"Can you tell me more about magic?"

Hearing the strain in Dave's voice made me wince. Bellatrix had come down not that long ago to begin another torture session. There was no real reason behind it, she just came down for her own amusement. This time I wasn't the only target.

"What do you want to know?"

My arm was still broken–probably worse than before. She had fixed it before breaking it all over again. At this rate I'll get permanent damage to the nerves in my arm. I wanted to heal the both of us with the Elder wand, but the Death Eaters would definitely notice if we suddenly lost our injuries.

"Tell me more about that sport with the flying brooms." Dave adjusted his position and hissed. I wasn't the only one with a broken limb anymore. Bellatrix got a little wand-happy with the bone-breaking hex and cast one on his right calve.

"It's called Quidditch. You play it on a pitch bigger than a football field, and there are three hoops on either side of the pitch. Of course these are flying brooms so the hoops are way high up from the ground. Like sixty meters."

Dave's eyebrows rose at the height, "That doesn't sound very safe."

"Oh it's not," I agreed. "Now for scoring points the chasers have to get a ball called the quaffel, and throw it passed the keeper and into the hoops. There are two other types of balls used in the game. Ones a bludger that the beaters hit at the opposing team with a bat, and there's a golden ball called the snitch. Now the snitch is the most important piece of the game because it's worth one hundred and fifty points. It's also the smallest piece, so the seeker–the player who looks for the snitch–has to have good eyesight."

Dave nodded thoughtfully, "Sounds bloody confusing."

I sat in silence for a brief moment before laughing, "Well, I probably not the best person to ask about the game. I'm sure watching a game would make it easier to understand what's what."

He hummed, "Is there anything else you could tell me? How about the whole backstory on the name Hogwarts?"

His question had me laughing, "I don't know why it's named Hogwarts, but I can tell you what I know of its past." Dave nodded his head. "Alright so Hogwarts was built by four very powerful witches and wizards about a thousand years ago. Two witches names Rowena Ravenclaw and Helga Hufflepuff, then two wizards named Godric Gryffindor and Salazar Slytherin."

The names reminded me of the four portraits back in the castle, but they made Dave laugh, "Really? Those were their names?"

"The magical world does have some strange name patterns, but let's remember that this was a thousand years ago. Besides its just like how names in Africa might be different to you since you're British." Dave nodded and gestured for me to continue. "So they built Hogwarts and separated the students into four groups called houses," it was difficult for me to explain this. "They named the houses after their last names, so Ravenclaws are hawks, Hufflepuff's are badgers, Gryffindors are lions, and Slytherins are snakes."

Dave groaned, "You magic people are so weird."

"Hey!" I shouted in mock offense.

"Is there anything normal about your people?"

It was odd to hear the magical community being referred to as "my" people. "We live in homes…" my sentence tapered off at the raised eyebrow Dave was giving me. "Magical homes."

He groaned so loud I almost missed the sound of the door opening. As it was I heard the quiet squeak of the hinges and the echo of the door closing.

Dave and I waited with baited breath as the footsteps grew closer and closer. When Snape's face was revealed I sighed in relief, "Severus."

He nodded his head, "Danielle."

Hearing him say my first name surprised me. We usually kept to the last names, but we've talked to each other quite a bit this year during DADA since we sat next to each other. Now I said his name out of relief. "Did you give them my message?"

Severus sighed, "I did. You should know that Black is rather upset over your…kidnapping."

I squeezed my eyes shut and sighed, "Shit."

My response caused him to snort, "I would have figured you'd be happy about that."

"Why would I be happy that Sirius is worried?" silence was his response and I moved on, "Did they say anything?"

"I didn't wait around to hear if they did."

"Really?" Severus was unaffected by my reprimanding tone. "Fine just–can you get us out of here?"

His eyebrows rose, "Us?" His dark eyes glanced at Dave, "What makes you think I'm getting the both of you out of here?"

"Severus, I am not leaving him here!" I snapped.

"I am risking enough just trying to get you out!" He snapped back. "It would be impossible trying to get him out as well. Not only is his leg broken, but he's a muggle!"

Dave decided to break into the argument, "I'm a person just like you are, buddy." Severus sent him a glare that had him quieting back down.

"I can't even get you out," he returned his gaze to me. "How would I get the both of you?"

When Severus had come down to the dungeon the night before it had sent such a strong wave of relief throughout my entire body. He had learned of my imprisonment through Dumbledore, and later on when I woke up to Voldemort torturing me. He had waited until everybody was gone before coming down to talk with me. My relief had died a little when I learned he didn't know the spell to open the cell doors.

"We can cross that bridge when we get to it," I ignored Severus' snort. "What we can plan right now is what will happen after the door is opened."

"It depends on how many of the Dark Lords followers are in the manor. If there are few enough then we could probably walk right out the front door. If there are a lot well have to use a spell to make us unnoticeable. Something to cloak our smell too."

The word cloak sparked a memory, "I know something I can use to hide myself. Since nobody would be suspicious of you then only me and Dave would need to be hidden. James," Severus sneered heavily at his name, "has a cloak we can use. Ask him for it."

"I am not going to ask them for help–"

"Severus that cloak could be the key to getting us out of here without being seen! You aren't even going to be the one to use it. It's going to help me, alright?" He still looked like he would say no. "Please, Severus."

Severus growled in anger, and I knew I won, "Fine." He spun on his heel and strode away with his cloak billowing out behind him. "You owe me for this, Morrickson."

I leaned my head back against the stone wall and listened to the closing of the dungeon door, "More than you'll ever know, Severus."

Dave and I were once again left on our own. It wasn't so bad sine I knew there was someone down here with me. Had I been down here all alone I probably would have gone mad from it.

"So," Dave commented, "that Severus seems pretty cheerful."

I chuckled, "Yeah, that's the one and only Severus Snape. My boyfriends number one pranking target."

Dave scoffed incredulously, "Your boyfriend pranks that guy and he's still helping you?"

"I'd like to think he likes me more than Sirius."

Our conversation was interrupted by the sound of a door slamming open and then shut. Just from the noise alone we knew it wasn't going to be Severus. Every time he came in he stayed as quiet as possible.

We couldn't see the person approaching, but we could hear them. Their shoes weren't heels, so it wasn't Bellatrix. If that wasn't relief enough there seemed to be only one person coming.

With only one hand I pulled up the leg of my pants as quick as possible before unattached get the Elder wand. When I had it in my hand I dropped my pant leg and ticked the wand against my side. It was just in time for the guy to step in front of our cells with two trays.

He didn't say anything as he bent down to set the trays on the floor, but he did grunt for me to get out of the way of the door.

Without the use of both arms I had to awkwardly shuffle back with my legs. The man apparently noticed my minimal amount of movement and assumed it was because of how much I've been tortured. It made him feel confident enough to open my cell door and kick the tray of food inside.

The contents were just a simple bowl of chicken broth and a piece of bread, but to keep the cold soup from spilling all over me I had to drop the wand and reach across my body to stop it. It brought my hand closer to the door, mans in range for the man to spit on.

I heard a muttered "disgusting" before he started sliding the door closed. It made a spark of panic flare up inside of me, and I jerked forward to get my fingers between the wall and the bars. The result was my first and middle finger being slammed between the two had objects, and I had to bite down on my lips to keep from crying out in pain. I'd dealt with much worse in the passed three days.

I took a deep breath before looking up and seeing the man had gone over to open Dave's cell. He didn't even notice that I had used my hand to stop the door from being closed all the way, meaning it was no longer locked.

Scrambling back up I patted myself down to find the a Elder wand before seeing it laying on the ground. I grabbed it, ignoring the pain from my newly broken fingers, and aimed it at the mans back, "Stupefy!"

He didn't even have time to turn around before the red bolt of light collided with his shoulder. The man immediately slumped to the ground, unconscious.

Dave was staring at me with wide eyes and a gaping mouth, "How'd you do that?"

I raised the wand, "Magic."

Pushing myself up off the ground was a much harder task than I anticipated it to be. I had only tried standing up once, but standing resulted in my arm painfully dangling at my side.

Now I felt no hesitation in pointing the wand at my arm and using one of the many spells Madam Pomfrey taught me, "Brackium Emendo." I felt the pain of my bones fusing back together. It was a very painful feeling that I was glad to have finish quickly. A quick Ferula had white bandages wrapping around my arm to bind it.

Rushing out of my cell made my heart feel lighter than the entire time I'd been stuck down in the dungeons. Of course I had to go into Dave's cell, but it wasn't as stifling because I knew we would be getting out of here. "I don't know how to mend the bones in a leg yet," I cast Ferula again, "but I can bind it."

Moving over to his left side I threw his arm over my shoulder to give him support. We stood up at the same time and I finally realized that Dave was about a foot taller than I was.

"You're shorter than I thought."

I snorted, "I'm only seventeen, I'll grow more."

He hummed in surprise, "I thought you were older than that." I felt him shrug, "Either way I don't think you'll grow any more."

With a roll of my eyes I made the two of us stand still. We were in the middle of the hallway, finally out of those god forsaken cells, but there was no plan for this. The plan had involved Severus being here to guide us out since we had no idea where we were going. Not to mention we would be found in a heartbeat with how slow we'll have to walk.

"Expecto Patronum," Balto's blue form came bounding out of my wand. I cast the spell with the intent to send Severus a message, so he was already waiting in front of me. "Change of plans…"

Severus Snape was a very irritated boy. He didn't ask to become close acquaintances with Danielle Morrickson. Especially considering the fact that she was dating Sirius Black–one of the four banes of his existence.

To make matters worse the news of her kidnapping had him feeling worried for her. He felt amusement at Black's expense, but he couldn't enjoy it because of his of his own feelings on the matter. Then he watched as the Dark Lord crucioed her right in front of him and he knew the moment she was taken from the rom that he was going to do something very stupid. Something life threatening. Something oh so very Gryffindor.

If Lucius knew what Severus was doing he would be so ashamed.

Now as a consequence of helping Danielle (he was calling her by her first name now!) he had to bring messages to the Marauders of all people. Although for some reason they've been avoiding Pettigrew. It seems they've replaced him with Lily. All of the older Slytherins noticed their change in attitude towards the cowardly boy and found it interesting. Did they know he was a traitor?

Even if they didn't know, Severus did. He had to walk around the castle for hours before finally trying that disappearing room Danielle had brought him and Regulus to during winter break. Of course it was the last place he thought to look and all four of them were there.

Years of their pranking were what made him successfully dodge the spell thrown at him by Black, "Is this any way to greet your classmate?" The question was accompanied by the sneer that automatically came into his face when he saw the Marauders.

"What do you want, Snape?" Black spat, "And how did you find this place."

"Danielle revealed it to me this past break."

Black threw another spell, "Don't talk to her as if you're friends!"

"I'd like to think we're rather close if I'm risking my life to save hers." That silence the usually boisterous Marauder. "Now, I did not come here to speak with you," he turned his attention to the messy haired boy, "I came to ask you for something." Saying the words out loud was worse then saying them inside his head.

Potter's eyes narrowed suspiciously, "What?"

"To get Danielle out of Dark Lords manor I need your cloak."

There was an immediate reaction from everybody in the room. Mostly from the three boys while Lily just looked shocked. "How do you know about the cloak?!" Black was pointing his wand again.

Severus' eyes lingered on Lily before flicking from Black to Potter, "She said she could use it to get out without being seen."

Potter sneered, "I'm not giving you my cloak. For all I know this is some elaborate hoax for you to use it for yourself."

Gryffindors always managed to make Severus want to hex the life out of them, "I don't even know what the cloak is, let alone what it does!"

Lily spoke up and Severus' eyes automatically turned to stare at her, "James I think he's telling the truth."

Potter immediately relaxed at the sound of her voice and it sickened him to the core, "How do you know?"

"Think about the message he gave us yesterday," she paused to let them remember before continuing, "Now he wants to have the cloak he's never seen or heard of before. There's obviously somebody telling him to do these things, and Danielle is probably the one doing it."

Black growled, "I still don't like this."

Severus sneered right back, "You think I do? It's not my fault your girlfriend decided to be a hero and get herself taken away." He suddenly smirked, "Maybe if you were quicker none of this would be happening."

The comment had an immediate effect on the black haired Marauder. A flash of pain had gone through his eyes before his lip pulled back in an ugly snarl and he growled so deeply Severus thought it was the werewolf.

All of the tension in the room dissipated when a large silvery wolf blinded into the room. Severus heard Black choke, while the others were looking at the patronus with disbelieving eyes.

Severus didn't know what the big deal was until the wolf stopped in front of him and a familiar voice filtered out. "Change of plans, Severus," his eyebrows rose but he remained quiet, "the guy who came down with our dinner–" there was a scoff in the background and some murmuring that Severus knew to be the muggle boy while it confused everybody else, "–sorry not dinner. The guy came down to feed us their 'shitty excuse for soup', and he turned out to be rather incompetent. What I mean by that is–Dave and I are both out of our cells but don't know what to do. We need the cloak. Like right now. Not even right now we need it yesterday."

A males voice broke in, "Yesterday?"

They heard Danielle's voice come back, "Its just a phrase meaning we need that thing like right fucking now, Snape. Hurry up!" The wolf slowly dissolved away, leaving everybody in the room staring at the empty space it was once standing in.

"James," everybody looked at Lily, "you should give him the cloak."

Potter nodded and immediately strode to the door. The rest of the, quickly followed after him, but Severus made sure to stay some ways behind their group. He didn't want to know what would happen if one of his Slytherin classmates saw him right now. He supposed it didn't matter since he would get killed for his actions anyway. Nobody can protect him from the Dark Lords anger.

Severus waited outside the Gryffindor entrance while the three Marauders plus Lily filed inside. It was less than five minutes before they came back with an odd silvery cloak clutched in Potters hand. "Here," he held the cloak out stiffly. "You lose that and I'll make the last six years look like child's play."

If he hadn't been a Slytherin he would have shivered from the threat. As it was he only felt a chill go down his spine. "All I have to do is get it to Danielle. Whatever happens to it in her possession is not my fault."

The soft fabric was placed in Severus' waiting hands and he immediately turned to stride down the corridors to get to the passage all Death Eaters used to escape the castle when their Lord called them. He wanted to know what the big deal was about the cloak, but there was no time for that.

"Snape!"

He heard four pairs of feet running after him and he sighed gustily. Idiotic Gryffindors never knew when to keep their mouths shut and stay quiet!

"Not now, Black!"

A hand gripped his shoulder and spun him around, almost making him tumble down the stairs, "I'm coming with you."

Severus sneered in irritation, "Try not to be more stupid than you usually are."

"I'm not letting you go there alone–"

"It warms my heart to know that you care about me, Black," Snape continued down the stairs, "but I'm afraid what I'm doing is hard enough already. You wouldn't have a single clue on what to do or where to go. You would be a nuisance. Stay here while I go save your idiotic girlfriend."
