Espeon iron tail

The psychic Pokémon's split tail took on a white glow.

Darkrai ice beam

The dark type put its hands together and fire a cold beam the Espeon. Despite the type disadvantage against iron tail Darkrai's power pushed Espeon back.

Use zap cannon

A bright yellow ball of sparking electricity formed in front of the orb on Espeon's forehead.

Dodge it

The pitch black Pokémon swiftly floated to the right. The powerful electric attack flew past it as the dark Pokémon quickly closed in on its opponent.

Now dark pulse

Espeon was hit before it could do a thing. The powerful dark attack blasted the psychic Pokémon back and knocked it flat out.

"Espeon is unable to battle. Darkrai is the winner, and the victory goes to Tobias!"

"No way! He won using only one Pokémon?!" Said Morrison in shock.

"That surprises you? How is that any different than anyone else he's battled?" Asked Paul. Ash unnoticeably smirked to himself. He had to use two Pokémon against him.

"Because she's a battle frontier brain! I heard those trainers were really strong." Morrison was still in shock.

"Tobias is in his own league of strength." Ash said. He and Paul knew just how powerful he was.

"Even so, I've battled Anabel before myself. She's a strong trainer and even she got beat that easily." Said Reggie in awe.

"Don't tell me you're scared." Paul scoffed.

"For good reason." He said as he turned to his brother. "Make sure you be careful if you go up against him." Reggie said giving him some brotherly advice.

"Hm." Paul huffed to himself.

Get behind the rocks

Salamence flew behind some rocks on the battlefield to avoid the blizzard attack that was coming its way.

Hydro pump

Blastoise shot a powerful water stream from its shell cannons that blasted right through the rock and plowed into the dragon.

Dragon claw

Water spout

Salamence flew right back at Blastoise with claws ready. Blastoises's response was having water gush out from its cannons in all directions. Salamence was knocked off balance by the powerful water spout. Blastoise finished up with another blizzard that left Salamence out cold.

"Salamence is unable to battle. Blastoise is the winner, and the victory goes to Red!"

Salamence dragon claw

Drake's Salamence quickly shot forth with its claws raised.

Glaceon shadow ball

The ice type avoided the claws and jumped from ice pillar to ice pillar on the ice battlefield. Once it got a got a good angle for an attack, Glaceon launched a shadow ball at the dragon Pokémon. The red winged dragon was hit in the side by the ghost attack.

Use flamethrower

Ice beam

The dragon Pokémon released its powerful flame attack from its mouth. Glaceon jumped up into the air as the fire melted the ice of where it once stood. The ice type countered with a blue beam that connected dead on with its target.

"Salamence is unable to battle. Glaceon is the winner, and the victory goes to Cynthia!"

Volcarona bug buzz

A giant fire moth flapped its red and orange wings as continues red waves were spread across the battlefield.

Hold your ground

The powerful Regirock stood strong to Volcarona's attack. It just stood there, not moving an inch without order.

Use psychic

Regirock was encased in a psychic grasp and lifted into the air.

Use shockwave

Regirock managed to get its rock arms together and fired an electrical blast at the fire moth that shocked it out of its psychic concentration.

Now stone edge

Regirock's feet were planted back onto the ground of the grass field while several sharp stones were generated around it. With a wave of the arm the rock Pokémon sent them flying across the field.

Fire blast

Volcarona fired back with a five star blast of flames that the stones ripped through with ease as the rocks took the sun Pokémon out of the air and down to the ground.

"Volcarona is unable to battle. Regirock is the winner, and the victory goes to the 'Pyramid King' Brandon!"

"Wow. I can't believe Benga lost." Morrison said to himself.

"Yeah. I was watching him with promise in this tournament." Reggie said.

"Well, there's one less threat to deal with." Paul murmured without any real opinion.

"Benga's team was pretty dragon heavy, so he had a real hard time dealing with Regice." Tyler said.

"Type advantage just wasn't with him." Jamie shrugged.

"But Brandon…He is as strong as ever." Reggie looked out on the field.

"Yeah. He's good." Paul frowned.

"Hey Tyler, aren't you up next?" Ash realized.

"Yeah, I am. See you guys later." He said before leaving the observing area.

"Good luck!" Morrison waved at him as he left. It was then when Jamie turned to Ash.

Let's just hope you have better luck against the kid's grandfather." He said before turning his attention back to the field.

"Hey Barrett, wait up!" Called a voice through the stadium halls. The black haired 20 year old stopped and looked back to see Nitro calling his name.

"Where're you going man? The battles are still going on." Nitro asked curiously, pointing to the entrance behind him.

"I'm not battling today. There's no reason to stick around." He simply responded with folded arms.

"Ah, so you're training instead." He said with a knowing look.

Barrett sneered back in annoyance when he could tell how predictable Nitro thought he was. "Yeah, why not! By tomorrow I'll be fully prepared to take anybody down." He stated.

"Even me?" He asked with a sly smirk.

"I'm not battling you." Barrett turned away.

Nitro shrugged at him. "Maybe… Not yet." He threw him a challenging smile and turned back and proceeded back towards the observation area. Barrett continued to look over his shoulder at him, thinking about what the answer would be.

*Heh, like he could match up to me.* He thought with a smile. He turned his head away and continued walking out of the stadium.

"Alright, it's time for some lunch." Nurse Joy said cheerfully with a smile. It was feeding time for all the patients recovering at the Pokémon centre.

A large orange dragon resting face down on the floor, lifted its head turned and to look at the nurse when she entered the room. She and her assistant Chansey set down bowls of Pokémon food for all the Pokémon in the room. A Jolteon, Makuhita, Tranquill and Nuzleaf gathered around to eat. They began to wolf the food down happily while the dragon hesitated. It continued to lay there and stare absentmindedly at the floor.

"Go on. Eat up." Nurse Joy encouraged with a smile. Dragonite looked back with a curious look for a moment before turning its gaze to the food bowl provided. Dragonite edged over to the bowl and ate its lunch without any further problems.

Joy looked at the dragon Pokémon with a look of concern. Shortly after Dragonite was brought here it hasn't been very, let's say focused, over these past few days. Often caught in a blank stare and a drifting mind.

"I wonder if there's anything else that's wrong." Nurse Joy said softly to herself in concern, only loud enough that Chansey heard.

"Chansey." It replied.

"Is Dragonite going to be okay?" Asked a small voice. Nurse Joy turned behind her to see the one asking was Lacy and her friends standing outside the doorway, the same children that were there when Dragonite was first found.

She turned around and bent down to address the children. "There's nothing to worry about. Dragonite's injuries have healed very well and it's going to be just fine." She assured them.

"Yay!" Cheered the girl happily.

"Can we go see Dragonite?" Asked one of the boys excitedly.

"Sorry, but the Pokémon are all eating now and it's best we don't interrupt. When they're done then we can go and say hi." Nurse Joy suggested with a wink.

"Okay." The boys said disappointed. Joy looked back with a sad smile, but grateful for their concern.

"Zweilous dragon pulse!"

The three kids drew their attention to the mounted TV on the wall in the lobby. A number of other people were sitting on chairs, couches or just leaning against the wall as they all watched the battles that were going on right now. The children and Joy walked over towards the commotion and looked up at the screen.

"Use lava plume!"

It showed the blast Pokémon with waves of fire coming out from around its body like a fire smog. The dragon pulse was enveloped inside it and exploded in the fire as smoke spread across the majority of the dirt battlefield. The camera then focused on one of the trainers as the kids recognised one of the people battling. He stood there confident, but focused as he tried to see through the smog.

"Hey that's Tyler!" Young Owen yelled in excitement.

"Yeah that's so cool. We get to see him battle." Lacy said happily.

The camera turned back to the centre of the field as it cleared up. Magmortor had charged into the smoke and emerged at Zweilous with a surprise fire punch. Tyler, quick to strike back, retaliated with a crunch attack. This unfortunately resulted in a burn for the dark dragon due to the effect of flame body.

"Looks like a really tough battle. I better get ready. Those Pokémon are going to need some medical attention once the battling is over." Nurse Joy said to herself before she returned to her centre duties. The kids stayed with wide eyes and big smiles while they continued to watch them battle.

"Use dragon rush!" Not backing down from the status condition Tyler and Zweilous fired back with a body tackle by the hostile Pokémon. After staggering back from that, another well placed dragon pulse took Magmortor out of the contest.

"Magmortor is unable to battle! Zweilous is the winner!" Announced the ref.

"Alright!" The three kids threw their arms in the air in excitement. They continued to watch and cheer for the rest of the battle. Even some of the adults that were hanging around the lobby where uttering some of their own cheers for the battle. Displaying that Pokémon battles are enjoyable for spectators of all ages.

Nurse Joy looked over smiled as she saw everyone enjoying themselves. She giggled to herself before turning her attention back to her tasks. She returned to the room where the Pokémon were finishing their lunch. Dragonite was already looking towards the door as she entered and she saw that his food bowl was empty. The nurse walked over to it and looked over its condition one last time.

"Well now it looks like you're one hundred percent healthy Dragonite." She informed. Dragonite smiled back, glad that it was finally better.

Now that Joy had given the A-Okay, the dragon Pokémon stood up from the floor and went with Joy as she walked it out. She brought Dragonite just outside the centre doors now that it was free to go. The kids had also pried themselves from the TV so that they could say goodbye.

"So Dragonite's okay to go?" One of them asked. The dragon had its back to the centre and the kids as it looked anxiously out into the open.

"Yes. Dragonite's all better now." Joy said to them. The kids seemed happy to hear this.

"So Dragonite can leave!"

"That's great Dragonite! You're okay!" The little girl said happily.

"It's all good that you're well now!" Said the third.

The dragon Pokémon spread its wings immediately as if it hadn't heard the congratulations of the three kids. With a jump and a flap of the wings it soared into the air and left the Pokémon centre in a hurry.

Nurse Joy and the kids stood there and watched as it flew out of sight. All except Joy surprised by how quickly Dragonite took off.

"Why'd Dragonite leave so fast?" Said the girl confused and slightly disappointed.

"Well Dragonite has been here for quite a while, and I'm sure it's egger to get back home." Joy answered.

"Where is that?" Asked a boy curious.

"I don't know, but it's where Dragonite belongs." Joy said looking back to where Dragonite was last seen. Staying within the city would be problematic for Dragonite. A powerful and rare Pokémon within a high concentration of strong trainers would be asking for trouble. Home would be the best place for Dragonite right now.

With that thought in her mind and knowing that Dragonite was once again okay, nurse Joy turned back inside the Pokémon centre to attend to other Pokémon who needed help.

The crowd inside the stadium cheered in excitement for the battles that were going on.

Toxicroak sludge bomb

The toxic mouth Pokémon spit out multiple globs of brown colored poison at its opponent.

Metagross psychic

The eyes of the psychic/steel type took on a faint glow while being harmlessly stuck by the sludge. The poison fighter writhed in agony as it took on severe damage due to the type match up. Once it was relieved from the psychic's grasp it collapsed to the ground in a heap.

"Toxicroak is unable to battle! Metagross wins, and the victory goes to Tyler of Blackthorn city!" the official raised his flag in the direction of Tyler. He immediately broke into a cheer of his own as he ran up to the steel type in congratulations and thanks for all its hard work.

"Way to go Metagross! That was awesome." Tyler said as he rubbed the white cross on his Pokémon. He was proud of the work all his Pokémon put in today. The scoreboard showed that Tyler had used Ninetails, Metagross, Lapras, Skarmory, Zweilous and Gardevoir, with only Lapras and Skarmory having been defeated.

"Wow, awesome!" Ash said in excitement.

"Yeah, not bad. Almost as good as if I was the one battling out there." Morrison said all confident.

"Yeah sure." Jamie said in amusement.

"Whatever. Compared to his last battles, this one was nothing special." Paul shrugged.

"Even so he won that battle quite decisively." Reggie said impressed.

"He is really good." Morrison said in all seriousness. Six to two was pretty commanding. At this point Ash's stomach started growling.

"I tell ya, some food would be pretty good too." Ash groaned holding his stomach. By now it was mid-afternoon and they hadn't had lunch. Paul paid no attention and Jamie rolled his eyes, but Reggie just shook his head smiling while Morrison agreed whole-heartedly.

"I'm right with you! We're past due. I say we grab Tyler and then grab some food, whadda you say?!" Said Morrison as he had Ash in a headlock.

"Sounds good." Ash said as he went off to find his victorious friend, with Morrison following.

"Ash, don't be gone long. You're battling today." Warned Reggie.

"It's okay! I'll be back before then." Ash waved back before he disappeared out of sight.

"Tch. He'd better be." Jamie scoffed.

Tyler was walking through the hall, completely satisfied with the outcome of his battle. He was going to drop by the Pokémon centre first thing so that his team could get some rest. This thought was interrupted by his own stomach.

*Oh yeah. I guess I haven't had any lunch yet.* He thought to himself. He had to stay because of when his battle was scheduled.

"Looks like we had the same idea." Ash said as he walked into the same hall and heard his stomach growling.

"What are you talking about?" Tyler looked at him with confusion. Morrison then appeared around the corner and put an arm over Ash's shoulders.

"Well we thought we'd go out and get a bite to eat, and it sounds like you're in, right?" Morrison asked with a thumbs up.

"Yeah sure." Tyler responded sheepishly. Now that the battle was over the hunger was hitting him hard. "Let's go."

As the battles raged on inside the stadium the three of them proceeded outside the stadium for lunch.

"So, got any preferences?" Tyler asked them."

"Yeah. Somewhere close by, cause I'm starving!" Ash groaned. They all laughed around with each other as they searched for somewhere to eat. A few jokes and some good food would calm the nerves from the tournament.

"Morrison you're not battling today right?" Tyler asked.

"Nope. I'm rocking on tomorrow, so after we eat I've got some training to do." He said enthusiastically and flexed his arms.

"Hey speaking of, congratulations on your victory. Sorry it took so long for me to get that out." Ash said sheepishly to Tyler.

"Thanks Ash. My Pokémon all worked really hard."

"Oh yeah?! Well just wait until my next battle. It'll be infinitely more awesome than yours was!" Morrison challenged.

"Well I look forward to that!" Tyler said playing along.

"Gaaaaaaaaaahh! What's that?!" Morrison gasped and pointed behind them. They both turned around just in time to see something crash into all of them, knocking them to the ground. After gathering their wits after the fall they looked up to see what the cause was.

"Huh?! What are you doing here?" Tyler asked in total surprise.
