Demetri
As I flew, I glanced back at everyone, trying to gather a general feel for this mission. Everyone seemed at ease, though Chelsea did not seem very pleased that we chose to fly. I knew she understood that time was of the essence, but it was still interesting to me that she had these apprehensions. I looked forward again as I prepared to land the plane. I could tell there was a gathering of newborns around here; the Cullens had moved on. I wondered if Aro would want to meet with them to see if there was something they were not telling us. However, that is something to worry about later. Right now we needed to find this newborn.
I got up after the plane stopped and walked back, opening the door. "Are we all ready to go?"
Everyone nodded and Chelsea moved a little closer to Alec. She was protective of him, though I didn't feel the need to worry as some of the other members did when Chelsea was on a mission. I knew about what had happened in the past, but I trusted Chelsea. I walked off the plane, waiting for the rest to follow. I was ready to see what this newborn would be like.
"We should go now before it gets too late. Newborns tend to be more agitated as it gets later." I wanted to make sure the guards I brought understood the importance of being quick.
I glanced at everyone to make sure that they were ready before turning and jogging towards the newborns. When I was sure everyone was following, I sped up. Chelsea and Alec stayed close to me. The guards were behind us and Felix brought up the rear. As we got closer I slowed down, signaling the rest to do so as well.
"We need to take extreme precautions. We have limited information about the newborn we are hunting, as well as the army he is with. Hopefully he has turned some of the other newborns into humans to make the army a little smaller."
With this number of disorganized newborns, it was hard for me to figure out exactly how many there were. Perhaps 15, but possible 30. Nothing we couldn't handle, but not knowing means no real strategy. Hopefully the guards are good at thinking on their feet.
"Chelsea and Alec, if a fight starts, stay back with Felix. He will protect the both of you; do what you can but do not get to far ahead. You two are essential for getting the newborn we want back home."
I could tell Alec was happy with the order to stay back. While I felt he should have more training on fighting, I did understand why he was protected the way he was. His power was unique and very powerful. I knew Chelsea was not a strong fighter, but her power was very important; not something worth a risk, especially not this type of risk.
It was then I heard something up ahead. Slowly I walked forward and peered through the brush. There were a couple of newborns out walking around. One seemed very mature, while the other… He seemed almost deranged. He was speaking quickly and using words I didn't even want to think about; words for the unintelligent that cannot come up with any better words. The mature vampire seemed to actually be listening to the mad newborn; perhaps he was saying something important that I wasn't able to pick up on. I knew we needed to do something soon. The mature newborn would know what we want and possibly – with some persuasion – we could get him to lead us to this powerful newborn we need.
