Chapter 50: I Could've Foreseen

Ryan's POV~

I shot up in panic and pain as my skin sizzled and burned, I cried out and leapt back expecting to be in the sunlight. I frowned as I looked down at my wet clothes, as I looked up I jumped, I wasn't in the hospital anymore.

"Morning sunshine!" A stranger stood in front of me holding a now empty bucket.

"Was that…holy water?" I raised a brow as I looked at my scorched red and blotchy skin; he began to laugh before tossing the bucket to the side.

"What no" He snorted at my stupidity and crouched down to my level, his cold blue eyes staring into mine. "You really are new aren't you?" I gulped "Well, let's make this a little less confusing for you…"

I sat up properly to get a better look of my surroundings, I was stuck in a dark cell; chains, barrels and even some blood stains. The stranger could sense my uncertainty and almost fear. He stood back up and walked over to the small table, picking up a blood bag he tossed it towards me. I stared at it for a moment unsure what to do, but instinct soon kicked in and the contents was soon emptied.

"Let's start with introductions, I'm Damon Salvatore. And you are?"

"Ryan Barnes" I replied back and tossed the emptied back to the side to hold out my hand. He stared at me for a while with narrowed eyes. "Guess you're pissed for what I did to Jane" I ruffled my hair and rested my arms on my knees.

"Something like that" He tilted his head and pulled a chair beside me. "Luckily for you, she asked me to hide you away from her crazy boyfriend and family…including my dear and crazy friend"

"Aw, I'm a friend" We both shot our head towards the door where another guy stood, his green eyes shone in the light. "I like that privilege"

"James, before you blame me" Damon held out his hands and walked towards him. "Jane asked, so I did" James tilted his head.

"And why are you so concerned about Jane's welfare, shouldn't you be worrying about Elena?" Damon frowned before sighing. "He tried to kill Jane; I am not losing anymore family or loved ones"

"You must be Jane's brother…" Damon smirked and gave a glance at him.

"Really, now free from compulsion, he's not much of a threat" They both walked into the room slowly "And to answer your question…I consider Jane a…friend"

"Why so hesitant?"

"You think I like her?" He chuckled "It's hard for me to admit to having friends" Damon rolled his eyes making James smile.

James walked over to me; he gave cold and warning glares as he lifted me off my feet and into the wall. His eyes became dark and haunted.

"The only reason you are still alive is because of Jane, if you ever, touch her again. I will tear you limb from limb" He tightened his grip around my throat "Do we have an understanding" I struggled a nod before he chucked me to the ground. "Now, I'm going to see her. I'll keep this little secret from Kol, wouldn't want him ruining your shirt Damon"

"Ha-ha" Damon rolled his eyes as he left

"He must be quite a protective brother" I mumbled making him chuckle again "What?"

"He's her grandfather, and it's probably best you don't discuss it with anyone…It's a touchy subject" He leant into the table and began to lightly juggle a wooden stake. "Where were we?"

Jane's POV~

"I know you're alive, Jane Thomas"

I breathed heavily and panicked as I tried to locate him in the darkness that had engulfed me. My feet felt numb as I trudged through the unknown, I couldn't feel, I couldn't see and I couldn't hear anything but my struggling breaths.

My streaming tears froze on my cheeks and my shivering lips tried to scream out for Kol, but no sound came out from me. I stuttered my breath at the realization I was alone…

"You think that this is the end?"

I cried and began to run; his voice was around me echoing in my ears. I heard whispers throughout his words, I recognised them…those I loved.

"They will betray you Jane"

I covered my ears and screamed as he began to laugh at me, but nothing could mask his cold hateful voice.

"They will force you to lose yourself"

I looked down as my feet touched a cold puddle; I gasped and stumbled back as the darkness faded slightly. The hems of my white hospital gown were splattered in the blood that covered the floor and my toes.

My tired eyes tried to stay closed but they couldn't, looking up again I saw Kol right in front of me. The sight of him brought me peace and I leapt into his arms, he held me tightly and stroked my hair.

"Jane" He shouted in a panic, I pulled back but his face was still and calm. He lightly stroked my cheek and leant into kiss me but he shouted again. "JANE!" I frowned "JANE WAKE UP!" His lips didn't move I shivered and fell back, blood splattering all over me.

"I will see you very soon Jane" He lifted me up and ran his fingers across my jawline, my heart was pounding, but then I couldn't feel it anymore.

I tapped my chest and looked at my bloodied fingertips; I gasped and whimpered as I looked at my heart in his hand. His face began to change, his brown eyes I loved so much turned green and soon his whole face was different.

"Silas" He smiled wickedly before grasping hold of my head tightly before quickly snapping, my body fell down hard…

I bolted up screaming and shaking violently. My breaths were rapid as tears poured down my cheeks. Kol sat over me, his eyes filled with concern and fear as he held onto my cheek comfortingly. Meredith almost fell back with relief as my heart rate came back down to normal, she didn't hesitate using her stethoscope. She closed her eyes and smiled weakly at Kol.

"What happened?" I asked as my body still shook, the nightmare still fresh in my mind. Kol closed his eyes and pulled me into my arms tightly as if he would never let go again. I looked towards Meredith who held her clipboard tightly.

"You died" My eyes widened "For a moment your heart was racing and then stopped completely"

"Does that mean I'm a..." Meredith's eyes widened as she looked at Kol. "Oh my God"

"We don't know" Kol said quietly, I breathed heavily. He looked towards Meredith who sheepishly stepped forward holding out her wrist, he bit down on it and offered it to me.

"I feel nothing?" I said as I looked at him. "Shouldn't I be like...drawn to it?"

"Forgive me Jane" I frowned before he shoved her wrist to my lips, her blood going onto my lips and into my mouth. I coughed gagged and spat it out. I continued to cough and splutter until Kol passed me a glass of water, I quickly drank it. "Well at least we know you're not"

Kol rested his forehead against mine, I felt calmer than I did. He kissed my lips lightly and took my hand.

"Don't do that again" I mumbled as he sighed in relief, I pulled back with concerned eyes.

"Agreed" After a few minutes of being with Kol, I began to remember what had happened.

"He knows Kol" Kol frowned "Silas" I pressed my lips together as the images returned to my mind "He pretended to be you" I mumbled through scared tears "He ripped my heart out before snapping my neck" I cried again this time heavier

"Shhh, Shhh" He pulled my in again and stroked my hair "I will never let him hurt you"

Keep your arms exactly where they are, I want to be here, I want to feel you.

A/N~ Just to clarify the italics were a dream that Silas gave to Jane whilst she was in hospital. The bold before this were lyrics to Broken Record by Katy B. Cant believe I've reached 50 chapters with this story, feels like yesterday I began writing it! Thank you for all the support, I couldn't have written this without you all! Much love x
