Killian
I pulled myself up and grabbed my coat. "I have to go."
Samantha placed her glass down and nodded slowly. "Back to your woman?"
I nodded. I put on my coat and smoothed the shoulder pads. Samantha slowly stood up and smoothed her hands on my shoulders. "I'm going to miss you, KJ. Will you miss me?"
I shrugged her hands off my shoulders. "Maybe..Goodnight, Samantha. I hope you live the rest of your life well." I slowly walked toward the door.
"This woman really changed you."
I stopped and grabbed the door knob. "I love her. Why wouldn't such a feeling change me?" I turned the knob.
"For the first time since the past five years, you never once asked about Sarah to me. Have you finally lost interest in my sister, KJ? After all this time, you finally decided to let her go?"
I frozed, my hand still on the door knob. "Yes." My eyes remained on the door only, my posture straight and ready to leave this place without turning back.
"She's no longer in England. She and Brandon moved to Scotland just two weeks ago. She recently sent me a post card and a picture of herself dressed in a ridiculous Scottish clothing...She's doing really well."
"Why are you telling me this?"
"Isn't this what you always wanted to hear? Sarah this. Sarah that. That's the only reason why you wanted me Killian. I just remind you of her, and nothing more than that...Did you actually think, the day Milah told me that you no longer want me will somehow shock me and make me burst into tears? For the first time, I felt happy to be free. Sure, I..I was the one who agreed to be one of your free time girls. But Killian, I only did it because it's the only choice for me to be close to you. I loved you. I still love you. My feelings are still the same since the day you took my sister away from the house, instead of me. I stayed at home, and later moved to a health center from depression for three years. Sarah never sent me any postcards or visits. When daddy brought her back, she didn't even once concern about me or felt any pity of what she did."
"Samantha."
"Let me finish...I never loved Sarah. I never forgave her. And you know why she sends me postcards, pictures, and emails? Its just a way for her to use me so I can transport all the information to you. She wants to hurt you Killian because she still loves you too. She made a mistake of letting you go. A big mistake. But now she wants to prove that she chose the right man, even though she knows very well her marriage was an undeniable mistake."
"Samantha. Stop. Its pointless for you to tell me this for I am leaving you for good...I can't say I'm sorry to use you as a way to get closer to Sarah. But then again, its hard to say something like that when you let me inside your life while knowing what I wanted...I should go." I turned the door knob and opened the door.
"Wait! Wait, KJ!..Wait, please."
I can hear her sniffle and shed a few tear drops. "I have to go Samantha. I'm sorry, but I can no longer be in your life."
"...I know. I know very well..But just..But just promise me we won't act like strangers in the outside world. Can we just be friends if we ever see each other again in the future?"
"What good would that do?"
"It's good enough for me. Please Killian. After everything we did and went through, I don't want to be tossed like a piece of an unwanted, useless toy. Please, don't throw away the memories that can only help me be closer to you."
I still did not look at her. No matter how much she wants me to. If I turn around, Samantha will never be able to let me go...I'm with Emma now. Moving on to someone like her requires hiding, cover. One by one everything about Killian Jones is going to hide. If Emma finds out about it, I'll be finished. I can't lose her, she's the love of my life.
"I can't promise you for sure...But alright."
I can feel her curve into a smile. She sighed. "Thank you, KJ. Thank you."
"Goodbye, Samantha." I stepped out of the room and finally shut the door behind me.
~ I went up the stairway. I looked down at my wrist watch to check the time. Its one in the morning. Emma could be awake. I silently went over to her room and peeked through the door. The light are off and Emma is lying on top of the sheets.
I walked in and picked up a spare blanket and covered it on top of Emma. I smoothed her hair and leaned closer to give her a kiss.
"You finally came." She whispered.
I smiled. "You were awake."
She turned over, her back behind me. "Go to bed, Killian. I need to sleep."
I playfully crawled on top of the bed and wrapped my arms around her. "Why? Is Miss Emma Swan now stubborn?"
"Killian. Please. I'm serious, get out of my room."
"Now Emma let your anger go for once."
She took my hands and yanked them off her. "Killian please. I'm really tired. You need you rest too. Okay?"
I slowly sat up. This is a little unlike her. Of course, her stubborn side is not an unfamiliar behavior, but she always gives instead of fight against it. "Um…Okay. Goodnight, then."
"Goodnight."
