When the sky to the east, or from their perspective directly in front – since he had made a point of setting up their little nest on the eastern side of Silha for just this sort of occasion – the first thing that he did was to gently shake Kenji. When all his son did was to roll over onto his other side and cuddle up with Kaji again, Imakarum had to smile.

-Kenji-chan, don't you want to watch the sunrise with me?-

-Is it pretty?-

-Yes, it's very pretty,- he said, smiling gently at his son even as he helped the boy to his feet. -I've seen quite a few of them, but every one of them has had its own unique beauty.-

-Neat,- Kenji said, starting to sound more lucid.

He still sounded half-asleep, however, so Imakarum wrapped his arms around his son's upper-torso and let the boy lean on him. It was a bit of a challenge to get them both situated to watch the sunrise comfortably, since like Miaka, Kenji was four centimeters taller than he was, but in the end he managed.

As the sun rose, painting the sky with vivid pinks, yellows, and oranges, Imakarum smiled.

-Well, Kenji-chan, do you think it's pretty?-

-It's really pretty, Dad,- Kenji said, hugging his arms.

-It's always nice to show you these kinds of things,- he said, smiling. -You seem to enjoy the, so much. After this,- he paused, watching the way Kenji struggled to keep his eyes open. -And after you finish sleeping, do you think you'd want to visit Cora and the others at the lagoon?-

-Okay, Daddy.-

Kenji was all but asleep on his feet, and the sunrise was already over, so Imakarum tucked his son back into their little nest and wrapped the boy in his cape. Settling himself down next to him, Imakarum gently stroked Kenji's hair. These times alone with his son helped to relax him; they also made him all the more determined to see the two remaining Guyvers annihilated so that they would never be able to threaten Kenji or Lord Alkanphel ever again.

Lord Alkanphel and Kenji were equally important in Imakarum's eyes, but the fact remained that Kenji was far more vulnerable than Lord Alkanphel was. He was also more accessible; both of these facts combined to make his son's safety a great deal easier to monitor and ensure than his Lord's.
