Mission Impossible

"Going somewhere?" Hermione jumped at the voice and hit her shin on the coffee table. The vase on top of the table wobbled and fell. With a casual flick the vase was flying back where it originally was.

"Merlin Draco. Don't scare me."

"You didn't answer my question."

"Why answer when you already know?"

"Why go?"

"Why not?"

"Maybe because it's dangerous!"

"It's my parents Draco. I must go. I have too."

"Stop being so stubborn."

"Stop pretending you care." At that, Draco paused and gave Hermione a dark look. Of course he bloody cared. That's why he was there 12 in the morning at her apartment. Hermione sighed and Draco sat down gloomily.

"I came to tell you this, I think you should go." Hermione looked surprise at his response. For months Harry, Ron, Draco and the rest of her friends have been telling her not to go look after he parents. It was dangerous, they said. You can get hurt, they said. In reality, they didn't understand or maybe they did.
"Look, I got closure from knowing what happened to my parents. You should too. I know my mother is in heaven somewhere probably wondering why I haven't settled down yet and my father is rotting in hell. You should know the truth and get closure. No matter what the outcome is." He came over to her and placed his hand on her shoulder. "One condition."

"Anything." Hermione replied quick, glad to have someone on board.

"I go with you."

"Fuck…I knew there was a catch." She mumbled. "We leave at 4. My orders only. You can come but if you don't follow my rules Malfoy I swear I'll leave you there."

OoO

Tracking down Hermione Granger's parents were supposed to be an easy task and simple. How hard could it be to track down two muggles? Add in the brightest witch of her time in making them disappear than you were screwed.

A trip he thought would take a few days turned to a few weeks. He knew Potter and Weasley would murder him and her when they came back but for some reason he had to help her. He would want to know as well if anything happened to his parents despite the way he felt about them. Knowing Hermione had a great and normal relationship with her parents, he understood her reasoning even more. They ran into death eaters here and there. For some reason, Draco always managed to narrowly avoid them, he knew time was against them and he quickened the time he had left to find Hermione's parents.

Finally one day they were very close in figuring out where her parents were. They followed the leads to a remotely quiet neighborhood in Australia. Everything about the place seemed normal though that made the two Aurors cautious of their surroundings.

"That house." Hermione pointed, nodding at a blue house at the end of the street. He nodded. "I'm nervous." He nodded again. "Draco…"

"What Hermione?"

"What if… what if…." He stopped walking and turned to her.

"Hermione, they're fine. This neighborhood seems safe and quiet. We're going to get them and turn back real quick. You don't stop for nothing, okay? Even if it means I have to stay behind. Got it?" She nodded this time. "Let's go." They snuck in from the back door, it seemed like they just had lunch since there were dishes in the sink. The TV could be heard from the kitchen and he signaled her to go there. Draco noticed two people sitting on the couch, softly speaking.

"Excuse me?" Hermione asked and the heads whipped around. He never knew what Hermione Granger's parents looked like but the key features of her mother's curly untamable hair and her father's soft brown eyes gave it away.

"Yes? Can we help you?"

"How did you get in here?" They asked her. Hermione's eyes brimmed with tears. They didn't recognize her and that hurt her more than it should have even though she made them forget.

"We're here to help you sir. We're a rescue team…"

Sounds of apparition could be heard and Hermione gasped.

"We must go. Now."

"We don't even know you two!" Hermione's mother exclaimed. Hermione grabbed both of parent's arms.

"I think you're safer with me than the people who are about to come in." The door was blasted open. "Or just blast the door open." Hermione said, annoyed.

"Hurry Granger…" Draco warned. They both took out their portkey necklaces Hermione fashioned for them. "3…2…1…" He counted down. Instantly Hermione was whisked away with her parents but he stayed put. For some reason his would not work…
