Olivia had finally managed to get Scarlett and herself out of the house with everything they needed. She gave Scarlett a backpack and told her to fill it with whatever she wanted, the little girl had immediately ran to the stack of books next to her bed. The sight made Olivia smile as she reminded her to be ready in fifteen minutes.
Fitz was gathering the last of his clothes, as he stuck them into a duffle bag. He was wearing jeans that seemed to fit him perfectly, not too tight, but tight enough that she could see the outline of his ass and the bulge in the front of his pants as her friend pressed against the zipper. He was wearing one of his navy t-shirts with a dark gray jacket over it. She subconsciously licked her lips watching him, but he caught her and gave her proud smirk. He had been watching her too. She was wearing leggings with a big comfy looking cream sweater over it. The collar was low enough to give him a view of her long neck as her hair was up in a high ponytail.
"We are leaving soon, what, uhm, what do you want me to tell Cyrus?" She asked awkwardly.
"The truth, there's nothing to hide, you me and Scarlett didn't make any mistakes and I'm not going to cover up the truth for the dead." He said a little defensively.
"Oh God that's not what I meant, I just didn't know if you wanted to tell him yourself. I could just say it's your story to tell or something."
"Sorry Livvie I didn't, I just, this is harder than it needs to be, all because of adults made selfish choices eight years ago."
"I know Bee, Im sorry." She went into his open arms and laid her head against his chest. "I love you." She looked up and told him.
He brought his face down and lightly pressed his lips to her while his hand moved up to cup her neck, holding her from backing away or deepening the kiss further. She was content to stand there and allow his to press feather light kisses that started at her mouth and moved up her face then back down her neck.
"Liv?" They heard Scarlett's little voice from down the hall, they pulled away both grateful she didn't walk into the bedroom given that their door was wide open.
"In here Sweetie." Olivia replied from the safety of Fitz's arms.
"I'm ready." She told her and after giving Fitz a hug she was standing by the door, excited to go see the college campus. After a quick kiss for Fitz, Olivia was following after her laughing at her excitement. Olivia was happily following her out the door before Fitz stopped her. Smirking she turned around expecting him to ask for a kiss, instead he was pointing at the oversized dog taking over the couch.
"We can't leave him alone, there won't be anything left when we get back."
"Just leave him with Huck."
"What?" Fitz asked, as far as he knew she hadn't spoken to her family, not any of them. Olivia simply opened the door and sure enough Huck was leaning against the opposite wall with two cups of coffee and a naked juice.
"Your coffee is cold." He said without ceremony.
"I don't drink coffee." She told him handing off the juice to Scarlett who turned her nose up at the unfamiliar drink. Olivia let it go knowing that now wasn't the time to sit the girl down and tell her that she would have to expand her taste buds, which as far as Olivia could tell only wanted cereal.
Fitz took the coffee from him with a half smiling, wanting to be on Olivia's side without alienating her family, however he grimaced when he tasted the ice cold black coffee.
"How long have you been there?" Fitz asked surprised Huck was there and that Olivia knew. He glanced at Scarlett not wanting to tell them that he's been there all night and only left a few hours ago to grab coffee.
"A while." He answered evasively, prompting Olivia to roll her eyes.
"Come on Little bit, we don't want to be late." Olivia said grabbing Scarlett's hand.
"Hold on Liv, you forgot something in the room." Fitz told her heading back, leaving Olivia without much of a choice but to follow.
"I know you're mad, but making him stay outside all night, Livvie that's not you."
"I didn't know he was out there." Olivia replied defensively. Fitz gave her a look that clearly said, 'I know you don't bullshit me.'
"I didn't know he was out there, but I knew he wouldn't leave me unprotected. I assume Claudia tried to give you a gun, which you refused knowing I would lose it correct?" Fitz nodded. "He knows I'm disappointed in him and Claudia and furious with Michael and scared for all of us, but he wouldn't leave me unprotected, not twice." Fitz ignored her last comment knowing there was a story there, but he also knew she wouldn't tell him unless he she had to.
"Next time, we invite him in." Fitz told her firmly.
"He deserved it." Olivia said grumpily, reminding him of a child. In retaliation he kissed her nose, making her grumpier as she swatted him away.
"Go kick your finals ass, because when you get done we can go out in the middle of the quad and hold hands, or better yet make out against a tree. I'm going to get you a jersey with my name on it so everyone knows your mine." He said grinning as he came up with the idea.
"I'll have to think about that last one, maybe if you get a Pope one for yourself."
"I can deal with that." Fitz kissed her once again, this time a real kiss that touched her lips but reached her down to her toes. As she turned away he gave her a quick swat on the butt and a huge grin.
"I'll be able to do that in public too!" He told her as she walked away laughing.
"Better not!" She warned him, "Can you stay in here and make sure Boo doesn't eat my couch." Olivia phrased it as a question but her face and tone made it clear refusing her would mean there would be hell to pay. Huck kind of stared at her a little shocked at his baby cousin.
"Can you handle that?" She asked with a bite.
"Yes, Olivia I can handle that." Huck replied formerly, exchanging a look with Fitz that thankfully Olivia missed.
"Okay Scar hopefully this time Fitz lets us leave, otherwise Cy is going to kill me." Scarlett got up from her place next to Boo and Zorro and immediately took Olivia's hand and headed out.
"I'm sorry man I didn't realize you were out there, otherwise I would have tried to convince her to let you in."
"No, its fine I understand. We need to stop treating her like Little Olly Pope. She's a grown woman now, and she has a lot to lose here. She's made a life here and we need to respect that, Michael needs to respect that. Admittedly I've been allowing Michael to run the show, because that's what's supposed to happen, but he's making the wrong calls and its my job to reign him in, not Olivia's. I haven't been doing my job."
Fitz wasn't really sure what to say, he didn't feel like it was appropriate to agree, but he certainly didn't disagree.
"Your family, next time you come in, even if Livvie makes you sleep with Boo on the couch." Fitz half joked, knowing that it was something Olivia would do.
