Gossip that Jack had left because of family business quickly spread through the school hallways. His roommates easily picked up that whatever was bugging him over the past week had something to do with his little sister. Having spent enough time with Jack, and even with Cassie, they could state that his love for her was beyond anything else. Jack would go through hell and high waters for her without even blinking. As for the rest of the group, guessing that Jack's sibling was the family business didn't require much brain cells either. They didn't need anyone's confirmation to figure that Jack had been out of his game because of Cassie.

"How come he left without saying a single word to us, though?" Hiccup asked the rest of the group as they sat together for dinner the same day they heard about Jack's absence. Hiccup, in particular, felt betrayed by the lack of confidence demonstrated by his best friend. He used to think that he could be trusted, and that he Jack would have each other's back in any type of situation. And it stung that things didn't seem exactly that way.

"It's not a really easy subject to bring up," Hiro pointed out reasonably.

"Yeah, but…" Hiccup mumbled supporting his head with a hand. "We're his friends. We could've helped somehow… I don't know."

"Jack was lost about it himself," Andy said while he stirred the food on his plate. More than disappointed in Jack, he felt angry at himself for not having figured things out sooner. "How could he have reached out for us when he didn't know what to say?"

"Yeah." Wilbur leaned back in his chair resting an arm on the backrest. "He's the jerk who has all these ideas by himself and snaps his fingers expecting us to follow his lead," he mocked rolling his eyes. "He just assumes we know what he means… and we didn't this time."

A heavy silence fell upon the table as the boy's words sank in. Violet groaned letting her fork fall on her tray. She was done pretending to eat. She glared at the brunet guy sitting across from her. "Great. Way to make everyone feel guilty, asshole."

Wilbur recoiled. "I didn't mean to."

"Enough about that," Astrid said authoritarian. "What's done is done. There's no reason for us to dwell on it."

Another moment of silence followed as the teens tried to reach their own conclusions on the subject, but kept their thoughts to themselves. Then, Hiro asked, "Has anyone heard from him yet?"

"Andy and I texted him," Hiccup answered dejected.

"And?" the Asian American boy asked with apprehension.

Andy shrugged as he said, "Visualized, no reply."

Wilbur frowned. "That's… something, right?"

"If you wanna see it that way," Hiro added trying to sound positive, "he didn't ignore you entirely."

"What about you, Els?" Hiccup asked hopefully.

Elsa jumped slightly for being addressed in the conversation. She had kept her involvement in the matter a secret in order to avoid bringing up unnecessary questions about Jack's personal life. It wasn't her story to tell. "Nothing on my side, either," she said meeting Hiccup's eyes. She saw the as disappointment passed through his eyes and he tried to shake it. "I'm sorry."

He gave her a sympathetic smile. "Relax, Elsa. I'm sure Jack will be back before we realize."

"Yeah," Wilbur agreed. He smirked as he said, "He'll probably rent a limousine and make the band play on his arrival."

"And of course there will be fireworks," Hiro added to the mockery with a roll of eyes.

Violet smiled too. Smiling, even if it was a little forced, was better than sulking about something they had no control over. "He'll find a throne and will make the underclassmen carry him."

Wilbur folded his hands behind his neck lazily. "He'll break the main doors down like I'm back, bitches."

"And everything will go back to normal."

Looks like Frost is back

Violet had texted her earlier that morning, making Elsa anxious through the rest of the day. An entire week had gone by since she had last seen him. She had half expected him to show up for any of his classes, so she tried to mentally prepare herself for the encounter. But despite being in the Academy, it didn't look like Jack was in any hurry to go back to the normalcy of his school life...

A part of her wanted to take the first step and go after him. It'd be better than wait for him to jump around a corner and give her a heart attack. But at the same time, she didn't know how Jack would take all the intrusion. They hadn't talked at all since that night with the letter, and she wasn't sure where they stood with each other.

In the middle of her confusion, she ended up dragging herself to the rooftop and stopped in the front of the door surprised. There was a NO TRESPASSING sign taped to it. She frowned before remembering that she had filed the request with the Student Council to have that lock fixed. So many things had happened since then that she had completely forgotten about it…

The physical blockage however started messing with her emotions. The incapability of reaching out for Jack made her feel an even larger gap between them. Her negativity was overtaking her and making it hard to reason. Her mind was running with millions of thoughts at the same time, and it made her dizzy.

She struggled before reaching out for the doorknob. She wasn't sure whether she wanted to find him or not. Either way, she couldn't bring herself to do it. Letting the air out of her lungs slowly, she opened the door.

She felt her heart jumping on her chest as she saw him.

He was lying on his back with his arms over his eyes. He gave no sign of having heard her, and she debated for a moment if she should just turn around and leave him alone. "I didn't know if you would come," he interrupted her inner monologue, though he kept his eyes hidden and hadn't moved at all.

She kept her hand on the doorknob frozen in place. "I didn't know if you would want me to."

He slid his arm from his face to take a glimpse at her. His eyes looked tired. "I still don't know if I do."

Elsa bit her lower lip. "I can leave," she said looking down at the doorknob.

"No," he said sitting up. He leaned against the wall and bent one leg closer to his chest. "Stay."

She took his movements as a silent invitation for her to join him, so she went to sit—at a nice distance beside him. She placed her folded hands over her lap wondering if she should say anything. Her head was flooded with questions like how are you? Did everything go well with your sister? How is she? Why didn't you go to classes today? Am I bothering you? Are you okay? But she couldn't bring herself to ask any of them.

"Cassie is recovering well," Jack said with his eyes facing forward.

"Thank God," she sighed truly relieved. She raised her hands to her heart and breathed in deeply. The little girl's wellbeing was something that didn't leave her mind ever since she had received that letter. "I'm glad she's okay."

With the corner of his eyes, he watched her reaction curiously. "She loved the letter, by the way. It stayed on her nightstand all the time I was there."

She lowered her hands back to her lap. "I can keep writing her if she wants," Elsa replied with a gentle smile.

"I'll make sure to tell her that." He reached out for her hand, and she flinched slightly. He noticed, but kept holding her hand nonetheless. He kept looking at their hands together as he said, "I'm sorry."

She frowned looking down at their hands as well. "For what?"

He pulled himself off the wall to face her and stretched out his other hand. Keeping her hand in both of his, Jack brushed her knuckled with his thumb softly. His touch was so gentle, yet so overwhelming at the same time. "Being a jerk. Worrying you. Making you cry." He looked up at her. His eyes locked with hers and he tried to convey all his regret into his words. "Basically, being a jerk," he said giving her a shy smile.

Elsa returned the smile, although she still felt insecure of herself. With her free hand, she caressed the back of his neck and her fingers brushed the soft hair at the back of his head. He closed his eyes and leaned to her touch. "Apology accepted," she said in a low voice.

He leaned in so his forehead was touching hers. "Thank you."

"For what?" she asked for the second time as she closed her eyes.

"For understanding." His hand slid upwards tracing a light line from her wrists to her forearms. His breath mingled with hers from the proximity.

She felt chills wherever his fingers caressed her skin, and it made her unconsciously lean towards him. Her fingers kept moving in circles at the nape of his neck. "You don't have to thank me for that."

His smile widened a little. "Yeah, I do." He moved agonizingly slowly so his lips met hers very superficially. "Thank you."

She smiled throwing her arms around his neck and pulling him closer. He did the same with his arms around her waist. She took in his scent, his warmth, the rhythm of his heart beating steadily against hers. She didn't know how much she had missed him until that very moment. "Everybody is waiting to see you," Elsa said snuggling in the crook of his neck. He giggled and she felt the vibrations in his chest.

"Fans can't live without me, huh?" he said mockingly. "What about you? Missed me?" he asked in her ear.

Elsa snorted sliding her arms from his neck and pushing him gently. "I refuse to answer that."

He laughed stealing a quick kiss from her. "I should go," he said running a hand through his hair and preparing to get on his feet. "Lots of damage control to do."

She nodded staring at her hands. She bit her lower lip. "Of course."

Jack frowned looking at her. Was Elsa disappointed? "On a second thought, maybe it can wait." He leaned his back against the wall getting comfortable.

She stared at him confused. "Wait for what?"

Jack rolled his eyes. "Come here, Your Highness." He pulled her in his direction throwing an arm around her.

She adjusted herself resting her head against his shoulder. "I'm glad you're back," she said letting her hand on his bent knee.

He put his hand over hers and guided their intertwined hands to his chest. He pulled her closer and held her tightly. "Me too."

She moved so she could look at him. He held a curious question in his eyes. She bit her lip as she felt her cheeks heating up. "I love you," she said in a whisper.

His smile widened as he wrapped his arms around her neck and shielded them from the outside world. He kept his eyes locked with hers as he whispered back, "I love you."

"Vi!" Jack called from the stairs when he spotted the girl he had been meaning to find. He jumped the last few steps to catch up with her.

Violet stared as the silverhead made his way to where she stood with her hands on her hips. She had been wondering when she would see him. Surely, she hadn't expected him to come find her. "So the prodigal son has returned."

He stopped in front of her with his hands buried deep inside his pants pockets. "Can we talk?"

"I'm busy," she said turning on her heels to leave.

Jack grabbed her wrist and waited for her to look in his eyes. "I'll be quick, I promise."

She glared at him before conceding, "You have sixty seconds, Frost."

Jack nodded straightening up. He used wide hands gestures to communicate with her because of the time limit. "Look, I'm sorry for the way I talked to you." Jack's eyes kept locked with Violet's the entire time. His genuine eyes begged for forgiveness. "I had other things on my mind, and I just wanted to bash on anyone else. You just so happened to be the target."

She kept staring at him unamused, all the while tapping her feet as a countdown.

"I love you, Vi," Jack continued starting to feel nervous. "You are one of my best friends—fuck you're my best girl friend." He reached out to touch her shoulders, but the glare she sent him threw him off. He recoiled shoving his hands back inside his pockets. "And of course you're part of the team. You've earned your seat and you can keep it for as long as you want it… I'm sorry for saying that you didn't belong."

She waited in silence even after he had finished his speech. "You done?" she asked with an eyebrow arched.

Jack flinched. He knew she had the right to be mad at him. If he was in her shoes, he would be too. But he really hoped that she would forgive him. What he told her was the truth, and his life would have a huge void without that annoying pain-in-the-ass of a girl to fill it. "I guess so…" he mumbled unsure of what else he could say to change the girl's mind.

"Alright." Violet crossed her arms throwing her shoulders back. "Now if you don't mind, I have better things to do than watching you humiliate yourself in front of me." She narrowed her eyes and threw her hair over her shoulder. "Next time you talk to me like that, I'm kicking your butt so hard you won't be able to sit again." By the time she finished, she had the slightest of the smirks on her lips.

"Oh my God." Jack sighed taking a step back relieved. His hands went to his head as he tried to steady himself. "You scared the shit out of me, woman. For a moment I really thought you weren't gonna forgive me."

Violet let out a satisfied chuckle. "That makes us even."

Jack shook his head giving her a mischievous wink. "No. This does."

"Wh—" Before Violet could protest, he had jumped in her direction throwing his arms around her in a bear hug. She almost lost her balance, and she felt him tightening his hold on her. "Ew, get off of me."

"GROUP HUG!"

To the two teenager's surprise, they soon found themselves tangled in the middle of multiple limbs pressed together in an excuse of a hug. "STAY AWAY!" Violet tried to scream, but her voice was muffled by some's jacket covering her face. "I CAN'T BREATHE."

"What the hell?" Jack looked around to find that he had been tackled by his friends, and although it was the most uncomfortable hug in the history of hugs, he couldn't stop himself from grinning. "Okay, which one of you idiots touched my butt?"

"Welcome back, Frosty."

"So how's Cassie?" Hiccup asked as he and Jack sat side by side for dinner. It was a rare moment they had alone, since some of their friends were around most of the time they were together.

"She's great," Jack mumbled with his mouth full of food. "Been pestering me about when you guys are coming over again."

Hiccup laughed. "We can plan something together. I'm sure the others will like to see her again."

"Yeah…" Jack said absentmindedly.

The auburn-haired guy noticed his friend's change of attitude. "What's wrong?" he asked with a preoccupied frown.

Jack thought for a moment before saying, "There's something really weird going on."

"Meaning?"

"My little sister and my girlfriend became pen pals."

Hiccup couldn't avoid giggling. He had painted so many terrible scenarios inside his head that the actual truth amused him deeply. "What?"

Jack shrugged leaning back on his chair. "They're exchanging letters, and neither of them wants to tell me what they write about."

"That's adorable," Hiccup commented smiling sheepishly.

"Yeah, fucking adorable." The silverhead snorted with contempt. "You don't understand, Hiccup. It's killing me."

"Shouldn't you be happy that they're getting along?"

Jack frowned as he considered his best friend's words. "I guess it is kinda nice. But it still pisses me off."

Hiccup laughed patting Jack on the shoulder. "You'll get used to it, buddy."

Jack groaned before stabbing the food on his plate with his fork and resumed eating. Hiccup shook his head still laughed as his attention too went back to his meal.

Not long after, Violet approached their table. "Good evening, gentlemen," she said as she set her dinner tray opposite from the boys.

"Where's our esteemed former Student Council members?" Hiccup asked as the girl pulled a chair to sit.

"I saw Andy on the line just now." She pointed with her fork in the direction of the aforementioned boy. "As for Astrid and Elsa, they're probably still in the hospital," the girl replied casually.

"WHAT?" Jack and Hiccup shouted in unison making the brunette sitting across from them jump and spill her fork's content on her lap.

"Shit," Violet cursed as she grabbed her napkin and started cleaning herself. "What the fuck is wrong with you two?"

"Vi?" Hiccup started tapping his fingers on the table. "Explanation, please?"

"Relax." Violet sighed as she put the napkin back on the table. "It wasn't as bad as you two are probably imagining." She looked from one boy to the other and a smirk formed on her lips. Discretely, she reached inside her blazer pocket for her phone. "Although I must admit that your distraught faces are very cute."

Jack narrowed his eyes. "Violet," he warned.

"Smile for the camera!" Violet pulled out her phone and snatched a series of pictures from the boys.

"Violet!" Jack bumped his fist on the table glowering at the girl. "Put that thing down and start explaining."

"I told you to relax," she said going through the pictures to find the best one. "Geez."

"Vi?" Andy appeared behind the girl and pulled the chair beside hers. "Did Elsa text you?" he asked sitting down. "She said they'll be back soon and for you to take their things back to your room."

Violet put her phone back inside her pocket and nodded at the other boy. "Already did that."

"Davis?" Hiccup called nearly hyperventilating. "You know about this supposed hospital trip?"

Andy's eyes grew wide at the sight of his frantic friend. Hiccup looked like he was about to explode. "Yeah, I'm the one who called Tooth," he said calmly.

"Tooth?"

"What's Tooth got to do with anything?"

"She drove them to the hospital," Andy explained.

"What happened?" Jack asked trying to contain his nervousness.

"Astrid hurt her hand and Elsa went to accompany her." Andy shrugged taking a bite of his meal. "No big deal."

"Is she okay?" Hiccup asked, concern still clear in his voice.

"She broke two fingers, but that's all." Andy smiled at him reassuringly. "She has a cast on, so I assume she will not be very happy about that."

Violet rolled her eyes pointing her fork at Andy. "Andrew, you're taking all the fun out it."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Jack asked.

The girl wiggled her eyebrows leaning her chin on her folded hands. "Ask how she broke her hand."

Hiccup and Jack exchanged wary glances before looking at Andy for a heads-up.

"It is kinda amusing," Andy conceded sheepishly.

"I'll bite. "Jack arched an eyebrow. "How did Hofferson break her hand?"

Violet gave them a wicked grin before straightening up and starting, "So we were walking in the hallway minding our own business, right?" Hiccup and Jack nodded paying close attention to the story. "Then Snotlout and the Hooligans come our way."

"Those guys can be boisterous when they want," Andy said with contempt.

"Bam! Snotikins bumps into Elsa," Violet continues mysterious.

"He did what now?" Jack jumped off his chair narrowing his eyes trying to spot the stupid football team captain.

Andy rolled her eyes. "Sit down, Romeo."

"And Astrid goes all rage mode on him," Violet said.

"Elsa tried to stop her."

"But then Snotlout opens his mouth."

"I swear, only garbage comes out of his mouth."

"So he says that"—Violet did quotation marks with her fingers,—"if fragile little girls like Elsa and Astrid knew their places, they wouldn't have to worry about being injured by real men like himself."

"Astrid lost her shit right then and there."

"Totally justifiable, though," Violet commented.

"Agreed," Hiccup added.

Jack leaned on his chair balancing himself on its two back legs. "So she beat the crap out of Snotlout and broke her hand in the process?" he guessed.

Violet smirked at him and shook her head. "Nope."

"Elsa told her she couldn't hit any living being," Andy told them. "And Snotlout and his scum still qualified as that..." He looked at the girl beside him and gestured with his head for her to continue the story.

Violet leaned closer to the boys grinning. "…So Astrid hit the wall instead."

Hiccup chocked on his beverage and Jack had to grab onto the table not to flip his chair. "What?"

"A chunk of the wall came off," Violet stated. "I checked."

"She broke her hand…" Hiccup repeated to make things clear in his head, "punching the wall?"

"Yep."

"Then Snotlout went white as a sheet and he and his friends skedaddled just like that," Andy finished with a snap of his fingers.

"And Astrid stood there holding her bloodied hand, cursing and using very colorful, inappropriate language for the ears of innocent children." Violet smiled feeling a weird satisfaction in telling the story to others. "And we had heard this noise when she punched the wall, so Andy went to find a teacher."

Andy nodded in acknowledgement. The other boys, on the other hand, just stared at the storytellers in bewilderment.

"He came back with Tooth, who almost fainted when she saw Astrid," Violet said with a laugh. "So she, Elsa and Astrid left for the hospital."

"And we went after Snotlout so we could report to North."

"And this was a day in the adventurous life of Astrid Hofferson."

"Tell me Snotlout paid for it," was the first thing Hiccup said as soon as he recovered from the surprising tale he just had been told.

"He's out of the team," Andy announced. "And got a big red flag on his school record."

"That should lessen his chances of a scholarship," Hiccup mumbled.

"I sure hope it does," Astrid agreed as she stood in front of an empty seat on their table. She was having trouble holding her tray with only one good hand, and Andy soon stood up to help her out. Elsa greeted the other table occupants and set her tray on the seat across from Astrid's.

They had been so focused in the story that they didn't notice the two girls coming inside the refectory, picking their meals and heading to their table.

"Oh my God!" Hiccup's eyes went directly to his girlfriend's cast. "Are you okay?"

Astrid rolled her eyes as she sat. "Of course I'm okay."

"The cast is staying for at least four weeks," Elsa informed the rest of the group.

"Yo, I took this hilarious photo I gotta show you later," Violet said pointing at the two other girls. "Mark my words: you will not regret it."

"Okay…" Elsa replied not paying much attention to the brunette as she watched Astrid struggling to cut her steak. The rest of the table was also watching the blonde having a hard time with her meal.

Andy, feeling empathetic, tried to aid her. "Need some help with that?" he asked gently.

"I'm fine," grumbled annoyed, and the fork fell from her casted hand.

"Astrid?" Andy tried once more.

Astrid huffed. "Can you help me with the knife?" she asked through gritted teeth.

"Of course." Andy took her knife and fork and cut a few pieces of food. He gave back the utensils for the girl so she could eat a little. As the girl ate, he looked at the other side of the table. "Hiccup?" he called getting the auburn-haired guy's attention. "Would you switch places with me?"

Astrid glared at him with a half-chewed piece of meat in her mouth. "Are you kidding me?"

Hiccup shrugged. "Yeah, sure." He stood up with the rest of his food and went to sit on Andy's seat, as the latter did the same and sat on the other side of the table.

Jack and Violet exchanged knowing looks. They beamed together as they watched Hiccup setting himself on the seat beside his girlfriend. "Awww."

"Knock it off." Astrid glared at the pair. "I still have one good hand and I'm not afraid to use it."

The duo giggled together, but said nothing else.

Hiccup cleaned the cutlery on his napkin and proceeded to cutting his girlfriend's meal into bite pieces. "So you broke your hand?" he asked casually.

"No, I just like wearing a cast for no reason." Astrid rolled her eyes. "Who needs hand mobility anyway?"

Hiccup raised his eyes to look at her. "You broke your fucking hand?"

"Yes, Hiccup." She sighed tiredly. "Get over it."

"I'm sorry, it's just hard to take in," Hiccup grumbled returning to his cutting task. "You know, that you broke your hand punching a fucking wall!"

Astrid shrugged putting a piece of broccoli in her mouth. "You weren't there to be punched," she said with her mouthful.

Hiccup's hands froze immediately. He locked eyes with her with a smirk on his face. "Okay, that's kind of a weird thing to say, and I probably should be scared of it, but you sounded so adorable that I feel like kissing you."

"Oh my God!" Jack groaned facepalming unable to keep quiet any longer. "Get a fucking room."

Isn't it funny that Elsa spent so long trying to figure Jack out, and in the end she was the only one (with a little bit of help) who could understand him?

Because I'm an idiot, I started outlining my next Disney/Dreamworks story. Even though I intended to stay away from multi-chaps for a while... I'm kinda overwhelmed by how long it took to finish this. And W2LA was a story that started as a joke, with a crackship and a silly boarding school AU setting. I had a lot of fun writing so many characters at the same time, and I'm planning on developing even more on this next story. Which will be a huge pain. So yeah, don't expect this story to be out soon. I still have a lot of plots and roles to figure out-and a lot of actual writing to do.

FOUR FUCKING CHAPTERS LEFT.
