faces.

"Do you want to tell me why you left me to die?" Adeline glared at him before anyone else could speak up. Dean turned to her and scowled. "I don't know what the hell you're talking about?"

Adeline pulled out her gun from underneath her jacket. She knew it had felt light but she had figured it was because of the one bullet in her gun that had phoenix ash in it. She knew that Eve knew she had the gun but Eve had left it on her person anyways. She probably knew it was an empty gun. Adeline opened up her gun and showed off the empty barricade in it to Dean.

Bobby and Sam looked at it surprised before they too frowned and looked over at Dean. "Dean." Bobby said in a dangerous tone telling him to explain.

Dean just shrugged his shoulders. "Figured if any of us were to survive without a weapon it would have been you. Besides you have your own angel blade."

Adeline bristled at his words. "I only had my blade after Eve died, Dean. You see I tucked it away safely in hammer space until I need it. It is one of the only things that can kill me, so why would I always have it Dean?" She glared at her brother and he scowled back at her.

"You left me for dead and you knew it." Adeline hissed at him before she too disappeared leaving them all.

Sam frowned at Dean. "Seriously, Dean? You practically tell Eve to kill her and you left her unarmed." He crossed his arms at his brother and even Bobby had his arms crossed glaring at the oldest Winchester.

"Well now we have two issues to deal with." Bobby muttered. "What do you mean?" Dean asked him.

"How did Crowley get away? I mean it's not like Cas to make mistakes like that, unless…"

"Unless what?" He questioned.

"Unless he meant to." And Sam nodded agreeing. "And of course there's your sister who the angel is all sweet on. There's a possibility she could know something about this and now you've gone and done something stupid to piss her off so we can't even question her or ask her thoughts about all this until we get home." Bobby added and Sam frowned.

"Bobby, this is Cas and Ad's we're talking about." Bobby just stayed silent and Dean turned to look at Sam. "Do you believe this?"

"Not about Ads, but Cas…." Sam said softly.

"Sam?"

"No you're right it's probably nothing." Sam told him brother but he still wasn't feeling sure. He knew Adeline would have nothing to do with all this…..

/

Adeline was in her room at Bobby's and was looking everything other before she called for Gabriel to come over.

The angel appeared before her with a cocky grin. "Adeline, it's been awhile. You got bored of my brother and now you're ready to play with me?" He joked and his smile fell some when he saw how serious she was staring at him. "So not a pleasure call then."

"I need your help, I want to know how to make myself scarce to all angels including Castiel."

Gabriel raised a brow at her. "Trouble in paradise?"

"Gabriel."

"Fine, fine." He put his hand on her heart and muttered a few words in enochian that Adeline made sure to memorize for the spell before she felt her body heat flare up then it dispersed.

Gabriel stepped back from her a grin on his face as he watched her gather her breath back from the pain. "You want to explain to me, what all is going on?" He waggled his eyebrows.

Adeline looked up at him and snapped her fingers. All her possessions disappeared leaving her room bare except for the painting on the wall. "Not here." Was all Adeline said before she placed a hand on Gabriel's shoulder and took him somewhere else.

/

Castiel was back at the diner staring at all the monsters he had obliterated while his guilt tortured him. He was hiding things from Adeline and everyone else. Castiel started walking around wondering if he should tell Adeline he was tired from hiding everything from her.

"Really, Cas. This is getting ridiculous." Crowley said from behind him and Castiel turned around to face him. "How many times am I going to have to clean up your messes?"

Castiel just frowned at him he was thinking of Adeline. No, he would explain everything to her after it was done. It would be best that way.
