When you're brought into this world
They say you're born in sin
Well at least they gave me something
I didn't have to steal or have to win
Well they tell me that I'm wanted
Yeah, I'm a wanted man
I'm a colt in your stable
I'm what Cain was to Abel
Mister catch me if you can - Blaze of Glory by Jon Bon Jovi
"Friend Raven is waking up," entered Raven's ears before she opened her eyes.
Blinking her eyes, Kory's face entered Raven's field of vision.
"Kory," said Nightwing, "give her some room."
Sitting up, she noticed everyone was wearing their uniforms and she still wore her dress.
"Where's Jake?"
"On life support," said Cyborg, "slowly recovering."
"Slowly recovering?"
"Not only did he get his arm ripped off, I found an entry and an exit wound of what looks like a sword stab through and a deep diagonal cut along his torso. It seems some kind resin is keeping him from bleeding out."
"What happened?" asked Raven.
"You and Jake were found on the shore of ruined Tower," said Nightwing, "Otomo was applying first aid when we arrived."
"A purple ninja threw a bomb. Then tackled me before I blacked out. Guess he injuried Jake."
"Actually that was Sin. Otomo's explained that side of the story."
Sliding off her bed, "Let's check on Jake."
Wincing as she went to check on Jake, she wondered who that purple ninja was.
Waking up to the familiar sounds of a breathing machine and a heart monitor, Jake hit the bottle hard. Pissed off didn't described his mood he was in. Sin kicked his ass. Sin. The pretty boy demon Trigon used to open a blood portal then sending Jake's soul as Jake closed it. He should've stayed there. Sitting up in a hospital bed with his right arm was gone, the whiskey didn't wash away his shame of getting his ass kicked. As for the Titans, he didn't know. If Raven was hurt, Sin was going to pay again. Jake, you didn't do Jake shit last time.
This wasn't the warehouse they used back when Raven was once held. Was the hunters are out skimming the streets for info.
The door slid opened. Raven rolled her eyes at the sight of Jake drinking his pain away. Moving her eyes to the stump of his right arm, she couldn't tell how much it healed because of the lit green resin.
She couldn't compare the loss of his arm to anything she knew. She knew it would return until then she wondered if she could achieve an organism with him just using one hand.
Downing another shot, "Why is everyone looking at me?" Jake asked pouring another shot.
"You're one of us," said Nightwing with his arms crossed, "And you're experience is needed."
Looking at him, he took his next shot letting the alcohol do its job then answered.
"One problem at a time, I got a bastard to hunt, and that's priority number one right now. Then priority number two is to make sure this army of his doesn't come here any destroy everything is this world. After that, then I can give you your answer."
Watching him with disgust on his face, Nightwing watched Jake down his shots.
"Before that?"
Giving him a look, "Till then, I'm going to finish my bottle, have a smoke, and then I'm going to hit the streets and kick every demon hard ass till I get the info I need."
"And till then, you're a Titan, so help now," said Nightwing adding an edge to his voice that would make Batman proud, "so what is you opinion on what we should do now?"
Silence.
"Friend slinger of guns, what has happened to your arm?" asked Starfire breaking the silence.
Sighing, he looked at the resin covered stump figuring this was Cyborg's work.
"It seems Sin decided to repay me for cutting his arm off," looking at Cyborg, "speaking of which where's my old arm?"
Nodding towards the work area. "Yeah it's on ice," replied Cyborg, "need to reattach it soon."
Nodding, "Cy, you can stay and help out, but I want everyone else to leave," looking them over, "Just trust me on this and don't come in whatever screams you hear," placing his left hand on Raven's right shoulder, "This includes you. You've seen me in enough pain."
"Actually I want to see more pain from you," Raven thought walking out of the room.
Giving them a moment to leave, they left allowing Cyborg to retrieve Jake's arm.
Brushing away the resin, "You know, the poison went through my system allowing this to heal before you showed up. Wonder who applied it?"
"Otomo must've applied it," he said holding Jake's arm.
Placing it on a end table, he pulled out a needle and some surgical thread.
Looking at him, "What the hell are you doing?"
Causing a confused look on the human half of Cyborg's face, "I'm going to sew your arm back on."
Chuckling, "No, you're just here to help me," shaking his head, "I've done this before," taking his arm, "I'll need you to hold my arm for a moment," placing it over the stump, "Hold it here, nothing more."
Gripping Jake's arm, "What are you planning?" he asked with a curious look in his human eye.
Smiling, "Just watch."
Biting down on a cloth he placed in his mouth, Jake unsheathed a single claw slicing open the stump. Letting blood flow onto the dead arm, he took the end of the stump placing it over the wound. The torn flesh began to piece itself back together. With Cyborg sitting there, his eye went wider by the second as the arm reattached itself to Jake's stump.
Motioning Cyborg to hold him down which Cyborg did, Jake readied himself for the pain. It started slowly then pick up speed. His healing factor reattached every single nerve in Jake's arm his nervous system, and it hurt like a mother. Screaming through the cloth, Jake started sweating. Five minutes later Jake stopped struggling.
Spitting out the cloth, "Done," breathed Jake.
Cyborg released Jake
Panting in the pain, "I hate doing that. You can let the others back in now."
Walking over to the door, "Ok to come back in."
The Titans minus Nightwing and Starfire entered the room.
"What was that all about?" asked Beast Boy.
Jake lifted up his blood soaked arm which quieted him down. Jake sat up causing the blood to rush from his head to his arm.
"Take it easy man, I'm sure that takes a lot out of you," remarked Cyborg.
Looking around, "We're on the Watchtower?"
"Yes and some of the hunters arrived," said Terra.
On the Observation Deck, Nightwing had his arms around Starfire staring at Earth or their uncertain future.
"Our home," said Starfire, "Where will we live?"
"I don't know Kory," said Nightwing, "I don't know."
