Chapter 52
*One week later*
Nike's POV
I dropped a silver necklace over my head while running my hands through my hair. My fingernails were painted black, which was the first time I'd ever worn nail polish. I adjusted the straps of my jet-black dress. I'd never worn a dress before either, so I had no idea how this thing was supposed to work. Why do people wear these anyway?
I walked out of my bedroom once I was finished getting ready. My phone rang and I glanced at it. I'd gotten a text from Hannah/Dana. We still weren't sure what to call her. She seemed to be okay with either name.
From: What's-Her-Name
U ready? We're all waiting
I typed my response back to her without looking at the screen as I walked out the house and locked the doors.
To: What's-Her-Name
Yep. On my way now.
From: What's-Her-Name
U got the vid?
To: What's-Her-Name
Yeah. C u there
I shoved my phone into my bag and climbed up on Lightning Rider. It was so weird sitting in the saddle with a dress on, but whatever. I spurred my horse into a gallop and sped off.
"Hey Nike," Eric said grimly as I trotted into the graveyard. "You've got the-?"
I nodded and dismounted, quickly tying my horse's reins to the metal fence. "Yep. Let's go."
We were both completely silent as we passed the graves of other people and headed toward a large crowd of at least 200,000 people, maybe more. They filled practically half of the entire graveyard (and it was a big graveyard). We pushed through the throng of people and went straight for the others in front. Adam, Ty, and Jason sat in chairs next to a dais with a black resting on it. All three had tears in their eyes. Herobrine stood next to them, and The Pack on the other side of the dais. Eric and I walked over to Adam, Ty, Jason, and Herobrine and we stood next to them, looking out over the crowd of people. Dana (I'll just call her that cuz I'm used to it) sat in the front row, holding hands with Brice. She had a long black dress on with matching lipstick. Her blonde hair was pulled back in a braid. Harvey and Cal sat with her.
Everyone was talking quietly, but as soon as I raised my hand, they all fell silent. Eric stepped forward. "So, all of you came here today because you were either friends with, were subscribers for, or heard about SubZeroExtabyte's death." He nodded at me and I stood.
I reached into my bag and pulled out my laptop and the hard drive. "Those of you who were present to witness his death saw him give me this." I held up the drive. "We checked it out, and, well…" I shrugged. "You'll see for yourselves."
I raised my hand and cast a large, magic, golden projection screen in the air. One of those plug-in outlets appeared below the screen and I brought out a cord to connect my laptop to the screen. Eric took the drive and shoved it in the USB outlet, and after going through a bunch of files, I finally found the one Sub meant for us to see.
A picture of Sub filled the large gold screen, and words printed in lime green appeared under his image. "The Kids Aren't Alright" by Fall Out Boy started playing in the background, which made everything ten times sadder.
Hi guys.
If you people are watching this, it probably means I have likely died or just left for some unknown reason. Or maybe I'm just deciding to show you this because I'm tired of hiding. Whatever the case, you're seeing this, and I'm about to tell you everything (well, maybe not everything, but some of it).
Now I'm going to make this short so you all don't get too bored.
A lot of you have been curious as to the reason I can't talk. Some of you have come up with theories, like I got surgery on my vocal cords and it went wrong, or that I had some big secret and was just afraid to talk because I might say it out loud or something. But that's not it.
Now I know this is probably going to sound really off topic here, but how many of you have read all three books of The Hunger Games?
Everyone looked pretty confused, but some of the hard-core Hunger Games fans looked at each other and squealed.
Well, remember when Prim died and Katniss went completely for a long time? Sorry to all of you who were planning on reading it :)
Well, anyway, that same thing basically happened to me. Someone I knew and loved died, and it was like I was physically unable to talk. I don't want to talk about it; all I'm going to say is that the person was my sister, and she died when she messed up a poison potion. That's all I want to say.
Well, now you know.
Bye.
I waved my hand, and the image flickered out.
"Wow," Dana said as we all walked back to the city.
It was three hours after we'd shown everyone the video. Almost everyone had made a speech at the funeral, which took a long time. People were still talking about who Sub's sister might have been. We passed one girl who was whispering to her friend: "I think I saw a girl that looked like Sub a couple years ago. It was, like, totally his sister. Same black hair, green eyes, face, build, everything. How could it not be her?" We ignored them and kept going.
Herobrine sighed and looked at Wisty. "I'm sorry I wasn't there for Erin's funeral."
Wisty shrugged, but she sniffled. "It's fine. You were in the hospital, along with a lot of others. It's not like you could've gotten better just like that." She snapped her fingers.
I put an arm around the Wither skeleton. "You'll be fine. I'm sure there's someone else out there for you. And who knows? Maybe she even lives in the city."
Wisty smiled. "You're right." She looked up and saw something off to my right. "And speaking of couples-" She turned me around so I was facing the other way.
Harvey and Eric were walking towards me, their expressions hard and unreadable. They kept a fair amount of space between themselves, and they stopped in front of me.
"Nike, we need to talk," Eric declared.
"We need to get this whole thing sorted out." Harvey crossed his arms.
"What thing?" I asked, nervously fiddling with Lightning Rider's reins. I'd wanted to walk back with everyone to the city, so I hadn't bothered mounting my horse. But now, I was seriously regretting that decision. I really wanted to just get on my horse and get away as fast as I could. I knew what was coming.
"The whole thing with the three of us," Harvey said. "We don't know who you like. I mean, sure you and Eric kissed and there was nothing then, but you two have obviously regained your feelings for each other."
"We don't want to do this, but we have to." Eric looked down at his feet. "You have to choose, Nike."
I looked back and forth between them both. I felt like crying. I couldn't. I just couldn't. It was impossible. Eric was so sweet and funny, and Harvey was caring and I'd known him for longer. "Guys, I- I just-"
Eric glanced up at me, and I couldn't help but think about how similar his and Harvey's eyes looked. They were both the same shade of brown, a deep, dark, chocolate brown that made me want to melt into a puddle.
I looked at Harvey, then Eric.
I leaned forward and kissed-
Percy J: *runs at computer* WHOO! CLIFFHANGER TIME!

Will: Percy, you just clicked on Agario!
Percy J: Well, maybe you shouldn't put a dyslexic in charge of messing up a chapter in a book, then!
Hey! You guys!
Nico: Ow! Jason, you stepped on my foot!
Will: You'd better apologize, Grace.
Annabeth: *pushes everyone out of way* Step aside, idiots.
Jason G: Hey! You knocked my glasses off! I can't see!
Will: I told you to apologize.
Nico: *embarrassed* I'm fine, Will.
Jason G: Well, I'm sorry, okay?
