Chapter Fifty-Two
The three Laws of Fairy Tail
The first thing I became aware of after I opened my eyes was the feel of bright sunlight was burning upon me. I blinked in confusion as I glanced around myself noticing that I was inside a room. There was a breeze bursting from the opened window and I looked down upon myself seeing that my body was wrapped in bandages, probably taking care of my wounds…
"What…where am I?"
I slowly seated up looking around the room. It was a hotel room that much I could tell from the vibe of the entire place. There was a chair beside my bed along with some wrappers of snacks meaning someone had been there recently. I slowly get off the bed and made my way toward the open balcony which gave a nice view out toward a beautiful open beach.
I put a hand upon my head frowning lightly as the memories of the last thing I remember started to pour through…
I remembered Jellal…
Natsu…
Fighting against Mui…
Digging into the lacrima after Erza and taking the said girl in my arms…
"Eve,"
I turned toward the voice, finding the said girl behind me. She was dressed in a small purple dress and had bandages around her arms and body. She slowly approached where I was and I fully turned to meet her.
"Hey Erza," I greeted with a light smile.
To my surprise, tears appeared in her eyes and she crossed the room toward me and then threw her arms around my form. I stood frozen for a few seconds before I returned it.
"Don't you ever do that again," she said, "You hear me Eve…don't you ever…"
I simply returned the hug with a light smile.
"It was worth it," I said when I stepped back from her, "If it meant to keep you safe…I mean."
She looked at me. Erza was still a little taller than I am but for some reason, it feels like I was the taller one and I smiled at her and she shook her head before a smile of her own worked upon her lips.
"Where are the others?" I asked her.
"Well, you and Natsu has been asleep for the past three days," Erza answered.
"T…Three days?" I said shocked, "That`s how long I have been out?"
"Yes," she said, "Gajeel and Juvia are alright…a little banged up, thought at this rate we are all carrying our own wounds from that fight."
We stepped outside of the room and were now into the hallway walking together.
"It`s a miracle that no one died…,"
I glanced at her as she stopped walking.
"But…Eve, how did you survive?" she asked, "I was sure that you died…"
I let out a soft snort.
"You really think that something like that was going to keep me down?" I told her.
Erza glared at me and I can see the echo of that pain in her eyes. The same one she had when I lied dying in her arms and it causes me to backtrack a little.
"To tell you the truth…I did die," I told her, "But…"
Nova`s sad smile flashed in my mind…
"I had someone looking out for me," I continued, "and it`s thanks to that person that I managed to come back…but I was glad that I was able to return, after all, I wouldn't be able to pull your ass out of that lacrima."
She glanced at me for a few seconds.
"I thought that I was dead when I saw that golden glow," she said, "But it seems…we can`t let go of each other that easily."
I smiled.
"You said it."
We finally reached the lobby of the hotel, and there were few people around looking strangely at us probably from the many wounds we had but Erza barely gave them a second glance as we crossed the large room. I was wondering where she was leading me but I caught sight of Simon`s massive form in the distance.
He was wearing a blue shirt with dark pants. He didn`t have the turban around his head, letting his dark blue hair fall around his shoulder. He still had the eye patch upon his left eye but it gave him a mysterious and edgy look…
He was the first one who noticed us.
"Erza, Eve," he said standing up.
The group that was around him stood up and I noticed Wally and Milianna, both of them had a few wounds upon their bodies but they seem alright. Sho looked to be alright but he looked glad to see us approaching.
"Sister," he said running forward and taking us into a hug and I feel pain course through me.
"Ouch Sho," I said, "I`m still sore from my injuries."
Sho jumped backward.
"I`m sorry," he said.
I smiled.
"Don't be," I told him, glancing around at the group.
"Nice to see you on your feet Eve," Simon said with a smile upon his face, "Still can`t believe that all of that mess with the Tower is finally over."
"I`m glad that you are all finally free of it," I told him.
"She is right," Erza continued, "Maybe like this we can all finally move forward with our lives…but, I still want to apologize for turning my back to you all…"
Simon put a gentle hand upon her shoulder, drawing Erza`s attention toward him.
"You have nothing to apologize for Erza," he said.
"He is right," Wally said, "If anything we should be the one apologizing."
"Wally is right," Milianna said, a sad look upon her face, "We`re sorry Big sisters Eve and Erza."
"Don't worry about it guys," I said, "All of that is now water under the bridge okay?"
They looked surprised for a few seconds before smiles grew upon their faces in happiness. I glanced around searching for Mui but couldn`t find him anywhere.
"Say…where is Mui?" I asked.
"He left a few minutes ago," Simon said, "He said he wanted to be alone for a few."
I let out a soft sigh.
"I`ll go find him,"
The rest nodded at me and I made my way out of the building and into the large opening outside. The people were all conversing with each other and enjoying their days in the sun and I sensed for magic energy around us. Considering that most of those people weren't wizards, finding Mui was a piece of cake and I quickly made my way toward where he was.
The young man was standing alone inside a wooden gazebo. He had both of his hands into his pocket with his hair flying behind him. Now that I truly look at him, his hair had gotten quite long and he watched the sea in front of him.
"Knew you`d come eventually," he said, turning his gaze toward me.
"Well, can`t have you wondering off by yourself right now," I told him with a light smirk.
He chuckled before glancing toward the large body of water in front of him.
"You know…I kept thinking how I could simply go ahead with Jellal`s plan," he said, "How could I have been so blind to just follow what he said? How I allowed myself to be manipulated by him."
"But this is all behind you now," I told him.
"But it doesn't make up for what I have done," he said, slamming his fists upon the wooden railing in front of him, "It doesn`t make up for anything. How do you apologize for those atrocious things that have been done? What do you do? What do you say?"
I walked toward his turned back and took him in a hug and I feel the young man freeze at my touch.
"Eve…," he said.
"I wanted you to be free from the darkness," I told him, leaning my forehead against his broad back, "and I wouldn`t want you to throw yourself back into it. Now all that you have to do now is to find your path…just like I did."
Mui didn't move.
"Why?" he asked, "Why do you still care for me?"
"Mui…you are my brother," I told him, "We grew up in the same place…we faced the same fears…and I want you to experience true freedom…the one that had been kept from you all of these years."
I can feel his body shaking and I heard him choke upon a sob and I smiled lightly as I continue to hold him…I hold him until he had finished crying and then he turned to face me.
"Thank you," he whispered.
I put a hand upon his shoulder.
"If you ever need help," I told him, seriously, "I will always come for you…no matter how far away you are."
Mui nodded at me and took a deep breath as if to calm himself down.
"How about we join the others?" I asked him, "I haven't eaten anything for three days and I am sure Erza is going to have a large diner for all of us."
"Right…," he said, "Lead on."
When we returned to the hotel, Erza and the others had guided us back toward her room so that we could enjoy a large meal, and I couldn`t help but feel completely at ease as I observed my many friends seating together. Gajeel and Natsu were having a competition…by quickly emptying their plates saying, "There is no way you can beat me Salamander," and Natsu was like, "I can eat more than you tin can."
But eating that fast caused them to puke all over the floor to Lucy and Juvia`s disappointment and anger…but instead of being angry, I was laughing out loud along with Erza and heck even Mui had cracked a smile. Simon was talking to Gray about something and Happy was munching on a fish a light grin upon his face and watching them all with all their imperfections I wouldn`t have it any different…
Althought…
I looked up toward the star filled sky in front of me. I thought about Jellal. I was glad that I was able to make sure that no one had died but now he was probably god knows where right now..
I wish I could have helped you too Jellal, I thought.
I sighed softly and made my way out of the room thinking about Mui. The young man had left right after the dinner saying that he was going to find that freedom for himself and I knew that he would be fine after all, Mui was my brother. I looked up passing Natsu along with Lucy and the Dragon Slayer seemed happy.
"What`s going on?" I asked.
"Eve, come with us," Natsu said, taking hold of my arm and dragging me along with them, "Erza said to get ready to give our friends a Fairy Tail farewell on the beach."
I nodded at him and smiled.
"That sound likes something fun."
We quickly made our way down toward the beach, having conned Juvia and Gajeel to join us, and I could sense Erza magic presence and I lead the other two toward where she was and I caught sound of Sho`s voice talking. The group, sans Mui, was standing beside a large boat.
"…was the inside of that Tower," Sho was saying, "It`s where we grew up…and now we are adults and we don't know a single thing about the outside world. This is our chance to get out there and see it for ourselves, and for the first time we are free to do whatever we want. We want to follow our dreams just like everybody else, but it`s something that we`re going to have to do on our own."
He turned toward Erza.
"We want to know what it means to be free," he said a happy look upon his face.
"And I have to search for my little sister," Simon told her, "As much as I would like to stay with you…I want to find her, after all, she is family."
Erza stayed silent entire time listening to them and then, she raised her head.
"Well, I have complete faith in you," she said, "and I'll know that you`ll do fine out there. I`m not worried."
Then her body glowed as she started to Requip into armor and I was amazed by it considering it was the first time I was actually paying attention to her. The armor was white and blue with a long red furry cape flowing behind her. She had a headpiece with wings sticking out from above her ears and she was holding a pole which had a flag bearing the Fairy Tail emblem.
"However…they are three rules that any members who chose to leave the Fairy Tail guild have to follow," she announced.
Wally was surprised, "What do you mean leave? We`ve never even joined."
But Erza wasn`t listening to him, "One, you must never reveal any sensitive information about Fairy Tail to any outsider as for long as you live…Number Two, never contacts any clients you`ve work for while in the Guild for personal gain. Number three, although our paths must stray…promise to live the rest your lives to the fullest…that means, you must treat every day as if it were your last in this world… never forget your Fairy Tail friends...and treasure them for as long as you live…"
The group had tears in their eyes as they listened to her and even I was feeling a little teary eyed.
Then Erza raised the Flag she was holding.
"Let the Fairy Tail farewell begin now…,"
"Yes ma`am," we said.
At that time, Natsu shot out flames from his mouth aiming them straight toward the sky causing them to mimic fireworks as loud boom echoed in the air forming large designs. Lucy and Gray were using their magic energy to do the same as many different patterns appeared in the dark sky above us and even Juvia had a large wave of water dancing around them and I used my magic to cover the entire area in golden feathers and I manipulated them so that they formed a large glowing symbol of Fairy Tail in the sky.
"May all of your journeys…bring you endless joy," Erza said tears falling from her eyes, watching them sail away from where we were, "I know that I wish that we want to stay together forever but I know that I was only slowing you down, and I don't want that. After all these years you spend in that Tower, you deserve to finally be free."
"IT`s not like that Er-chan," Milianna cried.
"If we stayed with you…all we would have done is brought you the painful memories," Wally said.
Simon had a grin upon his face despite his tears along with Sho.
"But we have much more than painful memories," Erza told them, "Beside, what we went through, had made us stronger…it brought us closer. I will always hold on to those memories both of the good and the bad. I wish you the best of luck in your travels along with happiness after all, this isn`t goodbye, because I know that we will meet again."
"You bet," Simon yelled.
"We`ll see you again sister," Sho called, "And you too Eve."
"Goodbye guys," I yelled, "I hope that the path we`ve shown you will be filled with adventures."
They continue to wave at us until we couldn't see them again and I looked up toward the sky above us as the many fireworks boomed above us.
Are you seeing this Mui? I thought, This is my farewell to you…
I looked toward Erza who had requipped back into her original clothes and I approached toward her.
"Hey Erza,"
She turned toward me and I smiled at her.
"That offer to join Fairy Tail is still up?" I asked her.
Her eyes widened.
"You will?"
I nodded.
She gave me the biggest grin I ever seen on her face, and jumped toward me, giving me a hug, laughing out loud and I laughed along with her, because I know we will be walking back together toward Fairy Tail, and toward my new home.
Eve finally decide to join Fairy Tail...
