A/N Thanks to my awesome readers and reviewers as always. Now on to something else….. *Pulls at hair while screaming* Why is it so hard to find a Beta! Gah! So here's the deal, I'm writing a Young Justice story that I really need a Beta for. I had a Beta but unfortunately her schedule prevented her from continuing and I haven't been able to replace her. It's a super dark, like, I can't believe this even came from my brain I think I need some therapy type story. If any of you would be interested in Beta-ing it for me please PM me and I'll tell you more.

As soon as she was gone Magnus hurried to the bedroom to check on his boyfriend, who he found sitting up in the bed sipping a glass of water.

"How do you feel babe?" He asked gently, taking a seat at the foot of the bed.

"Better." Alec told him as he absently rubbed his abdomen. "Sorry that I scared you."

"It's fine sweetheart. You didn't know." Magnus said, reaching out to place a hand on Alec's knee.

"When were you going to tell me?" Alec asked, looking up to meet Magnus's eyes.

"Tell you what baby?" The warlock asked in confusion.

"That you didn't know if she'd come or not."

"Well, I was just trying to leave you out of it. I didn't want to drag you into the middle of a fight…"

"What if I'd actually been in labor?" Alec cut in angrily.

"What?"

"What if I'd actually been in labor and she hadn't come? What if something serious happened and you weren't around? Think about what could've happened if I'd been trying to reach her in an emergency with no idea why she wasn't answering back."

"Honey nothing like that happened."

"But it could have!" Alec yelled. It was clear that he was beyond upset with Magnus. The warlock felt terrible, he hadn't thought Alec would be angered by this.

"Alec…"

"Don't Alec me. Something could've been wrong with the baby."

"She came though."

"But you didn't know that she would! God, Magnus what if when I tripped…" He cut himself off abruptly, eyes widening.

"When did you trip?" Magnus demanded.

"I didn't, it was hypothetical." Alec said, in what could barely be called an effort to lie.

"When did you trip?" His boyfriend repeated.

"Last week, when you were working late."

"What happened?" Magnus asked gently. He crawled forward to sit next to Alec.

"Jace was over and when he went to leave I walked him down to the street. On the way back up I dropped my phone, when I turned around to get it I tripped." Alec told him with a shrug.

"Did you fall or just stumble?" The warlock inquired.

"I fell. It was just on my butt though and I caught myself with my hands too. It wasn't a bad fall, it just shook me up."

"Why didn't you say anything?"

"I didn't want you to worry. Nothing was wrong. He was kicking and there was no blood, so I just laid down and went to sleep after a while. It didn't seem important to tell you the next morning."

"You should have told me!" Magnus protested. "What if something had been wrong?"

"Honey, nothing like that happened." Alec mocked him.

"Are you really going to make a fight out of this?" Magnus asked, incredulous.

"What were you going to do if she wasn't going to come?" Alec insisted.

"Well, we were just going to go to the hospital if she wasn't…"

"I told you I didn't want to go to the hospital." Alec interrupted.

"Baby, I know but if it was our only choice…" Magnus tried to defend himself.

"It's not a choice!" Alec interjected. "I don't want to go to the hospital."

"You went before." Magnus argued.

"I thought our son's life was in danger." His boyfriend countered.

"What's the problem with him being born in a hospital?"

"I don't want to go to the hospital."

"Well if it was our only option…"

"Then it would've been your fault!"

"Alec, is this really worth fighting about?"

"You made the decision that you were fine with making me go to the hospital to give birth even though you knew that that's not what I wanted and you weren't even going to tell me until it was too late to find another warlock." Alec accused his boyfriend harshly.

"It wasn't like that!" Magnus protested. "Besides, it's smarter to go to the hospital any way…"

"Oh you did not just say that to me." Alec said darkly.

"Say what? That trying to have a baby at home with no medical assistance is stupid when there's a hospital right down the street?"

"I thought you were okay with this." Alec whispered. Tears filled his eyes and threatened to spill down his cheeks.

"I was. Alec, I'm just nervous for you and the baby." Magnus stood and began pacing next to the bed while running his hands through his dark hair.

"We're going to be fine Magnus."

"How do you know that though?"

"Why are you suddenly so worried?"

"I'm not 'suddenly' worried. I love you and I love him. I want you both to be safe."

"Magnus look, I'm going to be fine and so is the baby!" Alec protested.

"I just don't know why you're so against the hospital."

"It's not the way Shadowhunters do things."

"I'm not a Shadowhunter."

"But I am and so is Carter!" Alec screamed.

"Carter?" Magnus asked softly. Alec blushed, embarrassed that he'd said that out loud.

"Yeah, you liked Carter right? Because I didn't really have my heart set on it, we could pick something else." Alec told Magnus hurriedly, even though it was a lie.

"No, Carter is…great." Magnus said. "It's perfect."

"You really like it?" Alec asked skeptically.

"Yeah honey. It's a beautiful name for a beautiful little boy." Magnus told him.

"He's going to be perfect Magnus." Alec said, gently running his hand over his stomach.

"I know."

"Then just trust me, okay?" Alec pleaded.

"Alec…" Magnus began.

"No, Magnus. I know you're scared but I'm the one having a baby. I want him to be born here." Alec reasoned. Magnus put his head in his hands and sighed.

"Okay." The warlock relented.

"You're sure?" Alec asked. Magnus sat down on the edge of the bed and placed a hand over Alec's abdomen.

"Is it what Carter wants?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Yes." Alec said with a laugh. "That's definitely what Carter wants."

"Well, I'm a pushover so I guess I can't resist him." Magnus said with a smile. He leaned over to kiss Alec gently and just like that all anger was forgotten. Magnus was pretty sure that's how you knew it was true love. You cared too much to be angry.
