A/N: Hello my dearest readers. I really wanted to give you a 'normal' chapter rather than a doctor who one and most likely next one will also be a 'normal' chapter, but that one seems to take a bit more time (I'm rewriting it at the moment for like the seventh time). The idea for this one popped into my head and I just wanted to write it. So just a small one this time, but I hope that all of you will like it. So enjoy this chapter!

A bright smile spread over his lips as he saw the dark landscape below them, the cold air brushing against his face. He gently petted Aithusia on the back, feeling the white scales underneath his fingers. Nowadays it was rather rare for them to take flight like this, the human technology had grown rapidly these past few years and the changes of them discovering her seems to only grow.

That and the current war raging over the world. Every country was on high alert and he knew that these days they would most likely shoot before asking questions.

Aithusia turned her head so she could look at him, her eyes were shining bright, she had missed flying like this with him. They were after all Dragonlord and dragon, they needed each other.

It was than that a bright light spread over them and Aithusia stopped mid air, her musles tensing up beneath him in panic. Her wings slammed loudly through the air as she tried to hold her spot, not knowing what was outside of the light. He shouted at her, but his voice was lost in the wind. He turned to look downwards and to his fear he noticed that they had flown over an city, the light coming from a large spotlight. Other lights soon joined the first one and he heard the first sounds of gunshots. ''Ámundian!'' He shouted in instinct and a white shield spread around Aithusia, protecting them from the bullets.

Though it was clear that it didn't settle the worry in Aithusia's mind. The dragon went in an complete panic mode and nearly threw Merlin of her back. He send his magic out to her, trying to calm her down, but even the soft soothing of his magic didn't seem to work. In the end he had to use his powers as a Dragonlord to stop her from hurting herself or him. She hung silently in the air, only moving her wings in order to stay within the shield. He could feel her pain from being controlled like this. He didn't like it either, but he knew that it was the best thing to do at the moment.

The gunfire still roared around them and Merlin was finally able to focus on the threat, but it was difficult to think of an way out as he felt every hit that landed on his shield, his magic screaming from him to get away from this danger. He closed his eyes, trying to ignore the sound, before powerful words left his lips and his eyes turned a bright golden. ''Gemót us áworpeness fram fangeness!'' The words had barely left his lips when he felt a strong pull on his body.

When he opened his eyes once more he could only see the darkness of night and to his relieve it was completely silent. A small laugh left his lips and leaned back down on Aithusia, who in return let out a large breath before slumping down onto the ground.

Merlin had transported them a few miles out of the city. He looked up, seeing the faint lights that till just a moment ago had shone upon them and he was almost certain that he could still hear the sounds of gunshots in the distance.

That morning they decided to go back to the city. Aithusia had shifted back into her human form. Yet as they came closer to the city he could feel worry spread through his mind, he just hoped that none of the citizens got hurt in the crossfire.

There were almost no people on the streets that morning. Men rushing from house to house and those without a home had gathered together. He could see women glare at them from behind their curtains, but once he looked at them they quickly disappeared back into their houses. There were no sounds of laughter, of talking and the playgrounds had been completely abandoned.

Military vehicles drove all through the city, the soldiers looking suspiciously at anyone out on the streets. It was clear that the city was on high alert.

Aithusia had been silent for almost the whole morning, gripping his hand tightly into hers. He could feel that she was rather shaken of what had happened to them.

It was than that he spotted a paper boy, the boy hadn't sold much so for and it was obvious that he too didn't like being out today. Merlin bought one of his papers and he read the front title as Aithusia glanced over his shoulder.

MYSTERY AIR OBJECTS SEEN IN SKY OVER L.A.

Underneath was a picture of an oval sphere hovering in the sky, beams of lights directed at it. Ah, so they had been photographed, luckily because of his shield Aithusia wasn't recognizable. He eyed the dragon for a moment and in return she gave him a nervous smile.

''So what do the people say?'' He asked the boy as he knew that the government had probably a tight grip on the papers.

The little boy looked at him before glancing around to see if there were any military vehicles around. ''The people say that it are aliens, sir.''

Merlin couldn't help but let a slight smile cross his lips. He was almost certain that there would be many speculations of what they were in the future, but maybe that was better than the truth of an mighty and giant flesh eating creature living in their midst.
