"I may dislike coffee but a true elegant female learns to like what her intended beau likes unless she has a life threating allergic reaction to it." Tanya replied.

"That last part is the only thing I agree with." I replied. "I'd love to stay and chat but I have a long list of chores to get done."

"Yes well mother does usually give the staff a week off every year and this week just happens to be it and she can't do the chores herself." Tanya said. "It's not right for a lady of her stature."

"Your sister's mother-in-law does most of the house work herself and only hires extra help around the holidays."

"And that woman is stupid just like my sister." Tanya said. "You are supposed to marry richer so you never have to work."

"Some people don't mind a hard day's work. Hell look at Prince William and Prince Harry. They have more money that most people know what to do with and they both served in the armed forces."

"That was just a show."

"Never mind I could argue all day but I have better things to do."

"Get to work Cinderella."

"Tanya honey come along dear we have got to get shopping for your ball gown."

"Oh, yes I do have to be the best dressed at the ball."

I rolled my eyes as the two women walked out the front door. I looked at my list of chores before deciding on Tanya's room as the first thing to do since I knew it would take the longest and that Tanya would only add to it once they returned home with ten more dresses more than she needed.

I stopped outside of Tanya's door I took a deep breath and then threw the double doors open. I was horrified. Once again Tanya had clothing all over the place. Strewn about the floor among the clothing were newspapers, magazines, and plates of food that were partially eaten. I could see why someone would refuse to come in here to clean.

I grabbed a trash bag and went about picking up all of the food. Once that was done I threw it away and picked up all the clothing and threw it in the laundry chute. I would sort them out for dry-cleaning later. I kept Tanya's collection of fashion magazines and stacked them neatly on the desk she had placed in the corner of her room. I then dusted everything and made her bed with fresh sheets and reorganized her closet.

I was just about finished when the phone rang. I rushed to answer it but the machine kicked in before I could reach it.

"Isabella this is Mrs. Dunn. Tanya and I will not be home tonight we've decided to stay in the city tonight but I expect you to keep working on that list I gave you. I don't know what Mr. Dunn has planned tonight."

I again rolled my eyes and continued on my work with Tanya's room by sorting through the clothes I had sent down the laundry chute earlier. I ended up with a large pile that had to be dry cleaned and a few that were machine washable. I called their local dry cleaning place and asked them to pick it up. They arrived an hour later.

Once I was finished with the laundry and everything else in Tanya's room it was well into the night and I just decided to go to bed. I sent an email off to my dad and just climbed into bed. I was out the moment my head hit the pillow.

I woke up the next morning just as tired as I was when I went to bed. I went about my morning routine and mentally went over my list that Tanya and Mrs. Dunn left for me. I wasn't sure what to start on next. I guess I was doing the whole catch a tiger by his toe thing in my head. By the time I was done getting ready for the day I had settled on cleaning and organizing all the bathrooms in the home. I started with Tanya's on-suite as it was partially started yesterday when I did Tanya's closet and bed areas. Tanya's bathroom had surprisingly been much cleaner than her bedroom and closet had been.

I was in the middle of cleaning the third bathroom when I received a dreaded phone call from Mrs. Dunn telling me to add the garage to my list of chores to do. I rolled my eyes I wasn't surprised that she would add more. I worked quicker at getting the bathrooms clean at least. It didn't take me long to get them done once I forgot about organizing them. After the bathrooms were all finished I went about dusting and vacuuming all of the rooms in the house including Tanya's even though I had done it the day before. That took me no time at all to get all of the rooms shining like Mrs. Dunn would want them to.

"Edward your father and I need you to meet us for dinner tonight."

"Why?" I asked. "I have classes to study for."

"Because we have someone that wants to talk to you but doesn't want his family to find out."

"Fine mum. I'll meet with them but I won't promise anything." I replied. "Where am I to meet you for dinner?"

"The Dancing Swan." She replied. "I heard about it from Cynthia and Elaine."

"Will they be there because you know those two fight like cats and dogs when they get together."

"Yes they do but it's not either of them. This man was close to your father before he got married a second time."

"What happen?"

"The new wife hated your father for some reason. I never learned why."

"Thanks Mum. I'll meet you there but I may run late. I have another meeting with my advisor."

"Just let me know."

"I will."

I hung up the phone and leaned back in my chair. I didn't mind dinner with my parents but I was nervous about it. I had no idea who was joining us and it made me nervous since more often than not 'old friends' of my parents came out of the wood work to try and get their daughter married off to me. I couldn't stand most of them but the few I could were already involved with someone else and had no interest into me.

I got to my meeting with my advisor with a little time to spare. He was still in a meeting with another student. I waited for about fifteen minutes before he followed them out.

"Come on in Edward."

He sat down behind his desk and I sat in one of the chairs in front of his desk. I said nothing and waited for him to say something. I figured he would try and get me to quit medical school again but I wanted to be a doctor and I would continue to try and become one even if I had to find another medical school to go to.

"I have to say Edward I am surprised to see you here." He said. "You weren't doing so good this time last year but you did have more familial duties thrust upon you suddenly."

"Yes I did but I managed to keep up with the classes." I replied. "I and I plan to continue even if I have to find another school to attend."

"You won't have to do that Edward. You passed all of your finals with flying colors and I hope you continue to do so come august when classes begin again."

"Thank you, sir." I replied. "Is there anything else you need or can I go meet my parents for dinner now?"

"No that's all I needed." He responded.

I left my advisors office in a much happier mood that when I had entered it. I slipped into the back seat of my car deciding to use a driver today because I knew I would busy.

"Where to Mr. Cullen?"

"The Dancing Swan. You may go home to eat but prepare for my text that I want to return home."

"Will do sir."

I almost drifted off during the fifteen-minute drive to the Dancing Swan. Something about watching all the buildings new and old passed by that relaxed me.

"Mr. Cullen we have arrived."

"Thank you Brant."

I exited the car and slipped on my suit jacket and buttoned it up tight before going into the restaurant. A hostess was standing not too far from the door stopped me before I could join my parents.

"How may I help you?"

"I'm here to join my parents for dinner."

"Oh we are quiet full tonight maybe they are already here? What's their name?"

"Their name is Cullen."

"Oh they are at table thirteen."

The woman then showed me to the table.

"Edward you made it."

"I did and I'm good. Everything went great with my advisor."

"That's so good. I'm so proud of you baby."

"Thank you, mum." I said I noticed that it was only the two of them. "Where's your dining companion?"

"They are in the restroom." She said with a strange look.

"Mum what is going on."

"Keep in mind Edward that we didn't invite them. We only invited the one but the other two they swooped in like a hawk on a snake and invited themselves. We had no idea that they were even in town."

"Edward you made it." The voice I did not what to hear said.

"Mrs. and Mr. Dunn. How are you?" I asked putting on a face.

"We are doing just fine." Mrs. Dunn said as she ran her hand along Mr. Dunn's arm. He looked like the snake caught by the Hawk. "Tanya just couldn't stop taking about you after your little run in at the store. She just went on and on about how sweet you were and how she couldn't wait to see you again. Oh here she comes now."

"Eddie I didn't know you were going to be here." She threw her arms around my neck before I could even protest and pushed her lips to my cheek.

"Tanya please do not do that again. I am not your boyfriend so it would not be a good idea to do that."

"But we connected at the store. That article said so."

"I went to several stores that day and talked with several girls. It could have been any one of you but I do know that it was not you."

"But…"

"Tanya stop the young man has already turned you down now leave him alone or I will be sending you away."

"Martian!" Mrs. Dunn exclaimed. "How…"

"How dare I…" Mr. Dunn started. "I am the head of this family. And Tanya was a well behaved little girl until you got a hold of her. You've turned her in to a spoiled rotten brat she was not the daughter we agreed to raise."

"Martian, why don't you and Lilith take this to a more privet setting. You don't want everything to be over heard and appear in the papers tomorrow. We'll have dinner another time clearly your family is a more important matter for you at the moment." My mum said standing up from the table.

"You are quite right about that Esme. I'm sorry I ruined dinner."

"You did nothing. All children go through a phase like this most happen when they are two years old or enter their teen year but for a tiny few it happens in their twenties."

"Thank you. Tanya, Lilith go to the car I will follow you out shortly."

I watched as the two women walked out of the restaurant rather dejectedly. Martian Dunn stayed behind and spoke with my parents for a few minutes. I had no idea what was being said but honestly it was between the three of them. Once he was done Martian said goodbye and the quickly followed his wife and daughter out the door.

"What's going on with them?" I asked once Martian was gone.

"They are having marriage troubles. Lilith refuses to believe that they are in trouble and Martian is near or at the end of his rope with her and Tanya and their spending habits."

"He also suspects Lilith is having an affair with someone." Dad injected. "He has no proof of that yet. I gave him the privet investigator your mother used to look into her ex."

"You hired a privet investigator?"

"You know those weird letters we got two years ago. We thought it was him but the privet investigator found that it was only the jealous harpy your father worked with."

"I remember that I was working as an orderly didn't she get arrested for stealing narcotics from the patient's to feed her drug and gambling habit?"

"Yes and she is now doing eight to ten in a women's penitentiary." He replied.

"Enough talk about that. I want to know about the girl that has captured our son's attention."

"There's not much to tell. She's a couple of years younger than me. On her first trip away from home. She has deep brown hair with eyes to match."

The night pretty much went on like that. My mother asking questions and me replying every now and then dad would throw in a question of his own. It was a good night. Once it was getting close to eleven I said my goodbyes and headed home.

I couldn't believe how my father was acting about money. We had more than enough of it. Who cared if we bought a new dress every day.

"Daddy." I said using my old puppy dog eye look on him.

"That won't work this time Tanya." He replied. "You need to learn how to take care of yourself. Your mother and I won't always be here to take care of you and spending like you do isn't good. Your trust fund is almost gone."

"So you have more money."

"No I don't. It is all tied up in investments. And Tanya once your trust fund is gone you are cut off. I won't be helping you out any longer."

"Honey isn't that a bit extreme."

"It maybe but she needs to learn just like you need to learn. Starting now you have a limit on what you can spend for the house and yourself each month and that counts the food budget to. No more expensive dinner parties every night."

"But honey that is the only way to find someone for Tanya to marry."

"She can use E-Harmony it's cheaper."

"There are thugs on that site. I will not subject my daughter to that."

"One dinner party a month is all you get." He said. "I want your all of your credit cards NOW Tanya."
