"So, you're seriously saying you'd be better because you're taller?" Ianto Jones raised an eyebrow as he replied to Jack's ridiculous comment (according to him).
"Well yeah! I know it makes you taller anyway, but I just think it's an advantage." Jack remained defensive of himself.
"Is it really? I think personal quality matters more than how big you are." Ianto remarked harmlessly.
The two men were just exiting the Captain's office at lunchtime in the Torchwood Hub, chatting animatedly, utterly encompassed in each other's words. They'd been participating in conversation with one another for most of the day – in the morning they'd been discussing TV shows and favourite fictional characters (which Ianto was surprisingly passionate about, as opposed to Jack), then the hype had shifted to talk of politics. The last time the rest of the team had seen the boss and his teaboy, they had been having a heated debate about the health benefits of particular foods. Now, from what the other colleagues had heard about the current topic of discussion, it was getting rather personal.
After hearing Jack and Ianto's comments, Owen and Gwen glanced at each other with raised eyebrows, while Tosh blushed and remained fixated on her computer screen, determined not to get involved with sensitive matters.
Owen was naturally the first to add to what he considered a sexual topic, expressing his shock at Ianto speaking about a private matter so openly. "Er, don't you think you should keep that conversation to yourselves?"
"Why? Doesn't it interest you, exploring so much?" Ianto appeared to be genuinely confused.
"There's only a set amount you can explore mate, believe me." Owen muttered, equal parts cynical and suggestive.
"No, there's not – there's so much out there, and it's all so beautiful and exciting. I suppose there are dangers from other hostile sources, the kind of ones we face every day, but I'd take that chance." Ianto rambled on, his expression growing distant yet hopeful.
It was at this point when Gwen's brow furrowed in puzzlement, as did Owen's. "Hang on," Gwen interceded, attempting to confirm her suspicions. "I have a feeling you two are talking about completely different things – Ianto, what were you discussing with Jack?"
"Which of us would make a better astronaut, of course. Why, what did you think we were talking about?" He inquired innocently, frowning at Gwen and Owen since he was well aware of their unbelievably dirty minds.
"Well… I-I think, er, it doesn't… It doesn't really matter, does it? Aha…" Gwen stammered, not wanting to make Ianto feel uncomfortable, or come across as being nosy by showing she was pondering his and Jack's love life.
"We thought you were talking about sex." Owen stated blatantly, causing Gwen to yell 'Oi!' and smack him on the arm.
"Oh… I see." Was all Ianto could say. His cheeks also began to flush red; to avoid further embarrassment, he hastily made up an excuse to leave the room. "I'll, er, I'll go get coffee." The Welshman dashed off, leaving Gwen to glare at Owen while he smirked, and Jack simply grinned in the background.
