Engagement

"So will you marry me, Sakura?" Sasuke had asked that question six years and three children ago. And today they were finally, finally, getting married.

It wasn't for lack of trying though. Things had always come up, mostly babies and missions, and the wedding plan's had always been pushed aside. Until Sakura had purchased a wall planner calendar thrown a kunai and declared that they were now getting married on the 16th of July, and that nothing was going to stop them.

The next six months had been filled with plans, fabric samples (Sakura had flat-out refused to wear white) and petty arguments (mostly over napkin patterns, which Sasuke had incited for the pleasure of pissing off Ino).

And as Sakura walked towards him arm in arm with her father, pale pink (a compromise between Ino and Sakura) kimono rippling in the slight breeze, looking like the most beautiful creature on earth (when didn't she?) Sasuke knew that every second of that six-year wait, every argument, every trial and tribulation, had been worth it.

What? I'm not allowed to wright unconventional relationships? This has been my SasuSaku head cannon for a long time now.
